[@hyah-lian requested a sickfic prompt; Far/Rabbit/Ordon down with the flu and ending up with grumpy cuddles]
****
Their tent was a miserable place to be. Rabbit stood his ground near the entrance, arguing with Smith to let him out. If it wasn't for whoever was their assigned guard at the moment, Far would've snuck out a while ago, and Ordon was likely to follow. At least he had a tent. Though company wasn't preferable, he had chosen his companions so this was who Far was stuck with.
Only Minish, the lucky thing, had managed to avoid the sickness that the other three had woken up with. They were trapped in their quarantine until they got better or the rest of the group came down with it too.
Rabbit broke into a fit of coughing, inadvertently letting Smith win. He collapsed onto his bedroll, breathing hard after it passed.
"They won't let me out," Rabbit groaned. "Not even to get some water. We're to ask for it to be brought to us."
"C'mon, we can't have everybody getting sick," Far said tiredly, and glanced at Ordon.
Far and Ordon had butted heads earlier, when they had noticed each others' predicaments. Ordon had been so overbearing that Far had been freaked out a bit, but he had retaliated by simply giving Ordon the exact same treatment. Ordon had shifted to his wolf form after his attempts to coddle Far were thwarted, and they had retreated to opposite corners of the tent.
Ordon gave a weak growl. Far gave him a lopsided grin right back.
"But I can still do things!" Rabbit protested. "Look at me, I'm fine! I'm barely sick!"
"You'll hit your fever soon enough," Far said, and Ordon huffed agreement.
Rabbit coughed again, and Far made a considering noise.
"Hey Ordon, what say we both get what we want?" Far said quietly, gesturing at Rabbit.
Ordon flicked an ear and heaved himself up. He crept behind Rabbit, who was completely unaware, and easily took his sleeve between his teeth. He gently tugged and Rabbit had no choice but to stumble over to where Far was waiting.
"Ordon, don't you dare!" Rabbit hissed as Ordon slipped behind him and shoved him into Far's arms. "Far, you're roasting, now isn't the time for cuddles-"
Far laughed softly, holding his squirming partner tight. "We're all stuck in here together, we might as well."

Hello! Asking the question here because you told me to LOL
I was wondering, if a stranger than normal portal took one set of Links to the world of another set of Links, and maybe mixed them up, how long do you think it would take to figure out something was up? What do you think the different reactions of Apect AU seeing Mask AU? Especially since we know that Aspect Links now have experience with thinking someone was an evil double but turned out to not be?
SO I love this so much and i am SO happy you sent it here THANK YOU Okay so this was going to be a standalone but now I've decided it's a sequel to Aspects of a Mask
Aspects of a Mask 2 - Twilight Boogaloo
The two chains, unbeknownst to each other, come through their portals into the same woods. And unbeknownst to each other, they set up camp only a few hundred feet from one another.
It's the middle of the night when, unbeknownst to each other, the Twilight's of both Chains realise they really need to pee. So they both wave to their respective Warriors', who are on watch, and tootle off to take a whiz. And unbeknownst to each other, they both get a little turned around in the darkness, the result of which is that they both end up returning to the wrong campsite.
Neither notices and they both settle back into their bedrolls, wriggling a little and each thinking vaguely that it feels slightly... different.
Whatever. Probably just tired.
The next morning, neither notices immediately. The Mask!Chain think that Twi must still be tired and that's why he's not speaking as he shaves. The Aspects!Chain also notice nothing at first, because the Twilight they've ended up with may be able to speak, but he actually is really tired and is very slow getting up.
Predicatably, the thing that gives them each away is Wild. Wild is the outlier in each Chain, the thing that makes them really different at first glance.
For the Mask Chain, Bean creeps up to where Twi is tiredly pulling a comb through his hair. He needs a favour, and he trusts Twilight more than he trusts anyone.
"Twi?" he says quietly. "Can you help with my ba-"
That's as far as he got. Because Twilight jumped a mile in the air and turned around in shock, eyes wide as he took in the mask. Because he knows this Wild, he met him during that weird week where he joined his chain. But... as far as he knows there hasn't been any weird portals recently.
Well. Weirder than usual.
Mask!Wild also stares at Twi, eyes flicking to his neck in recognition.
"...you." he breathes. "But- how-"
Twi shook his head, looking around in shock. As he looked, he realised more was different than he had realised. Nearby, Hyrule was chatting quietly with Legend and across the camp, Sky was reading a book.
He wasn't in Ordon anymore.
In the Aspects camp, something similar happened to Mask!Twi but.... perhaps less.... calmly.
Because Aspects Wild also had a request for his good good buddy Twi, but was less nervous about asking for it. Instead he saw how Twi was still lazing in his bedroll and decided that the best course of action was to jump in beside him. Because of course.
From Twi's point of view, he was relaxing and having a lazy morning, when all of a sudden something very large and very fluffy was pouncing on top of him.
Twilight shrieked. And of course, not expecting any kind of sound from the rancher, Wild also shrieked.
"ORDONA'S YELLOW POLKA DOT BIKINI WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCKING FUCK?!" Twilight screeched
Wild stared at him. And then he yowled. Around him, all of his Chain drew their swords and leapt to their feet, ready to fight this bizarre imposter.
"Aw, Faron's tits, I'm out!" Twi hissed and did the only sensible thing he could think of - he got up and fled.
He didn't get far. Because over in the MUCH calmer Mask!Camp, Bean and Aspects!Twi had explained what was going on (as well as they could understand it) and were coming through the woods in search of their counterparts.
And so in his desperate flight, chased by Aspects!Wild and the rest of the Chain, Twilight ran straight into... himself. And immediately stumbled and fell onto the ground. He looked up. Saw the him-but-not-him.
"Balls." he whispered, staring up at him.
Thankfully, the misunderstanding didn't take too long to clear up after that. When the Bean and Aspects!Wild saw each other they immediately ran into a hug, and the Aspects Chain were all delighted to see Mask!Wild again.
Bean was more than a little flustered introducing his Chain to them all, and they were all more than a little astounded to meet their counterparts, the two Twilights especially. They weren't sure why they had been brought together, not at first.
That only became evident when they all joined together in one camp, both Wilds cooking, both Skys strumming their harps, all of them happily relaxing and getting to know one another.
Because they hadn't been brought together for a battle or for training. They'd been brought together, purely and simply, because they had all been through a lot. And they all deserved a break. And awkward meeting aside, a break was what they were going to get.

Heyy you fabulous writter! You've had me hooked ever since I first found a post of yours and I don't know if you're taking writing requests but if you are...I'd like to humbly request you to write this idea?🙏
Essentially I think it'd be really cute having a small one-shot of the LU boys in twilights hyrule and them meeting his S/O. His S/O can either be a simple farmer who grew up in the same area or the idea of someone he met on his journey who also had animal turning 'abilities'/features comes to mind so they understand each other more than most. IDK if it's a silly idea or not I just thinks the boys reactions (especially time teasing twilight and such) would be Hella cute! Anyways thanks and keep the good work up! 🫡

Yesyesyesyes living out my cottage core dream with mr. cowboy teehee
~
Twilight was getting giddier by the second as he approached Ordon, and the boys could tell. He was clenching and unclenching his fists, trying the keep the nervousness at bay, but how could he do that when he was about to see you. His beloved.
"I don't think I have ever seen you this jittery before, Pup. What's wrong?"
Twilight was about to answer him when they hear a loud gasp.
Twilight turns to see you on a tree above them, clad in what seems to be.... his old tunic? You jump down, hopping down branch by branch before landing inches away from Twilight.
"Oh by three- you're home! I missed you so much-"
He shuts you up, by pulling you in for a kiss, months of love and desperation melting onto you.
You had to pull away to avoid creating awkwardness for the others, "Alright, easyyy cowboy. Now why don't you tell me about your lil' friends?"
Time raises an eyebrow at him, clearly interested in your character.
"Oh! I completely forgot t' introduce myself! I'm Y/n, mister hero's partner."
Time nods, holding out a hand to shake.
"I'm Time, a... friend of Link's. We all met on his recent adventure."
You nod, squinting a bit at him, then eyeing the rest of them. You walk around them slightly, eyeing their garb and equipment a bit before nodding back at your boyfriend.
"They're Links too, aren't they?"
Legend jumps slightly at that, "How did you-"
You smile at him, "I gotta good nose."
Twilight shakes his head, chuckling "Alright, lets go back to the village before you start figuring everyone out."
You jog up to him, animatedly waving your hands, rambling about Colin and how good with swordsmanship he's become. Before you could continue rambling, Wind asks, "How'd you two meet?"
You and Twilight pause, looking at each other before responding.
"Oh, y'know, I met him on his quest during the Twilight Era. Stinky do-wait, they know, right?"
"They're too nosy for their own good."
"Right, so. I met him while I was in my alternate form. Fell on top of me from a brittle tree-"
"-Wait, you have a wolf form too?!" Wind exclaims, running up to you.
You snort, this kid's funny.
"Nah, that's hero's spirit and all. It's better if I show ya."
You focus for a moment before you feel the shift, still uncomfortable but so much less painful than the first time it happened, oh so many years ago.
Opening your eyes, you can feel your senses sharpen, everything intensifying tenfold.
"A fucking fox???!?!! Twilight, your wife is so cool."
"Not my wife yet, but thank you."
You walk up to Wind, cooing at him. He hesitantly pets your fur on your head, earning him a soft purr from you.
You walk up to the rest of them, just looking at them. You give a few extra sniffs to the pink-haired one, him smelling like hare.
Shifting back, you walk back to Twilight, your fur coat retreating back into your skin. You give him a peck on the cheek, continuing your way back to the village.
"Y'all coming or what?"
Twilight breaks out of his lovestruck trance, following you. Time walks up to Twilight, muttering to him,
"I can tell you've got a thing for foxy personalities."
"Oh, shut up."

Here are some short writings from Linked Galaxy!
Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?
Warriors snickered unashamedly as Four pulled a stormtrooper helmet over his head. The two of them and Legend had snuck aboard an imperial cruiser and were in need of disguises. The captain decided to tease the boy as he adjusted the plastoid armor on his shoulder.
"You've definitely gotta be the shortest stormtrooper I've ever seen." The man chuckled.
Four yanked the helmet off and leveled him with a glare.
He muttered bitterly, "Hand me that cadet helmet."
Legend slid in next to Warriors in full armor. "Honestly, he should really be posing as a captured Ewok or Jawa instead."
Four roughly pulled the cadet helmet over his head and growled in a filtered voice, "Shut up or I'll stun you."
Legend knocked on the top of Four's helmet with a daring smirk. "Try it. We'll see how this op goes when you're dragging my limp body around."
The captain cut in with a mock serious tone, "Don't do it, Four. It won't go over well."
Four scowled underneath the helmet. "Why did I have to be assigned this mission with you two?"
Where's your padawan?
Time peeked over the crate carefully. Standing at attention, in front of their escape was an outrageous amount of troopers. He sighed then turned to address the two boys next to him.
"Now, this is a tight situation. We are out numbered by a lot and our chances of getting out of this hanger with guns blazing is out of the question." He shared a glance with his former apprentice. "I think it best to employ stealth-"
Time glanced around. "Twilight, where's your padawan?"
The sound of an explosion and screaming bucket-heads rang out behind him. "That's him isn't it?"
Twilight rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. "Yeah..."
Time pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. "I'm going to have a word with both of you later. Let's get moving before Wild gets himself killed."
Point and Shoot
Legend fired his blaster at an approaching trooper and swiped his gun. After examining it briefly, he tossed it to his companion.
Hyrule fumbled to catch the weapon as Legend spoke, "There. Use that."
Hyrule turned the blaster over in his hands, looking for the grip. "I have never used a blaster before."
Legend stared at the younger boy blankly for a moment before continuing his march down the hallway. "What am I going to do with you, kid? It's simple. Point and shoot."
She's a good speeder!
"Rusl can drop us off at the spaceport and then bring Epona back home so we don't have to worry about leaving her," Twilight summarized his plan for leaving Ordon.
Time raised a brow. "You named your speeder?"
"She's a good speeder!" Twilight defended himself with his arms crossed over his chest.
The exasperated master shook his head. "I'm not going to argue about this."
Please tell me we won't...
"Please tell me we won't have me launched full speed in an escape pod into an imperial space station?" Wind huffed after speaking what seemed to be utter nonsense in a down right serious tone.
"I'm sorry?" Sky leaned forward to glance at the boy in concern and confusion. "We uh won't do that?
Wild grinned like a mad man. "Yes. Yes we will."
Four is a droid?
"Who needs a droid when you have Four to fix things? Am I right?" Wind elbowed Warriors next to him.
Legend chuckled. "Do you think he can make it past the detectors in a cantina?"
"Probably not," Wild jumped in. "Not with all that scrap metal he carries around with him."
Four's eye twitched and he gripped the wrench in his hand. "I am so close to strangling all of you."
Warriors didn't bother to hide his amusement. "He's got the attitude for it too."
"Say goodbye to your heaters. Don't come to me to fix it when you're all freezing in your rooms tonight."
I'm a fighter pilot!
Sky stumbled into the captain's seat of a freighter and scanned over the controls frantically.
"How does this thing work?" He yelled towards the back of the ship.
Legend stopped his decent down the ladder in shock. "I thought you were the best pilot!"
"I'm a fighter pilot!" Sky shot back in frustration. "I've never seen a ship like this before!"
Legend blinked at him in disbelief. "This is a simple freighter! How have you not seen one?"
"My people never traded with outsiders!" Sky explained as he guessed at the switches and successfully started the engines. "The biggest ship we have besides our loftwing fighters is the Skycarrier itself!"
"Blast it all!" Legend swore as he mentally declared this conversation a lost cause. He let himself drop into the lower turret position. "Just figure it out! I'm manning the guns!"
How'd you get so skilled with a lightsaber?
"How'd you get so skilled with a lightsaber?" Twilight asked as he and Sky boarded their home ship.
Sky pondered a moment. "I was trained by the ghosts of ancient Jedi."
Time, who happened to hear them as they entered, spilled his caff in surprise.
"Is that right?" Twilight grinned.
Sky nodded. "I think facing off against two supposed long dead Sith Lords was a big part of it."
The captain, who had walked past them at that moment, turned to face the eldest in the corner.
"Did he just say what I thought he said?" Warriors spoke in a panicked tone.
Time didn't reply as he cleaned up his spilled drink.

