I wanted to share some more additions to THIS post (my favourite piece of Cornley lore/meta ever) but the post itself is getting a bit messy and all over the place so I've condensed it all into this post!
The BBC offered a university drama group with a history of things going wrong, a spot on their main broadcasting service and despite them driving a ship through their studios, setting the set on fire, fighting with BBC crew and having to call an ambulance, they invited them back MULTIPLE TIMES.
Here are some theories:
My original tags - If you only take the BBC broadcasts as canon, what were they thinking? even with Max’s relative/s in the BBC nobody questioned it? what was max going to do if they didn’t give them the spot? Did Max have blackmail on his aunt, or did she just love him too much to deny him? where was the rest of the BBC? why did nobody step in to stop them? Could you argue the BBC are trying to produce a comedy show by using Cornley who are actually trying but marketing it as a comedy show?
@starship-ranger-bug ‘s tags - I personally love the idea of the BBC being like ‘okay don’t tell the actors but we’re going to market this as a comedy show’. also when you take into account that the BBC blacklisted them after ppgw so they had to hijack Christmas carol gives so many hilarious impressions ‘they absolutely just did something illegal but viewers thought it was planned and loved it so I suppose we should let them keep going?’
me - cornley forcefully took a spot on the BBC and they were just like ‘sure! come back!’ and just gave them more rules like use spoons instead of knives to try and do damage control
@personinthepalace ‘s tags - also in the nativity the BBC absolutely added those fire alarm drills just to annoy Chris. ‘adds to the comedy’ they say to themselves. also after Christmas carol I think Sandra’s aunt talked to the BBC which helped them get play of the week started on the BBC. they still get letters of complaints though so bet it would be from people who think its an actual bad show despite it being marketed as a comedy show. Also I love that they forced them to use spoons instead of knives but 100% did not expect for Robert to bring an actual gun.
me - Is the BBC just run by relatives of cornley?  I love the image of the BBC slowly coming to love CDS and just having teams ready to do damage control trying to let them do what they want bc they fell a bit in love with the one who smiles at the audience or the one who always ends up as the animal or-
@personinthepalace ‘s tags - I think Dennis’s grandma has some influence too???apparently she’s why Dennis got a leading role in trial to watch
@furball-for-a-head ‘s tags - also in ppgw when they burst into the news room and the newsreader is just announcing the cancellation of the community choice programme adds an extra level of hilarity because it suggests just how many complaints poured in. they had to cancel the whole programme that allowed the CDS on air in the first place WHILE THEY WERE STILL ON AIR and going from that level of hatred to funding for an entire show? character development.
@i-have-a-thing-for-brooms-too ‘s tags - Okay so personally I think that the plays are aired live at like 3.45 on Wednesday mornings. the CPDS are insane enough to actually do live plays at that hour. it doesn't make sense in any other respect but I think it’s funny to imagine and thus I imagine it.
@bagadew ‘s tags - it’s very simple really, the one time they didn’t invite them back they hijacked a Christmas carol. they have been given a broadcasting slot to placate them so they don’t do it again.

Hakuoki SSL Kazama Daily Story 1
First post of the month, so I’ll start by asking you to please support me if you can either on ko-fi (https://ko-fi.com/V7V2W0HO) or through paypal (paypal.me/KumoriYami )…. also let me know if you have any hakuoki drama cds that you’d be willing to share that are on my looking for list since i don’t have the audio for those….. I HAVE ADDED MORE CDS WHICH I HAVE TL FOR (though I still haven’t gotten around to cleaning up that list).
I’m going to start by saying mentioning some things.
I’ve been extremely exhausted lately cuz I’m working waaaay more hours that normal so I’m not going to TL anything longer than the ssl short stories done for this month.
I recently gained access to Hakuoki SSL release countdown audio files which are unfortunately no longer on the Otomate Hakuoki SSL website though I could only find 12 of a total 13 translations for said countdown....not sure when i’ll get to those.
I found a translation for the Sengoku Night Blood stuff x Hakuoki interaction event in Chinese that’s in actual text (it’s way too much effort to take text off videos to tl).... but iuno what to do with it since I already have an extremely long list of things I wanna do, though as I’ve never played the game, and only have a passing interest in it, i wouldn’t know what is what and would be relying on MTL for char names and wouldn’t recognize if something is relevant to the Night Blood lore, plus I don’t want to translate anything that someone else might plan on doing....
