[@hyah-lian requested a sickfic prompt; Far/Rabbit/Ordon down with the flu and ending up with grumpy cuddles]
****
Their tent was a miserable place to be. Rabbit stood his ground near the entrance, arguing with Smith to let him out. If it wasn't for whoever was their assigned guard at the moment, Far would've snuck out a while ago, and Ordon was likely to follow. At least he had a tent. Though company wasn't preferable, he had chosen his companions so this was who Far was stuck with.
Only Minish, the lucky thing, had managed to avoid the sickness that the other three had woken up with. They were trapped in their quarantine until they got better or the rest of the group came down with it too.
Rabbit broke into a fit of coughing, inadvertently letting Smith win. He collapsed onto his bedroll, breathing hard after it passed.
"They won't let me out," Rabbit groaned. "Not even to get some water. We're to ask for it to be brought to us."
"C'mon, we can't have everybody getting sick," Far said tiredly, and glanced at Ordon.
Far and Ordon had butted heads earlier, when they had noticed each others' predicaments. Ordon had been so overbearing that Far had been freaked out a bit, but he had retaliated by simply giving Ordon the exact same treatment. Ordon had shifted to his wolf form after his attempts to coddle Far were thwarted, and they had retreated to opposite corners of the tent.
Ordon gave a weak growl. Far gave him a lopsided grin right back.
"But I can still do things!" Rabbit protested. "Look at me, I'm fine! I'm barely sick!"
"You'll hit your fever soon enough," Far said, and Ordon huffed agreement.
Rabbit coughed again, and Far made a considering noise.
"Hey Ordon, what say we both get what we want?" Far said quietly, gesturing at Rabbit.
Ordon flicked an ear and heaved himself up. He crept behind Rabbit, who was completely unaware, and easily took his sleeve between his teeth. He gently tugged and Rabbit had no choice but to stumble over to where Far was waiting.
"Ordon, don't you dare!" Rabbit hissed as Ordon slipped behind him and shoved him into Far's arms. "Far, you're roasting, now isn't the time for cuddles-"
Far laughed softly, holding his squirming partner tight. "We're all stuck in here together, we might as well."

For those of you noting that Far is "so tall" in this comic, I really must emphasize for your sakes that....
Far is not tall. He's SO not tall. He's 5'5" in 1" heels. He's a very average human height for much of the world.
Everyone ELSE is just that short.

