Cobra Kai predictions

Most of which are rather obvious but I want to get them out of my system and see if you guys agree or have any more info I missed.

They miiiiiight contain spoilers, who knows, so be warned.

So let's get the obvious out of the way.

1) Johnny decides to advertise the dojo at the funfair, having his students break bricks on stage etc. It’s the 4th of July, right?

2) Miguel gets a new girlfriend in Tory who seems to be Kreese's pet, his battering ram so to speak to both "corrupt" Johnny's fave, Miguel, and kick the living daylights out of LaRusso’s daughter.

3) Daniel takes Robby and Samantha to the beach for a training session where they run into Robby’s “pals”, Cruz and a new guy. They probably want to get back at Robby but Daniel saves the day. @cutesynamehere says there were CK kids too involved in that scene so I wonder what that means.

4) Robby goes back to school!! Yay!!!

5) Although Dimitri starts off as a Cobra he joins Miyagi Do later on.

6) Dimitri, now officially a member of Miyagi Do, has a heated argument with Hawk at the mall (who probably calls him a traitor or something). Robby and Samantha join him and I guess they beat the crap out of the Cobra kids.

7) Hawk is super pissed and frustrated over the fact that he lost his friend to Miyagi Do plus the fact that they got their ass served. Kreese walks in just in time to fuel Hawk’s anger and manipulate him towards wanting a real fight with the Miyagi Do kids.

“A fight is only over when you say it is.”

8) ... And that’s what probably leads to the school brawl between the students of the two dojos.

And now for my favourite parts which are still kinda obscure and out of context. I’ll take a wild guess here.

9) Daniel's line about "destruction and disrespect".

Destruction? Ok that could mean the school brawl but disrespect? Why? See how pissed off Daniel is? Also remember how proud he was when he was renovating Miyagi’s house with Robby?

With bonsai trees even? C’mon. Doesn’t that ring a bell?

Also, see that face? Johnny has nooooo idea what Daniel is talking about.

So my theory is that Kreese got the Cobra kids worked up and somehow encouraged them to “strike first” and go trash Miyagi Do (yet another “Cobra Kai” reference to the Karate Kid films).

Remember, Daniel said “some day the fight may come to you”. Maybe he knew of the imminent CK attack because Kreese himself warned him. “You’d better hope your soldiers are ready.” Did Kreese go to Miyagi Do on his own, just to gloat and threaten Daniel? I guess he did.

Later on Daniel says “Time to see what Miyagi-Do is made of”. A call to arms? Surely. See those defeated faces? Maybe it’s just exhaustion from training, but maybe they ARE defeated because Miyagi Do was trashed.

10) And I’m more convinced Johnny had no idea what his students were up to due to his line to Kreese. “We need to talk about what you’ve been putting in my kids’ heads.” He confronts Kreese for messing with his kids behind his back but this is what he gets. “The same lessons I taught you.” Johnny knows Kreese is out of control and he needs to get his dojo and his life back on track.

11) I’m not so sure about these two scenes. I wonder if he spends a day at the beach drinking and contemplating Cobra Kai's downfall due to Kreese’s influence or if it happens earlier on, while he’s reminiscing his sweet moments with Ali or the day that changed his life when he first saw Daniel there.

Johnny looking at his reflection. He’s having second thoughts about the lessons he’s been teaching his students, or freaking out in general about what his dojo has become because of Kreese. A nest for bullies.

12) Fight scene with a guy with a huge-ass earring in a bar. What is that????

13) Fight scene with Daniel in Johnny's APARTMENT??? What?? How did Daniel end up there?! How does he know where Johnny lives? Did Robby tell him? Did he go there just to confront Johnny like Johnny went to Daniel’s place last season?

And, most important of all, did Johnny just... open the door to him?

I wanna know. O__O

Mayans MC 1x06 "Gato/Mis" Review

Last episode left a lot to be desired for me. The final scene made me so angry that it distorted my entire recollection of the episode. This episode, everything is a bit more back on track. I’m still not pleased with Miguel and Emily and their relationship. Those characters will continue to be tainted for me. Domestic abuse isn’t sexy.

