It was peaceful for once in the manor. Dick, Tim, Damian, Steph, Cass, and Babs were all in the living room doing their own thing. However peace cannot last forever and the silent atmosphere was interrupted by one Timothy Drake-Wayne. 

“Guys come check this out!” He exclaimed, his phone facing the others in the room. They all gathered around the phone, some more annoyed than others. On screen was a video and Tim hit play. 

It showed a girl with dark hair, blue eyes, and pale skin motioning for someone off screen to come over. There was music going on in the background and the girl was obviously getting impatient. The figure came on screen and they were all shocked to see it was Jason. Then at the top of the screen the words ‘Doing this trend with my overprotective best friend’ appeared and now they were very confused. Jason had never mentioned this girl before.

The music stopped and the girl repeated the lyrics “Look at my ass, look at my thighs” as she turned around. But before she could turn around Jason picked her up and carried her off screen before the video ended. 

“What was that?” Dick asked after a few seconds of silence. 

“It’s a trend on tik tok that girls usually do with their boyfriends, but in this case Jason and this girl are just best friends.” Steph answered. 

“How does Jason even know this girl?” Dick pointed out, asking the question that was on all of their minds. Unfortunately, no one, not even Tim, knew the answer. 

Cass then spoke up, “Watch more.” She grabbed Tim’s phone and played another video, however this time it was Jason holding the camera. He came over to the strange girl who looked to be baking something. She looked up at him weirdly, asking something that couldn’t be heard because of the audio playing, luckily they could read lips. 

‘What are you doing?’ She asked

Jason responded with ‘Just listen.’ 

She turned her attention to the camera as the lyrics “That’s my best friend, that’s my best friend” played. Jason was moving to the beat and that seemed to convince the girl to also move to the beat. The song continued with more lyrics playing “She’s not my girlfriend, she’s my best friend”. Then suddenly the lyrics “I just fuck her her from time to time” played and the girl whipped out her spoon and started whacking him on the head with it. She was screaming ‘LIES’ just before the video cut out. 

This led to them going on a spree of watching their tik toks. Apparently this was their shared account and both of them had separate accounts they planned to look at later. An hour had passed of them just watching their tik toks before they stumbled upon an intriguing one. The caption was ‘You guys asked for it, so I’ll explain. This is going to be my side of the story.’

It showed Margot, as they had found out her name was, sitting on her bed recording herself painting her nails a blood red as she talked. 

“Ok so you guys have been asking for this for a while so here it is. How I met Jason part one. And Jason will also be doing his side of the story, just so you’re aware, watch that after this. But this also takes place after the whole ‘Hawkmoth and Lila Incident’ so if you haven’t watched that storytime on my personal account, you should probably go do that.” 

One look at each other and they knew they were gonna look at the story afterwards. It was getting too good to leave now.

“So a long time ago I had a venting account on Instagram. Now I had many venting accounts, all with different usernames, including Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, all that good stuff but Instagram is where I met Jason. I posted something about how death could never stop me because I had died by the hands of an akuma before but ladybug’s cure brought me back to life. But then later on in the post I said something about how if this one boy, you all know who he is, couldn’t take a hint then I would rather let death take me than bother living in this mortal realm. Jason ended up seeing the post since we were following each other at the time and DMed me. Now he said and I quote ‘Yo, my username at the time, if you need me to come and beat this guys ass I would be more than happy too. I would gladly let death claim me as well without your shit posts to relate to.’” 

She had tried to make her voice sound deeper and had stopped painting her nails so she could do air quotes. “Looking back on it now, that is such a Jason thing to say, but at the time I was pretty confused and mildly concerned. And time’s up, part two will be posted right now.” 

“Wait, what the heck is an akuma and ladybug’s cure and why did she die from it!?!?!” Dick shouted once the video ended. 

“Dick you don’t know what she’s talking about?” Babs asked in disbelief. 

“Tt, Grayson, and I thought you were one of the smart ones in this family.” Damian scoffed. 

“Does everyone here, but me, know what she's talking about?” Dick questioned, getting yes and nods from everyone in the room.

“Okay Dick,” Tim began, “This is gonna be pretty unbelievable and complicated so I’ll try to explain it as best I can in a short amount of time so we can finish her side of the story before dinner. So while I’m explaining don’t interrupt me.” 

He waited for Dick to nod his head before continuing. “There are jewelry called miraculous that house mini gods that grant powers to whoever has the jewelry. Each miraculous houses a different god thus a different power. Miraculous themselves, including the gods bound to them, are neutral so they can be used for good or evil depending on who wields them. 

