i don't want to put my uninformed foot in my mouth or get involved with the Discourse but i've been seeing the two extremes of reactions to the korean low birth rates issue (on tumblr and twitter both) and i'm just kind of like. look. i feel like "low birth rates (in many countries but especially japan and korea as part of this conversation) are more broadly the result of capitalism/a culture of overwhelming overwork that makes social relationships and having families incredibly inaccessible to young people" and "low birth rates are very much a part of the current conversation about misogyny and social expectations for women in korea especially in the context of reproduction as 'unpaid labor' for women" are statements that can both be true
#laughs awkwardly#gender#especially considering the ways patriarchal expectations and capitalism very much intersect in terms of quality of life for women#ex. women being expected to have kids / raise kids / do all the housework and cooking in a relationship#while ALSO existing in a society where women (even married women) have to work demanding jobs to deal with the high cost of living#AND women are systemically discriminated against in terms of pay / job availability / work environment and harassment#all of these things add up. these conversations are not opposing points of view. you know?#and also like. not super comfortable with how TERFs are discussed in terms of non-white cultures#TERFism / radfems as a MOVEMENT (and a cult) is very much rooted in white supremacy / ideals of womanhood#again. multiple things can be true at the same time. yes i do see (from my perspective involved in taiwanese social media)#some east asian feminists engage in transphobia in ways that approach radfem rhetoric ('women are victims of men' 'men are predators'#type generalized sentiments which you can imagine gains a lot of traction among women traumatized by patriarchy)#but movement-wise i don't think it's fair (or just in good faith) to generalize radical feminists from non-white countries#to straight up TERFs. which again. rooted in white supremacy. keep feeling like i have to remind people it doesn't make sense#for asians to be white supremacists and that not all oppression on earth stems directly from white people. you weirdos#'what are you talking about' in east asia the type of feminist statements called 'radical' are stuff like.#women shouldn't have to wear make up every time they go outside. women shouldn't be expected to do all housework.#should men pay for women on dates. debates that i think in the states we kind of take for granted as stuff settled years ago#even if some feminists might be transphobic it's not necessarily Transphobia As Core Tenets Of The Movement. does anyone get the difference#basically what i'm saying is. wow these tags got long. maybe let's not apply uniform standards of 'correct language and values'#to non-white people and attack them when as all movements they are fluid and influenced by the people living in it#TERF-style transphobia is not the predestined course for them. maybe it's more productive to have open discussions about transphobia#to work towards inclusivity and solidarity in these movements than to prescribe White Internet Morality to them#and declare that they're evil when they are still very much having conversations that need to be had. thanks i think that's all#essentially. i find that 'how dare a non-american movement not have morally pristine vocabulary priorities and membership#as determined by white leftists' to be in itself kinda a racist attitude

Summary: Yua lives on a small town by the coast where stories about the people of the sea and their altercations with humans were common. One morning, during her usual walking by the beach, she spots something lying ahead, right where the sand and the water meet. She approaches it believing it is an animal, just to be proven wrong: that was the body of a male from the people of the sea.
N. A.: This is the Fantasy!AU I mentioned here before! I don’t know when I will finish it or how much chapters it will have, but I want it to be short and simple. I’m also posting it here to “clean” my draft list, so please don’t expect constant updates on this story XD

Chapter 1 - Morning Walk
“A thousand miles out to the sea bed
Found a place to rest my head”
(Florence and the Machine, Never Let Me Go)
Spring was on its second week in that land and the days of Winter winds and violent storms coming from the sea were over. It was easy to become used to the warm sunlight and the calm waves on the coast that came after them every year, and that was the reason why Yua started to rethink her decision of leaving the house to take her usual walk that particular morning: she reached the sand and haven’t walked more than a few meters when a cold breeze reached her, making her ask herself if she should have brought a coat. Maybe yes, but now that she was already there with her feet buried in sand and her hair soaked in salt air, she was not going back home; she came to take her morning walk, and she was not leaving without doing it.
However, the sea had experience with tenacious people, and that time it was determined to test her persistence. Little by little, the warm sun disappeared behind a thick layer of gray clouds slowly pushed by the wind, which was sending more and more shivers down her body at each step. Soon, the amount of sand carried by it started to interfere in her sight, and it was hard to see what was ahead. Yua felt the irritation growing inside her: what happened to the weather that day?
She was now convinced that going back home was the wisest thing to do in such conditions. Accepting her defeat with a sigh, she tied her hair to not have it on her eyes while walking with the wind on her back and crossed her arms around herself, preparing to leave.
It was when she saw it.
