what's at your Core?
i was tagged to take this uquiz by @little-lightning-lavellan. Not to brag or anything but Karrie got the rarest (and most accurate) one, and Ragnar got the most popular one (fits more for his Inquisition self though)
Karrie 'Bjornsdottir' Cadash
warped metal
it's not working out the way you want it to. no matter how hard you try to look scary, the very picture of karmic retribution, your efforts will inevitably fall short. you're out of place here, a broken doll and a used marionette. there's nothing to gain in pretending you can't be hurt like anyone else. there's nothing to gain in pretending you aren't human, that you're made of twisted steel and distorted memories. embrace your humanity. embrace your vulnerability. give in to trust.
Ragnar 'Thragnr' Aeducan
acerbic wit
you're a mentor — an old scarred wolf, an injured soldier, a disgraced paladin. your teachings read as shamelessly pretentious, speaking in rhymes and biting down hard into anyone stupid enough to make the wrong move. this isn't your first life, nor your second, nor your sixth — you'll make the most of your time shackled to this world, no matter how many loops it takes to get it right. with every defeat, you reincarnate; a little smarter, a little quicker, crueler and nastier. will you choose to be brutal, equalizing, that final strike in the face of your enemies? will you go soft, become tender and domesticated? the choice is yours. it's not like i can stop you.
if you want to do this, consider yourself tagged!

ahahah i’ve been DYING to draw them together, even if it was just a sketch. And I know I haven’t been playing origins for that long, but I LOVE these two sooo much already.
They have a love-hate relationship at first, a frenemies to lovers type thing. You can bet your ass Thragnr did not want Morrigan to tag along at all, but alas, it couldn’t be helped. They got into petty arguments and the sort all the time, which eventually transpired into conversations, which turned into Morrigan teaching the dwarf about magic and surface-y things. They fucking hated each other from the start, despised, loathed, but damn can you imagine the stupid fucking looks on their dumbass faces when they realized ‘Oh shit I think I’m in love’

woooo centaur age bandwagon!! feat. my dwarven children Karrie and Ragnar. (this totally wasn’t an excuse to draw them buff and nakey)
Karrie is either a Clydesdale or a Norwegian Dølehest. I’m going for Norwegian  Dølehest cause, y’know me, sucker for norse shit, but I was set on the Clydesdale at first for her because my absolute favorite movie as a kid was Brave. And Merida had a Clydesdale, and so naturally, they were my favorite horses. And Ragnar, he’s a Percheron. An intelligent, driven, and hardworking horse (not to mention quite the noble stallion).
These two aren’t that short of centaurs, I will admit, despite being dwarves. But they are rather tall for dwarves (taller than Varric ahah)
Also I never was a horse girl, never went through that phase. So this is actually my first time drawing horses, at least in a very looong time. You can see I struggled with Karrie a bit, but by the time I got to Ragnar, I got the hang of the horse anatomy lol.

Thragnr “Ragnar” Aeducan, The Exiled Prince
Finally, the moment you’ve all been waiting for, my official warden from my stream last night! I named him Dagnr initially, but oh well, decided I liked Thragnr more, Ragnar for short. I quite like the Dwarf Noble origin so far, though Ragnar was quite pissed when he was framed for his brother’s murder. And he isn’t really adjusting to the surface that well yet. At least his buddy Alastair is there to guide him, and though he hates her initially, he’ll come to love that tall tall swamp witch.

🧬 for Karrie and Ragnar? 👀
Tumblr media
2 hot dwarves combined = one mega hot dwarf its called math okay
she's called Karagnr, creative, I know. Karrie is a two handed axe warrior, and Ragnar wields that sword and shield combo, so I thought giving her a cool axe pike and shield would totally work.

