Gotta love the 9th division, especially AEIWAM edition
I wanted to write a little tid bit about Maegawa and it got out of hand
Surviving the Gōtei 13 for Dummies

Chapter 12: The 9th Division
Sleeping bags in offices and early shifts to babysit the printing press are just some of the quirks of the 9th Division. Less temperamental than the 11th and about as stressed as the 4th, the 9th division sports quite the characters.
Chance of Survival in this division is rather high compared to others. Chance of Screwed-Up Sleep Schedules and close relationships to Coffee Kami is even higher.

1. Captain Tōsen Kaname
Current Captain of the 9th Division. Hardworking, serious and a master of paperwork management. Captain Tōsen shines with a strong sense of morality, dedication and kindness. The blind Captain of the 9th sees a lot more than most realize. Overall witty, caring and determined.
3 Helpful Tips for Dealing with Captain Tōsen
Do not speak about archiving unless you're ready to sit through a three hour presentation with slideshow
No horoscopes. Just don’t.
Misdemeanour may lead to getting your own article in the papers (this is not a good thing)

Topics Captain Tōsen is a great help with:
Surprisingly, Archiving. If you’re in need of organization regarding paperwork, books, research articles, etc., Captain Tōsen is very apt in the development and usage of organizational systems for exactly those kinds of things.
Advice. Though usually very busy, Captain Tōsen is caring and level-headed, a good listener who knows when to provide comfort and when to offer a possible solution. When in a bind, the 9th Division Captain is known for supporting his subordinates with a unique perspective and helpful, if sometimes stern advice.

2. Vice-Captain Hisagi Shūhei
Captain Tōsen’s loyal and hardworking Vice-Captain. May seem very serious and stoic but is easily flustered (f.E. by: 3rd Seat Maegawa, as seen below; Captain Matsumoto Rangiku as seen in Ch.13). Overall mature, loyal and very proper, despite his rather delinquent-like appearance.
3 Helpful Tips to Dealing with Vice-Captain Hisagi
Don't be intimidated by his appearance. Vice-Captain Hisagi is a very kind and well meaning Shinigami.
Easily put out of commission when in combination with Squad 9's 3rd Seat. If you need him distracted try to get him to 3rd Seat Maegawa. If the situation allows, Squad 10s Vice Captain Matsumoto has the same effect.
Under no circumstance bad mouth former 9th Division Captain Muguruma Kensei. Don't.
Topics Vice-Captain Hisagi is a great help with:
Guitar! Picked up one of those in the living world and his squad stopped complaining about the noise after the Ryoka Sado taught him. Now he’s good enough to teach others himself, not that he found anyone yet
Again, despite appearances, Vice-Captain Hisagi is a surprisingly good cook. Excels at making good food out of cheap ingredients, due to money being tight. 3rd Seat Maegawa swears by his food. Decent at couponing.
3. Third Seated Officer Maegawa Asahi
One of the 7 Wonders of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads. Even in the 9th Division no one is sure when exactly Maegawa joined, but recalls her already being there when they themselves joined. When enquired upon this, she is quick to deflect the question and change topic. Whether this is because she’s trying to keep up the rumour herself or if there’s actually something going on is so far unconfirmed. Overall gentle and caring but surprisingly temperamental at times.

3 Helpful Tips to Dealing with 3rd Seat Maegawa:
Do not enquire about her age. If she deflects DO NOT press further - this WILL lead to injuries!
Do not intrude on her frequent sword meditations or speak ill of Zanpakutō in front of her (whyever you would do that is beyond me anyway)
Try not to breach the topic of 9th division captains. Maegawa _can_ and _will_ silence you one way or another
Topics 3rd Seat Maegawa is a great help with:
Swordsmanship - Maegawa is a surprisingly skilled swordswoman, able to take on multiple Squad 11 members at once. Her keen observation and surprising willingness to help out make her a great teacher when faced with difficulties in the way of the sword.
Sword Spirit Reconciliation and Mediation – Enamoured with Zanpakutō and their quirks, paired with an excellent ability to see things from different perspectives, Maegawa has sorted out many a twixt between Shinigami and Zanpakutō. If there’s a disagreement or problem with your sword spirit, consulting 3rd Seat Maegawa is a very good bet. She does not tolerate negligence and mistreatment of sword spirits, so don’t expect her to side with you no matter the case and don’t bother even going if you’re not ready to put some work into mending that relationship