Not so far from her spot, there was a dark, large stain upon the white sand, right where the land met the waves. Yua narrowed her eyes, trying to understand what she was seeing. Was it a piece of a wrecked ship? Or a living creature? Maybe the waters became so agitated with that terrible wind that they threw it there, giving it no chance to go back.
She took a few steps towards it and confirmed that it was a creature. Was it a dolphin? A seal? Well, if it was an animal, it must be too heavy for her to take it back to the water all by herself. She could seek for help in the city. But were they going to help her? She couldn’t be sure.
Whatever the case, the creature wasn’t moving, which increased the possibility of it being hurt. Standing there would only lead it to death, if it hasn’t happened already, so the girl walked toward it with determination, if not to do something for it, at least to try and understand what happened.
As she approached it, she start to think that the animal was too big to be a dolphin, and to slim to be a seal. What was it, then? She would have to look closer to find out. Now the curiosity has overcome her plans of leaving the beach, and she found herself almost running to reach the being.
And then her path ended up in an abrupt way: she was just a few steps apart from the creature and held her breath when she looked closer at it.
It wasn’t an animal as she first supposed. It was a person. Not a human, though – a person from the people of the sea.
For the appearance of their upper bodies carried a reasonable resemblance with the human figure, it was safe to say that the creature was a male. He was lying on his belly, his arms stretched up his head; in his hand he held tight some black stripes that showed to be a species of seaweed that she never saw before – he must have found it in the depths of the ocean.
His skin was pale even when compared to the white sand upon which he was lying, but all over his arms and ribs he had reddish marks spreading on a stern pattern; at first, Yua thought they were scratches, but a careful examination revealed that they were natural marks. Not that it would be a big problem for him if they were real injuries, for his muscles and general aspect implied an amount of resistance that would surpass the human limits: it wasn’t hard to imagine that he had enough strength to kill Yua in seconds even if he didn’t use everything he got against her. This detail served as warning for her in her next actions.
If the creature’s skin seemed pale to her, his hair was indeed white; it was short, disposed in shaggy, thick strands. On his head he was wearing some sort of silver ornament that covered his forehead and part of his cheeks, but the sharp points on its upper side created a resemblance with the forehead protector of the human shinobi from distant lands. Was he a warrior among his people?
She wasn’t sure if it was an illusion, but both his skin and hair seemed to reflect a subtle, bluish shade when touched by the light. Perhaps it was the influence of the aquatic aspects of his anatomy: over the outer side of his arms, starting on his elbows and reaching his fists, as well as on his lower back, grew a layer of scales that shone with a soft shade of blue that got darker as they extended in flexible fins. Of an even darker tone of blue was his tail, spreading for at least three meters among the waves: it started right at what would be his waist if he was human, but in this case the transition between the pale skin and the scales was less subtle, as to let no doubts about his non human nature.
For she was born in that city, Yua heard about the people of the sea since she was a child, from the stories her mother told her to the talking all around the city, when fishermen and travelers would complain about accidents and shipwrecks caused by those wild sea-men. However, she never expected to find one of them by herself. She was scared, that was true, but her fascination overcame her fears, and she bent down beside the seaman and stretched her hand to touch him.
She touched his right shoulder at first with her fingertips, ready to move away if he woke and attack her. It was warm – he was alive, then. And that part of the stories that claimed that their skin was as cold as the deep ocean was a lie. He showed no reaction to her touch, so she put her palm over his skin.
This time he started to move.
He clenched his fists and leaned on them using all his strength. In a second, he was able to look ahead, and that was what he did once he opened his eyes. Yua got stunned when he did: his pupils were not but two tiny black dots surrounded by globes as red as human blood, and the narrow shape of his eyes seeming to be painted with black ink, as well the red marks he had upon his cheeks and chin which were of the same pattern as the others on his body, deepened her impression of being in front of a predator.
They soon spotted the girl staring at him and widened, if with anger or fear, she didn’t have the time to find out. It was easy to suppose that he hid fangs behind his mouth while he kept it shut, so when he hissed and showed them, Yua was not surprised, but the sudden movement he made to throw himself toward her made her jump and fall on her back, containing a scream.
However, instead of a growl or any other sound of attack, she heard a moan that seem to be caused by pain. When she sat and looked again, she noticed that the sand underneath his spot was soaked in a fluid of a deep blue tone that was close to black; she then saw him trying to cover a dark stain upon his chest, from which dripped the same fluid. She didn’t need to know much about seamen to understand that it was blood.
Forgetting about what just happened, she leaned toward him.
- Let me help you!