Thanks for tagging me @dungeons-and-dragon-age for this picrew, it was fun to do despite having absolutely 0 knowledge of Warrior Cats. Man, I wasn’t a horse girl, I wasn’t a warrior cats girl(cat girl in general??) I guess I was just a LOTR girl lol. Anyways I present to you two very angry cats (and Hawke)
Karrie Cadash
Tumblr media
Rust tabby
Feral cat??
I have NO idea what her clan or warrior name would be???
Maybe like Tigerclaw or Auburnsky?? Give me suggestions i’m dead
Ragnar Aeducan
Tumblr media
Blonde silver
House cat turned wild/feral?
Much prefers the outdoors anyways
His housecat name was probably like Ragnarok or something, don’t know if he’d have a warrior name
Arrow Hawke
Tumblr media
Smoked
Feral sorta turned house cat?
Her warrior name would probably stay similar to her actual name, something like Arroweye
I’ll be tagging @little-lightning-lavellan and @spitfiremabari for this if you guys would like to do it!

Fictional Characters You Associate With Your OC
Many thanks to @dungeons-and-dragon-age and @little-lightning-lavellan for the tags! Since I was tagged twice, I'll do both dwarves, yeah? I won't tag anyone, but feel free to try this.
Karrie Cadash
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Merida - "Brave"
Merida was a huge inspiration for Karrie in the first place. Her fiery, wild hair, and her determined attitude are what I associate Karrie with. Their heritage and families are rather similar, as well. They both share the same drive for independence and freedom, the right to spin their own fates.
Eivor Varinsdottir - "Assassin's Creed: Valhalla"
Eivor also influenced Karrie, somewhere along the line. Gave her more balance, more control, more wisdom. But they've also always both shared the same thirst for glory and valor, a drive to reclaim what was once theirs. They're so obsessed with glory, they'll do anything for a taste of it, a chance of redemption. Eventually, though, they realize that what they've really wanted all along was in front of them the entire time.
Gimli - "The Lord of the Rings"
Ah, what can I say? Dwarves will be dwarves. Karrie and Gimli share the same bluntness, humor, taste for ale, and distaste for elves. But, eventually, they both come to love elves. They make for good companions. Like Gimli, Karrie is determined, loyal, stubborn, and really itching for a fight and a mug of mead.
Midna - "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess"
Midna kind of displays the more childish nature of Karrie- if it could be called that. Maybe not childish, but impish. True, Karrie is a serious, yet hardy warrior, but at times she enjoys messing around. Playing pranks, cracking jokes, teasing, all in her arsenal. Midna and Karrie just share that sort of smugness, they're on the same vibe. They also happen to share the same fiery temper.
Jasper - "Steven Universe"
Jasper's whole character development isn't too unlike Karrie's. Karrie goes from being an absolutely stubborn, angry, and rather close-minded arse, to, er, an almost equally stubborn and angry arse, minus the close-mindedness. Also umm they both like smashing skulls and being uhhh buff badass women with the uhh wild hair....
Thragnr "Ragnar" Aeducan
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thorin Oakenshield - "The Hobbit"
Thorin was the main inspiration behind Thragnr, originally. I wanted a noble dwarf, a wise and brave prince who was sound in his actions. Thorin just kind of fit the role. Eventually, Ragnar is able to overcome his long to reclaim what he once had in Orzammar, a bit unlike Thorin, but I think it's for the best. Both are strong and independent leaders, maybe a bit too independent at times.
Eivor Varinsson - "Assassin's Creed: Valhalla"
Aha, once again, Eivor. Rather than Karrie suiting the younger, more glory obsessed Eivor, Ragnar fits the older, wiser version of Eivor post-Odin. Sure, he once thirsted for glory in his younger days, but after coming to the surface, he began to accept what he had, and stopped endlessly chasing what was out of reach. Only then could he really be at peace with himself.
Fili - "The Hobbit"
Fili was also an inspiration for Ragnar, more design wise really. But also in that aspect of Fili and Ragnar being young princes, eager to be King one day. But we all know neither got what they deserved. Two fair princes in the end, wronged one way or another.