I’m going to be translating some of the Otomate Hakuoki blog posts for this month.... which I explicitly do not want reblogged as the content originates from Otomate’s websites... which are still active. If they do get reblogged, I will be refraining from posting future translations of them outside of what I have planned for this month and will be deleting them all next month (i’ll be putting this warning up on all of them).
Anyway. Translation. 3 of 7 for Daily Story 1.
This is my second favourite of the daily story 1 stories (after saito’s obviously lol. i feel bad for amagiri... though it’s probably good that kazama was only like this in the yuugiroku games). Also, on a side note, I’ve updated the Daily story 1+3 for Saito with a bit more pics.... still haven’t gotten around to learning how to modify my vita.
Tumblr media
Enjoy~!
Note:  “【” and “】” being used to indicate something being said in English.
Hakuoki SSL Daily Story 1 - Kazama
Translation by KumoriYami
Tumblr media
Kazama: Ah......Remembering our meeting from a few days ago, my heart is still filled with excitement/I am still overwhelmed by emotion.
Kazama: I believe that her cheeks were blushing then[/that she was blushing then]. What a beautiful moment that was.
Amagiri: A meeting? I heard that you only had lunch together in the school cafeteria……
Kazama: When I looked at her, she was like a small animal [had the appearance of/resembled a small animal], indeed truly lovely.
Amagiri:……I do not think that was shyness[her being shy], but rather fear [showing fear].
Kazama: Amagiri. Sure enough/Indeed, Chizuru is suitable to become my wife/is the right person to become my wife......
Amagiri:…………
Kazama: She is [so] obviously in love, but is quiet about it/yet doesn't want to show it, as usual her behaviour is too cute.
Kazama: Moreover, when I was with her, she was holding herself back with tears in her eyes. She unexpectedly used these/such methods to appeal to me. [iuno????????????]
Amagiri:……No, I, how should I say this……
Kazama: All right, Amagiri. Now we are going to move to the next stage [We shall be moving to the next stage.]. Now that we've had lunch together, we're practically engaged now.
Kazama: It seems that preparing for a 【SURPRISE】 is necessary. She must be/has to be given a very big 【SURPRISE】.
Tumblr media
Amagiri: The so called-surprise, meaning[/being?]?
Kazama:Ah......This 【SURPRISE】? As long as you know what a woman dreams of, you'd/you'll understand.
Tumblr media
Amagiri:…………
Kazama: It's a wedding dress.
Kazama: Amagiri, get ready. Measurements must first be taken. Don't forget to get me a clothing designer [i got like a -110% interest in fashion design and stuff so if there’s a better term to say this idc and will not know of it lol].
Amagiri: This is/Isn't that...... a bit too much. I believe that doing this/doing these types of things so suddenly, may cause her to feel uncomfortable.
Kazama: What are you saying/talking about. It's a woman's dream to wear a wedding dress.
Kazama: Besides, if it's being given by the man you love, what woman wouldn't like it. [the punctuation in  Chinese had these as separate sentences... which didn't make sense so I changed it. Originally: "....man you love. What woman wouldn't like it."
Alternatively this could be read as: Besides, being given this by your beloved man. What woman wouldn't like it.]
Kazama: Ah......That's true/That's true too/as well. We're already in love, so we can directly move to having a wedding/holding a wedding ceremony.
Amagiri:…………
Kazama: Amagiri, go and get a church/chapel ready/go and prepare a church/chapel. Also wedding invitations need to be prepared/a list of who will be invited to the wedding needs to be prepared.
Kazama: Ahahahahaha...... Things are going to get busy.
Tumblr media
Amagiri:…………
(Kazama exits)
Amagiri: It's me. Hurry up and prepare now/Make preparations right away.
Tumblr media
Amagiri: Yes/Right/correct. As usual/Like before, do everything you can to stop Kazama-sama. Then please/At once please.
-----------
I have started looking at the Hakuo Gakuen School Assembly drama.... though I still need help translating about 15(ish?) seconds worth of dialogue since I have no TL for where voices overlap...(going to plan a page for incomplete drama tls in the future since there’s one similar to the “One Inch Samurai” that i reallllly wanna translate but I only have 4/7 tracks of tl for it).