Hawkmoth and Mayura used the butterfly and peacock miraculouses for evil purposes and were basically emotional terrorists to the people of Paris. Hawkmoth was able to send out a butterfly with magic to a person feeling negative emotions and manipulate them to do his bidding. These butterflies and villains created by the butterflies were called akumas. If you were or became an akuma you were akumatized. Mayura was able to send out a feather with magic that also used negative emotions to create a monster that aided the akuma. The feathers were called amuks and the monsters were called sentimonsters. 

That was when the heroes Ladybug and Chat Noir also came along and fought Hawkmoth. Ladybug had the ladybug miraculous which granted her the power of lucky charm and miraculous ladybug. Lucky charm gave her an item needed to defeat the akuma and miraculous ladybug reversed all the damage a fight caused. She also had the task of purifying the akuma, turning it back into a butterfly. Chat Noir had the black cat miraculous which granted the power of cataclysm, which made it so he could destroy anything he touched. The 2 worked as a team for around a year before they brought in other temporary heroes who are not that important. Eventually all their temp heroes’ identities were outed and they could no longer use them so they were back to square one. 

However many people noticed that Chat Noir was not taking his job as seriously, he began sitting out battles, flirting with ladybug while there was an akuma, and even getting civilians killed, relying too heavily on ladybug’s cure. We’re not exactly sure what happened, we assumed she snapped because one akuma attack Chat Noir was not there. Instead, there was a whole new team of miraculous wielders including Murder Hornet wielder of the bee miraculous who had the power venom which let her temporarily paralize her opponent, Red Illusion wielder of the fox miraculous who had the power mirage which let him create illusions, Peridot Protector wielder of the turtle miraculous who had the power shelter which allowed him to create indestructible shields, Medusa wielder of the snake miraculous who had the power second chance which allowed her to reset the time line as many times as needed to win the battle, Mustang wielder of the horse miraculous who had the power voyage which let him create portals, and a new black cat holder, Midnight. 

The team took 6 months to defeat Hawkmoth and Mayura, who turned out to be Gabriel Agreste and Natalie Sancour. The Justice League tried to recruit them but they all wanted to live normal lives. Ladybug still checks in every 3-6 months to reassure everyone she still has all the miraculous. I don’t blame them, especially Ladybug, for wanting a normal life. This whole thing started when they were around 13 and ended when they were around 17.”

Tim then clicked on part two of her story, not even waiting for Dick to recover from the huge information dump. 

It was the exact same place she was at in part one, and she was still painting her nails the same shade of blood red. “Okay guys part two of how Jason and I met. If you didn’t watch part one go watch then return to this one. So picking up where we left off I Dmed him back and we ended up having a very long conversation about murder, people not understanding the word no, and spineless cowards. This went on for quite a while of us just messaging each other and eventually we gave each other our emails and then phone numbers. I gave him my phone number just before I moved out of Paris. After like 6 months of texting we planned to meet up at some park in New York that was near the apartment I lived at at the time. Now in hindsight that was a very dumb move on my part so to all the kids watching don’t go meeting up with strangers you meet on the internet. Do as I say not as I did. I almost regretted my decision to meet up with him because he is intimidating as hell! He’s like over 6 foot tall, with muscles the size of my head! I honestly thought that I had put myself in a very bad situation but thankfully he was just as nice in real life like he was over text. We ended up hanging out a lot more and long story short we’re best friends!” 

It was at this point that she looked directly into the camera with a glare that could rival Batman’s, stating, “Literally just best friends to all the people who think shipping us is okay!” And just like that, it was gone, “Anyways see you guys next video, bye!” 

And with that the video ended and the Wayne children, minus Jason obviously, were left wondering how they missed the fact Jason had a female best friend. One where they declared their friendship on the internet nonetheless!

“Well that was certainly something.” Steph commented. 

“Yeah, who knew Jason could have a non hero friend that we didn’t know about.” Tim joked. 

“So are we gonna watch Jason’s part?” Dick asked. 

“I don’t think we have time for that, but we can watch it after dinner.” Tim suggested, “Alfred is probably on his way to get us right now.”

“Tt, what do we do now?” Damian questioned. 

It was then that Cass stole Tim’s phone and started to play a new tik tok. And it showed Margot trying to teach Jason how to do the WAP dance. They were never letting him hear the end of this.

I am literally so sorry for that huge information dump with the miraculous. I did not expect to get that carried away while writing and by the time I realized it, it was too late and I had to post. Honestly because of how much I wrote I will probably use the miraculous holders names in a future fic, cause I’m lazy. :P Also if you wanna guess their identities feel free to! Anyways tomorrows prompt fic thing will be like a prequel for this one, it’s basically why Marinette now goes by Margot and why she lived/lives in New York. The prompt “Betrayal" will be connected to this as well. :)  Also sorry this was posted so late, I had things to do, that I still need to do...I hate procrastination

Oh my GOD Please infodump abt hatoful.... ive repeatedly tried to get into it but have no idea how/how to connect any of the lore. Thanos !

