thankfully, my rp experiences have been pretty good. i don’t ever find myself in drama and i like to think because i’ve learned to be pretty up front and leave no room for misconceptions to allow it. i think the only truly bad experience i had happened many years ago when i was playing dick gr*yson and someone who claimed they were about to be eighteen was pretty insistent on shipping with me. i shot her down, she was a minor and i’m not and she threw a little fit. i shut that down too. i’m not here to deal with temper tantrums because i won’t rp with you.

not that i am aware. so, either someone is very sneaky or i have lucked out !

i know the popular fandom sorting for steve is in gryffindor, but like?? first off, putting aside the perception of slytherin being bad guys, cause no —— yes, captain america is so gryffindor it hurts, but when you look at steve rogers, the kid who lied and weaseled his way into the army by any means necessary, that guy who will do whatever it takes no matter the consequence, the guy who puts almost impossible standards and expectations on people around him? 

he’s definitely got some slytherin traits and i’ll fight for it.

the camp still was a hive of noise and the tarp from the medical tent that he was in barely muted that .   yet the sound still faded out into a vague hum as the pounding in his ears defended everything else and his mind ran over and over in circles .     he’d been dragged away half dead ,   beaten ,  coughing his lungs up and now ?    well now ,  except from the general bone deep tiredness and general ache ....  he seems to be fine .    hell ,  he didn’t want to think about why that might be .

rubbing his hands over the back of his head ,   bucky looked up as the tent flap opened and the noise of outside came rushing back .    shouting and bustling but that was what happened with a good few hundred were liberated from a forced labour camp needed to be housed and looked after in an already thinly stretched camp .              there’s a small wince as his everything ached as he sat up straight but he just huffed a little when he saw a familiar furrow on the brow of the man who looked both similar and not at the same time  ---he was over a foot taller and a hundred pounds heavier for fucks sake .       

   he had no idea what steve was frowning about until a finger stroked over the faded line on his cheek  ----it had been bloodied when they’d arrived back but once that had been cleared off by the medics they’d just found a scabbing scar underneath .          the corner of his mouth ticked upwards  ,    honestly he had no fixed idea about what had caused it but he distantly remember something mental closing over one his eye and around the other side of his face ,   yeah it was probably that .    -------------      “  must’a hit it on something ,  sharpnel ,  whatever . ”  

      ---------- but he wasn’t gonna tell steve that .

     days after the triskelion had fallen,  she’d continue to watch unfolding news coverage of the event.    local press only had information on the building’s integrity and not the organisation-wide sabotage that went down with it.    sharon hadn’t been surprised  –––  even with the ranks of SHIELD fallen,  both sides’d kept their business private enough that any aftermath would be dealt with in the shadows.

     it’s now an inescapable visual as she weaves through the late afternoon crowd past an electronics store,  the crumbled headquarters brought up on several tv screens on display at the large front window.    there’s not enough time to stand and watch the report,  but she can predict what’s left to ask of any of it by now.    ––––  what happened to captain america ?  what’s going to happen to SHIELD ?  how do we know we’re safe ?   ––––  and at the opening in the pavement drops to the street,  she crosses haphazardly between the traffic,  following the brick pavement into a park.

     the path divides in two as it crests around a small hill,  but a dark baseball cap catches her eye almost immediately to the side.    sharon sets her frame against a streetlight by an occupied side of a bench.    “  ––––  hey,  you.  ”

lying wouldn’t do the trick in this scenario.  there’s no fault in steve’s statement, because, yes, he should be resting.  thing is, he’s been ‘resting’ for the past three days as it is, and though he understands catching a break and letting his body recover, it feels like he long surpassed that period of time where he needs to be laying in a bed with a book that he’s read a thousand times  ( usually read when he can’t fall asleep ).  he finds it unusual as it is for steve to be grilling him on this, because he should understand where he’s coming from more than most, but he supposes the man's also a mother-hen most other days.  sam sinks into the couch with a quiet little grunt, mug of tea in hand.  “ this is resting, ”  he responds with a tilt of his head.  “ just a change of scenery for said resting.  and some tea.  you should try it sometime. ”  he pauses, dramatically.  “ oh wait, you don’t ever stop. ”  and he means it, teasingly, really.

it is admirable how much steve works, how much he pushes his body, but he’s sure there’s plenty to dissect about that part of him, most of which is being brushed aside as of he feels it has little to do with him at the moment.  as far as he’s concerned, steve probably doesn’t think much of it, despite how conflicting it could be in the back of his mind.  sam just isn’t sure if there’s ever really a right time to bring it up, so maybe be should just ask some day.  out of the blue.  catch him off guard, and maybe he could pull out something… anything.  a reaction or actual, liable words.  not that he wants to be in the business of psychoanalysing his friends.  sam just worries— for good reason, and besides, it’s part of the charm.  “ c’mon.  i’m fine.  didn’t you just come back from somethin’?  i feel like our roles have been reversed. ”

RE:   S/AM W/ILSON AND F/ATWS.   