....also im feeling super irritated since one of my translations for a character perspective (something that I put in the post queue since it was almost done. i do that to remind myself of what day i want something posted, even if it’s not done) disappeared from tumblr. submitted a ticket.... but I really hope i can recover at least part of it cuz that particular one had almost 30 sentences translated and I didn’t make a back-up.... *sigh* usually i use nimble writer for my TL documents, but i have a tendency not to when translating short things....

Biscuit Reviews The Witcher III Wild Hunt (2-year Anniversary Review)
Tumblr media
The Witcher III: Wild Hunt is perhaps my favorite game to come out of the PS4/Xbox One/Wii U-Switch console era. It’s won tons of awards and was game of the year for many people in 2015. I didn’t get into the Witcher series until Witcher II: Assassin of Kings was a free download for Xbox Live members in 2016.
After I finished Witcher II, I immediately went to Witcher III and my god, talk about an amazing sequel. It was bigger, it was better, and for being the end of Geralt’s story, it did a great job for making newcomers such as myself, not feel lost at all.
I’m going to be spoiling the game so if you haven’t played Witcher III, definitely play it before going into this review.
The story of Witcher III, revolves around Geralt of Rivia, a witcher looking for his adoptive daughter Ciri alongside his on and off again lover Yennefer of Vengerburg.
Geralt will travel through large open world zones during his quest. Velen took inspiration from the Polish and Northern German countryside, Novigrad is reminiscent of the Polish city of Gdańsk during the medieval era, and finally you have the Skellige Isles, taking inspiration from Ireland. Each of these areas are massive and beautiful to look at. It’s easy to forget that you’re in a world currently being ravaged by war or filled with monsters until you stumble across areas that give you a stark reminder that there is a war happening.
One thing that I love about the game is how it handled decisions. There’s no clear good or bad decision, everything has a shade of grey. Sure there are choices that sound better in the short term, but it could have long term ramifications that could come back to haunt Geralt. One example is Triss’s quest line in Novigrad. Sure, you’re helping mages escape the city to where they no longer have to fear for themselves, but by doing so, you give the witch hunters a new target to pursue, which are non-human races such as elves and dwarves. However, if you don’t help mages escape, than later in the story Geralt’s dwarven friend, Zoltan, can help him with a jailbreak. If you do help the mages, Zoltan won’t be able to assist Geralt due to not wanting to face the wrath of the witch hunters.
Even the types of decisions you make are fantastic as well. All of these choices are actions that Geralt himself would make and do in that situation, it’s just a matter what you believe would be the overall choice he would go with. With many choice based games, dialogue options cover many aspects of a character archetype, because normally, you are making a character and are taking that character on the journey. In this case, Geralt is a character, he has his own beliefs, likes and dislikes, and dialogue choices reflect his specific personality rather than a personality a player would create.
It’s also why some aspects in gameplay are limited such as crafting. Geralt is able to craft oils and potions on his own as long as he has the formula and the ingredients. Applying the proper oil and drinking the necessary potions are necessary for fighting monsters in this game, which I’ll discuss more about later. When it comes to making armor and swords, Geralt has to seek out a Blacksmith to make these items as Geralt himself doesn’t have the kind of skill set, therefore he has to seek out a person able to build these items.
I also love how story quests and side quests interact with one another. Main story quests could go differently if you’ve done some side quests that relate to that specific quest and vice versa. Also the fact that side quests have just as much weight as the main quests make them feel more important and worth doing for that extra bit of lore or for that impact it could have on the main story.
As well polished and built the Witcher III is, it does have some minor glitches being an open world game. Sometimes you’ll find objects just randomly floating in air. Occasionally the input to talk to NPCs won’t work and you’ll have to either step back and walk forward to have the prompt reappear or just reposition Geralt himself for the NPC to talk to you. The fact that Geralt can either die or get heavily damaged from ridiculously low heights is also highly annoying and instills a fear of any small dropping points.
