Republicans - like DoucheBag DeSantis in FL- trigger their misinformed base with lies, exaggeration and deceit.  Plans have been in place for months.
There have been efforts regarding immigration reform put forth by the Democrats only to have low-life Republicans stall, block and ignore them so they can use the “crisis at the border” to whip their ignorant, racist, bigoted base into a frenzy.

Some migrants along the U.S-Mexico border in the Agape Mundial Tijuana shelter have gotten appointments through the new CBP One App that was introduced yesterday by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for those wishing to apply for asylum to the United States on Friday, January 13, 2023. Only six were able to obtain a lottery number and official appointment for their asylum claims, while others got put in the system and given a number but without a set appointment as of yet—though once registered in the app, applicants will be contacted via email for their exact date once an appointment is available to them. — The CBP One App has now become oversaturated by the amount of migrants applying, there will not be any appointments assigned for the rest of January and February. — 600 migrants use to be at the Agape shelter now only 80 migrants remain since the app was introduced, in addition to some of the migrants who were given beforehand humanitarian parole, an exception to the Title 42 policy, due to some migrants dire circumstances who seek asylum through different associations and immigration advocacy groups who add migrants on lists for consideration of passage to the U.S. Now with the App migrants can apply by themselves using their phone and be added to the system, at least that is the plan or idea to make the process run faster, smoother and orderly by the Biden Administration. Though the App has received mix reviews and criticism by some migrants and advocates, overall most migrants who did apply on the app have gotten into the system and have received a lottery number to wait their turn to seek asylum to enter the U.S. Photos for @sipausa — #usmexicoborder #asylumseekers #tijuanamexico #cbpone #photojournalism #fotoperiodismo (at USA-Mexico Border, Tijuana) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnYSwlur-4m/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

As border crossings soar, we’re looking at ‘Zoe Leonard: Al río / To the River,' published by @hatjecantzverlag & @mudamlux Featured images are reproduced from the artist's two-volume, 592-page project documenting the one-thousand-mile-plus river boundary shared by the United States and Mexico. Featuring 350 reproductions and an anthology of writings by a wealth of international artists, journalists, poets and scholars, this publication presents a multifaceted portrait of the highly politicized and deeply symbolic border-river known as the Río Bravo in Mexico and the Rio Grande in the United States. Underneath all of its fraught history, C.J. Alvarez concludes in his opening essay, “the river has not yet been robbed of all its mystery, nor of its power. Like all civilizations, ours too will someday decline or become something else. The border will not be there forever. Perhaps new volcanos will erupt and reshape the watershed once again. Maybe some future generation will start a process of unbuilding. Possibly the places we know today as the ‘United States’ and ‘Mexico’ will erode into some new type of polity. When I imagine a time in the distant future, when all of us are long gone, I take comfort in picturing the river once again running great and wild.” Read more via linkinbio. #zoeleonard #zoeleonardtotheriver #zoeleonardalrio #border #usmexicoborder #bordercrossing @zoe_leonard_studio @droughtdeciduous https://www.instagram.com/p/CeEHkSUukk0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

U.S. Congressman Juan Vargas joined with other local community members, civic and elected leaders in demanding the immediate end to construction of two 30-foot-tall walls that will replace current fencing at the Friendship Park area diving Tijuana and San Diego on Friday, March 17, 2023. — There are currently two layers of 18-foot border barrier that enclose Friendship Park, with Border Patrol controlling the gates to the historic meeting place for families who can’t cross to see each other. Those gates have been closed for several years. The new construction plans, initiated by the Trump administration and continued under President Joe Biden, did not originally include gates. But activism spurred by the collective Friends of Friendship Park last summer caused Customs and Border Protection to pause the project for stakeholder meetings over the design. Since construction restarted, Friends of Friendship Park has continued to call out the administration, saying that the modifications are not enough to preserve the essence and intended message of the park. Young migrants are still crossing the border in Roma, TX. It’s doesn’t matter if it is Afghans or Central Americans - circumstances exist that force people to seek out a better life in a new home. We should honor that and seek to help. America did that for my family - for most of our families - and we should return the favor. #refugee #migrants #photojournalism #reportage #usmexicoborder #politics #sonyalpha (at Roma TX 78584 USA Starr County) https://www.instagram.com/p/CTS-1XzMra5/?utm_medium=tumblr

In the current issue of @friezeofficial Jessica Lynne speaks with Zoe Leonard about 'Al Río / To the River,' a large-scale work comprising hundreds of photographs of the Rio Grande/Río Bravo, which was recently shown @mudamlux and @museedartmodernedeparis and is forthcoming in book form from @hatjecantzverlag Leonard notes, "I started this work with the question: What does it mean to ask a body of water to perform a political task? I was interested in looking at our human relationship to this river and what would be revealed through that observation. I began photographing in late 2016, shortly after the US general election. My idea was to follow and photograph the river along the 2,000 kilometers where it is used to demarcate the international border, from Ciudad Juárez and El Paso downstream to the Gulf of Mexico. I wanted to observe the complex nature of the river itself, the water as it winds through the landscape, but also to consider the built environment we’ve constructed alongside, into and across the riverbed. The photographs act as a kind of cross-section looking into situations where many different factors are active simultaneously. The work raises questions of immigration, commerce and trade, but also climate change, drought, water usage, wildlife migration and survival. Questions of food supply and labour politics. Policing and surveillance. Citizenship and belonging.…" Read the full interview via linkinbio. #zoeleonard #zoeleonardalrio #zoeleonardtotheriver @zoe_leonard_studio @lynne_bias #riogrande #riobravo #usmexicoborder #border #bordercrossing https://www.instagram.com/p/CdNyj0Iu1WI/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