It wasn’t the talking that woke them. Minish was accustomed, by now, to the quiet conversations that took place when multiple people were on watch outside their tent. What made them startle, opening their eyes to scan the tent for danger, was the sound of somebody quickly and uncontrollably losing themself to sobs.
Ordon and Rabbit were accounted for; Far was absent, and Minish guessed that he was on watch. Rabbit was still asleep, but Ordon met Minish’s frantic gaze with half-awake eyes. Minish made a soft sound of inquiry, and Ordon simply lifted his arm in invitation. Minish crept over to press into his side, bristling and alert, unsure why Ordon wasn’t more concerned about whatever was happening outside.
“Everything’s alright,” Ordon whispered, pulling Minish close. “Legend and Red found our camp a few hours ago- they’ve been separated from their group and Red was injured. Chief’s been working to heal Red, and I imagine it isn’t very fun.”
Minish bared their teeth at the thought. Chief was trustworthy- barely, given Minish’s history with medics- but Minish hated knowing that something painful was happening to their young friend, healing or not.
“I know you hate it,” Ordon said calmly, “So how about you stay in here for a few more minutes? If you want, you can check on Red when Chief is done.”
Reluctantly, Minish nodded. As much as they would like to hide until everything was over and done with, they needed to see with their own eyes that the kid was safe.
Another long wail made them flinch and whimper, feeling like their heart was being torn in two. Red sounded more scared than anything, and Minish knew all too well how that felt.
“Just wait a few minutes, then you can go make sure he’s okay,” Ordon repeated.
Minish nodded again and covered their ears, though it didn’t help enough to block out Red’s sobbing. They couldn’t feel very comforted by Ordon’s hug, knowing that their friend was hurt and scared and possibly without comfort of his own.
Finally, Ordon ended the agonizing wait by gently lifting one of Minish’s hands and telling them, “Chief’s gone.”
Minish wondered how he knew, then they heard somebody’s unsteady breathing from behind their tent. The shadow was too small to be anybody but Chief. Hopefully he wouldn’t notice Minish leaving; they didn’t need either of them even more freaked out.
Minish slipped out of the tent, sticking to the shadows as they cautiously approached the center of their camp. They could see Far sitting near the fire, and the small body safe in his arms. So Red wasn’t alone… Minish was already relieved, and even more so that his guardian was Far. He was one of the few heroes that Minish felt more comfortable being themself around.
With that in mind, Minish silently sat opposite Far, staring across the fire. It was almost a peaceful scene, with the low crackling of the flames accompanied by Far softly humming… but Red’s crying was on the verge of overpowering them both. Minish shifted in place, unsure how they could help- unsure if they could help.
Far looked up, alarm turning to recognition before Minish could move to assure him that it was just them. “Minish? Did you come to see him?” Far asked quietly, over sobs that didn’t waver.
Minish nodded and carefully made their way closer to Far. They gave a low, mournful whistle, and Red finally showed a sign of awareness. The boy pushed himself the tiniest bit away from Far, looking for the source of the sound.
Something between a whine and a growl started deep in Minish’s throat when they saw the bandages wrapped neatly around Red’s arm. With how much of Red’s arm was obscured, the injury and healing must have been quite the ordeal. No wonder the kid was so shaken…
Minish jolted in surprise when Red hiccupped and spoke. “M-Minish?”
A small, shaking hand reached for them, and Minish took it with no small amount of surprise and confusion that Red hadn’t just retreated to Far.
“Safe,” Minish chirped, switching to the picori language that made it easier for them to communicate. “I’m here, you’re safe.”
“I’m scared,” Red whimpered. “Too scary… being brave is hard.”
Minish nodded, then gave an alarmed squeak when Red crawled out of Far’s lap in favor of theirs. Wasn’t Far better at this, being comforting? But Red was curling into a tiny ball, and all Minish could think to do was curl around him in turn.
Was Red crying again? No, he was shivering in Minish’s arms, his breaths coming in short gasps, but no tears had returned. Minish had no idea what they were supposed to do if he did start crying again. It had seemed that Far had simply been hugging him… was that really enough?
“Would you look at that,” Far said quietly, not having moved since Red had left him.
Minish looked up at him, eyes wide and making what they hoped was an obvious, very bewildered face. “Worse,” they stated, willing Far to understand.
Far, unfortunately, just gave them a fond smile. “No, he seems to be feeling better now,” he said gently. “He hadn’t calmed down at all until you came over.”
Minish huffed in frustration and repeated, “Worse,” gesturing between them and Far.
Far knew how to provide comfort for crying kids. Far didn’t have to worry about hugging Red too tight and pricking him with sharp claws. Far wouldn’t scare Red all over again if he was startled himself. Far was better for this than Minish, yet they were the one who Red had chosen.
“Why?” Minish asked instead, tucking themself tighter around Red despite their worries.
“Because you’re his friend, and he trusts you,” Far replied easily. “You wanted to help him feel better, right?”
Minish nodded, freezing when Red made a tired coo. They felt his shuddering sigh, and something in them melted when Red truly relaxed. They gave an affectionate chitter back, letting their tail curl up to brush against Red’s face. A tiny smile formed under the fluff resting on his tearstained cheek, and Minish happily mirrored it. With a faint hum, their small friend nuzzled closer still, and Minish finally accepted that Red really did feel safe with them.
“I told you,” Far laughed softly, “You’re doing great.”
Minish grumbled at him, determined to stay in their protective ball around Red. They would have to give him back to Far when Chief came to check on him, but until then, Minish would protect Red from everything that scared him.