Anyways…

Episode 6 starts with Angel, Coco, and EZ on their way to meet with Adelita to deliver money to Los Olvidados. After last week’s episode, Angel is more determined than ever to know more of the grand plan than what Adelita gives him on a need-to-know basis. I can’t say that I don’t agree with him. If Angel is going to constantly be risking not only his life, but the MC’s as well, he’s going to need a bit more information from Adelita. She starts with her name; it’s actually Luisa Espina. Also? The rebels have larger numbers than they let on. Not hundreds, but thousands. Holy hell. What did you get yourself into, Angel?

Felipe and Jimenez share an emotional morning of drinking and reminiscing. Jimenez (who is a federal agent) had taken some time off and showed up on Felipe’s doorstep. He’s completely distraught over Felipe’s threat of harming his family. They delve a bit further into Felipe’s past. The photos from the last episode were very much real and were very much a part of his life that he was trying to leave behind in order to start a family with his wife, who was pregnant with their first child (and the love of my life) Angel. Making any threats between the two of them were wrong and that’s something they agree on.

Jimenez’s bosses are being pressured by the US District Attorney for more information on the Galindo cartel. He’s feeling the pressure, so that’s why he’s putting more pressure on EZ and that’s why Felipe’s telling him to back off a bit.

Meanwhile, Emily is becoming more engrossed in her husband’s...business. Dita isn’t so thrilled about this. She didn’t want this life for Miguel, so why would she want her daughter-in-law to be involved too? There is finally movement on the return of Cristobal. Adelita actually contacts Miguel and says they can have him back for 7 million pesos in cryptocurrency. I guess that’s one good thing of having posted Adelita’s face all around the Mexican towns surrounding the border. Pressure to give in or just really do anything. We know Emily is desperate for her son back. Miguel is just as desperate. As soon as they know where to meet Adelita and have Cristobal back, the cartel will slaughter every single person involved.

Los Olvidados, however, have a plan. It’s briefly mentioned in the first scene of the episode, actually. Every tiny detail is planned and it has me on the edge of my seat waiting for something to happen. Galindo’s little mole in the Los Olvidados operation has to be the most obvious undercover person. Perhaps it is because he is a child, but I was just waiting for someone to catch on and I’m surprised something didn’t happen sooner. Coordinates are placed in plain view of the child, who relays the location to the cartel. Turns out, it was a trap for that mole. Los Olvidados take no prisoners. They will do anything in order to take down the Galindo cartel and that includes murdering a child. In fact, they have another child push that child off a roof and into broken glass windows. Absolutely brutal.

Miguel is very briefly reunited with his baby boy and after a few moments, is arrested on the Mexican side of the border. His son is taken away from him again. Actually makes me feel just a small bit for him. After his actions at the end of the last episode, he was firmly at the very bottom of my character preference list. Him and Emily.

Coco’s darling daughter, Leticia, makes a reappearance at the Mayans junkyard. Last time we saw her, she was hitchhiking away from Coco and her grandmother, promising to give the driver sexual favors. Coco was chasing after her. Since Coco has club business to attend to, EZ takes it upon himself to babysit. He discovers Coco’s daughter is bruised and she has a dead body in the trunk of a car; the very man she hitched a ride with. The plan is to make it seem like someone tried to jack the driver and to rid all traces of Leticia ever being with him. She offers EZ a chance to fuck her if he wants, but he makes it clear that he just wants to help her. Thank god. He doesn’t need any more crazy on his plate.

We are treated to another flashback! It feels a bit randomly placed in the episode, if I’m being honest, but I’ll always accept more flashbacks! The memory is triggered by a Wildcats sticker on a car window. It goes back to the day EZ found his mother’s body in his family’s butcher shop. He’d seen a car with a Wildcats sticker in its back window making a getaway.

