for your operator- duviri, whispers in the walls, howl of the kubrow, and new war
-@ophidian-bite
Thanks for the ask!
The Duviri Paradox: How would they react to swapping places with the Drifter? Would they enjoy Duviri? Why or why not? I think Operator Kaine would get very easily annoyed with Duviri's Spirals and over-the-top inhabitants, even if he would enjoy the landscape and wildlife. If he suddenly swapped places with Drifter Callan and had to deal with Thrax's whole schtick, Kaine would be overconfident about his ability to deal with the Dax up until he realizes that he has limited access to his Warframe in the open world, then he'd start to have massive separation anxiety.
I think Kaine could get used to Duviri, given time, but doing the same thing day after day and being without his Warframe would be more torturous than anything Thrax could do, tbh.
Whispers in the Walls: What is your character's perspective on the Void?
Kaine thinks the Void- and the Man in the Wall, by extension- is an absolute godsend. Even if Wally's intentions are about as clear as a brick wall, Kaine is incredibly grateful for his intervention. The Void made Kaine into something that the Orokin feared, and having that power over them was 100% worth making a vague deal with a eldritch Void horror for.
The Void is also a massive comfort to him. Before the collapse of the Orokin Empire, he was assigned to a Railjack, and a large majority of the time he was allowed (and even encouraged!) to be something other than another cog in the Orokin's war machine was during the slivers of downtime while travelling in the Void.
Even though the Void has been involved with almost every major traumatic event that's happened to the poor kid, it's also been present for, if not the source of every drop of kindness he's been shown.
Howl of the Kubrow: Does your character have any pets? Do they like animals?
Kaine has a few pets, but isn't known for being much of an animal enthusiast. He mostly leans towards Kavat-type companions. Currently, he has:
Biscuts, Tan Moonless Smeeta Kavat Temperamental and aloof, but incredibly loyal. Also prone to getting sick or injured easily.
Concrete, Panzer Vulpaphyla Playful and rather "head empty no thoughts". They were Kaine's first companion!
Ohm, Charcoal Vasca Kavat He's still very much a kitten, so what his personality will end up being is a bit of mystery. For now, he's proven to be a menace specifically to Drifter Callan, and goes out of his way to chew up the Drifter's belongings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The New War: How did they react to discovering their Drifter counterpart? Where were they during Narmer's invasion?
Kaine originally met encountering Callan with skepticism, but neither of them tried to kill each other, so I'd say meeting each other went relatively well. Even if they were standoffish with each other for the remainder of the New War, they started to argue like siblings afterwards, so I doubt they hate hate each other, even if it seems like it at times. As for Narmer's invasion, Kaine did try to help push the Sentient forces back at first, but retreated into hiding after the location and security of his clan's dojo was compromised and its members scattered. He spend the rest of the New War attempting to live nomadically on his railjack, which worked for a little bit, at least.

Hey! I hope you don't mind the ask but I was curious how you came up with the lore for your Operator/Drifter separate from the game's story stuff. Like, how did you decide x did y outside of what the story provides us? A lot of my struggle is deciding what mine did without breaking canon/deviating too much?
Hi, I don't mind this type of ask at all, in fact this gives me an opportunity to ramble. :D Obviously, this will be my own personal approach to the story so feel free to take inspiration or try to change things in your favor.
My solution to the canon problem is this - I have 3 "main" Tenno OCs, and I designated one of them to be the "canon" Tenno so that their lore mirrors the main questline (Second Dream up to The New War), and that is also a philosophy I use for my other Tenno OCs. Basically, I have an idea of a character and what they do and then I apply quests and story lines that would be fit for that particular character.
Artemis is my "main" Tenno, she also doesn't have any strong allegiances (maybe except the Lotus), which in turn makes her more plastic so I can change and adjust her story as fits, while still keeping basics like her personality (she is brash, she is a fighter, she likes to let her emotions take hold of her and rush into situations, guns blazing). She does have a backstory that is unique to her, but all of that happened pre-current timeline so regardless of what DE throws at us her backstory can stay the same (unless we get a flashback type quest of the Orokin era/Old War but I'll cross that bridge if it appears before me).
Eir is the creator of Duviri, but I also allowed myself to bend the canon that there is more than one Drifter and that Duviri may have more islands that we just never saw (and since Conceptual Embodiment is a thing, technically anyone exposed to the Void long enough could dream up world, people, anything really). That way Artemis can be the "main" character who is hunted by Dominus Thrax, whereas Eir is somewhere to the side as a sort of secret protagonist.
This leaves Virgo completely independent of the main plot, so she can be a "gag character" who fits into all sorts of situations. She also has her unique story and background but other OCs take the burden of being part of the "main" story.
I hope this explains. I tried not to get too much into the details of each character, just give an overview of how to develop OCs for a live-service game.
I am also of the opinion that you can just ignore canon or pretend there is a mysterious Tenno doing heroic deeds while your Tenno is doing their own thing - maybe they're pals with the Solaris, maybe they're working at a Grineer junkyard, maybe they JUST woke up and think the Old War is still going. Warframe is very sandbox-y even if some of the quests try to give us a definitive "lore" for us.