Late to the dadwc prompt party, but “it’s almost like you want to fail.” For Aeducan/Morrigan?
Oh boy do I suddenly have a newfound love for writing these two... Thanks for the ask, though I'm answering a bit late! @dadrunkwriting
The fire softly crackled in its pit, filling the stone room with its warmth. A long time ago, the very sound would have comforted Ragnar, but it did no longer. This was no longer his home, no longer where he was welcomed and praised. Truth be told, he didn't think he'd ever come back. When he heard Alastair tell that they'd have to go to Orzammar to seek help against the Blight, chills shot through the former prince's body. Orzammar was the last place he wanted to be after what his brother had done. They had turned their back on him, why shouldn't he have done the same?
Ragnar sat at the edge of his bed, leaned forwards, arms rested on his knees as he stared intently into the firepit. This wasn't even his old room, as yet, it still felt so nostalgic, to the point where he couldn't take it. Being a Warden in Orzammar on, well, Warden business, Ragnar and his companions were given rooms, though nowhere as nice as those in the Diamond Quarter. Still, he would have preferred the sleep in the slums with Carta criminals. No matter how hard the dwarf tried, he couldn't bring himself to relax and ease himself to sleep, though his eyes were sore and his body practically begged for the rest.
Eventually he stood up with a deep and tired sigh, brows furrowed in frustration. Perhaps a walk around the apartments would clear his addled mind. Ragnar strode across the room, from his bed to the door in a few swift motions. Wearily he opened the stone door, taking a step out into the foyer and looking around. Immediately, he regretted his careless actions. In the foyer, just by the hearth, sat none other than Morrigan. She sat there, seemingly unmoving on one of the couches, gazing into the flames like he had been doing.
There was no going back at this point, though. No doubt that she had heard him open the door and step out. Knowing her, she was listening to every uneasy breath he made, like she had eyes on the back of her head watching him. Why was this woman getting to him so? Shaking his head, he took a deep breath before shutting the door behind him and making his way down to the hearth as silent as possible. If he was going to start something, he was going through with it, no questions asked.
Not making direct eye contact with Morrigan, he came around to the sofa opposite of the woman, slowly and cautiously sitting down. His gaze wandered over to the hearth, and not a word was uttered between the two. Ragnar felt her gaze on him nonetheless, eyeing him up and down, raising the hairs on the back of his neck, but he maintained that stoic expression. The silence lasted for longer than he expected, for it felt like an eternity that the two spent together in it, until Morrigan spoke up.
"Trouble sleeping, Warden?" She questioned, shifting in her seat to better look at him. And with that, Ragnar finally met her gaze, turning to look her up and down in return. She sat with her head resting on her hand, elbow rested on the arm of the sofa. Her legs were up on the sofa with her, and overall, she looks rather comfortable as she stared him down.
"I suppose," Ragnar finally found his voice, casting a glace back to the hearth and leaning forwards, resuming the position he had been in on the foot of his bed.
"Tis a shame," Morrigan lamented, though like with most things she said, Ragnar could hear the sarcasm lining her words. "One would think you'd feel right at home."
To this, Ragnar didn't respond. He was only silent, expression unwavering, eyebrows furrowed.
"When were you going to tell us that you were the Prince of Orzammar, Thragnr?" Morrigan inquired, adding emphasis on his real name, unexpectedly stinging the dwarf. "Surely you didn't plan to keep it a secret forever?"
It took Ragnar a moment to respond, his voice low. "I never intended to tell you at all," he said plainly. "It didn't matter, not up until now. What is so wrong with wanting to leave one's past behind?"
"Nothing," Morrigan shrugged. "Though I do prefer to know such important details about my companions. Were you never going to reveal you had such a glorious name? Thragnr. I see where you get Ragnar from, now."
Ignoring that last part of Morrigan's snarky retort, Ragnar rolled his eyes halfheartedly. "Don't you find that ironic, coming from you?" He asked, still not quite meeting her gaze.
Morrigan gave a shrill chuckle, eyes narrowing. "Oh, it certainly is," she admitted. "But I don't think anything about myself is possibly more interesting than our beloved Warden being an exiled Prince!"