Sparks Between Fang Marks: Bite from the Beast 2
✨✨✨✨✨🐺✨✨✨✨✨
The distant sound of a man softly humming sifted through the floorboards.
You lifted your eyes, looking down to see your body swathed in a bundle of blankets. You moved your legs to find a pillow placed beneath each one. You groggily scooted upward, needing a better view of your surroundings and wanting to locate the source of the pleasant humming.
You looked to your right, the top of a ladder led to the downstairs, revealing you were in a loft. To the left lay a window. You flicked the blinds open a crack to see a soft trickle of sunlight stream in.
How many days have you been out? And where were you? A lump of panic hit your throat when you remembered your leg, which had been dangling by mere threads of ligament. You jerked upright, thoughts swirling around you as you remembered the wolf and the apologetic rancher with the mouth stained with your blood.
I've got to get out of here. You began to fight against the sheets, distressed.
You jumped out of the bed, all of the blood rushing to your head, causing you to grab hold of the wall.
That was until the wall started to move. You looked up and saw the rancher standing there.
"Ah, easy. You may still be woozy from the blood loss." He set a plate of food down on the side table as he grabbed your shoulders and gently guided you back to his bed.
You looked at the food, your stomach betraying you by growling at the tantalizing grub he had thoughtfully cooked for you.
Then you remembered the blood that was crusted to his gums. You looked up at him, expecting to see him start to howl and jump around on all fours.
But he just stood, his head slightly tilted as he observed you.
"Everything ok?"
Your stomach answered in your stead. He gave you a wisp of a chuckle. "It sounds like you're hungry."
He sat down beside you carefully, as if he could sense your apprehension.
Your eyes remained affixed to his mouth. If only you could erase the blood-stained teeth imprint in your brain, you would be able to actually appreciate the mauve tinge of his lips. He reached over to grab your plate, but you weren't about to let the wolf fatten you up so he could eat you later. You grabbed his wrists, twisting them up and down, looking for any arcane space of gray fur that could be hidden on his body.
You threw his wrists down, distraught. "I know what you are," you maligned him. You finally ripped your gaze from his mouth and looked into his mellow blue eyes. The eyes that matched the mellowness of the wolf before he sank his fangs into you.
He looked away, scorned but not offering any rebuttals to your accusation either. "I didn't mean to hurt you. I really am sorry."
"Aha! So, you are! I'm not crazy!" You slapped the bed, rocking it in triumph.
He grabbed your hand in between his. "Please let me make this right somehow. I feel awful."
You folded your arms. "I don't sleep in strange men's beds, so you can start by telling me your name."
This teased him into a smirk. "You work for the castle, and you don't know who I am?"
He let your hand go, causing a slight stitch of disappointment within you. He looked down at his floorboards, wistful, as if he were counting the cracks in them. "Link." He murmured.
"Link?" He lifted his gaze back upward and waited for the realization to reflect in your eyes.
" L I N K!" You slapped the bed again; the sound of the springs in the bed ricocheting made it vibrate. "That Link? What in Hylia are you doing hiding on a ranch?"
You lowered your voice as if you didn't want a ghost in the room to hear you. "You could have your own place in the castle. You work for the princess too; no wonder you were so eager to help me. But you, that curse, I thought the curse from the twilight was lifted?" You lifted your thumb to your chin in thought.
Link sighed. "I am from Ordon. I chose to return here for the time being until I figure out how to lift the twilight's curse."
"How do you lift it? Why aren't you asking her majesty to assist you? Surely, as her greatest knight, she would. You shouldn't be living like an outcast, Link."
He stood, indignant. "My home does not make me feel like an outcast. I'm more of an outcast among all those folk in Castle Town than I am here."
"Do you really feel that way, or is that your shame speaking?"
He lowered his voice, his eyes flickering with an emotion you couldn't quite read. "Only true love's kiss can lift it. And before you ask, yes, I've kissed many girls, even guys. Sometimes until my lips were raw. You think being a wolf is a curse? Try never being able to fall in love."
A feral streak hit his features, causing you to shift uncomfortably on the bed. He waited for you to offer him some type of consolation or comeback. His lips parted almost in a sneer; one of his canines was slightly protruding, and you wondered if it was even his tooth or the wolf making itself known through him.
"Boo-hoo, you can't find someone you like. Join the club. Quit feeling sorry for yourself and put yourself out there. You'll never find the right person if you're hiding away in exile on a ranch.
"You have an answer for everything, don't you? I'm starting to think the wolf in me bit you for a reason."
His face was suddenly right in front of yours, and small breaths came out of his flared nostrils, daring you to retort. You were starting to think he was enjoying this.
Or maybe you were.
"All I'm saying is that your soulmate may not even be in this village. When is the last time you've even gone on a date with someone from here?"
He paused, seeming to contemplate your question. You grabbed the plate, and a delicious whiff of sauteed pumpkin and berries with cream made you drool. You pierced a piece with your fork before his hand grabbed your wrist.
"I don't let strange women just eat off of my plate, so you can tell me your name first." He gave you a devious grin, and you wondered where the sweet ranch hand had gone.
On the same token, you couldn't deny the giant smile that was also taking up space on your face.
"Y/N." You took your other hand and guided his wrist, and your other hand that held the fork into your mouth. You closed your eyes, purring with delight.
"Well, it's a shame you don't have a lover; they're missing out on someone who clearly knows how to cook." You took another bite; the sound of your gentle moans was a clear appraisal of his talent in the kitchen.
You looked over to see Link staring at you. "What? Blood on my teeth?"
"Alright, I'm done playing nice." He walked over to his bureau and pulled out the vials you had on you. Each one was filled with what you assumed was some of the spring water.
You dropped your fork on the plate with a clank. Link held them out for you, but when you went to grab them, he swiped them away. "Hey!"
"You need these for Zelda, yes? Well, I'll give them to you under one condition. If you think falling in love is so easy, you're going to help me find the one who will lift the curse."
You tried to yank the vials again, but Link spun, pinning them tightly behind his back. He bent down, and with a rough edge to his voice, whispered. "You're at my mercy now."
You raised your eyebrow at him. "And if I don't help you? What are you going to do? Bite me again?"
He cooed, "Yes, only the fang marks are a lot worse when they're coming from my human form."
It was then and there that you decided you almost missed Wolf Link.
Almost.

hello! im the anon from the twilight ask!
The let-down reflex is what makes breastmilk flow smoothly. When babies suck at the breast, nerves are stimulated which causes the hormones prolactin and oxytocin to be produced. Theres a known psychological reflex with letdown, that those who can, will sometimes start lactating when they hear or see babies crying. its also known to happen when breasts are particularly full of milk or when something makes the body think that breastfeeding has happened, activating the“letdown reflex”
which is why i present to you this information with twilight.
the first time it happens takes both him and his partner by surprise, who new this could happen? so as the loving mate, he takes care of it all not without having a taste
i have this not very thought out idea that he slowly learns what does and doesn't trigger the reflex, but only using this knowledge when he knows youre both alone, or so he can whisk you away to somewhere private. as we've seen hes extremely protective/private, this bleeds into his partner. His darling is his and his alone. This is amplified x10 if theyre pregnant and producing milk. why should anyone else reap the rewards of what's rightfully his?
the thought of twilight absolutely ruining them, his mouth sucking at their nipples while doing so... mix that in with some slight manhandling and his accent....
drinking from his partner would also be really intimate for him too. i remember reading he likes to take things *usually* more slow for intimacy so i do enjoy the idea of twilight just laying on top of reader/whomever with his face in their chest. it could aftercare endeavor, after all he deserves a reward for all his hard work.
these are badly written out as i have no clue how to write my thoughts out but twilight has a chokehold on my brain!!
OH SO thats why moms who hear babies cry at the store start to leak- Okay thank you!
So. the first time probably happens in Ordon. It's a village that's thriving so there's always a baby. Maybe Twilight and his own lover are outside, sitting with their pup (TWILIGHT CALLS HIS BABY PUP SUE ME), when a baby's cry reaches them. At first they don't think anything of it. Maybe Twilight is gently holding his kid up and making faces at them while Reader lays on his shoulder. To say he's startled in the least when they suddenly jump back is an understatement. His ears pin back and he's on the defense with his pup curled against his chest. It's only when he turns to his love he realizes there's no real danger. No instead he's smirking and debating if whatever just awoken in side of him was something he needed to worry about.
His darling is there, slightly scandalized as their chest soaks through their shirt. Their burning a bright red but Twilight just laughs. He probably makes some joke about their pup having just been fed and Reader probably smacks him for that one.
But he's hyperfixated on this now.
After the pup is put down for the night he's taking the opportunity to really explore this new reflex. Afterall, their pup can't eat everything his love is producing and it's causing them so much pain. It's duty as a lover and father and protector to relieve them of that. It's whats right afterall.
Man the thought of Twilight just loosing his ever loving mind over his beloved and making them feel so good. Pining them in their place with strong hands on their hips all while singing their praises about how 'Good ye' taste, darlin'.' or how 'Yer' tits 're so fuckin' perfect. '
And it's such an intimate thing too. Sex with Twilight is intimate to begin with, but add in the fact that there's now a family involved? At this point your married, I don't make the rules.
THIS BEING AFTERCARE IS SUCH A SMART IDEA fofntfn Twilight just suckin on tits to bring him back down to Earth is such a funny idea to me.
This wasn't badly written at all and this is such a hit to my brain rot rn- fnofnf

A Twilit Challenge
Twilight laughed as the kids tugged him to a small clearing in Ordon Village, the hope and glee loud in their voices as they begged him to show them moves.
“Link! Link! Show us something cool!” Malo was tugging on the wolf pelt, trying to get Twilight’s sole attention. Smothered laughs were heard behind him, and he rolled his eyes; if his fellow heroes were trying to be subtle, they were failing miserably.
“Well,” he loosened Malo’s grasp on his pelt and swung the kid up onto his shoulder, “I’ll need a partner to help me.” Cheers rose up from the kids.
A scheming smile slipped onto his face.
“Why don’t you all help me choose?”
A dirty tactic? Maybe, but he knew who the kids would choose- they had been staring at him in awe for most of the day- and it would help further his plan.
Twilight had noticed how wound-up Warriors had been throughout the day; his eyes and ears were constantly alert, and his body never seemed to relax, even while in the safety of the village. But he knew it wasn’t because of an outside threat.
The dragon inside the captain was stirring- the wolf had made that clear, the same feeling when he had first met the captain. A warning, even if he knew no harm would come to him.
So, what better way than to blow off some steam and stress than a sparring session?
“Scarf guy!” The captain squawked. Twilight turned to see the three kids yanking at his scarf, and snorted at the lost look on the other's face. As the kids walked backwards, Warriors followed- probably didn’t want to be choked out by his own scarf.
“You want Wars here to be my sparring partner?” A chorus of excited ‘yes’ answered him. Malo started to wiggle, so he let the kid down- watching him run over to his brother and join in on scarf yanking party.
The rest of the heroes were in quiet hysterics over the spectacle- Sky and Legend were leaning against each other, barely audible wheezing laughter falling from their lips.
A sharp whistle caught the kids’ attention, “If you want us to show anything, you have to let him go.” They proceeded to drop the royal blue fabric and rushed to the nearest fences, either climbing on top of or sitting on the ground against them.
Warriors unwound his scarf and folded it, passing it off to Time. He walked over to Twilight and followed the rancher to their sparring spot. The rancher handed off one of the wooden swords to him, and made his way to his side of the area, Warriors mirroring his actions.
“One minute, or until one yields.” Time had assumed the role of referee.
Rules laid out, the two bowed, and began circling, body’s low; two predators prowling and calculating. It wasn’t until their third circle around that Twilight noticed Warriors had not dropped his gaze. He could sense the wolf’s hackles raising- if Warriors knew the implication of meeting Twilight’s gaze and holding it steady, he made no show of it.
The challenge was on.
Twilight took the first move, and the spar truly began. He had the advantage of raw strength, but the captain was professionally trained to a high degree, which he displayed as he redirected his slash with a fluid movement. They traded blow after blow, wooden swords smacking together as they went, clashing and pushing against the other, dodging and swinging.
“Thirty seconds!”
With a grunt, Twilight broke their current clash, catching Warriors off guard enough to make him stumble. Not exactly a shield attack, but it would work just the same. Quickly shifting his stance, he pushed off and jumped, aiming to attempt the Helm Splitter.
Instead of his sword meeting its mark, Twilight felt a hand wrap around his ankle and pull. He stopped short in the air and fell, the hand swiftly releasing him, allowing him to roll to absorb the shock. Before he could get his bearings, a weight slammed into him with a snarl and pinned him on his back, a knee sharply digging into his stomach.
Above him was Warriors, yet his blue eyes were no longer filled with friendly competition, instead hardened with power and divine light, making them glow brightly as the man’s feature twisted in a fanged snarl. Twilight bared his own fangs and growled in response with his ears pinned back, eyes narrowing dangerously, readying himself to buck the captain off.
The dragon had challenged the wolf on his own territory, after all.
Applause broke the challenge between the two, shocking them both out of their stupor, and Warriors clambered off of Twilight, offering him a hand that he graciously took.
The kids came flooding back to them, rushing around their legs and yanking on any article of clothing within their reach, yelling excitedly at the spectacle they were shown.
“Alright, alright, let’s get you guys back to your parents.” Twilight gently herded the kids back towards the houses, the other hero at his shoulder. He chewed on his lip nervously; had the spar been too much?
Warriors bumped his shoulder, simultaneously a silent thanks and to tell him that everything was okay. Twilight returned the bump, releasing his now bleeding lip from his teeth as his nerves were soothed.
Inside, the wolf snuffled contentedly, for the “danger” had dissipated; the dragon within the captain was satiated, curling around itself and fading to the back, settling far below the surface.
The dragon would rear its head again one day, he was sure, but for now it rested.