The man stopped at these words and stared at her. The suffering was visible on his face, on which side there was blood falling, probably from a hidden injury. However, his silence was so long that she started to wonder if he could understand the human speech.
She tried again, more cautious.
- Do you understand what I say? – she pointed the injury – You’re hurt. You need help. Let me take care of this for you.
He kept staring at her for a few seconds before relaxing his position as sign of permission for her to approach. She came to bend closer to him and without touching the injury, started to examine it. It was an ugly thing he got there: a deep cut on his right side, apparently made with some sharp, metallic instrument like a big knife or a spear, that spread from his scapula to the center of his chest, almost reaching his left ribs. What was she going to do?
The first thing was to clean that blood as much as she could. She had nothing to do that but an apron she used to put upon her dresses to walk in case she found a shell she wanted to keep; she took it off and soaked it in the water to clean the bruise, and then folded it, using it to contain the bleeding.
- Please, hold it tight – she made the gesture of holding the fabric against the injury and touched his hand to tell him to imitate her.
He did it with his empty hand and, when she started to look around, trying to decide what to do next, he offered her the seaweed he was holding. She raised her eyes to him and he nodded; she immediately understood and took it from his hand.
The seaweed, when pressed and rubbed between the palms, formed a thick, creamy substance that glued to the skin with little effort and didn’t melt with the mere contact with water; it wasn’t so easy to spread, so the girl would need to be careful if she wanted that quantity to be enough for a large cut like that. When the salve was ready, she removed the apron from the cut and started to press the seaweed upon it.
It was indeed a strong medicine: as soon as it touched the bruise, he hissed, probably because it burned the sensitive skin. Yua stopped at it, but got back to her task when he seem to feel better.
She slowed her pace and softened the pressure she was applying, but it didn’t seem to help with the burning sensation because he kept hissing during the whole process.
- I’m sorry – she whispered, trying to calm him down as she worked – It will be over soon, I promise... It’s almost finished… Just a little bit…
As the treatment advanced, the seaman seemed to get used to the unpleasing sensation caused by the medicine: the hisses were less frequent now, and the tension on his muscles diminished. Maybe it was the medicine in action, or the certainty that Yua was not going to harm him – because whatever have happened to him moments before that encounter, he had his reasons to be on guard and afraid.
And after some minutes, everything was finally over. The seaman was visibly relieved; the burn must have stopped at that point. Yua washed her hands on the water, but kept what remained from the seaweed on her lap.
She observed him with more attention, not ignoring the blood on his face.
- Is this the only injury you got? – she questioned him and indicated the water plant – There’s still some seaweed we could use in this case.
At these words, he had a strange reaction. His looked away, as if trying to hide the blood and find a way to escape the conversation. But what could be so embarrassing that he didn’t want to tell her? Was it the fact that he just got help from a human being? Or didn’t he understand her language and didn’t know how to explain it? She tried to question him to find out, but he seemed to become nervous, and she was afraid to push him too far: having a potentially dangerous creature close to you and irritating him was not the best idea one could have.
The girl stretched her hand toward him, but closed it and moved it back to her lap. If he was a human, she could touch his shoulder or his hand to assure him about her good intentions, but in the present case she couldn’t be sure of how he was going to react to her gesture. The best way to proceed was, after all, continuing to speak.
- Listen… I don’t know if can understand what I’m saying, but I just want to help you, right? So, if you have a problem, you can show me, and I will do my best. You don’t need to be afraid.
And for the second time, she held back a scream: for the first time, the seaman spoke.

Son Goku // Kakarot
Tumblr media
Age: 43 (Main verse, accounts for lost years in Hyperbolic Time Chamber, Goku’s physical age places him somewhere in his mid-30s)(Saiyans retain a physical prime for much longer than humans so Goku can easily be mistook for a person in his late 20s)(As of Age 780) Aliases: Gokawah (Mispronunciation by The World Tournament Announcer), Kong Date of Birth: April 16 Place of Birth: Birthing Facility 4, Vegetopolis, Planet Vegeta Species: Saiyan
Universe Inspiration: Manga/DBS Anime-Inspired Composite Goku (may have traits from GT and Xenoverse games occasionally)
Appearance Goku is an adult of above average height (175 cm/5′9″), with dark hair and eyes. His expression is generally friendly and amicable. Goku’s eyes are often compared to other saiyans for usually being softer, and more rounded, only growing narrow and intense during moments of emotional heat. When going super saiyan, Goku’s eyes take on a tealish-green color.