It took a lot of bribery and more than a few threats before they were led to a dilapidated stable on the outskirts of the town. It made Ordon sick to think about how they had let Minish be captured and taken here. He didn’t want them to be alone for a moment longer.
“Chief, come with me, they’re probably hurt,” Ordon ordered. “The rest of you stay here, we can’t overwhelm them.”
Chief nodded and followed Ordon inside, pausing by the door as Ordon went deeper.
Minish was in the farthest stall, as small as they could be while chained to the wall. Ordon struggled to move closer, through a foreboding aura that almost made him fall to his knees. Minish snarled, giving Ordon a clear view of what appeared to be a horse bridle strapped around their face, complete with a bit jammed in their mouth.
“Chief?” Ordon called quietly. “How many fairies do you have?”
“Two. Do they-”
“No. Not yet, at least.” Ordon swallowed hard. “They put a gag on them. I need to take it off, but they’re going to bite.”
Chief cursed, and Ordon heard him walk to the stall, staying out of sight. “I’m here when you’re ready.”
Ordon took a deep breath and crouched low to the ground. “Minish? It’s me, it’s Ordon. I’m gonna get you out of here, okay?”
Minish shifted in place, rattling the chains connecting their wrists to the wall. They leaned in Ordon’s direction, eyes wide with fear and hope.
“Hands first, alright?” Ordon said, and made quick work of the cuffs around Minish’s wrists. Minish pulled their hands close, and Ordon let them as he reached for the bridle.
Minish made a pained sound, immediately jerking their head in an attempt to get themself free. Ordon grit his teeth and hurried to unbuckle the thing, fighting to slip it over Minish’s head.
Ordon braced himself for the bite, but he still almost blacked out from the pain before the venom did the trick. He fell to the ground, paralyzed in seconds, but Minish was free.
When Ordon opened his eyes, Minish was huddled in a corner and Chief was crouched over him with an empty bottle.
“Thanks,” Ordon whispered as he sat up. “Back up please, I want to talk to them.”
Chief retreated to the opposite corner, and Ordon carefully looked at Minish.
They were shaking, their tail lashing and their hands pressed firmly over their mouth. Their eyes darted frantically between Ordon and Chief, but they dared to creep closer to Ordon.
“There you go,” Ordon soothed, waiting with open arms. Minish crawled onto his lap, and he uselessly wiped at the tears streaming down their face.
Chief muttered something vile, and Ordon quickly glanced up to see the medic looking horrified at the bridle.
It had been ill-fitting on Minish, and Ordon hadn’t paid much attention to it but now he found himself staring at it. The bit was exposed now, unforgiving metal spikes inhumane for any horse but for a person-
“Your mouth…” Chief breathed, making the mistake of looking directly at Minish.
Minish flinched hard and tried to hiss, but they choked on something thick and wet. Their hands fell as they gasped for air, and Ordon realized that their mouth was coated in blood.
Chief was rushing over, and Ordon was suddenly very aware that he had a hurt, traumatized, venomous kid in his lap.
“Chief, no!” Ordon snapped, instinctively pulling Minish closer and securing their arms. “You’re going to get yourself bit!”
Chief didn’t listen, his need to help overpowering common sense. He took Minish’s face in his hands, uncaring of the bloodstained fangs nearly grazing his fingers. Minish had regained their breath, screaming and thrashing in Ordon’s arms as Chief determinedly examined their mouth.
“You have to stop!” Ordon begged, his heart aching as he listened to Minish’s terrified sobbing. “I have to let go, please move!”
Finally, Chief did, jumping back as Ordon released Minish. There was a mad scramble to get free, and Ordon’s hand was once again caught between Minish’s teeth. His gasp of pain was lost when everything went numb, and he lost another fight to unconsciousness.
Chief, for his part, looked almost ashamed but he launched into a report as soon as Ordon came to. “Their tongue is severely damaged, I’m not sure there’s much of it left. It’ll heal on its own though a potion would help… if Minish didn’t refuse to drink them even without a ruined tongue.” He shuddered, looking more than a little ill.
Ordon held up a hand, then spoke gently to Minish who was watching them anxiously. “Everyone’s safe now. I’m sorry that happened. We don’t want to hurt you, I promise.”
After a little coaxing, they were alone in the stall and Minish eventually returned to Ordon’s lap. Minish shivered and whimpered even as Ordon pet their hair, doing his best to comfort them after the series of ordeals. They were out of fairies, and there would be many apologies when he spoke to Chief, but Ordon believed that they were fine for now. Letting Minish rest on their own terms was the least that he could do.