Another issue I would like to point out is that it’s not exactly the most socially inclusive. A lot of the main women are highly sexualized and sometimes feel that they’re nude for the sake of it. There are moments where you can choose anti-LGBT dialogue options when you encounter those characters, which I found exteremly baffeling that it was an option considering Ciri is bi and Geralt seems supportive in the dialogue they exchange. I get it, it’s a choice, you don’t have select those options, but the fact that they’re there to begin with just leaves a bit of a bad taste. Let’s not forget the entire ocean of white people in this game. I’m sorry, but including two people of color in a DLC just doesn’t cut it. Does it break the game for me? No, but I think not acknowledging that this exists within the game is even worse.
As mentioned previously, monsters have certain weakness and you are expected to exploit those weakness when fighting monsters. Using the proper tools to easily take down a monster feels great and makes you feel more invested in the world as you have to research these creatures in your bestiary to know their weaknesses.
Going above and beyond to take on an extra tough enemy or a monster clearly above your level although feels great at first, it’s quickly brought down when the experience gained is very little and the loot isn’t something that equates the struggle you went through. It’s just a bit disappointing that you’re encouraged to research monsters and exploit weaknesses and when you do just that, the rewards just don’t reflect that.
There’s also one quirk with dialogue as well that’s honestly more funny than terrible, but the way it happened just made it more memorable to me.
This instance is going to a wake party with Yennefer in Skellige. She’ll comment on how she likes that Geralt is growing out a beard. Now if Geralt does have a beard in this instance, it makes sense, however if Geralt is clean shaven, Yennefer will still make the comment which I always found that to be a funny little programming quirk. It’s obvious that this response was to happen when Geralt has a beard and the programming within the game was supposed to read that. There are a couple of instances that NPCs will react to Geralt’s appearance and the reaction is appropriate in those moments. But the beard moment, always brings out a chuckle.
Granted for a game as massive as Witcher III to only have a few minor issues, it’s actually rather impressive. However, I will admit that it has been four years since it’s initial release and there might have been more bugs then, but now it’s a mostly smooth experience.
As mentioned in a previous post, I do refer back to this game a lot for professional research as well. CD Projekt Red used a branching writing program known as Articy Draft, a program I use in my day job. I’ll do different decisions, I’ll change the order of when I do quests and just imagine how the branching dialogue looked within Articy and the type of variables used to determine how certain events play out.
One also can’t talk about Witcher III without mentioning Gwent, what is perhaps one of the best mini-games within a game since Final Fantasy VIII’s Triple Triad. Gwent is an easy to learn, but tough to master card game at the start. It’s tough at first as Geralt doesn’t have many cards at his disposal, but once you finally get a win, the dam starts to break little by little. Geralt will begin winning more powerful cards that can be added to his deck. Eventually it does get to a point where everyone becomes a bit easy to defeat as you gain more powerful cards and build your deck for effective strategies. Regardless it’s a game within a game that you can easily get lost in.
Witcher III also set what many gamers regard as the “Golden Standard” for how DLC should be treated. Witcher III includes 16 free DLC additions ranging from additional quests, items, additional costumes, and Gwent cards. Then there’s the two paid DLC expansions, Heart of Stone and Blood and Wine, which involves two new stories.
Both of these expansions also add additional gameplay mechanics to make Geralt stronger, which you will need to take advantage of for Blood and Wine as monsters and enemies in that particular expansion are a bit tougher than in the main game and Heart of Stone.
Blood and Wine also contains my favorite quest in the entire game. The quest is called “Paperchase” and it’s hilarious. Something about a legendary monster slayer still having to adhere to the bureaucracy of a bank to get a reward for saving a guy years ago is just amazing. It shows that not all great quests have to involve you having an encounter that puts you on the edge of your seat.
The Witcher III is a game that deserves the praise and reception it has received. It has made a mark on the RPG genre that many developers are taking note and implementing in their games. The most famous case being Ubisoft with the Assassin’s Creed series by following a similar dialogue decision based structure and having side quests impact the main story and vice versa. This is a game that has earned its status as a modern classic, which I’m sure will keep that status for a very long time.
As I’m sure it’s no surprise to anyone on Tumblr or any denizen of the internet, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt receives a 5 out 5
So far it’s been quite an interesting two years on this site. Frankly, I expected to just be a reviewer that would continuously scream into the void. To my surprise, I’ve had quite a few of you that like and share my posts adding more to the conversation whether you agree or disagree. I’ve also recently passed the 50 reviews milestone as well so the 50 and the two year mark happened rather quickly!