Like all saiyans, Goku’s hair is notably distinct, having a wild shape to it, being composed of larger spikes, having a windswept appearance almost permanently. Another hallmark attribute of his species is the fact that Goku’s hair largely maintains its characteristics as he ages, not being disproportionate at any age, negating his need to cut hair, and keeping its shape non-rigidly, making other styles almost impossible. When his hair IS shortened unduly, either in part or as a whole, it will grow back to its natural state like typical hair.
As a child Goku was very short and stocky, so much so that through his adolescence he was often mistook for a child of under ten, but after experiencing several significant growth spurts that are consistent among full-blooded saiyans, Goku’s build became more slim, still having muscle built from practicing martial arts and strength training. Upon taking on more intense training, for a time, Goku became notably bulkier, though this has receded as Goku’s refocused on more technical training, and endurance-based tests, as his body has seemed to acclimate to the intense conditions that he developed his herculean strength under. When transforming into higher levels of super saiyan, Goku’s muscles shore in size once more.
When charging his chi, Goku’s aura is largely colorless, not taking on any particular visual element besides the direct results of his energy manifestation. However, upon transforming, Goku’s aura often changes according to the transformation at-hand. It’s implied that he has conscious control over the color of his aura in this way. When using Super Saiyan at any level, his aura takes on a yellow-gold color, growing darker with each subsequent form, until 4 where it becomes pink-red. After becoming a Super Saiyan God his chi becomes a fiery red. Once he’s learned how to pressurize his chi and use it like a GoD, Goku’s energy often has a light lining of white at the edges, this may be a subconscious result of the way he’s utilizing his energy. When using Super Saiyan Blue, Goku’s chi becomes intensely blue. At any time that he uses Kaioken, Goku’s aura becomes so powerful that even his body appears to be the same deep crimson as his aura.
Goku usually dresses comfortably, often favoring a gi, with trousers, a pair of boots in which he’s tucked the legs of his gi, wristbands, and underclothing. Most commonly, Goku wears a gi that’s orange in color, although from time to time he changes to a blue outfit instead. When not wearing martial arts clothing, Goku will favor simple farming clothes, including a favorite leather jacket with a fur lining, or a jumpsuit for training, on occasion.
Personality Laid-back and friendly, Son Goku is a personable individual who makes friends easily. With an eager desire to see new things, and fight strong opponents, he is a wandering soul, often confused for a flake, or a deadbeat by others who hold certain expectations for people to contribute to society in typical ways. This drive to experience often leads Goku to leave with little notice, for long stretches of time, to have adventures. Coupled with having only had passing relationships as a youth, Goku often doesn’t invest a great amount of time with his loved ones, having not even seen his closest friend for nearly half a decade following the final battle with Piccolo.
With a drive to grow stronger, and test that strength, Goku often wishes to spend the majority of his time training. It seems that Goku is at his happiest then, or when he’s utilizing the fruits of his labors against a powerful opponent. It’s easy for the saiyan to grow excitable at the mere mention that an individual may be strong. In the past, Goku has proven to be selfish in this pursuit as well. Disregarding the safety of others, or the very consequences of his battles, he will often endanger nearly anyone to have a chance at an opponent.
Like all saiyans, Goku has a powerful love of food, with a voracious appetite that demands to be sated. If his hunger goes unsatisfied for too long, Goku’s even been known to become physically weak or ill. This informs his marriage to Chi-Chi who, being a highly proficient chef, rarely has a hard time keeping Goku happy for long with her cooking.
Biography (I’ll be real? A bio for Son Goku would be VERY lengthy even to include non-filler content, as the three main series installments themselves had quite a bit of length as well. In the interest of saving time, after having only managed to finish Dragon Ball, this bio was shaping up to be WAY too long for anyone to bother to read. In the interest of saving time, if you individually do not know what happened in Goku’s life, please refer to his article on the wiki.)