Aizen: Is anyone going to tell me what's going on in here?!
Tosen: It's kind of complicated, but Gimmjow-
Aizen: Got it. Forget I asked

KANAME TOSEN - Bleach Character ANALYSIS | Within the Darkness Beware manga spoilers in this video! One of Bleach's most complex villains, Kaname Tosen is an often overlooked antagonist. But while he might not be the most charismatic of Bleach's fantastic rogues gallery, Tosen is arguably one of the best written in the series. In this video, we dive into what makes this character who he is, his motivations, his beliefs, his timeline, and perhaps one of the best fights in all of Bleach. Enjoy!Chapters: Intro - 00:00 Character Overview - 01:54 Visual Design - 07:21 Character Arc - 08:53 Role in the Story - 13:45 Arrancar Arc - 21:50 Aizen, Gin & Tosen's Dynamic - 29:00 Vs Komamura & Hisagi - 31:13 Tosen's Death - 44:37 comments on youtube
I think Tosen is the same guy he was in SS. He knows that Uryu has nothing to do with the justice he seeks and humans have nothing to do with SS's issues, that is why he cries, because he knows SS will execute Uryu especially as a Quincy, Yamamoto and Mayuri would have never let him live. When he kills Shinigami and follows Aizen's order, he probably knows he's not being righteous, but it is necessary evil to allow Aizen to change the whole system.
I still remember that initial Tosen flashback with Komamura where he first states his philosophy on justice being "the path that sees the least bloodshed" and kind of thinking to myself, "but he's blind. that's a kind of dangerous philosophy to have." and lo and behold, when the twist is revealed and Komamura questions Tosen's honor, he doubles down saying the path he walks is justice because he sees no bloodshed. It's just so chilling to have a character who is so blatantly willing to commit atrocities for the sake of his goals while justifying whatever he does with a loophole in his philosophy.
Justice is blind after all
The prideful Komamura ultimately losing himself to revenge hits different when you understand Tosen closer.
I think the walking the same path could be the fact that Sajin is devotedly loyal to Yamamoto, while Tosen is the same to Aizen which is also why he knew he would cross swords with him because even though they're friends they follow two different lords and neither's loyalty is shakeable. at first I thought Aizen killed Tousen because he was changing sides, but when the soul suicide thing came about, I thought it couldn't be it because Tousen is the Ultimate Vizard. He controls his hollow perfectly and he's not a quincy, hollow powers are compatible. He's Aizen's masterpiece that white and all the arrancars amounted to. CFYOW's explanation worked really well for me. As for how Aizen did it, I think it was either a kido he planted in him when he promised to finish him off or maybe it was a condition he imposed with the hogyoku when he hollowified him. And I don't see it as direspectful, the attack was probably programmed and it might have been gruesome but nothing could be left of him or SS would have kept his body and studied it. Mayuri would have been all over his corpse. It's honestly ironic, both Kaname and Komamura met their ends, of life or service, as the most devout followers of their idols. Kaname went out a grotesque model of Aizens ideals, nearly perfect in all ways of design. Komamura ripped out his own heart, set aside any ideals or dreams he had for himself, for the honour of Yamamoto and the Soul Society he built. They both dipped into darker parts of themselves to pursue those goals, that ultimately became their undoing. Hubris and rage.
I love how Tousen's character exposes one of core human weaknesses,  blindness to our own subconscious and to our own feelings. He thinks he functions entirely based on rationality as pursuer of justice, but everyone from outside can see that there are deep emotions running behind of all this. A pitch black desire for revenge.
I think it is really interesting how Tosen and Gin help show the duality of Aizen. With Tosen, you can understand why he is rebelling against a Society that is so corrupt that a man can kill his wife, who had done nothing wrong, on what was basically a whim and walk away pretty much without punishment. But, there is also the undeniable fact, that he also craved power and enjoyed taunting even the people that cared about him. While Gin, seems like he enjoyes being cruel, making snide remarks and toying with people. But, deep down, he is actually seeking to right a wrong done by someone so far above him, that he had no choice but to join them, in order to get a chance of making things better. I think there's definitely some symbolism in how Tosen is blind, but is Aizen's most loyal confidant, while Gin intentionally keeps his eyes closed, and because of this, Aizen could always sense that Gin was never truly loyal to him. Even the fact that Tosen turns into a literal monster and Gin views himself as a metaphorical monster, and how Aizen ends up becoming both. There is definitely a lot you can take away from that trio of characters and I really like how much depth Kubo was able to give all three of them.
