Maharashtra: Constable from Aurangabad found dead on footpath in Thane | Thane News

THANE: A constable posted in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra was found dead on a footpath in Thane city, police said on Wednesday. The body of the deceased, identified as Baliram More (around 40 years), was recovered from the footpath located in the main market area on Tuesday night, they said. During the inquiry, it came to light that he was working in the motor vehicles department of Aurangabad police, they said in a statement. The Aurangabad police informed their counterparts in Thane that More had been on a sick leave for some period. Police have ruled out any foul play in his death and a case of accidental death has been registered. His body was sent for post-mortem to a government hospital here. THANE: The Indian Meteorological Department issued an 'orange alert' in Thane and Navi Mumbai regions on Wednesday. Intense spells of rain are very likely to occur at isolated places, the weather forecasting agency predicted. Dombivli: Nullah water turns green, locals suspect release of chemicals from industries | Thane News

KALYAN: A nullah water passing through Gandhi Nagar area in Dombivli turned green allegedly due to a release of chemicals from Dombivli MIDC on Monday. The locals blamed chemicals from industries in the MIDC area for changes in colour and informed the same to Maharashtra Pollution Control Board. (MPCB). The locals suspect that someone from industries may have released chemicals or chemical powders considering heavy rains in Kalyan-Dombivli. Earlier in February 2020, due to pollution from industries, the road's colour had become pink. Following that, chief minister Uddhav Thackeray had sought a report from the MPCB, and action was taken against several industries in MIDC. THANE: A Thane court sentenced a Navi Mumbai resident to life imprisonment for killing his wife in May, 2017. Principal District and Sessions Judge RM Joshi, in his order of July 9, the detailed copy of which was made available on Monday, held Jayesh Mahalim (30) guilty under section 302 of IPC and sentenced him to life imprisonment. Kalyan: KDMC removes unattended, scrapped vehicles from streets; recovers Rs 17,500 fine | Thane News

KALYAN: In order to ease traffic congestion and for the convenience of commuters, the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) on Wednesday decluttered unattended and scrapped vehicles from the streets. The action was taken by the ward officer Sudhir Mokal on the orders of KDMC chief Vijay Suryawanshi. During the drive, the officials from the encroachment department along with police officials removed 10 unattended and scrapped vehicles from the 5/D ward. The vehicles include two four-wheelers, one three-wheeler, and seven two-wheelers.