[@batrogers requested 9; Playing with your partner's hair until they fall asleep]
****
There's no planning or negotiation; there usually isn't, now. Not when it's quickly becoming a routine, an expected thing for Far to lay down and his partners join him for cuddles. Ordon is in the middle, protecting their dreams from unwanted visits.
Rabbit silently tucks himself into Ordon's arms, his face pressed to his boyfriend's chest. It isn't often that he lets Ordon hold him instead. He makes an impatient sound, and Ordon laughs softly.
"What is it, darling?" Ordon hums, like he doesn't know exactly what Rabbit wants. He relents before Rabbit can complain as such, though, running a hand through his boyfriend's hair that soothes him instantly.
Rabbit makes small, happy sounds as Ordon combs his hair with gentle fingers, melting as Ordon traces behind his ear. His boyfriend strokes his hair in time with his breaths as they slow, continuing even though Rabbit is already asleep.

[@iolitemoth requested "A finally collected enough courage to snuggle to B's side. They have a hard time staying composed when B wraps their arm around them."]
****
Ordon couldn't bring himself to care that he wasn't as engaged in the fireside conversation as he normally was. The last few weeks had been rough, and they had spent all of an hour near his Lake Hylia before getting thrown to a different era. Ordon had been so excited prematurely, only to come to terms with the fact that he had no idea when he could see his family again.
Far was sitting beside him, and his presence felt like a magnet. Ordon was so preoccupied with his family, he had almost forgotten to spend time with his partners who weren't ripped away every other day. He hesitated, afraid that Far would resent him for it, then leaned over to rest lightly against his boyfriend.
"Oh- You okay?" Far asked, casually wrapping his arm around Ordon's shoulders to pull him snugly against his side.
Ordon choked on the word "Yeah", and hid his face in Far's arm so he wouldn't see him about to cry.
When had he gotten so desperate for gentle affection that a hug made him break down? He was lucky that this hadn't happened with his Queen.
"Mmhm," Far hummed, unconvinced for very good reason. He moved his hands, and Ordon let his boyfriend move him to sit fully on his lap.
"It's been a while since I've seen Ilia, is all," Ordon said after a minute, his voice muffled in Far's soft tunic. "And my kids."
He'd seen the Queen and hers, at least, but they hadn't had the chance to visit his wife at all since this began.
"Hey, I get it," Far said gently. "We're all missing people. But right now, I'm here. You're gonna be alright, got it?"
Ordon nodded, melting into his boyfriend's warm embrace. He wasn't planning on moving for a while.

[@batrogers requested b squeezing a's hand like crazy, terrified of letting go.]
[this is a followup to all my teeth, and includes references to recent mouth trauma.]
****
Minish hated this place. They wanted to get away from the musty stable, with the chains still hanging on the wall, and never have to encounter those horrible people again. Every swallow and movement of their just-reformed tongue was still agonizing, and they wished it would heal faster.
They were lucky their natural magic meant that they didn’t lose their tongue entirely.
Looking at the bridle and its spiked bit made them dizzy, and they pressed close to Ordon so they didn’t have to see it as he led them outside. They didn’t even want to be around the others yet, especially not Chief (who had reminded Minish exactly why they didn’t trust him), and Ordon and Minish were left alone as the rest of the group discussed where they should go next.
Ordon’s attention shifted, watching Prince as he signed something, and Minish made a nervous sound. They lowered one hand from where they were fretting at their mouth and grabbed Ordon’s hand, afraid that he would leave them. Ordon glanced down at Minish, smiling as he closed his hand around theirs.
“I’m right here,” Ordon assured them. “You okay?”
Minish nodded slowly, feeling their tail twitch anxiously. They would need to hide it under their robes again if they went back through the town…
They saw Chief, talking quietly to Hateno, and almost choked as they remembered too late that they still couldn’t hiss. They squeezed Ordon’s hand hard, for balance and comfort, and the older man gave them another worried look.
“Do you want up?” Ordon asked, and gently lifted Minish when they nodded again.
Minish wrapped their tail halfway around Ordon’s waist and buried their face in his shoulder, keening softly. Maybe, with their friend holding them tight, they could forget how much everything still hurt.

