HEHEHEHEH well regarding ur question it could be rhetorical but im breaking it down bc thats always fun heheh SO. as is evident. in tvl marinette is simultaneously more comfortable around adrien (due to having dated him) and also more awkward around him (due to having broken up)

but in her mind she didn’t break up with him because she lost interest or anything, and the break up hit him pretty hard and hurt him A LOT. and post break up tvl Marinette has always wanted to try and like. make it somewhat better, help him feel happier, etc etc. bar… actually dating him again. hence why she’s a lot more cautious with him than she is in her friendships w alya and nino. this has always been how she is to an extent w adrien but it just turned up More when tvl adrienette broke up - hence the whole scene where he asks her to be More Comfortable around him, and to be as mean as she wants, to scold him when he messes up instead of coddling him

ANYWAY. when ur gf breaks up w you out of the blue and never really gives you a very satisfying explanation or anything that lets u understand WHY it happened—you’d fill in those gaps from time to time. especially when said ex gf talked very loudly about how the committed casual sex she’s been having w some unknown guy whose identity you aren’t aware of is SO GREAT AND AWESOME AND EPIC

so yeah when tvl adrien is insecure about their break up that throws ALL of tvl Marinette’s logic and apprehension out the window and her One Track Mind will do or say anything to reassure him. also he had just recently explained that he DOESNT have a gf and also she found out that he knows he’s a senti. which had been a secret she was keeping from him. so that like. lowered her guard slightly too. mix everything up together and you get her VERY eager to prove to him JUST how desirable he is in her eyes

Okay I love marinette and this story but somethign that really enraged me was the fact that marinette was planning to never tell Adrien about ANYTHING regarding his family and birth. And what made it worse is that it’s been what ? 8 /9 years ?! And he had to find this stuff on his own. I’m really curious thought about what he learned through the years and how ( I’m assuming ladybug told him some stuff as Chat ) and I’m sure that really must have been difficult for him , just finding more and more stuff . No wonder he would get drunk to the point of having no memory the next day. Anyways this chapter was so fun and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it

HI ANON. Part of ur rage is meant to be felt. the other half is a question: why HASNT tvl marinette told him anything? and why CAN’T she? or why does she feel so strongly about not doing so?

I took this screenshot and highlighted that word for a friend a few days ago, so im just using it here again. anyway, tvl is FULL of ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ moments. of course, even if you DONT blink and you DONT miss, at this point, there’s a lot of stuff none of you know for sure. i described it as double dramatic irony in some random comment reply iirc, but essentially, there’s stuff the readers know that the characters don’t (love square identity shenanigans), but there’s ALSO stuff the characters know that the readers don’t (events that occurred over the 8 or so years between s5’s end and tvl’s timeline)

so there’s like a LOT that you’ll wonder about and hypothesize about. loads of questions to ask. and will all of them be answered? who knows. ANYWAY. for now, i hope this is something fun to chew over hehehehehehe

also, tvl adrichat not remembering stuff from when he drinks is just a Thing that happens when he drinks. he doesn’t get blackout drunk often or anything. if you’ve noticed, tvl love square aren’t depicted drinking very often. they DO drink, they have on occasion, it’s just not super often. THEN AGAIN ur perfectly welcome to headcanon that he does! i often write things that are open for the audience’s interpretation, so you are all welcome to interpret ❤️

that’s completely something the Secret Base would be helping with BUT regardless of anything tvl maribug doesn’t realize SHES the one giving adrichat the hickeys bc OF HER BLIND RAGE . and blind lust too. when she’s at the Secret Base. plus it’s usually dark bc tvl chat comes home SO LATE (he’s filming but she doesn’t know that) and by the time he’s there it’s time to Get Down To Business and then Get To Bed which is mostly in the dim lights/semi darkness bc Bedroom
