I attended a lecture not too long ago from a well-known animator, who talked about the technique of "digitizing humans" for animation back in the 70s.

Well, that wasn't quite what they did in the original Tron, but the comparison was too amusing to ignore. So, whilst listening to the lecture, I sketched Flynn trying to explain the concept to Tron.

Just something fun I thought I'd share.

I'm still on my Disney heroes Tron bullshit so here's some random moments.

Tron bullying Flynn will always be welcome and I think they should do it more.

Quorra not knowing casual user phrases is so cute. I love her.

The return of quorra's love of toasters, I'm so happy this is a recurring joke in Tron media.

Tron uprising reference!, also Tron missing Yori made my heart hurt. But it's also interesting because for every other character in the game massive amounts of people from there world get dragged to the city even if there not playable characters, there's loads of background characters that show up and in some cases half of peoples kingdoms show up. (Princess jasmine says the people of agrabah were struggling to adapt to the city.) But it's only Tron, Flynn and quorra who show up from the grid. Which is probably a good thing tbh no one wants clu or any other general to interact with Disney characters.

Flynn honey your gonna break a hip doing that my guy, also them racing is super cute. Quorra I feel like this can only end in disaster, Belle will just hurt herself.

What hits my heart every time is that Clu, no matter what, never stopped considering Flynn to be The Very User, his God. And that's why he couldn't forgive him. Sam loves his father – but he also knows that he has completely failed at being a father, a friend, a user. But Sam still forgives him because he understands that his father is just a man who can and will make mistakes. He doesn't see God in him, he doesn't put him on a pedestal. Kevin screwed up just like anyone else, and Sam understands that and forgives him. But Clu sees God in him to the last, and God cannot, does not dare, has no right to make mistakes. And when Flynn tells him that he was wrong to create him this way, giving him his current purpose, Clu simply can't forgive him. Because his God is better off dead than if he never really existed.

…ok... I might actually want to know more about Kingdom Hearts.

Every time I look at this clip, my heart warms at the thought of happy Tron who greets new friends with a hug…

....and as dumb as it seems to me that Donald Duck is there, I might be able to tolerate that for the sake of seeing Tron being so adorable.

...the only time we non-gamers get to see Tron being all sweet and affectionate, the way he's meant to be, is in the 1982 movie. ...other than that, we only get Legacy where he's brainwashed into a killing machine, and Uprising where he's all traumatized and broody and can't open up to anyone.

but... this is always gonna be how I see him.

aaaaand I'm not gonna lie, I want more of that.