[anon requested 27; "I don't care if I get sick. Give me a kiss."]
****
“Far? I brought you some tea…” Rabbit called softly, closing the door behind him. He glanced up, a burst of snickers escaping him as he saw not one, but both of his boyfriends sharing the bed. “Aww, did I miss something?”
“He was cold,” Ordon stated from where he was draped over Far’s lap.
“You can join us if you want,” Far added with a sigh. He eyed the tea with some interest as Rabbit brought it closer. “Thanks, can you set it on the table?”
Rabbit did so, and wasted no time joining his partners under the blankets. “You don’t need anything else?”
“Just your company,” Far hummed, wrapping an arm around him.
Rabbit tried to lean over for a kiss, but Far pulled the blanket over his face. Only his eyes remained uncovered, glaring at Rabbit though there wasn’t any real animosity.
“I don’t care if I get sick,” Rabbit chided playfully. “C’mon, give me a kiss.”
Far grumbled, but lowered the blankets so Rabbit could reach his cheek. He let Rabbit cup the other, unprepared for his boyfriend to quickly turn his face and steal a kiss from his lips.
Far squawked and swatted him away, but Ordon was laughing and Rabbit saw a blush on Far’s ears that wasn’t just from the fever.

[@batrogers requested 17; "I just can't get warm."]
****
Far had to admit, being sick was the slightest bit more tolerable with his partners around. He had made it clear that too much attention made him uncomfortable, so they gave him the space he needed.
Too much space, maybe. Far looked at Ordon, who was quietly keeping him company. Far's fever wasn't being kind, and the other side of the room suddenly felt very far away.
Far hadn't wanted to ask, but he was buried in blankets and if anything, he was shivering more. Today was not day that his stubbornness would prevail.
"Ordon?" Far said weakly, rolling his eyes when his boyfriend's head snapped up. "I just can't get warm..."
Before he could even finish, Ordon had climbed onto the bed and invited himself under the blankets. He slipped into Far's waiting arms, prompting a sigh of relief from his freezing partner.
"I thought you'd never ask," Ordon said, and Far couldn't help but scoff.
"I'm not that bad!"
"You've been suffering for hours!" Ordon argued, his tone heavy with concern. "I've seen you shaking, you're obviously cold and you wouldn't let me help-"
Far put a hand over Ordon's mouth to silence his rambling, and he felt his boyfriend plant a kiss on his palm in return. Far barked a laugh, then slumped as that had taken the last of his energy.
Ordon lingered for a moment, then pulled Far's hand down. "I win?"
Far groaned and held him tighter, leeching his boyfriend's warmth. Ordon chuckled and snuggled closer; that had been answer enough.

TBP QUESTION: WHO IS THE BIGGEST DORK? THE ABSOLUTE GOOBER OF ALL PROPORTIONS (alternately, what does each Link geek out over the most?)
I mean, the That Broken Promise boy that will ALWAYS and FOREVER be mocked for everything is Ordon. That poor poor boy will never know peace, because he is sweet and also incredibly reactive and kind of dumb in the most affectionate possible way.
This is even funnier because he's also one of the oldest Links (29) but some things never change with age....
(He is extremely competent, mind; he's great with horses and kids and mid-range at combat. He's just very bisexual and very much surprised by discovering this...)
As for who geeks about what, hrm...
Skyloft & Chief can probably go for *hours* about medical stuff
Minish gets excitable about smith work, constructs and so on and loves to study things and diagrams. The odds of him, Chief, Hateno, and Smith getting fascinated by the Beetle is 100%.
Kokiri, Ordon and Prince would go on about horses and also combat.
Outset loves wrestling, boats and water obviously, and rope ties, which he's pretty sad about not having that many people to geek with.
Far, Rabbit, Hateno, and Ordon have very fun conversations that nobody else wants to overhear (sex), which are completely different from the ones he has with Four and Kokiri, which nobody wants to overhear for entirely different reasons (commiserating about traumatic events)!