Eight Weeks
We Could Have Been Anywhere 9/9
Four breathes in deep; Time’s world is so similar to his own. If he squints, he can make out the rolling pastures that mimic his Hyrule Field. He knows, deep down, that they are basically the same, just separated by a few centuries of time. Long enough for everything to be unfamiliar, but close enough that he recognizes the rocky mountains in the distance, and the thick foggy forests to the south; they have different names, sure, and the castle has been rebuilt in a new place, but the land is the same. It’s the same for all of them, even Wind, whose islands are the very tops of the mountains of their worlds.
It’s just nice to be somewhere a little more… recognizable.
The knowledge that a little more walking and they’ll be at Lon Lon Ranch, where comfortable beds and safety lay waiting also helps put a pep in everyone's step.
It’s been… a while since they’ve gotten a good rest. The last time they could breathe was in Twilight’s Ordon Village, and even that came at the cost of a tiring battle, and only lasted a few days before news of monsters to the west sent them on their way.
Four can’t deny he’s a little wary, still expecting something to jump out at them once more, but with the way the old man is near-jogging ahead, he forces himself to push those feelings aside. Sometimes, Hylia gives them rest.
This will hopefully be another little vacation. He snorts at his own thoughts.
The sound of hoofs clopping across the ground behind them grabs his attention. Time turns as well, and the man is full-on grinning once an unobstructed view of the wagon makes an appearance.
Four mimics the grin when he reads the clattering sign dangling off the side.
Lon Lon Ranch - Best Milk This Side of Hyrule and Beyond. Talon waves from the front of the wagon, and pulls the horses to a stop. Time bounds over already, hello’s falling easily at his father-in-law.
It takes no time at all for them all to be bundled on the back of the wagon, and Four lets the bumping of the wheels lull him into a nap.
He’ll fix that axle when they arrive- it’s the least he can do.
Hyrule breathes in deep, following the sweet scent of fairies nearby. They’re a ways off from the fenced-in edges of the ranch, but he’s not worried. Wild is beside him, they have their swords at their sides (well, Hyrule has his sword. Wild has his slate, but it has hundreds of weapons in it, so it counts).
They’re being safe.
They’re getting lost, sure, but they’re being safe. Wild promised he was paying attention to where they were going.
So they’re following the magic trail Hyrule feels slipping out of his fingers at every second, just barely able to to catch onto it again. They’re quiet as they walk. Hyrule always enjoys that about his and Wild’s excursions. Sometimes they both chatter away, but more often than not, they just like being around someone with no expectations.
The woods around them are rich with bugs and birds and the dirt smells clean. The fairy trail has picked up a little, and Hyrule doesn’t need to focus as intently on it for a minute.
Wild picks up on this, and speaks. “Can I just. Uh, can I. Talk?”
Hyrule squints over at him. Wild is halfway over a fallen log- one that Hyrule easily crawled under. Wild likes taking the hard way.
“Sure? Is something wrong?”
“Not right now- well. Kinda? It’s not something- it’s just. I don’t know. I’m wrong.”
Hyrule stands straight up at that, fairy trail forgotten. Wild stands at the top of the log now, looking off to the side with his face pinched tight like he can pretend Hyrule isn’t there if he looks away hard enough. “You’re not wrong.”
“No, I mean, I’m not me. I don’t know who I used to be before I- before I died. And I hate that I’m not that person because Zelda deserves a hero who remembers her but I don’t- I don’t want to remember more of who I was because I was always so sad in every memory, but I want more memories because Zelda is in so many and I want to be something to her that’s not this random guy with a sword that stumbled his way to Hyrule castle and-”
“Wild, stop.” Hyrule speaks, voice almost stuttering over the words. He has no idea where any of this came from, well, he obviously has some idea. But why him? He’s so bad with this- with people. Wild is so much closer to Twilight. Time would have some wisdom from experience. Four would know what to say because he always knows what to say and Hyrule doesn’t.
But he’s not going to say nothing when Wild is clearly looking to him for an answer to his struggles.
“You’re not wrong or broken just because you’re not the same as Zelda remembers you, and because you don’t remember her. I mean,” he’s talking faster now, words spilling out before he can really think about what he’s saying. Quantity over quality, maybe something will stick. Maybe something will be right. “Neither of my Zelda’s knew me before my quests, and they seem to like me. And your Zelda, when we met her those few times, seemed to like being around you. I’m not good with those things. I’m used to sensing when people want me to leave their town, but I never got that from her with you. I don’t- you’re not broken, Wild. No more than the rest of us are.”
Wild is looking at him now. He doesn’t know if any of that made any sense, but Wild slides off the log and steps towards him. They stand there for a silent moment, before Wild tugs him into a tight hug, “you’re not broken either.”
He stands there, arms at his sides, for a few seconds. Eventually, he brings them up to return the hug. They stay like that, until an unmistakable chime rings off in the distance.
The arms drop, and Wild steps away first. He’s smiling, a small thing, but it’s there, “come on, let’s go find those fairies before someone comes looking for us.”
Hyrule follows.
Four grunts as the sword clashes against his. He turns his body to the left, pushing his foot out and getting into position, letting Legend’s sword slide just a little until-
He presses forwards with his body, flinging his arm to the side and bringing his shield up to block the returning attack and whips his own sword towards Legend’s leg. The blunt side slaps against it hard, and Legend’s responding curse makes it clear it’s going to bruise.
“Come on, Mr. Six Adventures, I’m two hits ahead on you. That's all you got?” Four’s taunt rings through the empty pasture. Legend grunts and takes a few steps back. Four see’s his hand go to his belt, but can’t quite make out what is clutched in his hand.
“You’re fast, I’ll give you that. But you’re not fast enough.” Legend’s arm flings out, and Four drops into a roll to dodge the-
Nothing. There’s no sound, no magical explosion to disorient himself. He risks a glance over--a silent magical attack can be much more dangerous than a loud one-- and misses Legend’s advance. His sword is sheathed, and Four is quickly tackled by the taller hero.
“You bastard! That’s a dirty trick!” Four kicks against the legs pinning him down, bringing an arm up to slap at Legend’s laughing face.
Two hands pin down his own, before shifting to hold them in one iron grip. Legend’s sword is unsheathed, pointing at his neck, “next time, don’t spar with all weapons as a rule set, maybe you’ll get a little closer to outsmarting me.”
Four grunts as Legend pulls off of him. He sits up, dusting off his back- it’s going to be covered with grass stains and burrs that will suck to get out. He hopes that bruise hurts Legend in the morning.
“Fine- next round, no weapons, no swords. Fists only.”
“You’re on, shortstack.”
The kitchen is quiet. This shouldn’t be novel to Time. The ranch is normally quiet, a softness in the air broken only by the sounds of horses and cows outside. But Time isn’t often home lately, and when he is, his brothers are around. Up to something, complaining about another thing, even just snoring.
Outside, he can faintly hear a sparring match go on. Twilight and Warriors are leaving through the front door- wanting to check on the horses, they said. Sky and Wind are dozing off.
There is noise, but it is subdued.
It is peaceful.
Malon is in front of him, humming as she washes the last dish from their lunch. She slapped away all of their offers to help, telling them to rest while they have the chance.
The afternoon sun shines through the open window, a soft breeze fluttering the curtains and her hair.
Time has seen all over his Hyrule, his not-Hyrule, been all over time on multiple occasions.
He can confidently say he’s never seen anything more beautiful than this.
He steps forwards, bringing his arms around her waist and resting his head on her shoulder to peek over. He hasn’t put his armor on since they arrived the day before. His shirtsleeves are rolled up, bare skin pressing into his wife’s arms.
“I’m glad you’re doing okay,” he murmurs into her neck. It says all he can bring himself to say. Everything he knows he doesn’t have time to say before this brief moment of rest is gone and they’re back on the road, back fighting stronger and stronger monsters, back to where he has such little control over keeping his brothers safe. He loves them. He loves Malon. He feels so small all the time.
Wet hands run over his forearms, “you’re keeping those boys safe. I’m glad you’re keeping yourself safe as well.” She says. It’s all she has time to say in response.
The dishes set in the sink, some drying off to the side. They’ll lay there a little longer and be all the same for it. For this short moment, he has the sun on his skin and his wife in his arms, her hair tickling his nose as he slowly breathes in and out.
In and out.
He reaches for a plate and feels her hand slap his, and he lets it push his down. She turns in his arms, crossing hers across her chest as he chuckles. “I told you not to help.”
“When have I ever listened to you?”
“All the time! You listen to me all the time because you know I’m right.”
“You’re right.”
She leans into him, folding against him gently. “I love you.”
“I love you.”
The floor in the kitchen is old. There’s a deep gouge, carved there when he was first welcomed into the Lon’s home. He carried his sword at his side always then, and Talon had dropped something in the other room, he’d flinched and unsheathed his sword while he was helping get something out of a lower cabinet and- well, it had taken Malon nearly an hour to help him calm down. She was patient all the while.
In the doorway to the farm, there’s a chunk taken out that leaks in cool air in the winter. Him and Malon had left the door open; it was spring and the air was nice. They’d returned from tending the horses, stepped into the living room, and one of the cows was standing at the base of the stairs, looking up at where Talon was standing, frozen in confusion. It’d taken the three of them to get the cow back outside, and the door frame wasn’t the only casualty of its horns and hooves.
They have only a few knives; last time he and the chain had arrived, Malon ended up teaching Legend and Wild how to throw knives. Half had broken on the side of the house, where there were still deep marks.
There’s a rug under the table, one Time bought for Malon and Talon as an apology when he’d panicked one night and left without warning. He’d come back three weeks later, tail between his legs and Epona laden with Gerudo textiles, Gordon tools, and Kakariko spices. They welcomed him back easily, though Malon told him to at least say goodbye if he needed to stretch his legs. She had tears in her eyes when she saw him crest the horizon, and Time hasn’t left like that since.
He rubs her back for a moment. He can see out the window better with the new angle. Legend has his sword at Four’s neck, and the look on Four’s face spells trouble. He reaches forwards and closes the curtains, pushing Malon against the counter as he does so. She grins up at him, “you have something to say?”
He grins back down, “nothing at all.” He reaches for a bowl, just out of her line of sight.
When she pushes him away from the counter, he goes easily, laughing all the while.
The horses are happy to see them.
They let Warriors pet them, let Twilight slip them an apple or two, and don't flinch as they move past a blind spot.
They’re good horses.
The barn is quiet, the stable’s hinges well maintained, so even moving between them makes only a little sound.
Warriors pets a chestnut mare, cooing the embarrassing things you only say to an animal under his breath. He hopes Twilight can’t hear, that he’s been lying about maintaining some of his advanced hearing while in his hylian form. From his growing smirk, he’s been honest.
Warriors steps away from the horse, moving to the wall now, looking over the bridle options. Twilight lets him pick for the two of them, making his way over to look outside. The ranch has a wide open field in the center, with posts and a tiny string of fencing across it to practice jumping.
Assuming Twilight has the same idea as him, he grabs two saddles and begins to tack up the sweet mare he was petting and a hefty stallion for Twilight.
When he is finished, he passes the reins over and leads the mare outside. Twilight follows, and the stallion goes easily. Malon and Time were excellent at raising horses- all sure-footed and trusting.
“So, you keep saying you’re good at riding.” Twilight calls as he hops up the saddle.
Warriors climbs on his own mare, hoping his awkward adjustments aren’t too noticeable- it’s been awhile since he’s ridden. Not long enough to not be good, but enough for his movements to be much less fluid and instinctual than Twilight’s.
He really hopes Twilight didn’t see.
Looking out at the pasture, Warriors shoots Twilight a grin. “Want to make a bet?”
Twi snorts, “what is it with soldiers and betting?”
He shrugs in return and nudges his horse forwards, “passes the time. And makes things interesting.”
“What’s the bet?”
“Fifty rupees to whoever can jump the most posts in a minute?”
Twilight spurs his horse into a gallop, laughing, “you’re on.”
“Sky, there is no way I haven’t taught you Hornswoggle.” Wind mutters as he shuffles his cards.
In response, Sky rubs at his eyes, trying to blink himself into wakefulness. “I don’t think you have, you only taught us- uh, what was it called? Spot-something.”
“Black Spot is a perfectly respectful game, but it’s got nothing on Hornswoggle. One round of it can last hours- Tetra told me it once took her and the crew three days to declare a victor. Though, they had to take breaks to take care of the ship and stuff.” Wind begins setting cards out, separating them into innocuous piles. He reaches into his pocket, and scrunches his face before groaning. “Fuck, I left the chips and stones in my bag. I’ll be right back.”
He’s off before Sky can stop him, off towards one of the spare rooms Malon has loaned to them while they stay.
Sky fights the urge to lay back down, knowing that’s all it will take to fall back into the warmth of the nap. The door in the kitchen opens, and he hears the tell-tale sound of a grumbling Legend. Four must have won their sparring match, then.
The two stop in the kitchen, opening cabinets and generally making noise. Sky keeps his eyes open, trying to get their noise to wake him all the way up. They make their way into the living room, and Four takes one look at the random piles of cards and says, “oh, are you playing Hornswoggle? Can I join?”
Wind takes that moment to reenter, grinning, “yeah! We haven’t started yet, I’ll deal you in. Legend, you want to play as well?”
Legend shrugs and takes a bite of bread- that was probably the clattering around in the kitchen then- and sits on the couch, ruffling Wind’s hair as he goes, “you’ll have to re-explain the rules. It’s been a while since you taught me.”
“Don’t worry, it’s Sky’s first time, so maybe you won’t lose as badly.” Wind snips out as he begins setting piles of the game chips and stones out- they’re all different colors, reds blues yellows greens- Sky is beginning to think he’s in over his head.
Wind claps his hands, “okay, so now that everything is set up, I can explain the rules. The game is pretty simple-”
The door opens again, Wars and Twi moving through the kitchen to interrupt Wind as they step into the room. Twilight has fresh grass stains on his knees and a disgruntled expression.
They take in the sight before them, and Twilight groans, “I am not playing this after last time.”
Wind gasps, “but you almost won!”
“It was more painful than my adventure, Wind.”
Warriors just grins, “if you haven’t started, I would love to join. This is Hornswoggle, right?”
Wind nods and collects the cards and other game pieces, beginning the setup process again.
Sky just lays back into the couch and presses his palms into his closed eyes. “How does everyone know this game except me?”
Warriors ruffles his hair and dodges his returning swat before taking a seat on the ground next to Wind, “you probably fell asleep the night Wind taught us a bunch of card games. Do you remember me explaining my version of poker?”
It sounds familiar, but not enough to recount any rules. “Maybe?”
Legend laughs, “yeah, you were probably out by then. We played late into the night.”
Sky wants to defend his honor (even if he probably was asleep, it’s the principle of the matter. Especially when everyone is safe and comfortable- that’s when the real bickering starts), but Twilight speaks up, “are Wild and Hyrule still out exploring?”
Everyone looks around, as if the two of them were in the room unnoticed, and Sky says, “I haven’t seen them since they left this morning.”
“They’re probably lost.” Legend’s tone is annoyed, but the pinch to his eyebrows gives away his concern. They can handle themselves, but the worry is still there. They aren’t immune to accidentally starting some little side quest, and Sky does not want a repeat of three weeks ago, when the rest of them had to go chasing after them as they tried to complete a fetch-quest for a storefront owner.
It was a long day.
“I’ll go find them. Wild wanted to help Malon with dinner tonight, anyways.”
Twilight is out the door before Warriors can finish his comment on Twi’s dog-senses helping him in his search.
The strangest part of transforming into a wolf is that he always wishes he had his other form’s senses when he is in the other. When he’s human, he wishes he has the smell and hearing he gets when he transforms. The way he can sneak through a forest with ease. When he’s in wolf form, he wishes his vision was better, that people didn’t cower at first sight of him. Even now, after months of the others knowing about Wolfie, some of his brothers flinch if he sneaks up on them.
There is something to be said, however, about being deep in the thickest part of the woods and able to move soundlessly.
Sneaking up on Wild and Hyrule like this is just icing on the cake.
They’re sitting next to a small stream, with some fairies fluttering around.
He can only see their backs, and while his color-vision is all wrong, his sense of smell makes it very clear they are covered in berry juice. There is the unmistakable smell of sugar as well, which clears up why it seemed like the stable was low.
Padding forwards, his ears twitch as Wild recounts to the fairy in his hands his adventure in the berry bush nearby. He huffs, a loud sound in the relative quiet of the forest, and the fairies scatter.
Hyrule and Wild both jump, spinning around to face him. Hyrule has a dagger pointed at him, while Wild’s hands are at his side, ready to grab the slate.
Upon seeing him, Wild relaxes, “Wolfie, come on. You scared us.”
He huffs again, and the relaxed shoulders tense right back up, “are we in trouble? It hasn’t been that long.” Wild looks up, squinting through the branches at the sky.
Hyrule follows his gaze, tucking his knife back into his boot. “You were struggling with that bush for a while.”
“Was I?” The question is directed at Hyrule, and Twilight finds himself getting bored. He steps towards Wild and gently takes his hand in his maw, pulling him away from the stream. Wild follows easily; he did this often when Wild first woke up, guiding him how his instincts told him to while he was forced to remain in his wolf form. He is still grateful Wild’s master sword turned him back, and brought his shadow crystal back to him.
Hyrule pads softly behind them, and Twilight decides to ignore the sound of him trying to sneakily eat the sugar cubes behind his back. He drops Wild’s hand once he’s sure they’re following, and leads them back to the ranch.
Legend adjusts his position on the pillow he is sitting on, staring down at his hand. It’s hard to say if victory is secured for him right now, he’s not familiar enough with the game and Wind looks both very smug and very wary of Four.
The growing pile of colorful stones in front of Four makes Legend target Four on his next turn, able to take some of the stones. He picks out three of the red ones and two of the yellow ones. Wind huffs and glares at him; his turn is after Warriors, so hopefully he won’t remember to target him by then with this new lead.
Four, however, is mad. He’s cursing at Legend now, eyes flashing a distinct blue.
Legend snorts, “no wonder you’re losing, letting Blue be in charge right now. Where’s Vio, too scared he’s going to lose to me that they’ve already given up?”
Four leaps over the corner of the table separating them, held back by Sky’s hands. His eyes flash between purple and blue, and Legend continues to laugh.
A door down the hallways creaks open, and everyone gets very quiet as Time and Malon enter. Four sits down quickly, eyes shifting into a bashful red as he quickly apologizes, “sorry, Miss Malon for being loud.”
Knowing Four’s secret has been a game-changer in understanding Four. However, even knowing how sincere Red can be, Legend has to wonder if he’s playing up his kindness at times to win people over. After all, Red is only one part of Four, and all of Four is conniving.
Malon, however, takes it in stride and laughs, “now, I’ve told you all not to call me miss. I’m not that old,” she nudges Time, and makes her way to an open spot on the floor, Time following at her side.
The two of them sit and Time speaks up, “Malon is interested in the game, from what I was able to remember when she asked what had you all so heated out here.”
“I’m going to kick all of your asses,” she says with a smile. “How do you play?”
Wind starts shouting about Time being a hypocrite, because he doesn’t correct Malon’s language. Legend just places his cards face down and leans back, resting his head on the couch behind him. It will take a while to explain the rules and deal the two of them in (people can join mid game, but only in even numbers), and he takes the moment to drink everything in.
His moment of rest doesn’t last long, however. Wind is barely halfway through the rules before Malon lets out a soft “ohh,” she glances around the table and squints at the stones and poker-like chips piled up. “This is basically Windrow of Bushel, right?”
She looks up at Time who laughs, “I think you’re right. No wonder I hated the game last time we played.”
Malon laughs, “he’s awful at Windrow of Bushel. I’m amazing at it. Let's go.”
The door in the kitchen opens right as she says that, and Legend can’t stop his head from whipping towards the sound. He wasn’t nervous about how long Hyrule and Wild were gone, but he certainly wasn’t happy about it. As the two enter the room, covered in… hopefully berry juice and followed by Wolfie, his shoulders relax. For no reason, of course.
Wild perks up as soon as he sees the table and squeezes in next to Sky, leaving room for Wolfie to flop down beside him. Twi faces Four however, who quickly shows him his cards.
Wind huffs and begins to deal Wild in, looking up at Hyrule, “I assume you’re playing, otherwise Wild can’t join.”
Hyrule takes in the table, memories of the last time the group played this clearly flashing across his face. Legend snorts, “come on,” he pats the spot next to him on the floor, pushing Warriors to the side and forcing him to scoot next to him so they can make room for Hyrule. “I’ll help you.”
Wind looks up from the piles he’s sorting, “no cheating!”
Lifting a snitching finger, Hyrule points at where Wolfie is nudging a card in Four’s hand. “Tell that to those two.” Four quickly puts his cards down, hands going up in the universal “I’m innocent” pose. As if Four was innocent of anything, ever.
Hyrule takes his seat next to Legend, and he’s still chilled from the outside temperature. The sun is beginning to get low, and it is getting to the colder months. He’s warming up quickly, the lack of space around the table forcing him to be pressed against Legend’s arm.
He wonders at that, in the moment before the game picks back up. Months ago- or however long ago it was when this stupid journey started- Legend would have pushed Hyrule away. Hylia, he never would have told Hyrule to sit next to him. He wouldn’t have allowed himself to become so close to any of them, these people he now calls his brothers.
The game continues on, starting with Hyrule’s turn, as he is the newest player. When Hyrule targets him immediately, Legend lets out an indignant shout, but he can’t fight the smile pulling at his mouth.
Even if he loses the game horribly, he’s okay with that. He’s having fun. The cards are solid in his hands, and the stones are warm from being passed around hand-to-hand so frequently. The living room is filled with laughter and shouting, and everything is real.
He is here, his brothers are at his side, and he is awake.
Time lets himself zone out of the game. It’s late into the night, and Wild has to nudge Sky awake each time it’s his turn to play.
His brothers are taking the game as seriously as any of their missions, and his wife is at his side, grinning.
He feels happy, and safe.
For the second time in his life, Link sends a prayer up to Hylia.
Thank you, for these little rests. Thank you for my family.