Skills, Abilities, and Powers -Superhuman Physical State: As a saiyan, Goku’s physical abilities naturally exceed that of a regular human adult, even as a child. While still twelve years-old Goku was shot with a handgun at fairly close range, with only a stinging pain for his trouble. In the same scene, he had lifted an automobile with some strain, and threw it onto its side. Over the course of the series, Goku continues to perform similar and more impressive feats of physicality, eventually scaling into a degree of immeasurability during Dragon Ball Super, having nearly matched the forces of Lord Beerus’s punches, creating tsunami-like shockwaves that grew stronger the further they traveled from their origin, becoming so destructive that if the two met again in a similar sort of bout, that very universe would fall apart. As Dragon Ball as a whole doesn’t often get hung up on specific measurements, or even concretely establishing WHAT the upper-limits of its characters are, it’s simply better to understand how Goku’s physicality stacks up in his own universe, relative to others of a similar nature. Goku is a generally balanced fighter, not placing a particular emphasis on strength, durability, or speed, at least over each other. He understands the necessity of all three, and the importance they play in any fight, and while he’s able to modulate them through his chi, Goku often seems to boost them all fairly equally, although I’m inclined to say if any, he favors durability and quickness slightly more than raw attacking power. If given 15 points, Goku would spread as-follows: Power: 4 Speed: 6 Durability: 5
-Superhuman Senses: Goku is able to perceive, and react, to things much more quickly and acutely than a normal human. This seems to be somewhat a result of his being a saiyan, but has been further honed through martial arts and chi training. Additionally, Goku has a very sensitive sense of smell, being able to smell food from far distances.
-Martial Arts Master: Goku is considered a master of martial arts, having developed a formless, improvisational, style that was largely influenced by Toriyama’s love of Jackie Chan films. As a child, Goku was taught a type of kung-fu that focused on function over form, using his small size against opponents in order to dodge his adult opponent’s attacks, while applying leverage to compensate for his size, despite a lack of need for this. Beyond this, Goku would have several teachers, Roshi would teach him the importance of his physical conditioning and mental sharpness/intelligence; Korin would teach Goku how to predict and anticipate the movements of others; Kami and Popo would focus on training Goku’s abilities with Chi, as well as helping him learn how to fight as an adult; and King Kai would further cement Goku’s need for conditioning, helping him master his speed, and ultimately his ability to use chi masterfully. In terms of overall style, Goku doesn’t have a firm one, but favors smooth and fluid motions, with a significant amount of counter-attacking and interception. While some might perceive Goku’s style to be simple and more akin to brawling, but this is simply due to Goku favoring economic movement, and strategy, both of which are more difficult to execute when focusing on maintaining a style, rather than simply fighting.
-Combat Genius: Due to a natural proclivity towards combat that Goku is possessed of, exceeding even that of more powerful saiyans, he is able to prepare effective strategies in the heat of battle. He has often used this to defeat foes who he would normally not be able to defeat. Additionally, repeated use of tactics don’t seem to work on Goku, as he can adapt to them, exploiting repetitive fighters.
-Technique Mimicry: Despite his relative weakness when compared to other saiyans, Goku is a natural knack for replicating the techniques of others. Needing to only seen most techniques performed once, be they physical or chi-based, Goku can replicate them effectively. He has even mimicked Berrus’s Hakai, although to a weaker degree. Goku cannot perfectly replicate complex or overly-powerful chi techniques, needing time and training to even master the Kamehameha.
-Chi Manipulation and Generation: A metaphysical energy that embodies life itself, mystical in nature but not strictly magic, Chi is influenced by many factor, both mental, physical, and spiritual. Saiyans have the inborn ability to manipulate their chi, allowing Goku to harness it into orbs of plasma, to then fire and create explosions, despite only seeing the kamehameha performed once. Chi is able to be used in a variety of functions, such as flight, blasts of energy, sabotage the chi and energy-based attacks of others, and enhancing physical attributes. The latter is something Goku does often, but must be aware in order to do so. Goku has been caught off-guard by relatively weak attacks, when not using his chi, so that he’d suffer injury. The depth of Goku’s chi-based abilities is currently unknown, but he has managed to manifest numerous physical and mental abilities through it. He has long-since passed the power of beings who could destroy planets many times larger than Earth without effort, and has managed to dwarf that of an individual who was said to be able to destroy an entire solar system with his full power. In truth, the only limitation to Goku’s abilities with chi does seem to be that he cannot exert more energy at once than he himself can sustain, as the force of his attacks never push or move him unless he allows it to. In the event that Goku does push himself too far, tax his chi too much, or otherwise uses his power too recklessly, Goku’s chi use can have consequences.
-Ultra Instinct: A state of being that is present in real-world martial arts, Ultra Instinct allows its user to react to their foes, attacking and defending without thought, in the most effective way possible. This state enhances his physical and mental abilities as well, akin to that of a transformation. Ultra Instinct is only accessible to Goku when he’s in a sufficiently dangerous situation, being unable to use it at-will, not making it a reliable technique. Goku once achieved a mastered state that allowed him to bridge the seemingly-impossible gap between himself and Jiren, a being who was more powerful than even the Gods of Destruction.