Febuwhump Day 6: "You lied to me"
Notes: The prompt is more loosely implied this time, neither character says it but both Skyloft and Minish are thinking something along the lines of it.
Characters are from @thatbrokenpromise by @batrogers
****
At first, Skyloft didn’t realize that anything was wrong with Minish. It was nearly impossible to tell what was going on beneath those long robes, which was how Minish had hidden their secrets for so long after they first met. Their tail was freed now, inches from dragging on the ground as the group continued their trek. Nobody else was paying much attention to Minish, but they had fallen to the back of the group with Skyloft, which they didn’t normally do. Skyloft couldn’t help but keep looking at them, indulging the nagging feeling that something was off- more so than usual, given Minish’s nature.
Eventually, Skyloft was able to place it; nearly concealed by their robes, Minish’s gait was slightly off. They held themself normally, but Skyloft started to suspect that under those layers, Minish was limping.
“Minish?” Skyloft called.
The younger hero jolted, then walked closer to Skyloft, already looking uneasy.
“Is everything okay?” Skyloft asked gently.
Minish tilted their head a little and nodded. “Fine.”
“All right. I just wanted to check,” Skyloft said, glancing at Minish from the corner of his eye. This close, he could see that Minish was definitely limping, but he couldn’t exactly force them to let him see.
Minish ducked their head and grumbled, “Of course it hurts. Can’t let him know it hurts.”
Without thinking, Skyloft asked, “Where does it hurt?”
Minish yelped, hands fluttering as they repeated, “Fine.” Another quiet afterthought, “He doesn’t know he can’t understand don’t let him know it hurts.”
“I’m going to sit for a minute,” Sky sighed, and pointed to the nearest tree. “Can you join me?”
Minish mumbled again about hurting and understanding, but reluctantly followed Skyloft to the tree. Sky settled with his back against the trunk, Minish sitting across from him and well out of reach. They squirmed in place, making a face of poorly concealed pain.
“I’m not going to force you to do anything,” Skyloft said calmly, “But if you’re hurt, I would like to help you. I can ask Chief to come over-”
Minish shook their head anxiously.
“-Or I could take a look myself. I’m trained as a healer too.”
Minish planted their fists in the grass, bared their teeth, and hissed.
It was a display of what the others called Minish’s wrongness, everything intimidating and not-right-at-all about them. Even Ordon had admitted that it was hard to face sometimes, but Skyloft simply waited as Minish transformed into something that would give any sane person nightmares. There may have been an inhuman growl emanating from an unending black maw, ringed by rows of fangs, but Skyloft knew that this was a test. Minish was just a scared kid, defensive and hurt, and it was up to Skyloft to earn their trust.
After a few seconds, Minish shrank back into themself, aggression giving way to defeat. They whined and pointed at their leg, not meeting Skyloft’s eyes.
“Your leg hurts?” Skyloft confirmed.
Minish nodded miserably.
“Thank you for telling me. I’ll see what I can do.”

10. Came Back Wrong - Link after the Palace of Twilight? Marinating in the Darkness poisoned Twilight Realm can't have been great for him, Triforce of Courage be damned. :)
Tumblr media
Congrats, you hit on the exact kind of thing I had in mind for a Cryptid version of Twilight Princess Link! Finally got me to design him, we'll see if I pull out more writing later but this time you got art. Base TP Link design is from my AU, That Broken Promise.
I'm sure he's fine and this doesn't look like an abomination to both Midna and everyone in Ordon Village... totally not...
But it's definitely permanent.
Thanks for the ask!!

THAY TBP ART MY HEART CANNOTNHANDLE
Wowowowowowowowowoow beautiful
Eee thank you!! I love that picture of him (I assume you mean that one of Ordon) and need to redo it sometime, because it's one of the only angles where you can REALLY appreciate all four of his face scars too.
I figured I've gotten enough new attention since I posted it originally I should reblog, glad to see I was right.
Thank you again!