Chapter 8: A new type of Enemy
Continued from Chapter 7. Based on @jojo56830's Linked Universe.
Chapter 8: A new type of Enemy
Suddenly, the Shadow Beast jumped out of the shadows towards the group, and Wolfie jumped infront of them to protect them. There was a few seconds of beastly snarling, then the wolf became a hylian, with his sword and shield at the ready. “I may need some help here Link.” Said the Hylian that just transformed from the wolf. Link was taken aback for a moment, but then quickly regained his composure as he understood the request.
“Alright. Let’s kill this thing. Whatever it is.” The battle was fierce, with the monster taking on different forms and attacking from all angles, using a heavy assortment of weapons. But Link and Wolfie worked together seamlessly, anticipating each other's moves and covering each other's blind spots.
At one point, the Shadow Beast lunged towards Zelda, but Link jumped in front of her, wielding his sword to deflect the attack. Meanwhile, new Link circled around and attacked the monster from behind, causing it to stumble.
As they fought, Link couldn't help but feel a sense of familiarity with this guy's fighting style. He realized that Wolfie,or wherever this guy is,has something in common with him.
Together, the two Links continued to fight the Shadow Beast with all their might, determined to protect Zelda from its wrath. Eventually, nobody was getting anywhere, so the Shadow monster fled.
Weakened, they decided to set up a campsite right there next to the Rito Village. No one spoke for a while, but eventually the silence was too much, and Zelda asked, “Where are you from?”
After a brief second of thought, Link replied, “Faron. Ordon Village. Not now. Not this place in time”
“I know Faron. But Ordon Village? That’s not on my map.” Link said, looking at his map on the Sheikah Slate.
“Yes,” Link nodded. “I was a rancher there, until my friends got kidnapped.”
Link raised an eyebrow. “I’m sorry to hear that. But you also gave me a nickname for you, Rancher”
Rancher’s eyes squinted in a thoughtful expression. "Okay then. What were you before your adventure?"
“I was the Hylian Champion, the Princess’s personal guard.”
“Alright, Champion.”
After a while, Rancher spoke up. "We need to go to the portal. It's west of Rito Village."
Link looked at him in surprise. "You know what's on the other side?"
Rancher nodded. "Yeah. My Hyrule is on the other side. I've been through that portal before, and I have a feeling that it might lead us to some answers."
Zelda spoke up, her voice hesitant. "But it's too dangerous, isn't it? We don't know what's on the other side, or what we might encounter."
The Champion turned to her. "I understand your concern, Your Highness. But I believe that this is something that we need to do. And it's too risky for you to come with us. You should go back home to Hateno Village and stay there until I return."
Zelda's face fell, but she nodded reluctantly. "Very well. Please be careful, both of you."
At that, The Rancher decided to give them some privacy. From what he could see, The Champion pulled her into a tight embrace, kissed the top of her head, and teleported somewhere else right before placing down a big blue circle of light shining through the night. They then warped off somewhere else, becoming a blue substance and then dissipating. After a few seconds, The Champion reappeared on the blue circle looking kind of sad.
The Champion and The Rancher set off toward the black portal, their minds filled with questions and uncertainty. As they walked, Rancher spoke up again. "So, Champion, tell me more about you."

He Asks You to Dance Part 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Masterlist
Part 1
The yearning continues with part 2!
It will include Time, Hyrule and Twilight!
Content under the cut!
Time
Time decided to take the boys out to town for the Cheese Festival that was being held in Castle Town.
Lon Lon Ranch provided a lot of the dairy products for the festivals so he had the younger ones take them to town with Talon at the helm.
Malon and Talon took their products and dispersed while the boys scattered across the town.
Some went straight to the food while others (the younger ones) went straight for the still being set up games.
Time steps away to help Malon and Talon while they set up their own booth and hope to all and any who listen to his prayers that the boys don’t do too much property damage.
With the job done and him being released from his volunteer work, he begins to walk around the town.
He sees the same booths set up as always, it’s still early but there’s already children out and about any playing in the streets.
He sees the musicians out in the square tuning their instruments and beginning to find a nice rhythm amongst themselves as they plan their set up.
He grins and watches them for a minute.
For a moment after they situate themselves, they begin to play a little tune to keep the children entertained before the games are set up.
Some of the more love sick couples instantly begin to dance with each other and swaying and spinning as the kids go crazy around the band.
Time laughs at some of the more rambunctious ankle biters and looks a bit longingly at the couples. It seems nice- to have some one to sway with.
He goes around town to check in the boys and make sure that they’re all having a good time.
Hours pass before he knows it. All of them had cornered him when he checked to see how they were and he was forced encouraged to join them in the festivities. So he took longer than he thought he would in order to find everyone.
It’s the most fun he thinks he’s had at the festival in a while.
He feels breathless and a little more tired than he usually would be at this time, but he’s happy.
He still has one more person to find though and it’s beginning to get dark.
He- frankly- has no idea where you might be.
You were with the group when you all first arrived but you seemed to have separated yourself from the other heroes and have hidden yourself away.
Time keeps up the search, trying to not let himself become too concerned. The town is a safe place and everyone can find their way around easily enough and there’s the plan to meet up at the front entrance of the town when everything is over to head back with Malon and Talon to the ranch.
He finds you by the entrance actually.
You’re standing alone, looking up at the sky with your arms crossed and looking.... well you don’t look as happy as he was hoping if he was being honest with himself.
He clears his throat and you jump at the sound. He puts on a gentle smile and holds his hand out to you. “Would you care to dance?”
He doesn’t know why he says that.
There are a lot of things that he could have probably addressed first but he says that instead.
You sniffle a bit and clearly try to laugh but it’s a bit more weak than what he could tell you were aiming for.
“A dance?” You rub your eye.
“If you’re willing.” He shrugs and keeps his hand out.
You smile and reach for him.
He takes your hand in his and pulls you close to him- the sound of the laughter and music being subtle enough to still hear clearly but not be over bearing.
“Have you danced before?” You ask him as begins to slowly lead you to the beat.
“Once or twice.” He admits and spins you around.
The song begins to go a little faster, and a little faster and soon Time has you practically flying on your feet to keep up.
He doesn’t stop even after the song ends until your laughing wholly and completely.
He considers it a job well done.
Hyrule
Hyrule had never seen anything like it!
There were so many people- so many kids and foods and a good mood all around.
Hyrule didn’t know what to do with himself and he’s sure that showed on his face.
Four and Legend seemed to take mercy on him and took it upon themselves to lead him around and show him what a time of peace has to offer.
It was so much fun. Different. But fun.
Night had fallen before he knew it and there wasn’t a single thing that Hyrule hadn’t tried the entire time he was there. Between the game, the food and the daytime events, Hyrule could say that this was a tiring but very satisfying day.
Until he saw you, that is.
He broke off from the group he had made for himself and approached you.
You didn’t seem to match the good mood.
“Hey.” Hyrule poked your shoulder when he got close enough. “Everything ok?”
You gasped and went to rub your face harshly before turning to face him. “Hyrule, you scared me. Are you having fun? This is your first festival right?”
He nodded and tried to study you despite the low light.
You looked like you were crying.
“That’s good. You should enjoy yourself, you deserve it.” You smiled and clasped your hands behind your back.
It looked forced.
“You should enjoy it too.” Hyrule said.
“Oh I- I’m ok, really. I’m just watching. I’m ok.”
The music started up a bit in the background and Hyrule was hit with a small idea. Hyrule held his hand out and smiled as gently as he could. “Just one dance?”
“Hyrule-”
“Dance with me.” He smiled wider.
He didn’t know what was bothering you but he wanted to help at least in the little way that he could.
“Hyrule.” You sighed. “I can’t dance.”
“And you think I can?” He laughed.
You giggled a bit at his reaction and thought about it some more. He could see you bite your lip and hesitate so he waited patiently.
With slightly trembling hands, you placed yours in his own and he pulled you away from the shadows and spun you around quickly before leading you in whatever way the music took your both.
Sooner than he anticipated, you had begun laughing and had managed to make his laugh as well when you spun around for one turn.
At some point you both gave up trying to have any cohesive dance and had just spun around together in a tight circle, going fast and fast to the beat of the music until your nearly fell over each other.
The two of you laughed loudly and without restraint and soon, too soon, the next song had started before you could even fully catch your breath and it was you who grabbed Hyrule by the hands to begin to spinning around like tops on a marble floor.
It was probably the most fun Hyrule had had in his entire life. He hopes to see you smile like that again and it warms him up slightly to know that he was the one to do it.
Twilight
Twilight sighed as a calm washed over his system. Ordon Village didn’t get to have parties often but this was a special week.
It was a long winded story about spring and winter and death and new beginnings that Twilight never make heads or tails of but it was a celebration of hope and good times ahead.
The kids had managed to wrap his new friends into their games and crafts and their wasn’t a single one of them that wasn’t doing something with their time. It was a weird break for Twilight in this moment- he didn’t need to watch the kids and he wasn’t expected to help out with preparations so he could just walk around and relax.
But he wasn’t inclined to do that.
Instead he went looking for you.
Just as the festivities were about to begin he noticed there were some tracks that led just beyond the village borders.
A bit concerned, he followed them and found you standing against a tree with your arms crossed- seemingly deep in thought.
“Rupee for your thoughts?” Twilight blurted before he could really think about what he wanted to say.
You startled back into the present and sent him a small look. “Hello Twilight.”
Twilight looked back to the village, taking into account the dimming light and lantern and the glow that seemed to be reminiscent on your face and body.
You looked beautiful.
Twilight gulped and held out his hand without much to say except, “Care to dance?”
You snorted loudly, and Twilight couldn’t help but feel a little silly. He know didn’t why he said that or what he thought he would accomplish by it.
“Can you read minds?” You say instead and put your hand in his. It startles him for moment- how soft your skin is and how you fit almost perfectly into his grasp. “I needed to hear that.”
Twilight swallows the lump forming in his throat and pulls you closer. The music had just begun and Twilight can swear he hears the Old Man joining in with whatever instrument Legend has at the helm.
He pulls you along to the beat and side steps to avoid the branches and awkwardly protrude roots around you two.
The sun is has set over the horizon, the sky a gorgeous gradient of oranges to purples and blues.
You smile contently and spin yourself around on a daring step that takes Twilight by surprise.
It was so fluid- so effortless and graceful that his breath gets caught in his throat as he watches you enjoy yourself and his company.
Twilight swallows again- harshly and grins.
He likes this side of you.