Chi-Based Abilities and Techniques: -Flight -Chi Sensing -Chi Transferal -Godly Chi Mastery -Regeneration -Energy Nullification -Telepathy -Chi Blasts --Finger Beams --Chi Waves -Kamehameha --Continuous Kamehameha (A variation which involves Goku firing multiple Kamehameha blasts from each hand) --Bending Kamehameha (A Kamehameha variation which more easily changes course) --Flying Kamehameha (A utilization of Kamehameha that Goku uses to fly through the air) --Twin Dragon Shot (A manipulated, spherical, version of the Kamehameha. Requires fine control) --MAX Power Kamehameha (A version of the Kamehameha in which Goku uses the full version of the technique. Produces the most power of a base form Kamehameha, but requires too much time to execute correctly) --Super Kamehameha (An advanced version of the Kamehameha, inefficient) --Kaio-Ken Kamehameha (A Kamehameha influenced by the multiplied Chi of Goku’s Kaio-ken) --Instant Kamehameha (A version of any Kamehameha fired directly following a use of his Instant Transmission) --True Kamehameha (An even stronger variation of Super Kamehameha, even less efficient, requires Goku to be in Super Saiyan 3 to use effectively) --Limitbreaker Kamehameha (A variation of Super Kamehameha that Goku uses during his Super Saiyan God form) ---Limit Break x10 Kamehameha (A variation of the Limitbreaker Kamehameha which Goku can fire in his Super Saiyan 4 transformation) --God Kamehameha (The base Kamehameha fired with godly power, during any Godly transformation. Individually as powerful as any Super Kamehameha, but as efficient as the base technique) ---10x God Kamehameha (A variation of the God Kamehameha that is roughly ten times stronger than the original. Can only be used is Super Saiyan Blue Kaio-ken or stronger forms) ---Transcendent God Kamehameha (A variation of the Super Kamehameha fired in a godly form, is extremely potent) --Final Kamehameha (A combined technique between Goku’s Kamehameha and Vegeta’s Final Flash) --Imperfect Instinct Kamehameha (A variant of the kamehameha that is fired in any of the incomplete versions of Goku’s Ultra Instinct technique. The output is greater than a standard God Kamehameha) ---Supreme Kamehameha (An enhanced version of the Imperial Instinct Kamehameha used during Goku’s perfected Ultra Instinct) ---Ultimate Instinct Kamehameha (The Super Kamehameha fired in Goku’s Perfected Ultra Instinct form. The strongest variant of the technique) --Kamehameha Blaster (A variant of the Kamehameha that is followed with a series of smaller blasts) --10x Kamehameha (A variation of Kamehameha that requires more charging, but takes on a red color, and is ten times as strong as the base technique) --Dimension Breaker (A Kamehameha that rips through dimensional barriers) -Kiai --Spirit Shot --Invisible Eye Blast --Soaring Fist -Destructo Disc --Destructo Disc Hexa Blast -Explosive Wave --Super Explosive Wave -Spirit Bomb --Fusion Spirit Bomb --Large Spirit Bomb --Instant Spirit Bomb --Super Spirit Bomb --Universe 7′s Spirit Bomb -Hakai (Goku’s version of the GoD’s Destructive technique. Goku must put all of his SSB aura into a single attack. This attack leaves him fully drained after use) -Evil Containment Wave -Energy Barrier --Super Guard (Xenoverse 2) --Vanisher Guard (Xenoverse 2) -Chi Landmine -God Bind -Solar Flare -Fusion Dance -Black Power Ball (Xenoverse 2) -Black Kamehameha (Xenoverse 2) -Azure Dragon Sword: model Energy Blade (Xenoverse 2) -Divine Lasso (Xenoverse 2) -Evil Eyes (Xenoverse 2) -Oozaru --Golden Oozaru (A use of Super Saiyan while in his Oozaru form) ---Super Saiyan 4 (A Super Saiyan transformation that ascends through Oozaru. Its strength relative to the other forms, but is presumably at least 10x stronger than Super Saiyan 3) ----Super Full Power Saiyan 4 (By absorbing extremely large amounts of power from other saiyans, Super Saiyan 4 is enhanced further) -Kaio-ken (A technique that multiplies Goku’s Chi for a “heart beat”. His power and speed are multiplied by two at base, but can be enhanced further, and maintained for longer. The greater the multiplier, or time that the technique is used, the more backlash Goku will suffer) -Super Saiyan (An ancient prophecy personified, this transformation increases Goku’s chi by roughly 50x. This form also enhances his physical attributes similarly. If used without mastery, Goku begins to lose his composure and actively has to keep himself from losing control) --Spirit Bomb Super Saiyan (By absorbing his Spirit Bomb, Goku is able to enhance his Super Saiyan form briefly) --Super Saiyan Second Grade (An enhancement of the base Super Saiyan form, Goku’s speed and strength are further enhanced through the stimulation of his nervous system by his chi. Is much faster and stronger than base Super Saiyan, but tires more quickly) ---Super Saiyan Third Grade (A further advanced version of Second Grade. The body no longer inhibits itself, acting at full power, at 100% strength