"Problem? You seem awfully intrigued with it, Morrigan."
"No, not at all, Warden," Morrigan shook her head with that faint smile of hers. "You would be right about my intrigue, though. I wish to know why you so desperately want to abandon the life of royalty, tis all I ask."
"I was exiled." Ragnar answered bluntly.
"I know that, but most men would long for a return, some way to prove themselves and gain redemption. But not you? Was the royal life not all that?"
"It was all that," Ragnar answered hesitantly. "But I don't need all that. I'm fine on my own. History is set in stone, why seek to change what man alone cannot? Thus, I found it pointless to dwell on it, and found I should just move one. Yet here we are."
"Indeed. Here we are, back where you have started. It's almost poetic. Almost as if you've been given that second chance you never wanted in the first place."
Ragnar felt chills run down his spine once again, with the silence that she created. Must've been one of this witch's staples. He sat there, unmoving, eyes still glued on the faintly glowing hearth. He was so tense in that moment, he hardly even noticed Morrigan shifting in her seat to lean towards him, almost cat-like in nature.
"It's almost like you want to fail."
That alone sent yet another wave of chills throughout his body, more severe than the last. He felt his pale face turn slightly red, the heat enough for him to notice. Finally, he slowly brought his gaze to Morrigan, staring in silence, for he did not know what to say. She wore a small, thin-lipped grin across her face, and suddenly, she was standing up from the short sofa, obviously crafted for dwarven use only. She came over and around to sit on the same sofa as Ragnar was, on the opposite side as him.
"I never knew much about dwarves, surprisingly," she said, scooting ever so slightly towards the frozen up Ragnar. "Though I will admit, being in the city makes me want to learn more. Perhaps you could lend some of your expertise, you being a former noble and whatnot."
At this point, Ragnar's mind was so sleep and adrenaline addled at the same time, he wasn't quite sure what to make of Morrigan's actions. Simple queries, or advances? Up until now, it was mostly him doing the awkward flirting or stupid moves on her, but he didn't actually take her for the romantic type, nor one to even reciprocate feelings, given how horrible of a start they had got off to. They were constantly bickering, and at each other's throats, how did it turn into this?
Suddenly, Ragnar was snapped out of his intense and rapid thoughts by a hand grasping his shoulder. "Why so tense, Warden?" Morrigan smiled down at him, as he slowly turned to meet her gaze. His face flushed red in an instant, and at this point, there was no mistaking what was going on. "Certainly you're experienced with such encounters, former-Prince?"
In truth, Ragnar wasn't. Sure, maybe he had a small romance with a noble lady here and there, but nothing ever serious, nothing like this. Morrigan wasn't like them, she was more, and he hadn't ever had anything 'more.' He didn't quite know what to do in that moment.
"Perhaps I could help put you at ease? Relaxation?"
Ah, that word. Relaxation. That was why he had come out here, wasn't it, because he wasn't able to relax. It seemed that he had found a solution to that problem, even if he hadn't intended too. Ragnar let out a deep breath, closing his eyes, and untensing his muscles under Morrigan's caress. "That would be much appreciated," he said softly, leaning back into the sofa, finally. And though Morrigan's face showed no implication of it, he sensed her surprise. Was she not expecting this from him, either? Suddenly, he could feel her own fluster, which only brought a small grin to his face, and a low chuckle.
"Stay here with me, will you?" He finally asked, pushing all his fear aside for once, and looking up at her with a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Truth be told, this feels nothing like home. But you ease that pain, I suppose."
This time, Morrigan was silent. She took a moment to stare down at the dwarf, glancing away before glancing back, brows furrowed as her face flushed a soft pink. "I suppose so, as well, Warden," she sighed, finally coming to sit right beside him, both of their bodies leaning into one another, making contact. Her arm wrapped around his back, her hand caressing his right shoulder, head resting against his own. And this time, the silence between them was a pleasant one, a faint crackling of the hearth as both managed to finally ease up.

