so… *kicks rock*
Tron..
I have watched this movie maybe (?) 30 times in the last month. It’s a genuine comfort to me right now. But I have words and I need to speak them.
Tron 3? Yea. I better see TRON in it. You know.. THE GUY THAT THE WHOLE FRANCHISE IS NAMED AFTER?
If that doesn’t happen… man. I will be genuinely so hurt.
Anyways programs, goodnight.

Alan [in a pre-legacy AU where he finds the Grid instead of Sam]: WHY OH WHY would you borrow Tron without actually telling me what you were using him for?
Flyn: I needed a good partner to work with to stabilize the Grid! It was gonna be so cool man!
Alan: you fucked up a perfectly good program is what you did. Look at him! He's got anxiety.

We never got enough Tron & Alan moments for my liking.
I truly hate to think how after leaving the Encom system, Tron never gets to communicate with his creator-user & personal diety ever again... & that makes me sad :((((

My favorite genre of Tron fanfiction is where Rinzler comes to the user world. like hell yeah let’s just let a little freak loose in Sam/Alan/whoever’s house and see what he does. As a treat :)

I was previously inspired by @betasuppe's version of Rinzler. These pics are set in an alternate universe where Rinzler didn't break free of his repurposing at the end of the film. I thought this was a cool idea, so I wanted to explore it a little more.
Alan on The Grid! If anyone can help Rinzler become Tron again, it's his User. "Wouldn't that be something?"

Please accept some Tron doodles set once again in some universe in which Kevin Flynn decided that maybe this whole 'people can be digitized' thing should be shared and brought Alan (and Lora, and Roy) in to help him. (Thank you to @graedari for allowing me to use her wonderful grid armor design for Flynn!)
I've got some description and some close-ups under the cut, because why not, right?
These doodles are featuring:
Flynn secretly watching the (non-lethal, totally friendly competition) grid games as they were intended to be. I kinda like to imagine the grid games when all was peaceful were kinda like the games in the Tron Evolution Battle Grids game (the Wii game, if anyone else had that) where anyone could compete and all was friendly. Flynn would totally sneak into that from time to time so he could watch without drawing attention to himself -- or maybe he was competing and is watching while waiting for his next turn.
A full reference for Alan's grid armor, further demonstrating my inability to draw Alan without his hands in his pockets. (It really wasn't intentional, I just keep ending up with reference photos of him or people standing like that, somehow.) But I thought it was fun to remember how I took inspiration from Tron's Legacy design, Jet's design in Tron 2.0, and Alan's regular outfits to make him a grid outfit.

Thinking about them again your honor.
It’s about how Lora/Yori is always the guide, always knows just where to go and what to do and how Alan/Tron happily go along with it. They trust she knows best (they’re also a total sap about her)
It’s the “if I’m not holding your hand right now I’ll explode”. They’re so touchy and my heart can’t take it? Lora/Yori has a tendency to cling to his arm, press herself into his shoulder and it’s absolutely everything.
Also no one talks about how funny the arcade scene is, Lora is just giggling and dragging him along as Alan is going through increasing stages of ‘oh my god what have I got myself into- what is this guy’ — this arcade serves all ages and demographics and somehow he still sticks out! In this case it’s a reverse where Lora is the one to ‘protect’ him and I’m going to loose it.

I often picture Alan Bradley as being a stiff, humorless, nerdy, prim and proper, by-the-books sort of person, as opposed to the wild and crazy maverick Kevin Flynn. However, there are some parts of the original Tron film that indicates that Alan has a slightly daring and rebellious side to him as well. One of these is the fact that he rather nonchalantly saunters into the laser research bay while the laser is being tested, just wearing his regular office suit, when everyone else there are wearing overalls, hardhats and protective goggles. And he knows that the laser is powerful enough to "disintegrate" things, he says so himself!
It's especially funny in the first draft of the film script, where it's described that he casually dodges a wayward laser beam when he walks inside the bay. Lora must be really irritated with him for not taking her tech seriously.