and stamina. This form makes Goku slower, and drains his body’s energy drastically) --Super Saiyan Full Power (A mastered, most efficient, version of the Super Saiyan form) --Super Kaio-ken (Super Saiyan with the Kaio-ken multiplier used on top of it. Dangerous to use for extended periods) --Super Saiyan 2 (The “Fourth Grade” of Super Saiyan. A breaking of the base Super Saiyan form’s limit, enhanced 2x from the Super Saiyan form [100x the user’s base form]. Does not suffer from the Second Grade or Third Grade weaknesses. It grows difficult to control oneself while using this form) ---Super Saiyan: Berserk (A version of Super Saiyan 2 that takes advantage of its lessened inhibitions. This form is corrupted by outside chi) --Super Saiyan 3 (The “Fifth Grade” of Super Saiyan. "My dearest gays and lesbians —
I’ve loved you since before I even knew you. From a young age, I was drawn to your transgressive sexuality and gender expression, your courage to be yourselves in the face of oppression, your fabulous rainbows and your sensible shoes.
I’ve marched in your parades, joined and organized protests for your rights, volunteered with your local groups and worked for your most prominent national organization.
I’ve loved you fiercely and advocated for you tirelessly. But I’ve finally accepted the fact that you will never love me back because I’m a bisexual woman, and you have shown me time and again that you are not here for me or my community, despite the numerous disparities we face in comparison to you and the non-LGBTQ community.
You have shown me time and again that you are not here for me or my community.
When I was a newly out baby bi, I co-founded the first ever LGBT student organization at my Southern Baptist university with this beautiful and charming lesbian classmate with whom I fell madly and angstily in love. She was the first of many who told me I should just “choose” to be a lesbian.
Then there was the time I was at a drag show and the performer came up to me and asked me why I was at a gay bar. I said “I’m bisexual” into her microphone, and she cackled wildly and said, “Oh honey, we all know that’s just a stop on the way to gay town.”
In grad school, a “straight” female friend repeatedly called me greedy and suggested I was promiscuous whenever I mentioned my bisexuality, even though we slept together several times. But she wasn’t gay, and apparently bisexuality wasn’t a valid option.
Then there were the countless times one of you told me my identity wasn’t real, was just a phase, or that I wasn’t committed to the cause because I could choose to pass as straight.
There were the countless times one of you told me my identity wasn’t real.
Too many times, I thought you might be right, that my identity was something strange, that maybe I was fooling myself about my lifetime of attraction to people across the gender spectrum. And I sincerely thought if I just kept fighting for you, for all of us, that I would prove myself worthy of your love and acceptance.
Then I took a two-year fellowship working at the nation’s largest LGBT civil rights nonprofit. I knew going in that, like any large movement organization, they had a rocky past with both trans and bi communities, and a tendency toward centrist politics. But I thought maybe I could effect change from within. What a silly, naive bisexual I was.
By far, the most pervasive biphobia I have ever experienced was during my two years working at the Human Rights Campaign. When I started in 2014, the Human Rights Campaign website didn’t have a single bi-specific resource, much less a topics page about one of the four identities it claimed to represent.
The staff who identified as bisexual were rarely empowered or allowed to do bi-specific programmatic work, if they were even out to their gay and lesbian colleagues.
I met bi community leaders, and tried desperately to heal the deep rifts and end the organization’s longstanding neglect. I believed HRC could do better for a group that constituted half of the LGBTQ community.
In my two-year tenure, with the support and feedback of a small crew of wonderful coworkers, I created the content for a bisexual page on the HRC website, wrote three of the five publications for the page and edited a fourth, all co-branded with national bi advocacy organizations, wrote nearly all of the bi-related blog content and op-eds, organized an employee resource group for bi, queer, pansexual and fluid (bi+) coworkers, worked with the diversity staff to bring in bi community leaders to do trainings, developed and conducted my own bi community cultural competency trainings for board members, staff, and volunteers and coordinated all of HRC’s programming for Bisexual Awareness Week.
When bi community leader Robyn Ochs came to do a training with HRC staff, a cis white gay man who directed the organization’s entire field operation said, “You know, I just never think about bisexual people.” No shit you don’t.
