i have no idea if this means anything to you but my partner was talking about how they were originally disappointed at how babygirled vash is in trigun stampede because “he had way more Weird Middle-Aged Man energy in the og show!!” but then found out that stampede is explicitly set when vash is much younger and more naive and they were like AH. and said “‘pathetic babygirl’ progresses very naturally to ‘weird adult man’ in my mind.” and so i say. “it’s like a columbo prequel.” (they agreed)

honestly i've never watched trigun but i've heard very good things about it from several ppl, im gonna need to put it on my list 👀

tristamp thoughts/live watch ramblings

preface: i already have a very bad impression of tristamp. i literally have been into trigun for maybe a week now and i have seen most of 1998, but im trying to go into tristamp with a clear head and view it objectively, but i genuinely looked at the character designs and legatos redesign made me resent it immediately tbh...

ANYWAY, im live watching as i write this, so apologies if its sporatic

okay so the good stuff so far

uhh... its very pretty!!! ill give it that. it really shows the evolution of 3d anime over time, and as someone who typically doesnt enjoy it i think tristamp is absolutely beautiful. first 3d anime i ever saw was knights of sidonia and i have a deep appreciation for where 3d anime is now compared to a decade ago

i kinda like meryls new design the best? i like her hat, its cute. everyone else is so... eh, tho. merylls redesign is chill with me tho

roberto is fine ig. i like old men characters sometimes and like, idk whenever im not sad abt milly not being here im okay enough with roberto existing

five and probably last for rn, why is the pacing so bad. like its not good in trigun or trimax really, and especially bad in 1998, but it SO ASS!!! like its so blink and you'll miss it, which kinda stands for every trigun... but expected this to be like at least a liiiiittle better i dunno

conclusions: im gonna keep watching it maybe? but like... i dont like it. its bad imo. literaly have been into trigun for one week and am in mourning that trimax will likely never have a proper adaptation. i just wanna see angel knives in his full glory, not whatever tf tristamp is trying to push here

what's trigun and who's the little blond babygirl guy I am SO intrigued

Trigun is a really sexy anime that came out in the 90s! It was a fun mix of comedy and badass fights and like weird scifi. A new Trigun anime started a lil bit ago and it's pretty different from the og, but for me it's been very enjoyable! I could not tell you anything about the manga bc I haven't read it.

Anyway it's about this long blonde guy Vash who on top of being built like a fucking borzoi is a fucking loser but also really cool and has like super bad luck. Like he has Not known a second of peace in his life because he's a wanted man. He gets in such gigantic trouble that he's called the Human Stampede and everyone wants to kill him! He's fantastic and I love him. 10/10 best baby girl

Serioulsy tho Vash is a fantastic character with a lot of depth and personality and we really get to explore how tragic he is in Stampede because it skipped the comedy element (not to say the og is bad! I loved seeing him act like a lizard on heroin). I both recomend the original anime and Stampede! If you do end up checking them out I hope you enjoy them as much as I do, and love Vash as much as I do!!!