When you lose your sword... panic?
This idea was concocted from a conversation with @gintrinsic-writing and Just_Bonesy :)
CW: blood, gore, violence
Twilight is not the best fighter of the group by any means, that title goes to Sky or Warriors, or possibly Wild when he isn’t setting the battlefield on fire. It’s clear which of them have had professional training and who hasn’t; where Sky moves with precise elegance, Hyrule fights with almost desperate brawl. Where Warriors parrys and jabs with meticulously calculated technique, Legend’s style is rather a brutish scuffle. But while the professional soldiers of the group have the upper hand while fighting with swords, there are certain situations where those who have learned exclusively from their own wits and experience come out on top.
Take now, for example, as Twilight faces three lizalfos head on. His sword is in the ditch somewhere having flown out of his hand a few moments ago courtesy of an unsuspecting swipe from his blind spot, and he has no other weapons on him. The others aren’t in any position to be helping him, they have their own battles to fight; the waves of enemies are approaching fast.
The lizalfos on the right comes at him first, swinging sword glinting maliciously, and Twilight jumps into action, light and sturdy on his feet. He lets his adrenaline run wild and his most animalistic instincts kick in, and he lets out a snarl, baring his teeth in battle-fuelled rage. He doesn’t dodge backwards away from the first swipe, he lunges towards it seemingly heedlessly so that instead of being hit by the blade, he’s struck with the inside of the beast’s elbow. It stumbles slightly in surprise and Twilight uses the opening to grab its wrist and turn it forcefully clockwise, hearing a couple of bones in its hand crack. In his mid-battle high, they might as well be twigs snapping beneath his palms. It lets out a pig-like squeal but doesn’t drop its sword – Twilight is forcing its hand to keep its grip underneath his own.
It’s a struggle, but he manages to turn it enough that the wrist too snaps beneath its scaly skin and the sword plunges into its own stomach with a little added force. Twilight shoves it away with excessive strength and it falls to the ground, unmoving, dark red pooling beneath its body, congealing with the grit and mud in a viscous concoction of its own defeat. Twilight staggers slightly from the momentum of the push, his knuckle scraping painfully along the floor, and the next lizalfos takes the small opportunity to grab him in a steel headlock.
He doesn’t hesitate as he turns his head to the side with sudden force and uses his entire weight to pull on the arm that holds him. It gives way immediately, almost too easily, and he twists his body, the lizalfos hand with it, until he’s in a position to shove it to the ground alongside its companion. He finishes it off with five kicks to the head, the tiny, fragile bones of its face shattering beneath his worn, blood-splattered boot.
There’s one left now, weaponless, and Twilight can feel it’s hesitance, it’s eyes flickering to it’s fallen comrades with what Twilight would like to think of as nervousness. Good. A hesitant opponent means it’s more likely to make mistakes, more chance of openings for a kill. Still, there’s strange determination in its cold, reptilian eyes when it runs at full speed towards him, and it’s almost a shame that it lasts as little time as it does.
Twilight squats in preparation, and as it reaches him, claws outstretched in front of it, muscular tail poised for attack, he manages to grip it around the underside of its arm with one hand and the scraps of its tunic in the other, and then pulls with all his might. It goes flying over his shoulder with more momentum than Twilight had expected, and he feels its neck crack as it tumbles to the ground behind him.
He straightens up, eyes roving over each of his three enemies to confirm that they are indeed still motionless, and rubs the dust off his hands contentedly before turning around, coming face to face with Wind, a fierce look in his sea-blue eyes.
“Show me how to do that,” the sailor demands, the pointy end of his sword pointing straight at him. Twilight takes a step back, startled.
“What?” he asks. The others are coming to the end of their respective fights and seem not to have noticed the gruesome brawl that went down only seconds ago.
“That.” Wind waves the sword to the place the third dead Lizalfos lies, “The thing you did with the twirly arm where you threw that guy over your shoulder.”
“The one arm shoulder throw?” Twilight questions, parroting the name Rusl had taught him all those years ago when his mentor used to beat him every time they sparred.
“I don’t care what it’s called! Just show me!”
So he does, later, when they’ve set up camp and the others are doing their own thing elsewhere, either practicing their own fighting or foraging resources for their journey. Twilight has had experience teaching hand-to-hand combat to the children of Ordon – it’s strongly believed in the village that children should learn to fight as soon as they are able, and not everyone can afford swords – and he is pleased, but unsurprised, that Wind has the enthusiasm of all of the village children put together. He is also considerably more competent at listening and picking up the moves (again, not altogether surprising considering he defeated Ganon at the tender age of twelve) and he manages to learn a good few techniques in just a couple of hours.
“This is fun,” Wind grins, looking down at him as Twilight picks himself off the floor having just been taken down for the umpteenth time, on this occasion with a solid kick to the back of his left knee. Hylia help them all if Wind grows any bigger, who knew his skinny legs held such brute strength.
“Hey Captain!” Wind shouts to Warriors who is walking into the clearing carrying a stack of logs, an axe on his back, “you wanna spar? Twi taught me some new moves.”
“Sure, Sailor,” he replies, dropping the logs into a neat pile by their camp and swapping the axe for his sword, “don’t go too hard on me,” he grins good-naturedly, clearly not noticing the mischievous glint in Wind’s eyes. Wind picks up his own sword and they get into their respective stances, eyeing each other from across the small clearing. Wind waits for Warriors to swing first, at which point he tosses his sword to the ground beside him.
“Wait, wha-“ Warriors manages to get out mid-swing before Wind is careening towards him and grabbing his wrist in the way Twilight taught him. Twilight is proud to see he executes the move perfectly, twisting Warriors’ wrist towards him and immediately sending him to the ground, sword and all.
“Holy mother of FUCK!” Warriors shouts, clutching his wrist in obvious pain, his sword lying some few metres away. Twilight hopes Wind didn’t break anything.
“What next, Twi?” Wind asks cheerily as the captain rolls around at his feet.
“Now you kick him in the balls,” Twilight informs him.
“WAIT, NO! STOP, I SURRENDER!” Warriors pleads, and Twilight gives Wind a wink before going over to help Warriors up, grasping his good hand and pulling him to his feet.
“Where in Hylia’s name did you learn to fight like that?” Warriors asks him, clutching his wrist to his chest.
“Rusl taught me some of it,” he replies, “some I learned from just being on the road, and some of it’s stuff I learned from goat wrangling.”
The Captain considers him for a moment, clearly impressed.
“You think you could teach that to everyone?”
So that’s how Twilight finds himself standing in front of a scene that might be even more chaotic than when he was teaching Colin and his friends hand-to-hand. In his defence, he’s almost certain it’s not his teaching skills that are to blame; goat wrangling is nothing compared to herding these supposedly ‘respectable’ holders of the triforce of courage.
Wind successfully managed to take down Time before the lesson even started, and he now sits next to him, sheepishly holding some ice from Legend’s ice rod over the old man’s nose while the latter glares stonily into the distance. Behind them, Warriors has Legend in a headlock and Twilight almost chuckles at the distinctly rodent-like way Legend is trying to squirm out of it, punching every square inch of torso he can reach.
Four’s eyes flash blue-green as he gleefully pulls Sky down to his own height by the clump of hair he mercilessly has clenched in one fist, and Hyrule and Wild are hanging upside-down from a tree (though Twilight is pretty sure that has nothing to do with the lesson at hand).
All learned technique has gone out the window. Scratch that, it’s left the Goddessdamned kingdom. Though, Twilight supposes, that was kind of the point in the first place. Besides, Wind has fully mastered the one arm shoulder throw considering the way Time landed face first in the mud like a sack of potatoes not so long ago and Warriors has lost his usual stringency that so often prevents him from improvising in tight spots. All in all, they’re not doing too badly, and he fancies next time they find themselves up against an enemy without a weapon, they’ll be considerably more prepared. Rusl would be proud.

__________________________________________
Admittedly, it wasn't one of Wild's brightest ideas.
The group had landed in Twilight's Hyrule, where they quickly dispatched a small cluster of bokoblins that were lurking a little too close to Ordon Village.
Most of the heroes were content relaxing in the village, but Wild was getting antsy.
Sure, playing with the kids from the village was fun, but Wild was itching to go out and explore.
He noticed Wind sitting off to the side, mindlessly fidgeting with his telescope.
Normally, Wind would be chasing around the children in the village and dazzling them with pirate stories, not sitting off to the side by himself.
Wild suddenly realized that it had been well over a month since they were last at Outset Island.
Wild frowned. It wasn't often that Wild felt homesick, but occasionally he found himself missing the openness of his Hyrule, and the company of his friends.
He could only imagine how it was for Wind, who was still a kid and who had a family waiting for him.
An idea suddenly struck Wild. He smirked as he made his way towards the sailor.
"Oh, hey Wild, what's up" Wind greeted when he saw the champion approach him.
Wild leaned over slightly. "Have you ever heard of shield surfing?"
Wind gave Wild a puzzled look before an impish smile started to form.
"No...but it sounds fucking awesome," he chirped.
Wild chuckled. He turned to see who was around. The only one nearest them was Sky.
Wild gave a quick whistle to get his attention.
"Wind and I are going to go for a walk," Wild said as he gestured to just outside the village.
Sky narrowed his eyes slightly, and Wild was worried that maybe he would 'pull a Twilight' and tell him they couldn't go.
"Just don't get into too much trouble," Sky said with a grin.
"Yes!!" Wind cheered as he jumped up from where he was sitting.
Sky immediately regretted his decision when he saw Wild's mischievous smile, but the two were already running out towards the forest before he could protest.
"So, what exactly is shield surfing?" Wind asked when they were out of sight of the village.
"Well, basically, you take a shield, stand on top of it, and ride it down a hill."
"You ride your shield down hills?" Wind blurted.
"I mostly do it on mountains. The snow makes me go faster, and it doesn't damage my shield as quickly, but I have done it going down grassy hills."
Wind laughed. "Hylia above, you're fuckin' crazier than me,"
Wild tilted his head slightly, "Language..." he ribbed.
Wind just scoffed. "Yeah, ok, old man," he jibed.
After walking for about 20 minutes, Wild found a suitable hill to shield surf down.
Wind was about to ask where they would find a pair of shields but stopped when he saw Wild reach for his sheikah slate.
Sometimes he forgot that Wild could carry nearly limitless amounts of items in that slate.
Wild tapped the slate, and two knight's shields materialized in glowing, blue tendrils.
"Those shields look nice. Are you sure you want to use them?" Wind questioned.
Wild just waved him off. "I have better shields. Besides, these are longer, so it should make it easier for you to balance on."
------------------------------------------------------
Unsurprising to Wild, Wind was a quick learner. It only took a couple of tries before the sailor had shield surfing down.
It didn't take Wind long to set his sights on something more challenging.
"Let's ride down that hill!" Wind grinned as he pointed to a much larger, steeper hill in the distance.
Wild hummed, uncertain if he should give in. The hill in question was probably another 30 minutes walk from where they were, and Wild wasn't sure he should let Wind tackle such a steep hill right off the bat.
"Awe, come on Wild!" Wind pleaded. "Please! We won't stay long."
Wild sighed. Goddesses, he was a softie.
Wind let out a celebratory cheer, and he started jogging towards their new destination.
------------------------------------------------------
"I don't know about this," Wild cautioned. Not only was the hill steeper than he first thought, but the grass was almost knee-high, making it harder to spot logs and rocks.
"Just let me try once," Wind pleaded.
Wild sighed again. This must be what Twilight feels like whenever Wild decided to go do something reckless.
The hill did look like it could be a lot of fun...
"Ok, one time. Just be careful. There's no telling what's hiding underneath the grass."
"This is gonna be awesome!" Wind cheered as he started running up the hill.
Once at the top Wild looked around to find what looked like the safest area to surf down.
After settling on a spot, Wild got on his shield. "I'll go first," he insisted. He would much rather test the path first to see if there was any debris hiding in the grass.
"What difference does it make if you hit a rock or if I hit a rock?" Wind groaned, slightly annoyed that Wild was babying him.
"The difference is I have done this countless times and know how to react when I hit something," Wild countered. "You haven't. The guys would kill me if I let you get hurt."
Wind scoffed but decided not to push the issue further.
Wild jumped on his shield and took off down the hill.
Wind watched at how effortlessly Wild cut through the long grass, amazed at how fast he was traveling.
Once Wild made it to the bottom of the hill, he turned around and gave Wind the thumbs up.
Wind stood carefully on the shield and slowly leaned forward, letting gravity do the work.
He quickly began to pick up speed, and for a brief second Wind almost lost his balance, but he recovered and crouched a little lower.
He felt a sudden flare of joy as he continued to pick up speed.
Wind thought this must be what it feels like to fly as he continued to race down the hill.
Wind decided to test his luck and leaned a little to the right to see if he could get the shield to turn.
Sure enough, he started veering towards the right.
What he failed to realize was that he had created a new path, one that Wild did not test out first.
It really shouldn't have come as a surprise that he ended up crashing into a rock.
The collision caused the back of the shield to flip up, launching Wind into the air.
Wind wasn't sure which was up. All he knew is he was tumbling through the air at an alarming rate of speed.
His limbs flailed as he sailed through the air. He felt his right foot collide with the ground and felt a sickening snap as the rest of his weight came crashing down on his ankle.
Wild cursed when he saw Wind get launched off the shield. He started running towards the kid before he even hit the ground.
Wind tucked in on himself as he tumbled the rest of the way down the hill.
He didn't even realize when he stopped because his head was still spinning. It wasn't until he heard Wild shout his name that he dared to open his eyes.
Wild dropped hard to his knees when he reached Wind, his hands ghosting over the sailor, afraid to touch him.
"Are you ok?!" Wild fretted.
"That fucking sucked," Wind groaned, and Wild let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding. At least the kid was conscious.
"I bet it did," Wild scoffed, trying desperately to calm down. "Where are you hurt?"
"Other than my pride," Wind began, which did earn a nervous chuckle from Wild. If he was joking around, he couldn't be that injured.
"I'm pretty sure I broke my ankle." Wind finally admitted.
Wild cursed. "I am so sorry Wind," he began.
"What are you sorry for? This was my fucking idea," Wind argued.
"But I knew this wasn't a good idea," Wild countered as he started searching through his slate.
"It was my fault. I was screwing around on the shield," Wind countered as he slowly sat himself up.
Wild cursed again, and Wind furrowed his brow.
"I'm out of healing elixirs,"
Wind couldn't help but laugh. Of fucking course they wouldn't have any healing potions.
Wild hit a few more buttons on his slate and cursed for the third time.
"What?!" Wind asked.
"I forgot we aren't in my Hyrule," he admitted.
"So we can't teleport," Wind concluded.
Wild nodded. "Are you sure your ankle is the only thing injured? You didn't hit your head or anything?"
"I'm sure I'm going to have a lot of cuts and bruises, but the ankle is the only part injured," Wind assured.
Wild went to pick Wind up when he saw a flash of light reflect off something to his left.
He managed to summon a sword from his slate just in time to turn and block the blade of a dynalfos.
"What the fuck is that?" Wind shouted as he tried (and failed) to stand.
Wild grunted under the monster's strength but managed to push the beast off of him.
He jumped back towards Wind. "I don't know. It almost looks like a lizalfo,"
The monster started to advance towards them.
"You need to hide!" Wild shouted as he prepared to take on the spiked beast.
Wind wanted to protest, but he knew he would only be a distraction to Wild if he stayed where he was.
Wild charged at the oversized lizalfo, slashing at it feverishly with his scimitar.
The monster was well armored and quick, easily blocking Wild's attacks with its shield.
The second it had an opening, it began to swing at Wild with its ax. Wild tried to backflip out of the way, but the dynalfos suddenly spun around, his bladed tail whipping around and slashing Wild across the chest.
Wind felt his heart stop when he saw Wild hit the ground. He promised himself he would never be useless again, but here he was, unable to protect his brother.
He was screaming Wild's name as the dynalfos started walking towards the fallen hero, ax in hand. He attempted to stand, but his leg immediately gave out the second he put pressure on it.
Wild slowly pulled himself up, his one hand clutching at his now bleeding chest.
He rolled over just as the dynalfos readied what would most likely be a fatal attack.
Suddenly, there was a flash of white, and the dynalfos was sent flying through the air.
Wind's eyes went wide. He had no idea where Sky came from, but he was sure he had never been as happy to see him as he was at that moment.
Sky stepped in front of Wild protectively, the Master Sword glowing dangerously in his hand.
Wild and Wind watched as Sky lifted the Master Sword towards the sky, the blade now crackling with accumulating energy.
The second the dynalfos stood, Sky swung the sword down, expelling a slash of energy at the monster, knocking it clean off its feet.
Then, with a quickness Wind rarely saw, Sky dashed towards the fallen monster and lept into the air. He brought the Master Sword down violently, the blade finding a gap in the dynalfos' armor.
The monster let out a howl before it disintegrated into black smoke.
Wind would have cheered at the brilliantly executed attack had he not been completely stunned Sky's sudden appearance.
Sky sheathed the Master Sword as he turned back towards Wild.
He knelt down next to the champion as he took out a red potion from his bag.
"I told you not to get into too much trouble," Sky chided as he helped Wild sit up.
Wild shoved the potion away. "Give it to Wind; he broke his ankle."
Sky gave a worried glance over at Wind, who was still getting over the shock of what he just saw.
Sky pushed the bottle back at Wild, "Lucky for you, I have extras."
Wind finally snapped out of his stupor. "Where...when....how the hell are you even here right now?" Wind sputtered.
Sky scoffed humorously. Once he was satisfied that Wild would be ok, he stood up and made his way towards Wind.
"I had a change of heart," Sky stated as he crouched down and handed Wind a potion.
"Maybe Twilight is rubbing off on me, but I wasn't comfortable leaving you two gremlins out here unsupervised. Turns out I was right."
"I'm not a gremlin," Wild protested as he slowly stood up.
"You're the worst of the bunch!" Sky declared.
Wind rotated his ankle a few times, testing to see if the potion worked.
With Sky's help, he stood up. Even though the bone had healed, his ankle was still tender.
Still, he protested when Sky insisted he climb up on his back, but the chosen hero shot him a look that rivaled even Time's 'dad stares'.
Once he was comfortably situated on Sky's back, the trio slowly made their way back to Ordon.
"What are you going to tell the others?" Wind finally asked.
"That you sprained your ankle looking for herbs with Wild." Sky deadpanned.
"Seriously?!" Wind complained. "That's going to make me sound so fucking lame!"
"Language!" Sky chastised, causing Wind to laugh.
"Seriously though," Sky continued. "Do you want to tell the others what really happened?"
Wild groaned. "Twilight wouldn't let out of his sight ever again."
Wind huffed in frustration. The story Sky came up with was embarrassing enough. Still, he'd rather deal with the embarrassment than deal with Twilight's over-protectiveness or the dad-lecture he would undoubtedly get from Time.
Despite the obvious shit-show the day turned into, Wind genuinely had a great time.
"Hey Wild," he called out. When Wild looked up Wind smiled. "Thanks for cheering me up."