I SAW THE TYPO TOO LATE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO END WITH “THANKS”,

SKDFSKJSLKDFJ no worries anon, it happens to the best of us. Anyways, how should I start this…

So, if you’re totally new here, Hatoful Boyfriend is a visual novel dating sim whose basic premise is “what if cliched boyfriend archetypes… but birds?” And it takes this premise completely wholeheartedly, while still maintaining a comedic tone. You pick classes and club activities each in-game day to increase your skill points, and depending on your levels (and a few dialogue options) you’ll either successfully romance your birdie of choice or get a Bad End. Most of the birds make their interests/level requirements obvious from the start, and you have a bunch of save slots to work with if you wanna go the scum route. Pretty simple and straightforward.

(Actually, that’s a lie, it gets much more complicated later. Don’t worry about that right now.)

Most of HBF is framed through the perspective of the protagonist (I’m gonna use her canon name for convenience) Hiyoko, and she is… not the brightest bulb in the box. Especially in the first game, when events in one character’s route will be foreshadowed in other routes, she will rarely call them out or make note of them. Naturally, this also means some reveals will be spoiled depending on which order you do the routes in. You also unlock documents in the Archive section after completing each route, which adds another level of puzzle piecing to the mix. 

(No, this is not the complicated part I was talking about earlier. Sorry.)

In this next bit, I’m going to briefly run through the routes of the first game from least to most complex in terms of lore, as well as what things are foreshadowed when. I’ll also toss in the archive documents when I feel they’re most relevant to the information you have. We ready?

Okosan’s routes: Mostly joke endings, unless there is some greater plot significance to pudding that I’ve missed for all these years.

Ryouta’s route: Mostly about character building, the only real hint you get is that his mother is sickly and it’s implied he inherited this from her.

Azami’s routes: You could get here with the same stats as Ryouta’s route, but then you fuck it up by taking this job opportunity away from him. How rude, Hiyoko.

Sakuya’s first route: He opens up to you about his abusive and bigoted dad, and with some encouragement you encourage him to run away and become a musician like he always wanted. Mr. Le Bel is very important to multiple other characters in this game.

Sakuya’s second route (needs perfect stats/dialogue choices): Same conversation about his dad, but he chooses to live with you instead. Your big hint is at the end, when Yuuya sends you a letter saying there’s “something he’s wanted to tell [Sakuya] for a long time. Something important.” 

Yuuya’s route: You don’t actually get to find out what the "important thing" is, whoops. You do find out that Yuuya’s a spy for the Dove Party, Shuu is one for the Hawk Party, and the school has been increasingly influenced by the Hawk Party as of late. 

BAD END: You may have gotten it earlier, but now you have context as to who’s killing you when you fail a route- it’s the Hawk Party. The reason why is still unclear.

Shuu’s first route: Absolutely not a romance route and if you ship Shuu/Hiyoko please block me and tab out immediately thank you very much. You learn that Shuu has been killing students for medical experimentation, confirming Yuuya’s suspicions about the quills in the student store and the food in the cafeteria.

Shuu’s second route (needs perfect stats/dialogue choices): Same ending where Hiyoko dies, but he’s attached enough to her that he takes her head in a jar when he goes on the run. You do learn that Shuu doesn’t care about the Hawk Party’s politics, just that they can enable his personal experiments.

Archive Note 11: Someone (Shuu) knew that Yuuya was a Dove Party agent from the start. He also notes that some of the students are “fascinating”, which you know from his route means they’re good experiment fodder. You learn that he has reason to believe his victims won’t oppose the experimentation, but not the details.

Archive Note 10: Shuu makes notes about human “adaptability measures.” Given that Hiyoko is the only human at the school, you can guess that this will involve her in some way.

Archive Note 06: Notes about the Spanish Flu, how deadly it was to humans, and the connection to an “Avian Influenza.”

Archive Note 04: Notes about a “Goodwill Ambassador” for humanity, who needs a strong natural immunity to Avian Influenza. Hiyoko’s stats show that she has a base level of 800 Vitality, so you can guess that she’s the ambassador. This is why she dies when you fail a route- the Hawk Party saw she didn’t build a good enough connection to the birds, so they take her as a lost cause.

Archive Note 07: Shuu makes notes about “carrier capacity” in the student body, inducing it in some way in a “normal” individual. You can guess this is the details of his medical experimentation, but not who the victim is. You can also guess that the disease to be carried is Avian Influenza.