OC Height Chart
Thanks for the tag @illusivesoul, to use this height chart maker. I've put thought into mainly just Karrie's height thus far (ahaha no I didn't I just made her as tall as I am irl), but its nice to get everyone else sorted out. Karrie is rather tall, at least by dwarf standards. So is Ragnar, but alas, he isn't as tall as the famed Inquisitor, so he shall forever go down in history as shorter than her. Racha is average height, I'd say, maybe a bit taller cause of her Qunari blood. And Arrow is one tall glass of water, I'll tell you that much.

For DADWC: (I have two because I'm greedy but feel free to only do one) "How could you ask me that?" from the angst/fluff prompts, and "something written about your OC by one of their advisors" from the codex prompts :D
Oho, thank you for my first ever @dadrunkwriting prompt! I've got a lot of people in my inbox, so forgive me for only doing one prompt, but it was certainly a fun way to kick things off! Did this one for Leliana and Karrie, whose relationship I should explore way more.
"Something written about your OC by one of their advisors"
On Inquisitor Karrie “Björnsdottir” Cadash
In a different, messier hand, with blockier text: “Stop calling me that.” In the same hand as before, now: “What? If I didn’t include your proper title, Josie would write a whole report to me about it, and call 6 meetings in the War Room.”
Inquisitor Cadash, or Karrie, as she prefers most to call her, is certainly a remarkable person. More in an interesting sense, rather than a just. I didn’t expect it at first, but the dwarf is an Andrastian, among many other things, Maker forgive me for my prejudice. But she has denied being Andraste’s Chosen, for fear of blasphemy, I presume. Humble of her. Even so, I still believe that the Maker works his miracles through her. She’s changed throughout the time I’ve known her. I could hardly get her to speak to me at Haven, but now, she’s a whole new person. She’s serious, when she needs to be, and level headed. All her decisions are calculated ones, save for a few rash and impulsive calls she has made. Far different than how I’ve seen her fight. She chooses to work in the shadows, and with force, much to Josie’s disapproval. Cadash gets things done, formalities pushed aside. Everything one would look for in a leader, someone I don’t mind following. But all seriousness aside, she’s more than a leader to me. The War Table isn’t all talk and stoic faces. There have been plenty of moments where there were laughs had, wagers made, jokes cracked. Most, if not all, were tied back to her. She wasn’t like that at first, hardly spoke to us all. Barked, more like. Now she’s comfortable with us, I suppose. Comfortable enough to entertain us at Cullen’s unfortunate expense. She’s professional, though. Scary, at times. She says she isn’t a leader, wasn’t suited for the role of Inquisitor, and I don’t blame her for thinking such things. Upon looking into her background post Conclave, it came to my attention she was a Carta thug, somehow lower than those I’ve encountered in the Orzammar streets, but somehow more. Reading her name reminded me of someone I once knew. House Cadash stood, long ago, and the Memories have no mention of it, save for a few old and forgotten records smuggled out ages ago. And just as her family did in Orzammar, Cadash excelled. From numerous reports, it seemed that she was the best, the finest warrior the Carta had to offer. A true dwarven berserker, taught by a family lineage. And yet, they shunned her. Her Dasher despised her, and the things she did on runs. Independence is what he hated about her. The Carta was glad to get her off their hands, and her family didn’t seem to be around to have a say. It was clear to me that she wasn’t quite the following type. Maybe she wasn’t a leader, no, but she certainly became one. She rose up to the occasion when needed, something she’s likely to deny, but it's the truth. The dwarf often reminds me of another I knew, one of her kind I travelled with during the Blight. He was from Orzammar, the complete opposite of her in fact. Noble… in nature. Reduced to nothing. Seeing her scowl gives me somehow fond flashbacks to seeing him. That hearty laugh she has practically rings out the same. But she’s funnier than him, I’m very sorry, Ragnar. More loose. But to his credit, he gave us a chuckle here and there, when the occasion called for it. They even seem to share the same taste in brooding, mysterious, black haired humans. But both dwarves were one in the same, their stoutness, their strength, their sense of leadership, even if they denied it. And I’m glad I can call them both friend, Karrie now more than ever.