Ancestor’s Legacy
‘So that’s how the hero’s shade lost that horn’  Twilight said as he walked out of the door.
Chapter 1 The Helm
Word count 1,613
3 days earlier
The links were all in a dungeon Legend’s world. All the monsters in that dungeon either had black blood or were surprisingly strong. Luckily enough the links have gotten by these monsters without so much as a paper cut. As they finish off the last lizalfos Wind sees a chest hiding in a corner of the room.
“Look! There’s a chest! Hey Legend, is this the one that holds the key to the next room so we can continue forward?” Wind asks, happy that they will finally be  able to move forward in this dungeon
“Maybe, I don’t know why don’t you check yourself.” Legend states distractedly as he picks up rupees off the floor.
Wind then let out a happy chirp of “ok” and ran off to open the chest only to be stopped by Warriors.
“Hold on we don’t know if it is a trap or not.” states Warriors as he casts a wary glance at the chest, making Wind deflate a bit.
This causes Legend, who just finished picking up the last blue rupee off the floor, to scoff and reply “Please, in this dungeon there are no traps in chests and would probably be empty anyway”
Before Warriors can let out a retort Time cuts in with “Wind you can open it just be careful about it”
Wind perks up again and nods vigorously before running over to the chest. The other links make a loose circle around both the chest and Wind watching curiously about what is in the chest, but also prepared to jump in to help if need be.
As Wind kneels in front of ready to open the chest he takes in how the chest looks now that it is highlighted by twilight’s lamp. The chest is about quite a bit bigger than the master sword and its width looks like it can fit a bokoblins head in it easily. The outside of the chest is a light blue, like the sky on a peaceful day out at sea, with silver accents covering the top and bottom. The ‘lock’ on it was old and rusted that gave way easily. This whole thing must’ve been a masterpiece at one point but when Wind looked at the backside the blue and silver were eroding away with time.
“Well are you going to open it or just sit there staring at it” Legend suddenly snarked, making Wind jump.
Wind then rubbed the back of his head and chuckled nervously before mumbling “Sorry”. The rest of the links betrayed their stoic faces by smirking at the embarrassed Wind.
Wind then started trying to open it up but realized that even though the lock is rusted it is still holding strong. As he was struggling with it Twilight went closer towards Wind and stated “Here let me help you Wind”
Wind then moved out of the way and watched fascinated as Twilight took his Ordon sword and hit it with the lock with the butt of the hilt making the lock break under his strength.
Legend shook his head and said “I still don’t believe that you don’t use magic items or potions to make you freakishly strong.”
Twilight then smirked saying “Believe it or not but it's the truth.” remembering wresting the gorons and taking on the Ordon Goats running at full speed at him.
Wild cut in before Legend could make the same argument that has happened many times before “Sssshhhh! I want to see what’s in the chest!”
Twilight shrugged at the arsonist and Legend scoffed before Twilight returning to his spot next to Wild.
Wind then got back in place kneeling in front of the chest and heaved it open with great difficulty.
“Whoa Look at this!” Wind said after taking a long look in the chest. Bringing out a golden helmet with two horns slighting curving upwards at the end and not having a faceplate on it, barely able to carry it.
Twillights face paled and he tensed up while Legend stated “I have no idea where that came from seeing as in that chest last time there was a purple rupee in it”
Warriors walked forward and took it from Wind’s hands and cried “Well it is mighty inconvenient, I mean look at this no face armour at all, and look at these horns something might grab onto it making it difficult to fight back against your opponents!”
Meanwhile Twilight was staring at the helmet with a look of pure horror clear in his eyes, but no one noticed. “Well someone needs to wear it because it is too big and heavy to carry around while fighting, someone could get hurt” Hyrule stated, clearly not allowing any room for an argument.
“Well it is too big for me, Wind, Legend, Hyrule, and four to wear, so that leaves Warriors, Twilight, and Time” Wild stated, a bit upset that he wouldn’t be able to wear such a cool mask.
“I won’t wear it especially, because of how inconvenient it is for it to fight in” Warriors stated as if that was the most obvious thing in the world. “Which leaves Time and Twilight to decide.
The links just now noticing that Twilight has been completely silent staring transfixed on the helmet, not even blinking.
This causes Wild to gently touch his shoulder, making him jump and blink owlishly at Wild “Hey you alright Twi?” Wild says clearly worried about his mentor.
“Yeah I...I’m fine cub” Twilight said in a dazed tone but snapped out of it quickly.
Time sighed “Well it Looks like by default it's mine” as he swiftly took it from Warriors and put it under his arm.
“What? No Time I can handle it!” Twilight said words rushing out of his mouth with a frantic look in his eyes.
“No, you can’t obviously you're not feeling well pup” Time’s voice was authoritative and made Twilights protests die in his throat.
Four coughed awkwardly making both Twilight and Time look at him “So,Uh, why don’t you try it on to see if it fits?”.
Time nods and puts it on while Twilight takes in a quiet, deep, and sharp breath, making Wild give him a concerned look, as it fits perfectly on his head “Well I guess that settles that” Four stated after checking how the helmet fit on Time’s head.
As soon as Four finished those words two walls behind them slid up revealing at least 10 stalfos, all looking murderous. “Wait this has never happened before!” Legend cried as he and the other links drew their swords, Twilight a bit slow on the uptake and looking like a deer caught on headlights, and face still pale.
The fight starts four, wind, and Hyrule back to back. Warriors, the one one with the fastest battle sense, just killed a stalfos yelled “These monster are corrupted”
Only to get a “No shit!” yelled back into his face by Legend, as he killed his first Stalfos.
The links were mowing down the enemies with relative ease, all the links thinking it was over as Wild killed the ‘last’ stalfos with the chest, when they hear an alarmed cry from Time as a stalfos came out of nowhere and grabbed the left horn on Time’s helmets, yanking Time’s head down while the stalfos is trying to stab him in the side.
The only reason why the sword didn’t run him through is because Time managed to grab the stalfos’ sword and is trying to keep the sword from pushing it through. With a war cry Twilight, who was closest, in a feat of blind rage cut off the horn that the stalfos was holding successfully knocking it unbalanced as Time stumbled to the right around 20 arrows hit the stalfos easily ending the monster’s miserable life right then and there. Instead of dropping a rupee or two it dropped the key that was supposed to be in the chest.
The links ran up to Time and Twilight all clearly surprised that no one saw that stalfos sneaking up to Time. “Are you ok? Where are you injured?” Hyrule ever the medic said while fishing out a red potion from his pack.
“Just my hand Hyrule other than that I’m fine” Time said with a chuckle as he took the red potion with his non-injured hand and drank it.
“Aww look Time your helmet is already broken!” Wind stated a little sad about it. Twilight then looked at the broken off piece of the horn mysteriously and said, while rubbing the back of his neck “Yeah sorry about that”
Time then shook his head and said after finishing up the red potion “You did what you had to do to save me besides the helmet will still do its job”. Twilight then looked back over and nodded.
Time then got up, picked up the key as he went, and looked at Legend “You think you can lead us out of here ok?” while offering the key to Legend.
Legend nodded and said “Yup I know exactly the door that this key unlocks” taking it from Time and started to to head out.
“Well, you heard Legend, let's get out of here” Time ordered while starting to follow Legend out, the other links following in suit with Twilight taking up the rear and casted one last look at the broken piece of the helmet still on the floor.

