UNIT PROFILE– 761ST TANK BATTALION (COLORED) BLACK HISTORY MONTH Of the three armor battalions composed of Black soldiers in the segregated U.S. Army of World War II, the 761st "Black Panther" Tank Battalion is arguably the best known. Constituted on 15 March 1942 in the Army of the United States and activated on 1 April 1942 at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana, it was initially equipped with the M5 Stuart tank but transitioned to the M4 Sherman when the Army began fielding that system to the non-divisional armor units. After the battalion completed training in the United States - which included serving as the "aggressor" force against the student units of the tank destroyer school and participation in a phase of the Louisiana Maneuvers, the 761st was deemed "combat ready" and shipped overseas to the European Theater of Operations. Following a short stay in England, the battalion arrived in France on 10 October 1944, and was assigned to the Third Army commanded by the legendary proponent of armored warfare, Lieutenant General George S. Patton Jr. As a separate tank battalion, the 761st was attached to Infantry divisions - which had no organic armor units - for combat operations. As such, the "Black Panthers" entered combat for the first time on 7 November 1944. In 183 days of combat operations while attached to the all-white 26th, 71st, 79th, 87th, 95th and 103d Infantry Divisions, the 761st participated in the Allied drive through France, Patton’s relief of Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge, and the breaching of the Siegfried Line. By the end of the war the Black Panthers had made it all the way to Austria (where they liberated the Gunskirchen concentration camp); the 761st was inactivated on 1 June 1946 in Germany. During WWII, the Black Panthers earned a Medal of Honor, a Presidential Unit Citation, 11 Silver Stars, 69 Bronze Stars, 296 Purple Hearts, and four campaign streamers (Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, Central Europe). #Armyhistory #USArmy #TRADOC #WWII #WW2 #WW2History #Patton #Bastogne #BlackPanther #ShermanTank #BlackHistoryMonth #ArmyHeritage U.S. Army U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command. #repostedfrom @armyhistory (at Columbia, Tennessee) https://www.instagram.com/p/CohszLPuF7Z/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

First Amendment right to free speech
The First Amendment provides that Congress make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting its free exercise. It protects freedom of speech, the press, assembly, and the right to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. The Second Amendment gives citizens the right to bear arms...
Prayer is so useless, that all of the Proper legal law in support of the US Government is practicing. It's so useless that all oath of enlistment and office, end with the quote in 'God we trust', or 'So Help Me God'. These folks stand up and support your rights to be a 'Dick' and tell them they cannot pray to their desired God. Useless is your propaganda..Useless is the man who probably hasn't served a day in his life. I stood and protected and defended the US Constitution for 'Dicks' like you who think it's useless to pray. But like they say, if I did, in the remote chance ever serve with you, wouldn't laugh as you stand next to me in your foxhole pissing your pants, praying to your hand while your stroking your dick trying to keep from pissing all over yourself. I wonder how long it would take, after your shot with a round in your brain pan, before I heard-HELP ME GOD, I'm a worthless cockroach. You better hope the brother next to you believes in a God, or your pretty well fucked. Because he has compassion and really doesn't give a flying fuck what you think. Because of that compassion he'll save your worthless ass, and won't be praying to his God saying-'God, forgive the US Government for wasting my taxpayer dollars on this pathetic Mr. Micro Mix. Hey, I could be wrong-they probably wouldn't swear. Its a new Army.