Anghel’s route: It’s not actually that complicated, but I think you need to complete Shuu’s route before the “mad love of a fallen angel” option is available. (EDIT: you actually just need to complete one playthrough to unlock this option. Even the Azami solo ending will unlock it.)  This ending seemingly undermines all the things we learned about Shuu right before, but this is just Hiyoko’s perspective.

Archive Note 01: A certain student (Anghel) has hallucinogenic properties that can affect bystanders, putting them in a trance-like state. This explains why everything went totally off the rails in his route.

Kazuaki’s route: Again not a romance route (no matter what he says about “waiting”, ew) because the whole point is that Kazuaki is afraid to open himself up to love of any kind. You learn he had someone he cared deeply about in the past but lost, and now he’s been soured from the experience. You also learn that he smells like bleach.

Nageki’s route: You learn that he’s a ghost, that he killed himself in the school some years ago, and that he doesn’t have all his memories. He disappears before you learn anything more, but he’s happy so it’s okay and why am I crying agai-

Archive Note 02: Someone (Nageki) writes about how they are trapped, and can’t remember what happened to them.

Archive Note 05: Nageki remembers he made a promise to someone very important, but he can’t remember who or what it was.

Archive Note 03: Nageki once woke up in a place that wasn’t the library- somewhere with bright lights and a white ceiling. He’s not as trapped as he first thought.

Archive Note 14: Nageki notes that he can move between floors, going from the library to the chemistry lab below. You can guess that the place with the bright lights is somewhere below these two rooms. This also reveals that Nageki knew the layout of the school when he was alive.

Archive Note 12: Nageki notes that after meeting Hiyoko, he feels fulfilled “just as he did back then.” He still can’t remember everything, though.

Archive Note 08: Notes about an underground facility, a fire, and a Subject 00 whose remains are in storage. You can guess that the facility is the place with the bright lights, and Nageki is Subject 00. You can also guess that Nageki set the fire, since he said that he killed himself.

Archive Note 09: Notes about Subject 00′s relative, whose remains are also in storage. You can guess that this is the “important person” that Nageki made a promise to a long time ago.

At this point, the only documents left are Note 13, which is about a terrorist incident at the Heartful House orphanage in which only two birds survived, and Note 15, which is about another terrorist incident some years ago in which the Ave’s High City building was bombed. Nothing in the main routes hints at these notes, so it’s a good time to move to…

Bad Boys Love route: This route is literally the length of the rest of the routes combined, so we’re doin’ more sections, baby!

Kazuaki’s lost loved one and Nageki’s important person turn out to be each other. They were the survivors of the Heartful House incident, and Kazuaki (real name Hitori) took care of his little brother by himself. Nageki was sickly, so he volunteered himself for a medical experiment at the school that could potentially cure him to take the burden off of Hitori. 

Unbeknownst to them, the Hawk Party was already in control of the school and their real motive was to investigate the disease Nageki was carrying- Avian Influenza. Shuu was specifically the lead for this project, and he also witnessed the Heartful House incident when it happened. At the time, he went by the name Isa Souma and was a medical researcher. He worked with Ryuuji Kawara, Ryouta’s dad, until Ryuuji’s death from disease.

Ryouta and Hiyoko were also there, because her parents were former human ambassadors too. Unfortunately, they became some of the casualties, which left the two kids heartbroken. Shuu, seeing them and recognizing Ryouta, offered to grant them a wish. They both wished for a world where humans and birds would never fight anymore, which Shuu took to mean “kill all the remaining humans so they can’t fight the birds” because… he’s like that. 

Shuu decided that the easiest way to kill all the humans would be to spread the Avian Influenza, and this is why he sought out Nageki. Nageki was forced to kill humans as part of the experiments, and this traumatized him so much that he set the lab on fire to stop it, trapping himself inside. Hitori witnessed this too, and swore to get revenge despite Nageki asking him to destroy his remains and live a happy life. He bleached his feathers and swapped identities with another bird to fake his death, and applied to the school as a teacher under his new name. 

Nageki’s plan didn’t entirely work, and the Hawk Party was able to store some of his remains for future experiments with Avian Influenza. This brings us to the timeline of the main routes, where Shuu took advantage of Ryouta’s sickly constitution to make him a new carrier for Avian Influenza. Yuuya tried to interfere on behalf of the Dove Party, but Shuu blackmailed him with the knowledge that he killed his real half-brother because he hated Mr. Le Bel and wanted Sakuya to live instead. 

The new strain of Avian Influenza that Ryouta carried was enough to make Hiyoko sick and kill her. The death of the Human Ambassador kickstarts the beginning of this route, and Shuu planned for the humans who would retaliate to also be infected. It doesn’t go as he planned, of course, but that’s laid out pretty well in the rest of the route so I won’t re-summarize it here. 