Anyways, part of the plan is to put the dead guy back in his truck. When EZ goes to move the truck, since it’s broad daylight and people would notice two people moving a dead body, he is stopped by two men who know that that truck doesn’t belong to him. They believe he’s stealing it and a fight ensues. EZ manages to knock one guy out, but Leticia sneaks up on the second and stabs him in the back with a screwdriver. She just does it as if that’s something she does every day! If she’s anything like her father, she’s probably just a bit unhinged. She’s a marvel wrapped in a mystery and she can only be there to cause trouble for the club, including EZ and her own father, Coco.

Bishop believes Coco could be the rat, so he’s going to obviously keep him close to keep an eye on him. It’s understandable, but we know that Coco isn’t the real rat. It’s Angel. Coco knows the bare minimum and I’m just wondering how long it’s going to take for the rest of the club to find out about Angel and his relationship with Adelita and Los Olvidados.

A car chase ensues once a police cruiser spots EZ in the car Leticia arrived in. (Leticia is riding behind the car on the back of Angel’s motorcycle.) Turns out, the girl stole the car from her grandmother, so the cops have been looking for that car. This leads into another flashback for our dear EZ. EZ was after the man that killed his mother. He chases a car and causes a small collision. Back to the present, the chase gets a bit more complicated when another cruiser joins the chase. EZ ditches the car in a field and fills it water to destroy any evidence left behind and he just runs and hides.

The end of this episode shows us that these people would do absolutely anything for the people they care about. Miguel will go to the ends of the earth for his son. Adelita and the rebels will protect what and who is theirs. EZ and Angel will help, not only each other, but also help out the loose canon of a daughter of their friend and “brother”. While Jimenez and Felipe are at odds, they are still family and Felipe will look out for him. These bonds they show us are strong and that was always one thing I did enjoy seeing from a Kurt Sutter-produced show.

The biggest reveal of the episode was the return of Lincoln Potter (Ray McKinnon). For those familiar with Son of Anarchy, you’ll remember ADA Lincoln Potter. He was one of the show’s most morally grey characters in Season 4. He brought a world of hurt to Juice and it makes me wonder who he’s going to turn upside down in the Mayans MC. The last time we saw him on Sons, he was trying to take down the Galindo Cartel, but two members of the cartel turned out to be undercover CIA agents, forcing him off the case. This character’s return is mysterious, but it opens so many doors. Who else could Kurt Sutter possibly bring back?

Some thoughts:

Angel is such a good big brother. EZ immediately calls him to help him out once Leticia stabs one of the witnesses and he does without a question.

Leticia is a compelling character and I’m down for seeing more of her.

I can’t even believe Sutter brought Lincoln Potter back. His character wasn’t even a thought in my mind. Genius. He hasn’t changed a bit.

So far two children have been brutally murdered on this show. On both sides of the equation. How many more are going to die before the season ends?

No love triangle action this episode so that’s a major win in my book!

Mayans MC airs Tuesdays at 10/9c on FX.

Food Review

The Peri Peri chicken is one of the newest chicken house here in Iligan. This one in the picture is one of their branch at Robinsons Place, Iligan City. As far as I am concerned, I had a good dining experience with them. They told me that the chicken would be serve in 15 minutes and just like they said in less than 15 minutes my order had been served.

However I have noticed things and wished that this restaurant will do or implement in order to improve more. First of all is that they should have brought service water during the time their customers wait for their orders in order to make sure that their customers would not get tired of waiting since they have something that can quench their thirst. Second is that I hope the price for their drinks will decreased since 35 pesos alone is pretty much expensive along with 100 pesos of chicken especially for students. I hope they would have combo meals that would be much cheaper. Lastly, as a maranao and Filipino, I hope that there would be chilis in the table since we would love to mix them with the sauce and in order to add more flavor. Overall, I had a quite nice experience and hopefully they would implement some of the listed things above soon.

