NAME ORIGIN

Thank you @chevvy-yates for doing this for their oc Vijay Steyr, it was very interesting.

I remember that I did do this for Valaire and Veerle my both V's, but not for my other oc's so I will rectify this now since I made up my mind and gave Vicco finally a name and birthday.

RULES: Search and post the meaning of your OCs’ names (if you made their name up or they go by a nickname, post an explanation of how it came to you)! Bonus if you can find something for their last name too.

Viktor "Vicco" Dorn

Viktor is a ancient latin name derived from "Victorius" which means "the winner".

Vicco or Vico is a derivation from Viktor. The reason I chose this name was because I liked it and didn't wanted to use "Viktor" because of our all beloved ripperdoc. Vicco was supposed to be a V, (that's why he has a name with a V) but I thought that he would do better as a side character.

Dorn is a German family name, which means literally "Thorn". He and Kilian (see further below) have both German roots, but Vicco was too small to pick up German words from their parents and so he doesn't drop any German words at all.

Joris Dercks

Joris is the Dutch/ Frisian version of the names George or Gregor. His nickname is Jojo which refers to the first two letters of Joris and his second name Johan. He never uses his second name and has it wiped when he came to NC. Because he lived for 26 years in The Netherlands he speaks fluent Dutch and has an accent when speaking English. Which is the opposite to Valaire who has an accent when speaking Dutch.

Dercks was a common name for Dutch immigrants that came to America far back in the day.

Kirian Dorn

Kirian is an Irish name and means "he who was born in a dark place".

Why did I gave him that name, an Irish one to boot when he is German? Good question! The short answer is I needed a name that is close to Kilian.

The long answer is a multichapter fic I am currently writing for Nano.

Dorn is a German family name, which means literally "Thorn". Kirian is 4 years older than Vicco and so he heard and picked up some German words, but it is very random and actually he doesn't like to use them because of the memories that might be invoked by them.