🇺🇸 Notional task organization of a U.S. Army Armor Company Team. Higher res version at the graphics page of our website.
⚔ This depicts a common configuration of an Armor Company going to war. Such Armor Companies are part of Combined Arms Battalions (CAB) of the Armored Brigade Combat Team (ABCT), with either 2 Armor and 1 Infantry Company or the reverse. However, TRADOC appears to have a plan to switch back to 2 Armor and 2 Infantry Companies per CAB like it was prior to 2016. Most Armor Companies are equipped with M1A2 SEPv2 or M1A1 SA "Abrams" main battle tanks, and consist of a Company Headquarters and 3 Tank Platoons as organic elements. However, for a combined arms fight, things are shuffled around and support is attached.
Tumblr media
⚔ This configuration shows the company with an attached Mechanized Infantry platoon, having traded its 3rd platoon with an infantry company. A Fire Support Team (FIST) is also attached, immediately from the Battalion HQ but ultimately from the Field Artillery Battalion, to coordinate fires. An intelligence analyst is shown at half opacity in the FIST's box but whether one would be attached to a company would depend on the type of operation. A Stinger team has been attached for limited short-range air defense (in the future these will be organic to the companies rather than attached) and an Engineer Squad from the Brigade Engineer Battalion has been attached for mobility and counter mobility support.
⚔ In terms of sustainment, a Field Maintenance Team has been attached from the battalion's attached Forward Support Company providing second-line maintenance support and vehicle recovery. An Ambulance Squad, equipped with an M113A3, has also been attached to provide ground-based medical evacuation.

The first Medal of Honor award classified "Top Secret." Hiroshi "Hershey" H. Miyamura #KoreanWar Miyamura enlisted in the Army and entered active duty at age 19 in January 1945. As a Japanese-American from New Mexico, he volunteered for and was assigned to Company D, 100th Battalion, 442d Infantry Regimental Combat team in #WWII. He was recalled to active duty in the Korean War, and was assigned to Company H, 7th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division. On the evening of 24-25 April 1951, near Taejon-ni, Korea, Company H occupied a defensive position when it was attacked by a numerically superior force of the (Chinese) People's Volunteer Army, better known to U.S. and United Nations troops as Chinese Communist Forces. With his unit in danger of being overrun and their casualties mounting, Cpl. Miyamura, then a machine gun squad leader, left his position to engage a number of the attackers with the bayonet, and killed approximately ten of them in hand-to-hand combat. He repeatedly ordered his men to withdraw as he covered them with rifle fire and damaged the machine gun so the enemy could not use it. He continued firing the machine gun, and although severely wounded in the process, continued to fire and killed about fifty Chinese troops before he ran out of ammunition. Despite the painful injury, he continued to ferociously resist against very uneven odds until he was finally overcome and captured. Miyamura spent 28 months as a prisoner of war. Meanwhile, in recognition of his extraordinary heroism in the battle, the recommendation for the Medal of Honor made its way through the military channels of evaluation and consideration. Because he was a POW, and recognizing the potential propaganda coup the Communists could exploit, the documents were classified "Top Secret," a first in the history of the Medal of Honor. In October of 1953 after the ended and he returned home, President Dwight D. Eisenhower presented now Staff Sergeant Hiroshi "Hershey" H. Miyamura the Medal of Honor in a ceremony at the White House. He died on 29 November 2022, age 97. #armyhistory #MOH #USArmy #TRADOC #MilitaryHistory Posted @withregram • @armyhistory (at Middle Tennessee Area) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnznL7vu4yQ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Pandering to the Lowe’s at denominator.
Standards - are they oppressive restrictive arbitrary or are they mechanisms to ensure quality efficiency and drive achievement.
So in my experience as an Army Officer i see TRADOC pandering to the lowest denominator. Setting standards that meet an acceptable failure rate. Literally today in a class we talked about a test that is given, open notes, 2 hours, that was failed by 40% of officers who took it. So the result was to teach the test. So was the material that hard? Or are we pandering to officers who don’t want to rise to the difficult standard? Or was the test poorly designed not testing relevant material?
I think it’s more acceptable to consider a course hard with rigid standards and expectations, literally they pay you to be here. It’s like reverse college. So why are the standards less? Why does failing have to condemn a persons career, and are we doing the Army or the civilian corporations that one day hire veterans any favors by making it easier?
I could write forever on this topic, but i think that when we make something easy, it discredits the intrinsic value of success and accomplishment to the individual. Low standards equal low effort. Low effort equate to low information retention and thus a force that is immature in its competence and efficiency.
We need to look at standards as goals and achievements that are honorable, instead of looking for the path of least resistance to objectively meet the goals. If we do this we rush to failure.
The world needs standards and standards should not be unbearable but they should push us to be better, work harder and create and endstate that betters the organization we lead.
But as with other rants, i have gone on, we need to reward achievements and learn from our failures to come back stronger.