Aaaand that’s about everything for the first Hatoful Boyfriend game! I’ll gladly do infodumps/lore summaries for Holiday Star or the other side materials if anyone wants, but this took almost three hours to write as is so I’m going to give myself a break.

The Story of the Lake Ch. 3

SUMMARY: Mikasa Jaeger works on a public library. At the last hours of the day, a mysterious man comes, sits at the farthest table of the reading area and looks at the lake that is across the street from the library, always without picking any book. Curious, Mikasa tries to find out what brings him everyday to the same place and at the same hour, forgetting in the process her own demons.

The Story of the Lake: One, Two, Three, Four, Five

Another chapter! I’ve been really inspired. Hope you like it ♥

               He keeps coming. Mikasa does her job, helping people find the book they want, writing names on the record while she makes sure anybody is talking out loud, organizing the shelves and making sure nobody steals any book. At the end of the day, she walks over the table in which he sits, taking a cup of tea for herself, and shares the silence with him.

He is always watching the lake. His attention is so focused in it that she is able to see the emotions that dance through his face. She admires the way he stays still for such long moments.

Levi Ackerman is taking all her time.

As winter passes, they start talking. Every now and then, he lets out hazy words of wisdom. She then understands, he really likes to read. However, he’s sincere when he tells her that is not her favorite thing in the world.

What is it, then? Mikasa wants to ask, but doesn’t feel the right to. She wants to ask a lot of things: Why he likes the lake that much? Why does he always sit in the same table? Why does he come at the same hour? Why does he come to a library if it’s not to read? When did he move to the town? What does he do for a living?

She doesn’t question him. And at the end of the day, he smiles, negating with his head, and says “You should’ve asked me.”

The Lake is the main fun of the town. Kids go with their parents and do ice skating, screaming and laughing. Lovers take pictures together, kissing and hugging each other like there’s no tomorrow.

Armin says they should go out with their friends. Instead, Mikasa stays at home, watching horror movies while eating popcorns. When she finishes, she closes her eyes and her mind flies to one person: Levi Ackerman.

She hates it so much but, without even notice it, she is leaving the corpses of a tragedy in the past, and his calmly voice is doing a path through her chest, staying inside.

It is the last day of work for Mikasa this year. Surprisingly, there are a lot of people in the library, buying books and doing requests in the wish lists. They know is the last time the public library is going to be open by what is left of the year.

               Also, is not a surprise that Armin is following Mikasa around the place, repeating the same clauses again and again.

               “Come on! Don’t be boring. Sasha will cook your favorite meal and Jean promised he is going to control himself. You didn’t come to Bertolt’s party last time and I’m still disappointed because you couldn’t see Reiner proposing to him!”

               Mikasa puts three books on a shelf and takes out two more that are in the wrong place.

               She sighs.

               “I have a lot of homework to do. Professors didn’t leave me free time this Christmas, blondie.”

               Armin rolls his eyes.

               “Believe me, I will not fall in that one this time.”

               She turns to face her childhood friend. If she sees further, she’ll find Levi’s form at the last table, watching the lake.

               As always.

               “Why do you insist in going with me so much?”

               “Why shouldn’t I?”

               Mikasa flushes.

               “Because… because…”

               She doesn’t have a logic reason. She just don’t want to act like everything’s OK. She senses danger everywhere, the traumatic expectation of a hooded man with a gun at the dark corner, waiting to kill her friends. Since her foster parents died, since Eren died, she feels the urge to stay at home, saving her loved memories inside four walls. Four years… and it feels like days.

               The only thing that was left of her family is the red scarf. No properties, no money, nothing. She was not included in her parent’s heritage. She never cared that, anyway. She is still thankful, she doesn’t want to be in the sight of thieves again. She used to live in a mansion, surrounded by security everywhere she saw. That didn’t change her family’s destiny, so why care for an inheritance?

               “Who is he?”

               Mikasa blinks. Armin is looking at Levi. Her face goes blank, her pink lips parting apart.

               “He is… a man?”

               “Yes” Says Armin in an obvious tone. “And you’ve been looking at him the whole time.”

               She shuts her mouth and walks to the next shelf.

               “Of course not. I don’t even know him.”

               You liar.

               “Is he your boyfriend?”

               “What?!”

               The books she is holding almost fall of her hands.

               “Well, Sasha told me you asked for a men like five times when you didn’t come to work. She said he was in his thirties and that you didn’t want to tell her if he was handsome or not. Wait… he kinds of remind me of…”

               She is not paying attention.