Ok okokok I’m sorry if this is already asked but how would the Links react to finding out that Wild helped (and practically built) Tarrey Town?
Hi thank you so much for the request! I took some creative liberties for this one. For example I know that as Link you just get bundles of wood and find people mostly, but I expanded it to have him helping to build homes and help the elderly move in because he’s Wild of course he would. Also I 100% Wild and Hyrule both, if not more of the group, have Imposter Syndrome because 1) It fits with their characters 2) I like self projecting :D This turned out to be so much longer than I intended I’m so sorry.
“Wild!” Legend whined. No, he did not whine. Legend did not whine, he simply was tired of walking. “Tell us where we’re going!” Groaning as Wild simply walked on. Legend would almost call it skipping. The boy seemed much more lively than he was in Twilight’s Hyrule, although that made sense since they landed in Wild’s this morning. When Legend first met Wild, he mistook his silence for some kind hatred or malice. Towards the group, or his Hyrule, or himself, Legend didn’t know. But Legend had come to learn that Wild’s heart was full of love, all of the heroes' hearts were. It was something he was jealous of at first.
Watching the Hero of Time, the Hero of Twilight, all of them, he hated them in the beginning. Perhaps hate is a strong word. He knew they weren’t bad people, quite the opposite. Every time he saw Twilight do something right and be praised by Time, a hot knife went through him. He thought it was out of anger, that some farm boy seemed perfect. But he realized it was hurt later on.
But then he truly saw them. He saw Sky struggle to think about how to build an entire Hyrule with his Zelda. He saw Twilight struggle to simply be in Ordon again, where he felt he didn’t belong after all he had been through. He saw Four struggle with some unnamed figures of his past. He saw Hyrule struggle with the weight of his new role in a group setting. He saw Warriors act proud and mighty, when in reality his shoulders sagged deep in the night under all the weight placed upon them. He saw Wind run his mouth until he wrote letters to his little sister, silent as the dead. He saw the Hero of Time clutch his blanket some nights, perhaps dreaming it was his wife, the only one who brought him comfort on lonely nights. Finally he saw Wild, silent and calculating, but also a tornado of untamed hair and a contagious smiles.
He wasn’t perfect and he never would be, even with an insane amount of quests and items in his back pocket. But his companions were nowhere near perfect themselves. If Legend were being honest, he finally felt like he belonged to this team of heroes. He felt he had a purpose, no longer just a lone spirit floating from quest to quest, only to be thrown into more danger his entire life. Sometimes he was kept awake by the thoughts of what happened after. Legend desperately hoped he would still be able to see the others after this quest was over. If not for him, but for the ones like Twilight and Wild who didn’t feel like they quite belonged completely in their Hyrules after all they had been through. Wild still had Zelda and Twilight still had Ordon, Legend could tell by the way they talked that they loved their Hyrules, but they were sometimes painful to be in after their journeys. Some of the other boys struggled with that too. In some twisted way, this quest was a blessing for all of them in one way or another.
Legend had absolutely no idea how Time felt. He had to leave his beautiful and caring wife behind, even though he had obviously gone through hell in his adventures. And that was just the things he told them about. Everytime they were on Lon Lon Ranch they were fed, housed, and loved, all in exchange for some farm work. Did Time resent them? Twilight was Time’s descendant somehow, that meant Time would have children. And dear Hylia did that hurt. Time had to live, he had to raise his children.
“What’s got you so excited, Cub?” Twilight asked fondly, thankfully bringing Legend from his thoughts. The group had taken a brisk walking pace through a bright green meadow, Wild barley containing himself to not break out in a run to get to their mysterious destination. Four gazed into the distance, and half of his mind cried out in joy when their gaze landed on one of the ‘shrines’ Wild had completed.
‘Who cares about a shine?’
‘That could mean we’re near a village!’
‘Don’t get our hopes up, Wild said there's almost 140.’
‘But this one is super obvious!’
Four decided just to ask Wild himself to quiet the others in his head. He wasn’t answering Twilight and Legend. That didn’t say much though, Wild just enjoyed messing with them.
“Hey, Wild? Does that shrine mean a village is nearby?” Four asked the boy leading the group. Wild simply turned and smiled widely. The group all whooped. Wild wouldn’t get their hopes up at the thought of staying in a village for the night only to crush them.
Wild picked up the pace and gestured for the others to do so as well. He was excited to get back to the town and see Hudson and Rhodson again. Hudson was one man that was always genuinely kind to Wild, not forcing him into a job for him and always being hesitant to ask for help. It was honestly a nice change of pace. Wild certainly didn’t hate the people of his Hyrule, quite the opposite. But everyone was so desperate for help it sometimes came off as rude and it stacked up all at once. Hudson never snapped at him for taking too long, or being too quiet. He would simply ask if Link was okay and eating properly. Wild didn’t feel at home for a long time, but there were definitely places that came close to it. His house, the koroks and Deku tree who had memories of Zelda, and Tarry Town were at the top of that list.
He wanted to show his friends Tarry Town so bad! They had been traveling together for months and yet they had never seen it. Wild couldn’t travel with more than a couple of people at a time with his slate, and even then it wasn’t the best idea to do it often. They had never traveled close enough for Wild to show them. It had been a while since they had been able to sleep in a village. They didn’t stay in every civilization they came across, they had other jobs to complete. But Wild’s Hyrule was so vast compared to the others that everytime they landed near a village, they would usually stay there for a night or two.
Wild wanted his friends to see a place he loved, and he was excited to share it with them. He would most likely have jobs to do once there, but his friends could relax in the small town before they continued on. They were approaching the edge of the surrounding cliffs, sparkling waters calmly lapping the shores below. Wild led them to the edge of the cliffs, then tugged Twilight’s sleeve to get them to look in the direction he was pointing. Some of the others gasped at the sight, wondering how they missed it.
Looking below, they could see a rising island protruding from the lake below, rising high above the water with a natural bridge connecting the mainland to the island-like structure. There, the village rested. From a distance the others could see houses similar to those surrounding Wild’s house in Hateno. Geometric squares and rectangles combining to create compact but roomy homes for those that lived in them.
“It looks comfortable, Wild.” Time smiled. He wished more than anything he could let the others stop as often as possible. These boys deserved rest and slept on the ground far too often. Villages also had cooking pots in Wild’s Hyrule, which caused the others’ mouth to water just thinking about it. Wild could create cooking fires pretty much wherever, but he was apparently limited on what he could make. Cooking pots allowed for more complicated recipes and stronger potions than a makeshift one.
Wild beamed and led them along the cliff. Not close enough to be dangerous, but Twilight always feared Wild would see something useful to them and go jumping off a cliff to retrieve it. Like a goddamn toddler seeing something shiny, not using his paraglider until the last fucking minute and giving him a heart atta-
Wild tugged on his sleeve again to gain his attention. Wild’s scars had been acting up today, causing his throat to close up more than usual. He could still talk, it was just harder and hurt more some days. It had become rarer as time went on, but it still happened.
‘Not going to jump’ Wild signed while smirking. Twilight glared at him and swatted the hand away from his sleeve. Wild grinned that shit eating grin wider, and Twilight was pissed his cub knew exactly what he was thinking.
The group continued walking along the cliffside, admiring Wild’s Hyrule and its stunning colors along the way. Wild, although excited, seemed a little rigid, hand resting on his knife.
“Is everything alright, Wild?” Sky questioned.
‘Yes. Lots of rocks for Yiga to hide behind.’ Wild sighed widely for everyone to see. He was about to warn them anyway, he didn’t want them to be caught off guard.
“We’ll keep an eye out.” Warriors confirmed. There was no reason to tell the kid to not worry, that would be a lie.
Wild smiled freer this time and nodded. Warriors was glad the kid didn’t get as frustrated when he couldn’t talk anymore. Wild was finally learning that there were some things that were simply out of his control.
They eventually approached the large arch that acted as a bridge into the village.
"Can this support all of us?” Twilight asked, glancing towards Epona.
‘It's a lot stronger than it looks. I ride across it all the time.’ Wild responded while already beginning to cross, the others following without another moment of hesitation. Wild led the way into the small town.
Upon approaching, the first thing they noticed was a platform in the middle of the town with a statue of Hylia in the center. It always struck the group as interesting that even in Wild’s Hyrule in ruins, people still believe very strongly in the Gods, most likely taking comfort in them. Surrounding along the edge of the island were houses all facing towards the center. That wouldn't really provide any space to build more houses in the future but it opened the door to close knit neighbors. In front of the houses were tables selling arrows by a Rito, gems by a small Goron, and what appeared to be armor by a Gerudo. Overall it seemed very culturally diverse.
"Link!" A hearty voice called out. The group turned to see a man with a head that was… odd to say the least. Like an elongated egg to be frank, with chestnut hair cut in a long bowl cut all the way down to the man’s ears. On his arm was a beautiful Gerudo woman wearing bright white loose pants decorated with yellow swirls, along with a crimson top, the same swirls adorning it. Her bright red hair in a large high ponytail.
Wild waved at them and signed something they didn't understand, most likely their names.
“It’s so good to see you, little one.” The Gerudo woman gave a small smile which Wild eagerly returned.
‘Good to see you too!’ Wild signed to the two of them.
“Who are your companions my boy? And what have they done to travel with the elusive Link?” Hudson teased, laughing loudly at Wild’s red face as the other’s snickered quietly.
‘These are my friends I’ve been traveling with.’ Looking back to Time who usually took care of starting introductions.
“Hello, sir. Please call me Time.” Time stepped forward and shook Hudson’s hand.
“I’m Wind!”
“Hey, ‘m Twilight.”
“My name’s Four”
“Nice to meet you, I’m Warriors.”
“Legend.”
“Hi, I’m Hyrule.”
“Hello sir, I’m Sky.”
“Those are all… very interesting names.” Hudson stared at them.
‘Why, because they don’t end in son?’ Wild signed with a smirk, fingerspelling son at the end.
“It’s Bolson Construction Policy!”
“Okay darling, I believe we do not need to get into this argument again.” Rhodson quickly dispelled the rant she knew her proud husband would get into.
They’re nicknames.” Twilight offered simply. He would ask Wild what he was talking about with the whole ‘son’ thing later.
“Awe I see. Well any friend of Link’s is welcome here. Afraid we can’t give you much of a discount at the inn, we’re still a new village. But I’m sure Kapson will find a way to fit you all in there.” Hudson said in a gruff voice. “I have to go help Monari with her leaky roof. Are you staying long, Link?” Hudson finished.
‘A night or two. Does Monari need help?’ Wild signed. Monari had always been kind to him.
“Oh, Link you’re always so eager to help. Relax for once. You practically built the town, you don’t need to repair it all too.” Hudson chided with a grateful smile.
“Wait… what?” Warriors interrupted from the back. “Did Wild help build a house or something?” During his quest? Was an un added question on everyone’s mind.
“A house? Try the town. Boy got me over a hundred bundles of wood, traveled all over Hyrule to find the exact people I needed, helped me build and paint the houses, you name it.” Hudson finished proudly, looking like he wanted to clap Wild on the back but thought better of it.
“Wild… what?” Warriors looked over at his smaller companion in shock.
“When did this happen?” Twilight looked equally as puzzled. Wind looked as if his brain had stopped working all together, expressive face frozen with his jaw to the floor. Sky also looked shocked.
“You built an entire town and you didn’t tell me?” Hyrule had a look of utter betrayal.
“Damn, kid. And here I thought you couldn’t get more selfless.” Legend’s eyebrows were raised, but underneath he looked impressed and almost proud.
“Don’t challenge him.” Four scolded. They all knew what happened the last time Legend challenged Wild over something innocent and seemingly stupid. They don’t remember much of the challenge itself but they do remember the end result. Wild, with a shit eating grin and three broken bones, cackling as fire rained from above. That was the day Twilight almost went comatose.
As the others expressed their shock, Wild’s face grew as red as an apple.
“Did you not tell them, Link?” Hudson’s voice reflected pure amusement at the young boy’s bright red face.
‘It never came up. I did it mostly after I finished the Divine Beasts, some was before though’ Wild signed before pulling his hood up to hide his embarrassingly warm face.
“Wha- never came up? You helped build an entire town while on your Hyrule-wide quest, and still saved your Zelda in a timely manner along with every other town in your Hyrule?” Warriors yelled aghast, forgetting for the moment that Hudson and Rhodson were probably confused by what Warriors had just said. Wild shrugged.
‘Can I help with repairs?’ Wild asked again, ignoring Warriors’ spluttering and Time’s amused chuckles behind his hand at the rest of the group joining in Warriors’ shock.
“As I said, you should relax with your friends, but I’m sure Moggs and Monari would love to see you!” Rhodson exclaimed, moving her hand from around Hudson’s arm and gripping him by the hand instead, leading the group over to a house near the middle of the circle, just behind a table full of gems.
“Brother!” A rough voice called as they approached the table. A large Goron rolled over, followed by a smaller Goron trailing behind. Once reaching their destination right in front of the group, the two Goron emerged from their balls, revealing an adult Goron with dark orange skin, and the smaller Goron having light yellow. Both of them were wearing bright yellow hard hats.
‘Hi Greyson! Hi Pelison!’ Wild signed with a large smile. He had a hard time with the Gorons at first. For being rock hard people, they were certainly touchy feely with gratitude like Sidon was. Wild knew they meant no harm though, that was simply something he struggled with before he met the other Links. Greyson and Pelison never touched him though, which he was silently grateful for during his quest. Wild did like when the Gorons called him ‘brother’ though, it made him feel a part of something on the lonely days of conquering the Divine Beasts.
‘These are my friends!’ Wild beamed, gesturing to the people behind him. Time softened looking at the proud face as Wild presented them like prized cattle at a fair. It was sweet… in a way.
“Nice to see Wild has someone to travel with him now.” Greyson laughed at Wild’s betrayed expression.
“Yeah! Wild never brings anyone with him into town! I didn’t think he had any friends! Take your hood off, you look like a villain.” Pelison added bluntly, ignoring Wild making a frantic motion to cut it out, the group roaring with laughter. They could tell by Wild’s face he didn’t take any of it personally as he pulled off his hood with an entertained smile.
“Link!” The group looked up to see a light teal Rito approaching Wild.
‘Hello Fyson!’ Wild greeted. Okay, Wild would definitely have to explain what the hell was up with with all the ‘son’ names.
“Hello, my friend!” Fyson replied happily.
‘How’s your mom?’ Wild asked with a kind smile.
“She’s well thank you for asking! Our relationship has gotten much better since she realized I had my own shop you helped me set up! I must thank you again my friend!” Wild tried to wave it off, but Wind wouldn’t let him.
“Oh! Wild helped you and your mom?” Wind asked with wide eyes, while Wild had to resist rolling his own. Wind and his damn puppy eyes. Wild assumed he learned how to use that to his advantage from his pirate crew.
“Oh yes. My mom and I got in constant fights about me taking over the shop, but I wanted to start my own! When Wild was building tarry Town with Hudson, he told me I could set up a shop here!” Fyson nodded at Wild thankfully.
“Oh yeah, same with me. I hated the Southern Mines in Gerudo Town. I’m much happier here since Wild told me about this place and helped Pelison set up his shop.” Greyson clapped his little brother on the back. Even Pelison looked grateful for Wild.
“Yes, Wild told me of this place as well when I was pressured to leave Gerudo Town to find a husband, which worked out very well.” Rhodson smiled down at her husband.
“He also found a Zora Priest for our wedding. He works at the inn now.” Hudson added. The group was shocked. Wild had gone out of his way to help people not only by saving Hyrule, but also personally as well. Going out of his way to help build an entire town for people to feel included. Even though it wasn’t Wild’s idea, he had still helped to execute it.
Meanwhile, as more tales were strung about his good deeds, Wild looked incredibly flustered by all the attention and praise he was getting. Hyrule stepped forward and put a hand on his back. Wild jumped in surprise before relaxing into the traveler’s touch, smiling gratefully. It was hard to acknowledge what he had done for people sometimes. No matter how he was rewarded Wild still just felt wrong sometimes, and Hyrule felt the same way about his land.
“Well, we will let you and your friends settle Link.” Fyson finished the conversation, thankfully seeing Wild’s squirming posture. Wild smiled and waved as the Gorons and Rito went back to their businesses.
“Oh! Moggs and Monari! Let’s go see them and then you can take your friends to the inn and get beds for the night.” Sky continued to look around at the sights before him. Perhaps he could ask Wild for advice, he had to help Sky build a Hyrule afterall. Not now, he didn’t want to overwhelm him. Sky noticed a dog trotting around asking for food on various doorsteps, along with an odd looking horse with packs. Looking closer, Sky noticed it was what Wild called a donkey. On the roof of the house the donkey was at, was a man who seemed to be watching it all from above. Sky yearned to be higher up as well, he missed his Loftwing dearly afterall. He hadn’t had the time to teach all the boys how to fly on one yet. Hopefully that was in the near future.
“Link my boy! How are you this fine day?” This must be Moggs then, Sky thought as he saw a wrinkled old man standing next to a small old woman.
“Oh, Link! How are you?” The woman called. Wild smiled down at them, about to sign that he was fine, before Monari tugged him down and pinched his cheeks. Dear, Hylia. This old woman was doing the most grandmother thing in the book of grandmothers. Wild flushed a bright red as the woman went on about what a fine young man he was for helping her move in, and if he was injured at all. The two elderly Hylians seemed to be frail and a little odd in their old age, but sweet all the same.
Sky looked over at the others. Legend and Warriors were bent over clutching their stomachs and their mouths to prevent them from laughing. Four and Wind were openly giggling quietly and chattering with each other, probably thankful it wasn’t them for once. Twilight and Hyrule looked on with maniacal grins of pure glee, probably planning on using that against Wild later. Even Time seemed like he was having trouble controlling himself. Wild was finally able to gently wrestle out of the woman’s hold.
‘Monari taught me how to make the honey crepe.’ Wild signed, desperate for a change in subject. Luckily, it worked. Although Wild knew he would get teased for this later.
“Really?” Wind gasped. “It’s amazing.”
“I’m so glad you like it.” The old woman smiled at Wind, who stayed well out of pinching distance. The group continued to talk to the elderly couple before saying goodbye to reserve bed at the inn. It was still mid afternoon, but they had learned early on that with nine of them, it was better to ask for beds as soon as possible so there was room for them and a stable for Epona. As the group followed Wild a small distance to the inn, a voice that was somehow the embodiment of snotty noble called out.
“Boy!” The voice called harshly. Wild took a deep breath and turned to the side instead, going to the edge of the village as if it were a routine. The group approached a man with bleached blonde hair, and to the side was a little girl. She had similar features to the man. His daughter then.
‘Yes Hagie wha-’ Wild started to sign.
“You know I don’t care for your common hand motions. Those things are back again! What did you do?” The group bristled behind him at the man’s easy dismissal of their friend. Warriors stepped forward but Wild gave him a subtle look that stopped him. For now.
‘Blood moon.’ Wild finger spelled, knowing Haggis would at least understand that. He could maybe talk if he tried hard enough, but he didn’t want Hagie to hear his scarred voice while it was so rough.
“I don’t care, I’ll give you another down payment to get rid of them. I can always tell by your clothes you need it, commoner.” The man, apparently named Hagie (And wasn’t that accurate), shoved a silver rupee into Wild’s hand. Sky bit his tongue. How dare this man treat Wild this way! After everything Wild had done to help them! Sky stepped forward and put himself between the two.
“We’ll do whatever. Just stop talking.” Sky scowled, reminding Wild of when he broke the Master Sword in front of him. Sky grabbed Wild’s hand and dragged him away from the man, who simply huffed loudly and stalked to the cliff he was sitting on. Legend got the urge to push him into the waters below, but thought against it. Too many witnesses.
“Does he always treat you like that?” Twilight asked his protege,  a sound similar to a growl deep in his throat.
‘No big deal.’ Wild signed, looking away from the fiery eyes of his mentor.
“It is Wild. I understand why you ignore him, but you still don’t deserve to be treated like that. Especially after you built the town he’s living in.” Time reminded Wild.
‘Helped build.’ Wild corrected, but it was nice to hear Time say that.
Wild led the group to the inn, only hearing half of the grumbled insults of the rich man on the cliff.
‘Hi Kapson!’ Wild signed once the group was in the small inn. Like the other buildings, it was small, but roomier and homey on the inside. ‘These are my friends!’ Wild introduced them all by fingerspelling their names before asking for them all to stay.
“There’s a lot of you and only two beds.” Kapson stated gruffly.
“We can share, sir.” Twilight stated for the group.
“You could set the mattresses upstairs if you want to do that.” Kapson agreed, asking Time for their payment.
‘I’ll be right back.’ Wild signed to the group after they moved the two mattresses.
“Where are you going?” Four asked.
‘Killing Guardians for Hagie. They never disappeared completely after the Calamity.’ Wild pulled a bow from his slate.
“Woah woah. We’re not letting you go alone. They’re Guardians!” Four scolded.
‘I have my paraglider and I can’t teleport with you all. There’s only two, I’ll be back in 20 minutes at most.’ Wild reassured.
“If you’re not back in 20 minutes, Wind is contacting you with his necklace.” Time ordered. Wild nodded and set out, leaving the group alone in Tarry Town. The group decided to explore the town a little bit more while it was still light out. Outside the inn in front of a nearby house, there was a woman sweeping on the porch.
“Are you all friends of Link?” She called out quietly, barely catching their attention.
“Yes, ma’am. We are.” Time and the rest of the group approached.
“Oh. I was just wondering if you can give him my thanks. He helped my daughter heal. She wasn’t eating healthy, or running around anymore. He gave her something and she was better by morning. I thanked him, but I’m scared that it seems insincere because of my husband.” The woman pointed at the man on the cliffside much to the group's surprise. “My daughter is my everything. Please let Link know he has my thanks.” The woman finished with a bittersweet smile.
“Of course we will.” Warriors responded, floored by Wild’s selflessness once again. The woman thanked them and went inside to cook for her family. The group continued to explore the town and look at the surrounding areas before Wild returned.
“You know. We could drug Hagie with one of Legend’s sleeping potions.” Wind whispered to the group when they were out of earshot from the other villagers.
“Where would we take him?” Hyrule smiled, a truly horrifying look of evil in his eyes.
“Down to the place Wild is getting rid of the Guardians. He'd really piss himself if he woke up down there. You see all the dead ones down there?” Fours blue eyes shined.
“I’d happily volunteer a potion to see that happen.” Legend’s smile was as sharp as a knife.
“Maybe we should blindfold him to make the experience more real and terrifying.” Sky suggested.
“You idiots!” Twilight chided. The other’s almost protested at Twilight ruining their fun before he interrupted them. “How the hell are we going to get him away from his daughter and wife?” Twilight finished as Warriors clapped his back.
“Eh, we’ll figure it out.” Warriors replied. At this point, no one could tell who was joking and who wasn’t. They all remembered Time, and looked to him nervously, half expecting a lecture from their leader.
“Don’t get caught.” Time stated, seemingly impassive. His eye, however, gave him away with a mischievous glint as the rest of the group cheered and laughed.

