Tamil Nadu:
Up to Rs. 21,000 per month: No tax.
Rs. 21,001 to Rs. 30,000 per month: Rs. 135 per month.
Rs. 30,001 and above per month: Rs. 162 per month.
West Bengal:
Up to Rs. 8,500 per month: No tax.
Rs. 8,501 to Rs. 10,000 per month: Rs. 90 per month.
Rs. 10,001 and above per month: Rs. 110 per month.
Gujarat:
Up to Rs. 6,000 per month: No tax.
Rs. 6,001 to Rs. 9,000 per month: Rs. 80 per month.
Rs. 9,001 and above per month: Rs. 200 per month.
Andhra Pradesh:
Up to Rs. 15,000 per month: No tax.
Rs. 15,001 to Rs. 20,000 per month: Rs. 150 per month.
Rs. 20,001 and above per month: Rs. 200 per month.
Telangana:
Up to Rs. 15,000 per month: No tax.
Rs. 15,001 to Rs. 20,000 per month: Rs. 150 per month.

Uttar Pradesh:
Up to Rs. 25,000 per month: No tax.
Rs. 25,001 and above per month: Rs. 200 per month.
Madhya Pradesh:
Up to Rs. 15,000 per month: No tax.
Rs. 15,001 to Rs. 25,000 per month: Rs. 125 per month.
Rs. 25,001 and above per month: Rs. 208.33 per month.
Rajasthan:
Up to Rs. 15,000 per month: No tax.
Rs. 15,001 to Rs. 20,000 per month: Rs. 150 per month.
Rs. 20,001 and above per month: Rs. 200 per month.
These are the general Professional Tax slabs for some of the major states in India.

Brick kiln owners protest against GST hike, demand revert to old 1%
From 1 percent, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate was increased to 6 percent effective April 1, 2022.Thousands of brick kiln owners from across the country gathered in the national capital on Thursday to protest the government's decision to increase the goods and services tax on construction materials by 5 percentage points.
Omvir Singh Bhati, Secretary General of the Association of All India Brick and Tile Manufacturers (AIBTMF), said that the GST rate has increased from 1% to 6% from April 1, 2022. Previously, property tax was introduced. and services at a rate of 1 per cent to brickmakers under the installation scheme.
 "Our demand from the government is to reduce the GST to the level of 1 percent on bricks. Brick owners from all over the country gathered to protest the GST rate increase," he said.
According to Bhatti, the industry is facing tough times amid demand and high cost of inputs. The GST on raw coal is also 12 percent higher, up from 5 percent previously.
There are around 1,500 brick kilns in India, employing around 3 million workers. But the workers don't come to work because the units are closed right now.
