#warframe Deimos

The latest warframe update just made me realize how hilarious a lot of the worldbuilding for Deimos sounds. To count:
-it is the moon that holds the one power source for your main tool in the game
-it is completely infected by the cyborg disease that turns you into a flesh monster. To the point it has boils and organs
-one of the only safe spots is the home of a family consisting of members of a superhuman race that ran the most oppressive empire possible
-the family are all sticking out of giant flesh flowers and act like a sitcom about the least functional family possibly
-one member of the family helps organize a small guerilla warfare group that regularly sabotages the remnants of a cult that briefly took over the solar system (through what’s essentially future discord/zoom)
-another member bought a series of vents on a space evangelist’s slave colony on Venus so the homeless kids living there don’t have to worry about being evicted from there so they can continue setting up street races
-deep below the surface, the boyfriend of the family’s distant patriarch who discovered a parallel dimension that warps space was snoozing for millennia.
-said boyfriend is currently helping organizing a lab manned by talking animals made to safely send the patriarch to 1999 in order to distract an eldritch entity from the realm he discovered and fight off said entity as he sends his minions to tear the lab apart
-the only person who knows about this lab is a robot servant based off the boyfriend, who has a human skull embedded in him and a split personality that speaks through cracks on his back made to look like a face
-this planet lets you get mechs (with human skulls in the cockpits)
-during the event where a different member of the superhuman overlord race usurped an army of a vengeful robot race to take over the solar system, they completely avoided this moon like the plague (which is technically is)
-upon finding the lab you are given a book of spells

So after whispers in the wall i decided to max my standing with the Entrati family cause I got to "Associate" before i took a break from warframe.
And people...it's awkward.
I'm here helping this soap opera of a family be less....bunch of racoons in wafflehouse dumpster arguing about who lit it on fire.
Then they start talking about mothers father Albrecht and how her inability to cope with the fact that he is gone and she need to let go of the past.
And im here doing my best smile going
"Yup that Albrecht, really sad he just disappeared like that, probably gone forever and stuff"
And then when you max and you become family they confront mother and convince her to let go and she says "...no, father i release you. Let me live for the sake of the living"
Meanwhile I'm there like the person at the dinner table with the juiciest cossip and vibrating because i have to play along and NOT talk about the secret club of Albrecht in the basement whose members are me, a bunch of intelligent animals that ALSO call him dad (so hey she got siblings) and the totally platonic babygirl butler that pines to hard for her dad that it nearly broke a hole in reality.
AND we're trying to help her maybe alive dad back in the year 1999.
I friggin love this game.

"What if we got isekai'd into Warframe?" ~ @thatbeeperson
In which Bee spun a wheel to see what happens to us, and what warframe we become.
I drew a fusion between my sona, the infested (drawing inspiration from both deimos wildlife and the flesh petal...things, that the entraty sprout from when you wake them up), and Protea.
This was an absolute delight to draw

I liked Veilbreaker. It was very short, but I liked the focus being on Kahl, kept short enough to not overwhelm with new information but long enough to get a feel for what his missions might be like.
Spoilers below the cut
I wish we’d gotten a bit of dialogue from the Operator/Drifter, especially when Kaeli got a little snide about him being a Grineer when she first finally made contact with him? Idk, I felt like that would’ve ticked off the Tenno a bit, ‘cause the Tenno weren’t much better than glorified slaves before they dismantled the Orokin Empire, right?
And then again in the follow-up dialogue after the quest, if you hit the communications screen. Sure, maybe the Tenno didn’t hear it all on the Murex, but that’s right out there in the open in the Tenno’s camp.
Play-wise, it definitely felt a little sluggish and clunky, and I’ve seen some complaints about that, but I didn’t mind it too terribly much? It definitely serves the narrative of the Tenno being the most powerful force in the system, especially when you swap from playing a lone Tenno to a lone Grineer.
That, and it’s a different character with a different mode. We’re accustomed to playing in squads of people there to do their own thing, who we have no control of, as opposed to a single Grineer commanding a team. It’s going to feel unwieldy until we get used to it.
That being said, I wish some things had been made a little clearer, like what button did what, or what to do with the grenades now randomly floating around the map. Took me a while to figure out that I was the one controlling the grenades and I would pick them up passively after using one.
On that note RIP Kahl and Rogg for blowing them up three times because I didn’t know what button I was hitting lol.

Xaku and the Entrati family
Just a small analysis I wrote a couple months ago. [Spoilers for Heart of Deimos] I love how Xaku's background story is a reflection of the Entrati family's situation. Of course, there is a direct connection between them and the family, as Xaku is composed of three Warframes that were asigned to the Entratis, but there is also a more emotional connection.
Let's put it into simple words, to compare: -> something is lost to the Void -> as a result of that, something breaks -> through another's influence, broken parts become something new, damaged and changed, but whole again
Xaku: -> the three Warframes were lost to the Void -> they broke while in the Void -> they were fused back together (either by the Void itself or some other force) into Xaku, a broken Warframe Entrati Family: -> Albrecht Entrati is lost to the Void -> Mother's grief over loosing her father breaks her family apart (definitely there were other factors, but this seems to have been the main catalyst). -> the Tenno helps them grow back together as a family. They are damaged, emotionally and physically by the infestation but seem to slowly become a unit again.
Also, notable is the theme of Mother dismembering Father, quite literally breaking his physical form. We have three Warframes becoming one and three family generations (Grandma/Parents/Children) coming together. Xaku's deluxe has the art of Kintsugi as its main theme (putting broken ceramics back together and painting the cracks golden, not only repairing it but elevating its status). Why does a fixed plate hold more value? Because someone found it worth fixing. It was valued. The same goes for the family; after saving the Heart, the Tenno could just leave, but they instead decide to run errands for the family, helping them come together-finding value in them. What would have been the other option? Indifference.

My hot take(?) of this update's going to be that Albrechts laments of how he doesn't deserve Loid are completely justified because he actually really doesn't, but at the same time this is (thank god) not about what he deserves but what Loid is willing to give, and we already know that that is more than likely everything, so shut up grandpa and if you're so bothered by you being unworthy than try to change That.