Wild made it back safe and sound, albeit confused at the mentions of drugging and kidnapping he did not even want to know about at the moment. That evening, Wild and Monari made dessert for their dinner, honey crepes. The group all cheered and thanked them profusely through full mouths, eating far more than their stomachs could probably handle. Even Time stuffed his face full. That night, they all shoved themselves onto the two mattresses pushed together on the floor of the inn. At some point in the night, they all became an entangled pile of elbows and knees.
Twilight slept buried in Time’s shoulder, one arm taken captive by Wild. The rest of Wild was taken captive by Hyrule. Hyrule’s head rested on Legend’s arm. Warriors had curled an arm around Legend and Wind, who shoved himself between them. Both Warriors and Legend would absolutely deny this in the morning. Four curled up facing Warriors, snuggled in with Sky in his sailcloth. Finally, the group had a chance to rest with stomachs full and a good night sleep.

More Discord Shenanigans!
Read on Ao3 here https://archiveofourown.org/works/23783062/chapters/58768858
Technically, Legend had nothing to do with what happened. Technically, Legend was supposed to be in charge, and had done nothing to stop what happened.
Technically, Warriors and Twilight needed to lower their expectations for how much he was willing to corral their respective charges.
He had been reading, a pastime he didn’t often have time to do these days, with all the traveling and uncertainty. But luckily, they had stopped at Ordon village, and were staying in Twilight’s house for a few days; Sky was sick with a cold from sleeping through a rainstorm. Outside. It wasn’t bad, yet, but if he didn’t get rest it would be- and with both Hylia and Twilight taking a stand on the subject, even Time agreed to the extended stay. All the others had decided to go out and explore for the day; Warriors was interested in seeing the Ordonian goats Twi spoke about so often, Hyrule got roped into entertaining the kids with his magic, Time said something about fishing, and Twilight and Hylia had run off hand in hand to “the prettiest spot in the village”. Twilight had mentioned something about a light spirit, so Hylia probably just wanted to meet it, but still. Legend wasn’t going to touch that situation with a ten foot pole, no thank you sir. So he was relaxing inside the tree house. A cup of tea, a well worn book slightly smaller than a brick, Plenty of sunlight from the window, and some peace and quiet. All in all, it was shaping up to be a nearly perfect afternoon.
Given his track record, Legend really should have known better.
It started with some shuffling and giggling. Too high to be anyone but their resident sailor. He hadn’t even realized Wind was there. Legend determinedly didn’t look up from his book. He wanted to read dammit! And no amount of weird noises from a hyper active preteen was going to distrac- oh that laugh was Wild. Wild and Wind giggling separately could just be them finding something amusing; the two of them giggling together meant trouble 99% of the time. With a groan, Legend lowered to book slightly to peak at the source of the potential headaches. Wind was on his knees by the top of the staircase, and Legend could just make out Wild moving something. Legend blinked. Why was wild pushing a box-?
He considered his options; putting down his book, actually getting up, and getting involved in/ have to deal with the shenanigans- or Not Doing That.
He continued watching events unfold over his book. Now he could tell, Wild was pushing the box right up to the staircase, tipping it over?!
THUNKTHUNKTHUNK!
Legend could only watch as for some reason, the two terrors shoved the box down the stairs, and giggles turned to a yelp and “oh shIT!” as it tumbled down. What exactly were they expecting? When the box stopped thunking down at the bottom of the steps, there were a few breaths of silence. Then giggling. Not from the top of the stairs, but- from INSIDE the box? Legend took a deep breath to screw up his patience. A wasted effort really, as the lid popped off and a still laughing Four tumbled out.
Four was in the box. Four had been in a box that Wild and Wind shoved down a flight of stairs.
Hylia above, why did he have to be the adult?
“What. The fuck.” At Legend’s terse words, all three troublemakers looked up. It seemed Legend wasn’t the only one who forgot they weren’t alone.
“Uhhh, we- I mean-”
“We were bored?” Wind interrupted Wild’s stammering, while Four continued to lay on the floor, unrepentant.
“So you put Four in a box and shove it down the stairs?” Legend stared at them. “What the monsters aren’t enough for you? You have to try and kill each other?”
“We put the lid on!” Wild jumped in.
“You put. The lid on.”
“To- to make it . . safer?”
Legend stared at Wild, who now seemed to realize that his defense was not nearly as solid as he thought it was.
“Nope! Not dealing with this. Be stupid at your own peril, not my problem.” Legend grabbed his tea and stalked out of the tree house.
  A month later . . .
Legend wheezed where he laid, still laughing at the Fouritto from earlier. Who knew the smith could bounce like that?
“So what Four, do you just like being thrown around?” He jeered. Four shrugged, unperturbed by his barbs as ever.
“Seemed like fun, is all. Not like anyone got hurt.” Before Warriors could retort, he was cut off by Legend
“Is that what you said when Wild and Wind stuffed you in a box and chucked you down the stairs?”
Everyone froze, Wind and Wild stiffening. Ahh, they didn’t tell the others about that huh?
“YOU DID WHAT?!” Warriors was advancing on the duo, Wild scrambling for a response.
“Wai- hey- it was fine_”
“We put the lid on so he wouldn’t fall out!” Wind chimed, completely unhelpfully judging from Warriors face; the knight looked about ready to blow a gasket.
Legend just grinned. Dinner might be late, but they were in for a show.

Let Love Be
*Ordon Village*
Link finally arrived back in Ordon after an exhausting wedding outing. He wondered where to look for Y/N. He kept his eyes peeled around Castle Town, but to no avail. Link was certain she had left. She had to be somewhere in the village.
I'll check the spring. I should stop home and grab towels in case she went swimming. There's someone I need to talk to first. Link turned in the direction of Rusl's house.
The only father he ever knew.
The faint glow of torches beckoned to Link as he approached. Rusl's house had a well lived-in feel, something Link's own house lacked. The only camaraderie to be had was between Link's two feet stomping around on his wooden floor. His thoughts constantly spoke to him, no matter what he did. When he ate. When he did chores. When he relaxed. When he tried to sleep. Which, as a result, gave Link crippling insomnia. He couldn't escape the constant chatter of his mind that bellowed throughout his empty home. Aside from Ilia, who, if she had her way, would move in with Link, Colin would visit sometimes. Of course, if there was Colin, there were also Talo, Malo, and Beth. But Link's bare house held little desire for rambunctious children. It held little desire for Link himself.
Link tapped lightly with his fist on Rusl's door. The door hovered slightly in a cracked position before slowly opening. Link was greeted by the googly blue eyes of Colin.
"Link!" He jumped up as high as he could in order to embrace him. Link knelt partially, scooping Colin in his arms. "Hey Kiddo. Is your dad here?"
"Aww, shucks, Link! We are supposed to train! What if evil comes and we aren't ready!" Colin folded his arms. "Hmph!" He lifted his chin away from Link to emphasize his displeasure. Link let out a helpless cackle. "Heh. I haven't forgotten about you, Colin. I promise. Let's just say I am working on some top-secret stuff that I can show you soon?"
"Pinky promise!" Colin stuck his pinky up. Link retrieved it with his own pinky. "I pinky promise."
"Colin! Come eat!" Uli appeared from the kitchen and called out to Link, "Hello Link!" Her face was pleasantly round and aglow from the life settled inside her womb. She held a wooden spoon and wiped a sweat bead from her forehead. "Can I offer you dinner?"
Link shook his head. "Hello Uli. No thanks. May I speak with Rusl for just a moment?" Rusl walked in from another room, greeting Link. "There's my boy. What brings you here?" He sashayed over to Uli, licking the wooden spoon in her hand and grinning. "Link, this is delicious. Are you sure you don't want to stay for some stew?" He dotted kisses across Uli's forehead as she giggled, "Rusl! Just think this will be you soon Link."
Link couldn't contain the ugly frown that appeared on his lips. Rusl caught sight of it, excusing himself from Uli and Colin. "Let's step onto the porch." Rusl offered.
Once they were away from prying eyes, Rusl inquired, "What's eating you, boy?"
Link nervously tousled his hair. "What do you mean?"
"I may not be your biological father, but I've known you long enough. That bruiser of a frown you gave us in there. That isn't the first time it's appeared. Any time we mention your engagement, it's visible like a flock of birds in the sky. "
They both watched the serenity of the breeze that passed through the trees overhead. Rusl continued, "You aren't in love with Ilia."
Link didn't deny or confirm Rusl's accusation. Rather, he conceded it with another question. The question he kept asking himself yet couldn't answer. "Do you think I'm a fool?" Link grabbed Rusl's railing, bouncing himself up into the breeze. He took a whiff of the pine and oak, which tickled his senses. Link continued, "Ilia is beautiful. She's prestigious. She's been my friend since I could walk. We can be comfortable with each other. Why do I not want to marry her? What's wrong with me?"
"It takes more than beauty and prestige to capture a heart. I do have a theory. Care to listen?" Link took one more bounce into the breeze, closing his eyes. "Tell me."
"You're attracted to that girl that appeared in our village yesterday. I may have said some things, which, again do not repeat to Uli. She's very sensitive right now. It's evident Fado also said some things. I can guarantee that out of the two of us, neither one of us looked at her the way you did. I can also guarantee she looked at you the same way."
This got Link's attention. "What are you saying, Rusl?" Is my attraction that obvious?
"I'm saying you both feel the same pull towards one another. I'm saying that pull is dangerous for an engaged man. I'm saying that I know my boy is one of valor. You would never hurt Ilia, this I know. There may come a choice though. The choice is whomever your heart chooses."
Link looked down at his feet. His bangs hid the contempt he felt toward himself. "Princess Zelda has requested that I accompany Y/N on her journey. Rusl, she is of twilight. We can never be. Wouldn't that settle the choice?"
"Link, love can always be. I love the way the sun hits the water. I am a human, and the sun, a star. Does that mean I cannot love the sun? That I cannot love the water?" Rusl rested his hand on Link's shoulder and gave him a supportive nod.
"Do right to all parties involved. Let love be."
*
You weren't sure if returning to Link's home was a smart idea. You really didn't have anywhere else to go. You secretly couldn't wait to get away from Aryn. He spoke ad nauseum about the wonders of Lake Hylia, as though he were a scholar and not an ice cream vendor. You were also starting to feel uncomfortable from the constant double takes of your body.
So, why had you agreed to go on a date with him tomorrow? Since he was friends with Ilia, you didn't want him to see you go to Link's house. You had him drop you off at Fado's ranch instead. Once Aryn departed, you couldn't help but revel in the relief.
What have I done? Did I agree to that date for the experience, or to get back at Link? What was I getting back at him for, exactly? Ilia had been in his life for a long time before I came along. Why is the light bringing out so much ugliness in me? You made your way to Epona's stall, praying she was there. She wasn't.
With Link not home yet, you weighed your options. Should you try to find lodging elsewhere? Link was already upset. You may as well compel his request to stay lodged together. You were also a bit disturbed by how he acted. You wanted to make sure he was okay, especially after he stormed off. You also wanted to assuage your own guilt. You had no right to treat him the way you did. Not for his life that existed before you came into it. Everything you felt was so bewildering. You tried to pinpoint what you were feeling.
You made a compartmentalized list of things you'd ask Midna. The first being the disgust at seeing Ilia and Link together. It bothered you that they bothered you so much. Then there was the way Link acted. Which was accompanied by a gnawing sensation to soothe things. To see him smile again. Also, what did one do on a date? You would have to ask Link to help you. Midna might not be useful on the subject.
There was something else that had been bothering you. A small betrayal of sorts. Midna had distinctly told you she had the only piece of the Mirror of Twilight that remained. If Princess Zelda obviously had one, why did Midna lie to you? What was she trying to cover up with her lie? And more importantly, were there other shards of the mirror? You weren't sure if you'd bring it up to Midna or if you'd hold off until a more appropriate time. Whenever that would be.
"Y/N?" You turned to see Fado shuffle toward you.
"You know the ranch is closed? Unless you enjoyed working here that much, I could find other things for you to do." He gave you a wiggle of his eyebrows to appear suggestive. Then he laughed off his flirtation. "Ah, Epona is not here. You are not with Link?"
"Link is not happy with me." You responded glumly.
"HA! This proves my point that Link has been intolerable since news of his engagement broke. I'm sure he is not mad at you. He's just under stress. Pre-wedding jitters and all that." Fado walked towards the barn door and began to fiddle with the lock. A cucco clucked at Fado from behind, startling him.
"HEY! If you don't get back in your coop, I'm going to make dinner out of you!" Fado threatened the clueless cucco. He gave him a surly cluck before he pranced around Fado. Fado chased him towards the coop. You felt the same bubble of laughter clog your throat. Just like the first time you met him when he fell. People in the Realm of Light were, if anything else, amusing. You felt the bubble burst as the cucco pecked at Fado's behind. You began to laugh uncontrollably.
That's when a wonderful idea settled in your mind. You thought about how Link asked what you ate in the Twili Realm. You would cook him a delicious dinner. One that was more substantial than bread and fruit. It wasn't your place to judge, but you secretly wondered why Ilia wasn't cooking him meals.
"Fado?" You called out. He walked toward you, his chest puffed out. "That little bugger! Did you need me Y/N?"
"Would you happen to have any cucco meat and potatoes?" You began to rummage through your pocket for some rupees.
"Ah, ah. None of that. I do have some cucco meat and potatoes. They're on the house, if you promise to save me a plate?"
On the house. Of course. You gave him a warm smile. "Yes. Of course."
Fado blushed at your sincerity. "Wait here for me!" He stumbled inside his house, leaving you alone for a brief moment. You were excited to try your hand in the kitchen. Twili food may not be lavish like Hylian food, but it was filling. Comforting. Link needed comfort. You should only hope you can get it done before Link arrives home, as the sun was beginning to set.
You've heard the phrase,"The quickest way to a man's heart is through his stomach." At least Midna had picked that up here in the light. You decided to test this theory. You were hoping that the quickest way through Link's mood would also be through his stomach. If you happened to capture his heart as well, that would be a welcome bonus.
A/N: Edited 11/13/22
Thanks to the imparted wisdom of Rusl, a determined Link makes his way back to you to make things right. Meanwhile, thanks to the generosity of Fado, you are also inspired to try your hand at a peace offering with the hero. However, unbeknownst to the hero, your peace offering comes with a price. Will the invigoration you both feel be enough to get the train back on the right track? Or will news of your upcoming date lead to its derailing?