Here’s to the march on getting to 100 reviews...at some point!

Culpa, Spirit, Pinnacle, Zero, Cirice, Ritual, Secular, Crucified, Macabre!
HI thanks for blessing me with such a bunch of questions & sorry it took me ages to answer! but here i finally am with quite a bit of rambling:
Culpa - When did you first discover Ghost?
tbh i wish i knew!! i literally have no recollection when exactly it was and it bothers me a bit, but roughly it was some time after the release of infestissumam and before meliora. at first i always listened only to year zero & per aspera ad inferi lmao because i thought they were their best songs at the time and i wasn’t particularly interested in getting into any of the others, but i think it was in late 2015 when someone in my spoken communication class made an informal speech about ghost when i was like “oh yeah right this band is cool i should listen to them more” and did just that.
Spirit - What’s your favorite Ghost song?
i already answered this once but since i have loads of favorites i’m just gonna tell you another one!! another fave of mine is mummy dust, although one key contributing factor to me liking it so much is its placement on the album, which is to say that i probably wouldn’t enjoy it quite as much if i heard it separately but that it is one of the high points on meliora for me. i love how it contrasts he is that comes before it with its hard riffs, driving rhythm and distorted vocals/growls, but also how it ends in a devout, mysterious unresolved suspended chord that brings the listener back to a mood strikingly similar to the one in he is but only slightly darker and more ominous!! the ending is the coolest thing tbh…
Pinnacle - What’s your favorite Ghost album?
meliora is my favorite, and i already waxed poetic about it here!
Zero - Have you been to one of their concerts?
not yet!!!! i am seeing them in stockholm next february though, which is tremendously exciting. i would have gone to see their helsinki show last year but i only heard about it afterwards which was tragic to say the least. i’m sad i never got to see papa iii live but i can live with that
Cirice - Have you written/read or have stumbled upon Ghost fanfiction?
i have read some! i really like to read different people’s takes on expanding on and filling the blanks of the official lore, since it is a bit scarce. (i don’t mind a bit of porn once in a while either)
Ritual - Do you own any merch?
i don’t, all i have is their CDs! i’ve been considering getting the plaguebringer t-shirt for a while now though since i’m pretty into band t-shirts in general and that one is my favorite ghost shirt so far but i’m hesitating slightly because i’m not entirely sure if it would fit with my overall style… like i fear that instead of looking like it suits me it would look more like “ooh look at them trying to be edgy” or something lmao…
Secular - What’s your favorite Ghost MV?
i really, like really REALLY love rats!! i live for cardi c getting funky in the corpse-laden, rat-infested streets. there is a dark comedy in him jumping and skipping around among all that death and disease like a macabre mockery of gene kelly and i love it. the dancing is so camp and over-the-top and that’s what i’m all about in life tbh. the vid is not all fun and games though, which is another reason i like it –i also love how ominous the ending is, with copia sitting on his pale white horse with red growing eyes, and how it totally feels like foreshadowing an upcoming change in his character.
Crucified - What was the song that introduced you to Ghost?
year zero! i have literally no idea when or where it was that i first heard it but what i DO remember is how i felt when i first heard it and Boy it was an experience. i actually wrote a post about it here
Macabre - Do you enjoy the interviews and the lore, or do you like sticking to just the music?
i absolutely adore the interviews, and tbh i am pretty much obsessed with all the swedish interviews especially. maybe it has something to do with the fact that i am a linguist, but there’s just something about hearing/reading people expressing themselves in their native language that’s really captivating to me – provided i can understand said language of course. but like, tobias comes across as a super sincere and heartfelt person in any language, but when i listen to him speaking in the sommar on p1 or värvet podcasts for example i feel like i’m really Feeling it.
as for the lore – hell fucking yeah.
[send me ghost asks!]

Cosplacon 2017 Con Report
Okay, so, I’ve just spent the last few days at Cosplacon.  It’s a fairly small event (compared to the likes of Dragoncon, etc), but it is so much fun.  Maybe because it’s so small, it has a really great atmosphere.  It’s also pretty much the only con in town, as it were, unless you want to make the trip out to either Saint Louis or Kansas City.  (Mind you, there were attendees who came from Topeka, which is realy impressive.)  This is my third year attending this con (any con, in fact), and the first time I’d stayed for the whole thing.
