Comments: You can tell the author put their interests in here, and this is a long fic that at least once had me put an hour of fake meetings on my calendar to log into work late so I can read. There's a lot of drama in here, but CW for off-screen rape for at least two characters, cutting, and suicide attempts. And for aces - be aware that there's a lot of lemon scenes in the last five or so chapters.

One of the things that stood out to me in this fic was how there was a fair bit of focus on Yugi's relationship with his grandfather - not all of it positive - and how that indirectly impacted his relationship with the rest of the crew.

Admin's notes: I was watching Drive to Survive and I was hit by an intense flashback of reading a ygo racing themed AU, and went to dig this up. I haven't re-read it in ages so can't say if it holds up to time but it goes here anyway because I'm a sucker for obscure crossovers with just the right amount of tie-ins to the source material. As I remember it was everything you would expect: fast-paced, huge cast, and no shortage of sport politics/drama.

I don’t know what you prefer to read, so I’m just going to… dump everything I have off hand, so this will be put under a cut. A lot of this will be Puzzleshipping/Blindshipping, unfortunately, so if you’d prefer a different ship (or genfic!), please let me know!

fic rec! 172K Egypt Puzzleshipping AU

Summary: Caught in a conflict not of his making as heir to a throne that shouldn't have been his, Yugi finds himself face to face with the most feared warrior of all time - the Pharaoh of Egypt.

Comments: Ah, the enemies to friends to lovers to enemies to forced married enemies to lovers Puzzleshipping fic.

This is one of those fics you'll find yourself reading at 5am, as I found myself several times. It was really hard to put down. The concept here is that Atem, looking for reparations for a destroyed village, marches into Yugi's kingdom and essentially takes it over, turning Yugi & his friends into slaves. (This is a very shippy fic with relationship end goals so if that's not your thing, move along)

A large part of this is the political drama - Yugi struggles with his country are due to his unexpected kinghood after the death of his father and brother. Atem is facing conflict from Pegasus's kingdom, dead set on taking revenge for Atem's womanizing. Atem also realizes that his kidnapping of Yugi was wrong (for several reasons) and has to struggle with keeping Yugi's kingdom calm while hiding from the High Council that oversees inter-country conflicts that he may have mistakenly kidnapped a fellow monarch. Especially because as he gets to know Yugi, he's reluctant to let him leave his life and slavehood is a convenient way to keep him close. And that's just the first half of this fic.

There's a noncon; it's not exactly front and center but you know it happens. While Yugi says yes there is the master/slave dynamic to be aware of, and there is one scene in particular where Atem's pushiness really got to me. Yugi's also not the only victim. His friends find themselves in various rough situations too.

One page smut, but only a few scenes in a massive fic, and only one noncon scene on page that I'm calling as such to be safe.

It's been days and this fic still hasn't left my head.
