A silly headcanon of mine is that when Tom tells Greg that he "Took the wrong drugs, in the wrong order, and I cant get happy." he secretly meant that he fell in love with the wrong person, at the wrong time, and that's why he cant get happy. He was realizing it at that moment because Greg was happily gushing about Comfry, and that sharply juxtaposed how sad and alone he was feeling. I know its stated that he was doing coke at the party, but that was never shown, and Succession has shown drug use before, so it would have made sense to have actually seen it happen. I also like to think of it this way, not only because I'm a shipper, duh, but because of the common phrase, "love is a drug", and if anyone were to use coded language to hide their true feelings, it'd be Tom, as we all remember Sporus and Nero, and how that came to fruition later. A little cherry on top: when Shiv and Tom are heading home after the party, Tom tells her he'll be staying up late, yes, the insinuation is because of the drugs, but in my headcanon I like to think its actually because he is going to stay up all night thinking about Greg with Comfry, knowing he'll be too upset to sleep for a long time.

Too much birthday is the ultimate tomgreg episode, right? After that one is impossible to deny that Tom has feelings for Greg. The obvious jealousy, Tom saying Greg “ruined it” and now he can’t be happy and it’s Gregs fault like… I was watching that SHOCKED!!! What an absolute fanfic thing to happen. And it’s also the ep with the improvised forehead kiss??? THE PROVE IT SCENE???? Tomgreg happening in reality or not, there is no way of interpreting Tom’s character in a way where he isn’t in love with Greg and too much birthday solidified that for me. And idc Nicks improvised “prove it” also makes Greg’s feelings towards Tom canon to me too!!!