DAY ONE
Thursday was interesting, because (as some may know) I have been gearing up for a move, and that move took place on Thursday morning.  So, I’d spent the first half of the week frantically packing and boxing and getting things ready, and Thursday morning was spent trying to get stuff loaded into the new place so my parents would have less to do when the time came to unpack.  (Yes, i live with and help take care of my parents, who are both disabled to one degree or another.  They encouraged me to attend the con, because I pretty much spend all my time working either at my job or at home, and need a break to do something for myself.)  So, when the time came to leave, I was sweaty and dirty and desperate for a cold shower.  (June in Missouri is no fun.)  Once I was feeling relatively human again (though still kinda tired) I donned my Rocket grunt costume from last year and joined the festivities.
The con has a Pokemon League (strictly for fun, not an official Pokemon Company thing), and I registered my team for that.  It’s pretty cool.  The folks running it do it as a labor of love, and it really shows.  Not only do they spend their own money printing trainer cards and making gym badges, they created a region with lore and even a *soundtrack*.  I tried to do the “story mode” challenge, but got flattened by the Flying-Type leader in my second match, so then it just became trying to get as many badges as possible.  I’m not super knowledgable when it comes to competitive play, because I don’t really do much of that sort of thing, but I did put together a pretty solid team.  I might do a separate post about that later.  Maybe.  Meh.
Every year, the con also does a sort of scavenger hunt, with little stuff scattered throughout the hotel.  Collect all these “achievements” and you win...something.  I think it’s a pass for next year.  I probably could have done it this year, but I chose to spend most of my time between specific events hanging out with the Pokemon League crew.  Some of the achievements included finding the key to the TARDIS, Facehugger eggs, and the stones from the Fifth Element.  (This being the fifth year of the con, there was a Fifth Element theme.)
There weren’t a ton of events that first night, but I did catch the Iron Cosplay competition (teams are given a collection of random pieces out of which to create a costume and character backstory), which was a lot of fun.  I kind of wished I could have attended some of the panels hosted by the Egg Sisters on Prosthetics and Make-up, because I think that kind of thing is really fascinating, and they are amazing at it.  I didn’t rally go much into the game room, where there were Smash Bros tournaments and things like that.  Most of the gaming stuff I did was just playing Pokemon.  After Iron Cosplay was the Welcome Party, which was also a lot of fun.  After that, I hit the sack.  There’s usually some kind of dance party or other kind of late night hootenanny, but I’d been up since 5 am and was exhausted.
Turns out that would be a running theme.  Not only were the people in the next room pretty rowdy (I think they were teenagers out on their own for the first time), but my room was directly adjacent to one of the maintenance/cleaning closets, so I got to hear all the banging and thumping of the door and housekeeping carts.
As a sidenote: If a hotel room door is locked, STOP TRYING TO GET IN.  Also?  Instructions for the damn shower would be nice.
DAY TWO
After waking up WAY too early, I finish up my Janky McCree cosplay (which I should have gotten a picture of before it all fell apart) I headed down to the League and did a bit of battling before leaving for the Q&A with Eric Stuart--the voice actor for James and Brock of Pokemon, among others.  It was enjoyable and informational, but I think a lot of us kinda blanked when the opportunity arose to ask questions, and the majority of questions came from the same handful of people.  He struck me as a really cool guy, though.
I would have liked to go to the Marvel vs DC Round Table or the panel on samurai swords by Samurai Dan, , but I opted to go to the Q&A instead.,  That happened a lot.  Like, a lot of the events that I wanted to attend were scheduled at the same time, while other times, there were stretches where nothing really jumped out and said COME TO ME.  I kinda wanted to go to the Cosplay Runway, which was a non-competitive costume parade of sorts, but I wasn’t too happy with my McCree cosplay and also wanted to keep challenging gym leaders.  I definitely wanted to go to the Harry Potter round table, but things with the Pokemon League took longer than expected, and I missed half of it.  That was okay, though, because I still had fun.  And if you’re enjoying what you’re doing, that’s what’s important, right?  Also, it’s important to schedule time for things like food.  So you don’t, like, die.