Rising Tide for Operator Samuel, Vor's Prize for Wukong, and Natah for Drifter Samuel!
-grineerios
Ok, so @grineerios and for anyone else reading, a small disclaimer: Drifter Samuel and Wukong don't really exist as seperate characters, as Wukong is not conscious at all, and Drifter Samuel doesn't yet exist as a character (though I have made some very early explorations). So ill answer the prompts for Operagor Samuel but using the questions for the other two:
Rising tide (What do they remember from the Old War?)-
I would say Samuel would remember quite a good deal from his time in the War, but most memories would probably be of his outlandish ways of dealing with the Sentients (like crushing a whole platoon of sentient troopers by dropping an unstable slab of Moon-rock right on top of them), though I do believe Samuel to be the type to have also had plenty of his signature 'pranks' along the way on his fellos and potentially even a few superiors (he doesn't take authority all that seriously)
Vor's prize (originally How did the Warframe feel about being connected to a Tenno? But I will go for the opposite, aka Samuel's first time piloting a frame)-
His powers being much stronger and ironically much easier to control I would say allowed Samuel to grasp Transference rather quickly. But the second he did it was like a whole new world of movement and freedom had opened up to him. He definitely spent the first few weeks just parkouring everywhere instead of walking because it was just that much more exilirating to be able to bullet jump and glide. Much to the chagrin of his brother, who saw this as an irresponsible use of what was clearly supposed to be a weapon.
Natah (Do they have any dark or embarassing secrets?)- Samuel wears most of his sins firmly on his sleeves. In fact, he would be very much inclined to tell you, in great detail, how satisfying of an ordeal setting a Corpus Treasurer on fire and just watching them flail around as they're scorched to ash is. However, there is one prank that, while on the surface not as dark as most others, that even Samuel himself considered so repulsive so as to forget. However, that is explored more in the fic of mine about him.
Should anyone else wish to use this ask game for their own purposes or to give me a few more asks, I'll find a link to Grineerios' original post and link it as an edit.
Edit: here's the original post

Say, you do a lot of art of warframes themselves, but have you ever considered making a/multiple warframe oc/s? Would you even have any ideas for stories or unique designs?
I really appreciate the ask!! <3
I don't think I've ever made a fully original Warframe, if that's what you mean, but I do characterize most of them as if they were OCs! I might take a crack at making a fully original one sometime though, it sounds like a fun challenge. ^^
I have a little AU, I'm making it up as I go through the star chart and other quests (I'm relatively early game afaik), and just because of the way I write, the story is pretty loose. But it's there!
The premise is basically just "What if Warframes were autonomous on their own and didn't need Operators", but this means there's different cliques, rivalries, relationships, and there's a few loose plots going on - sort of like one big collection of short stories! I think most of them count as somewhat original because, while they don't relate to any in-game quests usually, it's still Warframe.
As for entirely original stories about them, it always takes me a while to get there as I'm really more of an artist (hell, even an animator) than a writer, but I try!! I personally doubt I'll go this route though haha, I really prefer drawing ^^

(I accidentally deleted your ask, but @alu-cd sent in Crux + Once Awake!)
Once Awake: "Has your character ever encountered the Infestation? What are their thoughts on it?"
Crux has- twice. Despite his archeological lust, he refuses to touch Infested derelicts, even if it means missing out on Prime artifacts. He knows he's still a biological being- he's fairly certain that even with his rearranged anatomy, he could still catch the disease.
The first time he encountered it was when he investigated a ruined tower orbiting one of Mars' moons. Despite the warnings he'd heard about Deimos, he decided to investigate, drawn in by the tales of pristine relics found in timeless vaults. When he reached the derelict, the overgrowth was disconcerting. He never saw the monsters- no, but he heard their rabid growls and pained screams. His breaking point came when a feral kavat pounced on him while he was mapping the tower.
The second time, it was a rescue mission, or so the Corpus claimed. In actuality, it was more of a salvage assessment. Tasked with finding the derelicts captain, both Corpus and Solaris knew there was no hope when they found the ship had been broken into three parts, then knit back together with strands of pulsating, rust-colored flesh. Crux had gotten his MOA arm by now- and its Arson Eximus properties sure came in handy when a Crawler tried to make an afternoon snack of the expedition party. The search was called off prematurely, due to heat signatures indicating the presence of an Infested Hive.
Crux doesn't necessarily fear the Infestation, but he respects it as a force of nature, much like how one wouldn't run towards a tornado, or fistfight a bear. No stockpile of relics or void keys is worth his life, despite how tempting it is sometimes.
