You do realize that a couple of decades ago, the problematic content was us, right? And that your biggest allies in this will still want your existence censored, right?

Um...when you say the Hayes code made art better do you mean that treating priest respectably is good (a fair point) or do you mean anti-miscegenation was a good rule?

I was referring to not showing sex scenes on screen, not anything to do with race. Fair point though, I suppose in my glib joke post I ought to have confirmed that I’m not a racist!

This is an interesting little story about what might have happened if the Hayes Code never came about.  I’ve got the same problems with it that I frequently have with Kim Newman- namely, that he sometimes seems to use alternate history as an excuse to be mean-spirited- and I don’t really buy that mainstream films would have shown unsimulated intercourse, but this story still raises some intriguing possibilities.