That even was the cosplay skits.  They’re usually good, but this year, they were AWESOME.  I tried recording everything, but I did end up missing a couple because I had to run up to my room and grab my phone charger.  I did miss a dance number I hope someone recorded and will post to youtube or something, but the other skit, I wasn’t too upset about missing, mostly because the guy doing it was a creep who’d caused problems with the League crew, and wouldn’t have been very entertaining anyway.  There were dance numbers, musical performances, short dramatic skits, a HILARIOUS Gothic Lolita presentation (”SQUAT!!! Wigglewigglewigglewiggle!  CRRRRRROOOOUUUCH!!!”) and a couple of girls tossing inventive shade at each other, which I kept expecting to turn into a number from Wicked.  Normally, the winner of the skit competition wins a pass for next year, but there were so many awesome skits, the judges decided to award one to everybody (including that creepy guy, but they couldn’t very well say “Everyone but you).
Following that was a really fun Avatar: The Last Airbender discussion.  I kiiiinda wanted to go to the Fifth Element Ball afterwards, but I was feeling pretty shy about jumping into a dance party, seeing as I dance like a parody of a white guy, so I hung out with the League and got some food.
Then, so friends of mine from work showed up and we wondered about a bit, taking in the sights before deciding to go to the drag show, which was a lot of fun.  I did have to explain to my friends what a drag king was.  They had an intermission, and I kinda wanted to stay for the rest, and I kinda wanted to go do karaoke, but it was near midnight already and I was bushed.  So, I said goodnight and tied again to get some sleep, getting only nominal success.
DAY THREE
I finished up my Guzma costume after getting Not Enough Sleep.  By the way, I nearly blinded myself twice putting on eyeliner.  There wasn’t a whole lot grabbing my attention as far as morning events, but I did have fun battling with other Pokemon trainers and just walking about taking pictures and even getting my picture taken.  I was really bummed, though, that a lot of the attendees who did Team Skull grunt cosplays weren’t doing them that day, because I would have LOVED to get a picture with as many Team Skull peeps as possible.  I did attend a need panel on digital art, hosted by the head of the con, Rodney.
After that was a Pokemon Speed Training tournament.  basically, each person was traded three random level one pokemon and we were given an hour to train them up as much as possible, before facing each other in 3v3 battles. I ended up with a Klefki, a Corsola and a standard Grimer.  i wasn’t too terribly happy, but I figured I would give it a shot.  (Again, I’m not a super competitive player, but even I knew Corsola wasn’t super viable for competition.)  And I actually managed to get to the final two!  Unfortunately, my opponent had a well trained Golem and one-shotted everyone on my team with Earthquake.  But I had fun!
Again, not a whole lot scheduled after that which grabbed my attention, so, more hanging out before heading in to the Cosplay Royale.  The Cosplay Royal is the big cosplay competition, with professional judges and everything.  There were some AWESOME cosplays in this one, though not as many entrants as there were last year, if i’m remembering things correctly.  But the quality of the costumes were so good, they added a couple categories.
After that, Eric Stuart gave an acoustic concert, and I got a signed CD.  I’m always a little leery when someone says they’re Also A Musician, because a LOT of people are Also A Musician, but he was actually really good.  There was one slightly obnoxious guy who tended to talk through the performance, and not super quietly, either.  After that, I wanted to go to the Dance Party or even the Cosplay Burlesque, but I reeeally needed food and sleep.  Which Brings us to...
DAY FOUR.
Today!  I got a little more sleep this morning, despite there being a HUGE thunderstorm crashing around outside.  No cosplay today, just dressing comfortably.  Everyone was pretty low-energy today compared to the previous few days.  I think there were a lot of hangovers, and the accumulative effects of Not Enough Sleep.  Even Rodney, the head of the con, aka “The Green Flash”, was subdued.  There was the Father’s Day brunch and the Pokemon Carnival, where everyone got the chance to battle the League again, but not a lot else.  Most people were gearing up to leave before checkout at 11.  I did actually get all eight badges, but didn’t succeed in challenging the elite four.  Then came the closing ceremony, after which people basically headed out.  The hotel is pretty empty right now, and I enjoyed a nice long nap.  I will probably sleep better tonight and be in a pretty good state when I leave tomorrow, which is good, because I still have basically unpack all my crap at the new house.