               Sasha… You did not…!

               “He is… he is not my…”

               “Boyfriend?”

               “No!”

               Armin raises both eyebrows and looks at Levi for some seconds. Then, he thunders his fingers, smiling.

               “Yes! I knew it. I’ve seen this man before.”

               Without thinking twice, Mikasa grabs his left shoulder.

               “You what?”

               “Ouch! You are a beast!” He takes off her hand with a delicate gesture. “Yes. He was my neighbor long time ago. My mom told me once he worked for the CIA killing drug dealers, terrorists and even doing counterintelligence.”

               Mikasa gasps, her eyes as big as ever. Pulling him from his sweater, she pushes him against a hidden shelf out of Levi’s sight.

               “Where did she hear that?”

               Armin opens and shuts his mouth, surprised by her curiosity.

               “You told me you don’t know him!”

               “Long story, zero time. Answer, now.”

               The blonde boy refuses to look at her eyes.

               “He had an older brother. He was murderer at the lake pier in a ‘secret mission’ like a decade or more ago.”

               Mikasa doubts.

               “Really?”

               Armin shrugs. Mikasa narrows her eyes.

               “Do you know what the mission was about?”

               “My mom said they were hunting the leaders of an international child trafficking organization, but everything went wrong because two kids were playing around at the moment and one of them received a gunshot. She said that the child was the son of one of the leaders.”

               Mikasa can’t trust her ears.

               “How did your mom find out about that information?”

               He looks around and lowers his voice.

               “Uncle Hannes works at the police station, remember?”

               “Oh, yes, your uncle.” She stares at Levi again, biting her lip. “Do you believe in that?”

               Armin smiles nervously.

               “Well, he really had a brother, but I don’t think he died because of a ‘secret mission’ as my mom said. Sometimes my uncle is really charlatan.”

               Mikasa stays silent for a second.

               “And what do you believe?”

               Both of them secretly stare at the man. In that moment, Levi is drinking his tea.

               “He fits in that kind of job, CIA… But… nah, it’s just another lie of my uncle. By the way, there’s something that is true: he has a lot of lovers, or at least he did.”

               It feels like a bucket of cold water over her.

               “How do you know that?”

               Armin flushes.

               “I was a kid back then, but I was not blind. I saw a lot of beautiful women going out of his house very often.” He is thoughtful for a moment, until his face lights up, recalling something. “There was this special girl, very cheerful and friendly. Her name was… Isabel Magnate? Magent? Mmmm… Oh, yes! Magnolia. Isabel Magnolia. She always made me laugh. Once, she gave me a lollipop and he was going out of the house, just behind me. He called me brat. He was right, though. I was a brat.”

               Mikasa nods slowly, smiling, but her mind is very far away from there.

               Somehow, she remembers.

               She was sitting at the edge of the pier, her tiny feet skimming the cold water. She was laughing, enjoying the sound of a voice.

               A male voice.

               “What was the name of his brother?”

               “Furlan Church.”

               Furlan Church? Then, why did he tell me his name was Levi Ackerman?

               When she turns to see Levi again, he is gone.

               You should’ve asked me.

A HATOFUL AU MASTERPOST

because who Doesn’t want more bird fuckery

,,,,it occurred to me while writing this that it is very Shuu-centric. Hm.

HATOFUL BOYFRIEND IS WHAT IT IS: GRIM, BLOODY, A HORRIBLY FEATHERY MESS

THE USUAL WARNINGS APPLY: MENTIONS OF BLOOD, DEATH, TRAUMA, KNIVES, SEX, FIRE, SICKNESS, SWEARING (most of that is on my part)

ALSO SPOILERS. SO MANY FUCKING SPOILERS, GUYS.

READ AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION.

Redverse AU: Vincent and I’s brainchild. This is the big bad, the main boss, the ‘good god what have we done to these poor birdies’ verse. Shuu/Hitori focused with lots of fluffy Tohri/Kazuaki on the side. Also includes Ryouta/Sakuya and Yuuya/Hiyoko.

Nageki Fujishiro dies in a fire in a certain medical centre, his body completely destroyed. Left with no way to fulfil his dead mentor’s final wish, Souma Isa grows desperate and goes to the only person he can think of to manipulate and keep him looked after - Hitori Uzune. Through a combination of outright lies and using the quail’s mourning over his dead brother against him, Souma manages to convince the other to let him stay in the apartment Hitori had once shared with Nageki.

Joined by their next-door neighbours Kazuaki Nanaki (an old friend of Hitori’s who knew Nageki well) and Tohri Nishikikouji (working part-time at the same school Hitori was working at, as well as having history with Souma) the four are a strange quartet of not-quite friendship and awkward feelings, especially when Souma realises he might be falling in love with Hitori and visa-versa. This is not helped by Tohri and Kazuaki, who begin dating around the same time and even move in together.

