This. This and this.
"I did not have to fear that I spoke too much. I did not have to worry that I was too slender or too slow. This and this and this!"
"Later, we lay on the riverbank, learning the lines of each other's bodies anew. This, and this and this. We were like gods at the dawning of the world, and our joy was so bright we could see nothing else but each other."
"At first it is strange. I am used to keeping him from her, to hoarding him for myself. But the memories well up like springwater, faster than I can hold them back. They do not come as words, but like dreams, rising as scent from the rain-wet earth. This, I say. This and this."

Just finished rereading The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller for the 3rd time
The fucking end gets me every time
So many good quotes. Especially in the last 4 pages.
Just
Thetis coming to stand at their grave and Patroclus is just filled with so much hate and he throws it all in her face. Every time she has fucked up
"You say that Chiron ruined him. You are a goddess, and cold, and know nothing. You are the one who ruined him. Look at how he will be remembered now. Killing Hector, killing Troilus. For things he did cruelly in his grief. Perhaps such things pass for virtue among the gods. But how is there glory in taking a life? We die so easily. Would you make him another Pyrrhus? Let the stories of him be something more."
Or that very next part after that
"Her mouth tightens. 'Have you no more memories?'
"I am made of memories'
'Speak, then."
Or the whole next 2 paragraphs of him describing his memories
"At first it is strange. I am used to keeping him from her, to hoarding him for myself. But the memories well up like spring water, faster than I can hold them back. They do not come as words, but like dreams, rising as scent from the rain-wet earth. This, I say. This and this. The way his hair looked in summer sun. His face when he ran. His eyes, solemn as an owl at lessons. This and this and this. So many moments of happiness, crowding forward."
How Patroclus and Thetis bond over their love and loss of Achilles
"I conjure the boy I knew. Achilles, grinning as the figs blur in his hands. His green eyes laughing into mine. 'Catch,' he says. Achilles, outlined against the sky, hanging from a branch over the river. The thick warmth of his sleepy breath against my ear. 'If you have to go I will follow'. My fears forgotten in the golden harbour of his arms.
The memories come, and come. She listens, staring into the grain of the stone. We are all there, goddess and mortal and the boy who was both."
What really gets me is Thetis bonding with Patroclus and giving him the greatest gift in the world, to be reuinited with Achilles since she cant
The best line of tbe entire book is the last line:
"In the darkness, two shadows, reaching through the hopeless, heavy dusk. Their hands meet, and light spills in a flood, like a hundred golden urns pouring out the sun."

You’re at the library.
The window is open.
Birds are singing.
Sun is shining.
You are surrounded by old books.
Suddenly a smell of coffee.
You look down:
A coffee cup and a note.
This and this and this.

Those seconds, half seconds, that the line of our gaze connected, were the only moment in my day that I felt anything at all. The sudden swoop of my stomach, the coursing anger. I was like a fish eyeing the hook.
The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
Just another in the endless line of pain-inducing quotes from my reread