Movie Review

For me the movie “COCO” is one of the most underrated movie this year I think it is because of the trailer which is not quite as good as the movie itself. Honestly, it thought that it would be a movie with a cliché story plots just like other Disney animated films. However, it was not what I expected the story was full plot twists, it shows how death could really affect a family especially if they have committed a mistake in the past. The movie also emphasizes the love of each family member for one another an example is the story of Hector and his family where they thought Hector had abandoned them where in fact he was murdered by his best friend Mr. Dela Cruz. One of the best scenes that emphasizes the love of Hector for his daughter is when he wrote a song for her which was sung by Miguel to his great grand mother(Coco). It was a heart melting scene for me since all the time Coco would not speak due to old age and because of the song of his father she was able to recall everything especially the love of his father. As for Miguel I loved how he pursue his love and passion for music even though many people tried to stop him which is also his family members but still he chose to fight in what he believe which is a hard thing to do in the very first place, Overall, I love everything from this movie from the graphics and especially the ost which is very good. For me it shows that a person may lose a loved one but not his/her love for that person.

(Book Review) The Magician’s Nephew

Summary of the plot

The novel is all about how the land of Narnia was and created and how evil takes over the land. The book includes plenty magical series and it depicts the battle between good and evil.

The story begins when Digory and Polly meet and become friends one cold, wet summer in London. While the children attempted to get into an empty house which happens to be the house of Digory’s Uncle, Uncle Andrew Ketterly, the children happen to see yellow and green rings on a table in the house. Uncle Andrew decided to offer a ring to Polly. At the moment she touches it, she suddenly disappeared. Digory was then told that the rings happen to be special and that they were made from magic dust. He was told that the yellow rings allow a person to be transported to other world while the green rings has the ability to bring a person back to the present time. Due to the fact that Polly does not have the green ring, Digory must use one of the yellow rings for him to be able to bring back Polly.

Eventually Digory was able to find Polly in a place called Wood between Worlds. The pair then decided to explore the space which allows them to explore different kinds of worlds. They found themselves standing in a place known as the Charn. Charn is a place in where no life can be found. However, the two still decided to explore and ended up at the Hall of Images. They have found out that there is a bell with a warning at the hall. Despite the warning, Digory still rang the bell which causes the awakening of the Queen as soon as she was awake the building started to fall down and ended up being destroyed.

Digory and Polly learned that it was the Queen’s fault in why the Charn’s been ruined and because of her greediness and thirst of power she killed her sister and everyone in the Charn. The children are frightened and tried to go back to London but the Queen had managed to grab a hold of them and was transported to London as well. The Queen had cause chaos and destruction in the entire London. She told Uncle Andrew about her plans of taking over the whole world and later on steals the jewelry as well as the horse and the carriage. Due to how complicated the situation is, Digory and Polly uses the ring to transport the Queen which was also called the witch but the problem was that all of them was touching the ring and they all ended up at a strange and dark place. Later on, they heard a voice singing which comes from a large lion. Horrified, the witch managed to escape and runs away. As the song is continuously sung flora and fauna had also appeared from the earth.

The lion who was called Aslan, instructs some of the animals to protect Narnia. Digory followed Aslan to know if the witch has already entered Narnia. He was then commanded to bring Cabby’s wife to tell the couple that they will be the rulers of the land. Digory was then given a mission to go and help protect Narnia. He was ordered to go to a hilltop garden to get an apple from a tree. As soon as He and Polly arrived, they noticed that the witch was already there eating an apple. She tried to catch him and tried to convince him to transport the apple to London in order to save her mother. Even with the temptation of the witch, Digory was still able take the apple back to Aslan. Digory was told by Aslant to bring the apple with him. Aslan then returned them back to London. Digory’s mother was able to get better. The children then decided to bury the rings along with the core of the apple. After sometime, a tree grows out from the rings and apple. However, a storm had destroyed the tree and causes it to be knocked down. Some time later, Digory made a wardrobe out of the tree in where a new adventure will soon begin.

Opinions

The book was actually interesting and was well written. It had the fantasy that I want and it was just simply amazing. I was just surprised to learn that the there is a sequel that can already be read. The author has done a great job in capturing his audience’s attention and has actually greatly entertained me. Overall, the book deserves to be recognized and be acknowleged by other readers.

Recommendations

I would recommend the book to readers who are greatly fond of fantasies. I would also be happy to share it with my family and friends knowing that the book has already been transformed into a movie. I also would whole heartedly share it to those new readers.