Knowing that he cannot enter a relationship with Hitori with the knowledge that the cause of Nageki’s death was at Souma’s hands weighing on his shoulders - rather than the lies Hitori had been told depicting Souma’s innocence - Souma tells his housemate the whole truth.

Hitori does not take it well (which is to be expected) and kicks Souma out, leaving the partridge no choice but to swap rooms with Kazuaki next door. After a month of witnessing Souma sink into a deep depression and struggling with his own unrequited feelings for the partridge, Tohri makes the mistake of letting Souma convince him to have sex with the other. Two days later, Souma is gone.

3 years later and Hitori, Tohri and Kazuaki have moved closer to St. Pigeonations, where the three of them will be teaching together as Maths, Science and Japanese professors respectively. During their first week, they meet Shuu Iwamine - a familiar-faced chukar partridge, who’s medical work had become world-renowned in a very short amount of time. Though it’s obvious who he really is, Hitori is content to ignore it - and life carries on.

There’s more but I can’t be bothered to write it. Just trust me when I say everything ends up alright in the end - Hitori and Shuu get married, they adopt M&K + Ryouta; Kazoo and Tohri adopt their own kid (an OC). Things are okay. I’ll probably end up making a separate post for this AU at some point anyway.

REDVERSE OFFSHOOTS:

Saved AU - Instead of letting Nageki die in the fire, Souma saves his life. It’s basically Redverse except Nageki’s alive, so things turn out a Little differently but not by much. The same pairings apply except now with added Anghel/Nageki.

(OC FOCUSED) Reality TV Show AU: Red Edition - It’s the Reality TV Show AU, except it exists in Redverse instead of Canonverse. Scroll down for more.

Hanahaki Disease AU - Okay but what if people just fucking coughed up flowers, guys. What if the flowers represented unrequited love and were different types depending on who you were in love with. What if Redverse happened except This existed and so it’s easier to tell who’s in love with who, if you’re good at deciphering flowers. FLOWER SYMBOLISM, GUYS. This isn’t restricted to Redverse, it can be combined with other AUs.

Prankster AU: Imagine Happyverse. Now think about Shuu. Imagine Shuu as a not-necessarily-bad-guy who in reality only likes to prank people a lot. He still acts like a cockbag, but he Isn’t. That’s what this is. Ever wanted the St. Pigeonations faculty to have a prank war? Look no further. The kids are involved. Nobody is spared from a water-balloon to the face. This is a Pure Universe.

Soul Eater AU: Don’t even fucking look at me; just keep scrolling. This one needs it’s own post. All you need to know right now is Asshole!Ryuuji exists and he is one shitty motherfucker.

Roleswap AU - Hitori & Shuu Edition: Basically exactly what it sounds like - Hitori and Shuu swap roles, but they keep their individual personality traits and while some events do not change, others do. Pairings include Hitori/Ryuuji (onesided) and Shuu/Kazuaki.

Souma Isa is the eldest sibling to the Hatoful House orphans; his parents killed in an explosion that scarred him for life, partially paralysed him and left him colourblind. Hitori Uzune is the youngest member of the Hawk Party Life Science Research division (LiSciRe for short) and is a kindhearted, hardworking boy loved by all his elders. However, when Ryuuji Kawara dies, something in Hitori breaks and he vows to finish what his mentor started, haunted by a shadow in his heart - the shadow of Ryuuji. 

When the rest of the Hatoful House orphans are killed in a human terrorist attack, Souma and his one remaining sibling - Nageki Fujishiro - are forced to move away. But Nageki’s heath is failing and, in a desperate bid to keep his brother alive, Souma accepts one Hitori Uzune’s offer to fix Nageki. The boy kills himself in a fire and his spirit becomes bound to Souma, determined to make sure his brother does not fall down a dark path.

Despite his slowly failing sanity, Souma is spurred on by his dead brother and finds friendship in a depressed quail by the name of Kazuaki Nanaki. The two grow close over a short amount of time, desperate for the companionship.

However, Hitori needs a new identity - Souma is slowly hunting the quail down, determined to exact revenge for his brother and Hitori doesn’t fancy the idea of becoming Christmas dinner - and Souma’s (unwillingly) provided him with the perfect cover.

Souma spends only a weekend away from Kazuaki; but a weekend is all Hitori needs. When the partridge returns, his friend is nowhere to be found.

Changing his name for fear of his own life at Hitori’s hands, Souma Isa becomes Shuu Iwamine and takes a job as a maths professor at the foremost avian school in the world; St. Pigeonations Academy. There he meets Kazuaki Nanaki for a second time - but he is no longer the man Shuu remembers.