Six months have passed since I left HRC, and it seems that a handful of blog and social media posts during Bisexual Awareness Week last September is the only thing the organization could muster in my absence. Half of my out bi+ coworkers (love y’all!) have left and the others don’t have positions that allow them to do the kind of work I was able to do.
It seems clear that what started with one angry bisexual attempting to effect change from within also ended when that same angry bisexual left.
To be fair, HRC isn’t by any means the only national LGBTQ organization with this problem. Several national groups have a habit of using “gay and transgender” as shorthand for the LGBTQ community, completely erasing us. Although a few of our national LGBTQ organizations have openly bi+ staff who are doing amazing bi-specific advocacy, our numbers are dwindling and virtually no one else is doing bi work in these organizations except for those few brave souls.
To put it bluntly, when bisexual people aren’t around to advocate for ourselves and push for change from within, that work simply doesn’t get done, because the vast majority of y’all lesbians and gay men don’t give a shit about us. And yet, we still fight for you and with you.
When Amber Heard got the shit beat out of her by Johnny Depp and the media blamed her bisexuality, you were silent. When right-wing weirdos launched a public attack on a native bi+ leader who spoke at a White House event, more silence. When gay icon Boy George went on a blatantly biphobic Twitter rant, still nothing.
In the words of esteemed and dedicated bi+ leader Faith Cheltenham, former president of BiNet USA and a personal mentor:
Until bisexuals stop being the unmentionables of the LGBTQIA community we will continue to be the punching bags of both gay and straight, with respite nowhere to be found. If bisexuals believe there are circles of influence that they are systematically prevented from accessing to their detriment, they believe correctly.
Until bisexuals find equitable representations of their organizations in litigator roundtables, national and state policy roundtables, legal policy teams, national and state transgender policy roundtables, rapid response communications groups or faith working groups, we should protest our exclusion.
Lesbians and gay men, this angry bisexual is tired of being your afterthought. I’m exhausted by showing up for you, time and again, with no reciprocity. I’m tired of facing more biphobia from organizations that claim to represent bi+ people than I do in the straight cis world.
Lesbians and gay men, this angry bisexual is tired of being your afterthought.
I’m tired of trying to prove that I’m worthy of your love while you seem to forget or deny that I exist.
Bisexual people are tired of being told that our voices, our needs, our lives are a distraction from the “real” issues, when we constitute half of what you claim as your LGBT community.
And more than anything, I am tired of watching my fellow bi+ advocates — beautiful, talented and resilient people — burn out, break down, get fired for standing our ground and take our own lives because you make it so fucking hard for us to feel safe and affirmed.
Even after 15 years of being out, my voice still shakes sometimes when I say the word “bisexual” aloud to one of you, and I get a little jolt of adrenaline, bracing for the snarky comment, the rolled eyes, the dismissal of my existence.
I’m exhausted by showing up for you, time and again, with no reciprocity.
Let me be clear about what is at stake here, lesbians and gays. Bisexual people are literally dying because of your neglect, erasure and exclusion. We are sicker, both physically and mentally, than you are because more of us are closeted from our communities and our healthcare providers.
Our youth face more bullying and harassment and higher risk of suicide than their gay and lesbian peers do, and we all have less social support.
Sixty-one percent of bisexual women such as myself will be raped, beaten or stalked by our intimate partners — and as Heard’s experience shows, our identities will likely be blamed for our own abuse. For the numerous bi+ community members who are also transgender, disabled and/or people of color, these staggering disparities are compounded.
I watched HRC make its own bed in 2016, once again ignoring the voices of the LGBTQ community’s most marginalized members, and dumping its resources into mind bogglingly ill-conceived endorsements, most notably the political campaign of a candidate who waited until the last possible moment to “evolve” on marriage equality (sorry that job didn’t pan out for you, Chad).
I knew the time was coming when bisexuals, queers, transgender people, people of color, undocumented and other marginalized groups within the LGBTQ community would be asked to once again push aside our needs, close ranks with white cis gays and lesbians, and overlook our differences — you know, for the sake of preserving marriage equality.
And sure enough, here we are, fighting for scraps from a table at which we have never been welcome, and once again being told that our needs — our very survival — don’t warrant attention, visibility, funding or resources.
As the LGBTQ community faces an uncertain future under Donald Trump’s presidency, I’m giving up on you, gays and lesbians. I don’t love you the same way anymore. You broke my heart too many times. I will no longer fight for the liberation of people who actively perpetuate my community’s oppression.
I’m too busy just trying to survive."