BASIC INFORMATION:   i understand what i’m doing with this verse is changing a big portion of the show, and characters involved may not agree. i’m open to shifting the plots around, however this is the verse i will be defaulting to. (PERSONALS DNI)

CONNECTIONS:   this verse is tied to @toscrve​​​​​​ / autumn’s steve. i’m open to writing with other steve rpers, but otherwise i’m going to be referring to steve as both alive and not old. additionally, this verse is tied to @falquin​​​​​​ / sarah’s j/oaquin, as the show severely diminished his role and we need to change that. 

PLOT POINTS AND DIVERGENCES:   under the cut for length. 

PRE SERIES:   while steve did give sam the shield, the american government was still not done with steve and sam after the events of civil war and infinity war. the shield was taken during the pardoning trials, with the unspoken notion that it wasn’t going to be given back. both steve and sam were powerless to do anything about it, but they were determined to continue to help people regardless. when steve when underground as commander, sam went back to acting as the falcon. he did not work for the air force — he isn’t interested in serving ever again, and is past that point of trauma in his life. while he doesn’t have the title of “avenger” necessarily, that’s the idea of his role. j/oaquin t/orres is his liaison in the air force. he came at the personal recommendation of steve, as the two had met in his grief counseling sessions during the snap. sam didn’t want to deal with the air force directly but needed eyes and ears, and t/orres became that role for him. because of how many missions sam worked with t/orres, the two became very close, and are already incredibly good friends when the series starts. this sets up where sam is at the beginning of the series. 

EPISODE ONE:   sam seeing j/ohn w/alker receive the shield is one of the hardest moments of his life; he was forced to give up the shield, and now it was being given to someone else. he already was very bitter, but this causes a lot more animosity with the government, not that a large amount of this didn’t already exist. this spurs him to move into action, and also causes steve to come out from underground work. 

EPISODE TWO:   steve is present with both sam and bucky during this episode. sam and bucky don’t have the same level of animosity, only disagreeing on some of their methods and grudges because of the events of ca:tws. they don’t hate each other, and instead more banter and won’t admit they like each other. 

EPISODE THREE:   there was no way that steve could go to the prison with sam and bucky, as it would be way too noticeable. so, sam and bucky go to the prison to talk to z/emo together, and then once he’s been broken out, there’s no chance to get steve back with them. (he’d be too noticeable in m/adripoor too anyways.) sam despises z/emo, especially after how he treats bucky. when meeting up with s/haron, sam has tried to get a pardon for her, but seeing as nobody could get a hold of her either, the government refused, and sam was in no position to argue anything himself as he too was on a conditional pardoning. during this episode, t/orres begins to help sam and bucky behind the scenes with information regarding the f/lagsmashers, getting it to them before w/alker. sam is incredibly grateful that t/orres trusts him despite breaking z/emo out of prison. 

EPISODE FOUR:   when receiving the call from sarah about k/arli, sam immediately calls steve. steve goes to protect sarah and his nephews until the end of the j/ohn w/alker fight, when sam has retrieved the shield. 

EPISODE FIVE:   t/orres comes back with sam to louisiana with the broken wings. while t/orres fixes them, sam, bucky, and steve fix the boat. sam has his training with the shield, and starts to teach t/orres how to fly. there’s nobody else he’d want to pass the falcon mantle onto, especially as close as they are and since sam is ready to be cap. the suit was created for him by shuri at bucky’s request, and before he does anything else, he calls her to thank her. 

EPISODE SIX:   sam asked t/orres not to use the wings in the final fight, as the f/lagsmashers were incredibly dangerous and willing to kill — instead he asked him to be his eyes and ears again, and promised he’d be in the next fight flying too. steve is also present, on the ground with bucky (instead of w/alker, because there’s no way they’d willingly work with that man after his murderous rage). after sam’s speech, him and steve hug on national television, also showing steve’s choice to have made sam cap, and sam taking over the mantle. additionally, t/orres was in the crowd, and once they were off to the side, sam hugs him too. both steve and t/orres are present at the cookout party at the end as well! 

POST SERIES:   sam continues to train t/orres, and acts as cap alongside bucky and steve. he is done listening to the government’s opinions on if he should or shouldn’t be cap, and is going to be the hero the world needs moving forward.

it’s a late night. hidden away comfortably in tony’s workshop at the compound, plates long ago set to the side. tony’s got his feet up on the edge of steve’s chair. it’s companionable, a satisfied feeling in the air for a job well done; their mission to infiltrate, disassemble and destroy a HYDRA base a resounding success. sure, there had been a few hiccups along the way and tony’s left wrist is in a brace, again, but they succeeded. and brought home far more data than they were even expecting to get. 

maybe combing through the data should wait until they’re both less tired. but they’ve eaten their fill and tony has to leave tomorrow, spend a couple of days in LA in SI meetings. now is a good moment. comments fly back and forth between them, notes and adjustments to future plans and strategies, a mixture of laughter and pure bewilderment at some of HYDRA’s weirder plans. grim moments of horror at some of the reports they read. 

tony finds a cache of files on zola ---- his work on his own brain, on AI, and he carefully portions the research away to be studied later. but mixed in with that data is an innocuous file titled ‘mission data 1991’. tony frowns. he lifts his gaze to check with steve, a casual question as he postpones opening the file in favour of reaching a long arm for his drink.

“wasn’t zola dead by 1991?”