The real Kazuaki is dead.

(OC FOCUSED) Reality TV Show AU: You all know what a reality TV show is. A camera-crew follows you around and records basically everything that happens in your daily life. Imagine that, except it’s the lives of our favourite birdie boyfriends being recorded as they go about their school day. Takes place in canon.

Beniko Segura comes from a family of talented parrots and he is desperate to prove his own worth in the modern day world. Taking on the TV Industry headfirst, he decides to create his own show based around St. Pigeonations Academy; world famous for producing some of the best results from students this decade! 

Assisted by his exasperated but loyal cameraman, Jun Sasaki, the two make it their goal to follow the lives of the most interesting people in school - and, subsequently, get themselves caught up in the talons of a certain doctor when Beni starts poking his nose where it doesn’t belong.

THE OCS:

Beniko Segura - A flashy parrot man who’s made it his goal in life to be just as successful as the rest of his family; constantly overshadowed by his elder twin siblings. In reality, he’s a failure at everything he does and all his shows so far have been flops. Though he’d do better for himself if he slowed down a little and realised he doesn’t need to be the best for people to admire him (COUGHjunCOUGH), the man is unfortunately too thickheaded to see it. Overall a positive, upbeat bird who’d make friends more easily if he wasn’t so loud, abrasive and melodramatic.

Jun Sasaki - A nondescript, everyday generic pigeon who managed to get a job as a cameraman through lots of back-channels and favours in... Interesting places. Spends a lot of his spare time fighting in illegal underground boxing rings and is well known for his winning steak - though you wouldn’t guess it, looking at him. Small but well built, he’s the perfect man for his job and enjoys it a lot. Though he complains to others over being fed up of having to practically babysit his boss in reality he quite likes Beni, perhaps more than he should do considering their relationship is work-only. He’s polite, but fairly anti-social and very much a realist.

Soft Gore AU: Isn’t Sweet!Shuu just a great bird, guys? He’s so nice and definitely not a murderer- oh, wait, yeah he is; at least in this AU. Based around the idea of Shuu being outwardly kind and nice, but still being an asshole serial killer. Potentially worse than Canon!Shuu - he took out Tohri’s eye and made the other eat it, so. It’s called soft gore for a reason.

Ageswap AU: WE ALL ALREADY KNOW WHAT THIS ONE IS. MOVE ALONG.

Haunted AU: What if Hitori had died in the Hatoful House incident? What if Nageki had been discovered by Hawk Party agents and placed under Souma’s authority as a lab guinea pig? What if Hitori was a ghost, haunting his brother and watching over him? What if Souma discovered the Charon Virus, but he’d become too attached to Nageki to harness it properly? What if he took Nageki and went on the run with the boy, desperate to protect him? WHAT IF TOHRI WAS EVIL??

Threesome AU: Obviously the only logical thing to do when you hate your local school doctor is fuck his brains out - it releases stress, after all! Don’t worry, Nanaki and Yuuya make sure they take turns. At least they love each other, if not poor Shuu. He likes it rough, though.  A fun AU where everything is basically PwP - kink your hearts out. Blood and knives are, of course, welcome. Polyam Nanaki/Shuu/Yuuya is the focus here.

Domestic AU: Unless your thing is more plain old NanaIwa! I’m not complaining, I love me some good old Hate Husbands. There’s not much to say about this one aside from the fact that it’s post BBL - Nanaki and Shuu living together in uncomfortable cooperation while Shuu gets his legs back, treating each other cruelly and having hatesex all the while. The two do eventually end up falling in love after Shuu gets out of the wheelchair, however. Can potentially be combined with the Threesome AU for that polyam goodness.

Soulmate AU: THIS ONE ALSO NEEDS ITS OWN POST??? HONESTLY???? But to summarise, it’s a Happyverse-like AU where soulmates can feel each other’s emotions separate to their own (depending on the strength of the emotion can cause physical reactions between soulmates) - and the characters don’t necessarily need to be in a romantic relationship, either. Can be combined with other AU’s as well which tends to create interesting dynamics.

Evil Dads AU: Remember a few paragraphs ago where I mentioned ‘asshole!Ryuuji’? Imagine Happyverse, except now Ryuuji’s evil. And so is Tohri. And so is Shuu. And so is Ryouta. And they’re all one big happy evil family! Basically Ryouta’s being trained by his Dad and Co to be a Hawk Party agent, all the while living out his usual canon lifestyle - spending time with Hiyoko, crossdressing, making friends. Tohri/Shuu is a thing, but it isn’t the focus.
