Friendly reminder that being gentle and empathetic are core facets of 2003 Donatello’s character. His “let’s try talking to it first” approach almost achieved running joke status it happened so often, to the point the Outbreak arc actually riffed on it

For the record, there is nothing wrong with shipping Leo and Usagi. “bUt UsAgi iS oLdEr--” no. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2003 is a separate universe from the Usagi Yojimbo comics, and Usagi in the cartoon is a different character from comics canon. Usagi’s age is never mentioned in 2003. If someone wants to extrapolate his age and history from the comics, they’re welcome to, but it’s all conjecture.

A fandom pet peeve of mine: when people say the 2003 turtles don’t act like teenagers or siblings. 

First of all, what show were you watching? Second, is there only one way for siblings to treat each other, or one way for teenagers to behave?  

Like, show me this universal definition of teenager, because I sure didn’t think there was one.

Mikey’s line is stolen from Inside Job. Reagan and Donatello are two very different kinds of mad scientist, but so many lines from that show make me think of Don 😅

I get why giving the turtles an age order can be fun sometimes, but I hate that assigning oldest-middle-youngest dynamics so often comes at the expense of canon characterization

#tmnt #this applies to all versions #except rise i guess since they canonically have an age difference #but the others don't #they are all the same age #leo is the most responsible and the leader but he is not actually older than the rest #mikey can be immature and carefree but that doesnt automatically make him the youngest #it's honestly kind of weird how stringent fandom can be with the 'age equals character trait' thing #like just bc one sibling is older does not make them magically more responsible or wiser #anyway long story short #this is why i will never use youngest/oldest descriptors in my tmnt fics #ive seen people base their analysis off 'oh hes a middle child that why blah blah' #when NO it's not canon it's just widely spread popular headcanon #vickysturts
