Do you remember when you were a child, wearing a blanket on your grandma's lap, listening to stories by the fire. The little blankets in my childhood memories always give me safety and warmth, so they are always a good part of people's memories. There are many uses of blankets, not just limited to blankets, rugs, sofa blankets, shawls, etc. Oh, it is all up to you to be creative!
In fact, in addition to the above uses, there is a special blanket use is cotton tablecloth. You can use the blanket as a cotton tablecloth, there will be a different kind of surprise. If you love your home, you can instantly refresh your warm home with a unique style in the easiest and most economical way. In today's advocating environmentalism and unique taste, a piece of cotton tablecloth that can be recycled, or retro or simple, is definitely the first choice for not only anti-fouling, but also filling your dining table with a strong literary style.
Next, I will introduce the weaving process of the blanket
Blanket weaving material: nylon, value diameter (PA6, PA66), polyester (PET)
Nylon is divided into heald, filament, weft and staple.
Heddles are commonly used: φ0-18, φ02, etc. Heddles are mainly used for weaving the bottom net of the warp and weft of the bottom net wool.
Filament yarn is mainly used for warp and weft weaving base fabric of non-weft felt.
Weft: φ0-2, φ03, φ0-34, φ0-35, etc.
The short fiber is usually expressed in denier due to its small diameter. The short fiber is carded to form flock, which is laid on the base fabric or bottom wire and needled by a needle punching machine to become a papermaking felt.
Classification of papermaking felts
Papermaking felts are divided into non-weft felts, ordinary felts (BOB), bottom mesh felts (BOM)
The characteristics of the bottom wire felt: it has good dehydration performance, high wear resistance, suitable for paper machines of various speeds, and has a long service life. Disadvantages: poor folding resistance.
Bottom mesh blankets include single-layer bottom mesh blankets, double-layer bottom mesh blankets, and triple-layer bottom mesh blankets (ie, laminated blankets or composite bottom mesh blankets).
Laid felts and ordinary felts are generally suitable for ordinary low-speed paper machines.
Single-layer and double-layer bottom wire felts are also suitable for ordinary low-speed paper machines but have a longer service life than ordinary felts.
Three layers. (Composite bottom wire felt) is suitable for paper machines with medium and high speed, wide door and high line pressure.
Blanket weaving process
Staple fiber → blending wool → carding and laying → heald → plying → warping → needling → shaping (far infrared or oil heat) → weaving, inserting (setting) → weft (plying) → roll inspection → packing → entering library → factory
Felts with special requirements also need to be chemically treated to increase the stain resistance or abrasion resistance of the felt.
The warp threads used for weaving generally have quadruple strands (02*4) and six strands (0.2x6). The diameter of the warp is generally φ0.2.
Weft - generally has a single-strand diameter of φ03 or φ0.35, double-strand (single φ0.35), and quadruple strands (single φ0.2).
Weaving (weaving the bottom net into a loop through the insert), if the bottom net woven by the endless loom does not need the insert.
The machinery for making papermaking felts usually includes: and wool machine, carding machine, pre-punching machine, plying machine, wefting machine, warping machine, main needling machine, setting machine (external infrared or oil heat).
Looms are divided into ordinary looms, heavy-duty looms and circular looms.
Acupuncture machines are divided into single-needle area, double-needle area and three-needle area acupuncture machines.

ugh somehow when i was dividing the roving for that sock yarn into thirds, i completely messed up. i remember thinking i was being overly meticulous about it, too. but the z spun single was about two thirds the length of both s spun singles, so i ended up with one big traditional 3 ply of 186 yards, one small traditional 3 ply of 62 yards, and then one small 2 ply of 126 yards.
in retrospect i really should have just broken into the second color of this roving and spun enough to keep going with a 3 ply. that would have made a cool marled yarn that i could have used for the heel, toe, and cuff. but i am operating on about 25% brain capacity today, so i just did what i always do with leftovers from traditional 3 ply (which is just two ply them and throw them in the scrap yarn bucket). which i now regret because it was 126 yards.

A Chance Encounter
The latest installment in Le Tricoteur. With the plagiarism issues that are going on right now, I would most definitely like to acknowledge that this was inspired by a random comment made by @missclairebelle
Previously
As luck would have it, Ian was very grateful that he had gone to see his aunt and uncle so soon. The very next morning, on his way to open up the shop, he stopped in at the café down the street to grab a muffin and some tea. (He had a kettle and a selection of mugs and tea at the shop of course, but he found that his mornings went more smoothly if he didn’t need to wait until he was awake enough to make tea before he got any tea.) As his glance passed over the attached co-working space, he noticed Rachel Hunter sitting there, engrossed in something on her laptop screen. He stood for a minute, watching her and wondering if he should go and say hello, but decided that she wouldn’t appreciate an interruption when she was busy, especially from someone she didn’t really know.
As Ian was paying for his order, he realised there was someone standing behind him. When he turned to look, he saw that Rachel Hunter was standing behind him, with a scone and a mug that she had filled at the self-serve station.
“Linda, can you add those on too?” he asked, gesturing at the items in Ms. Hunter’s hands. The barista nodded and put everything through. Ian tapped his card and turned around, only for Ms Hunter to step up to the counter. “I’ll take a pay-it-forward token then, thank you.” After she paid, Ms Hunter took the little chit, which could be redeemed for a hot drink and basic pastry, and tossed it into the basket by the door, where they were available for people who needed them.
“Oh, I wasn’t trying to make you do that. I was intending the coffee more as a ‘Welcome to Inverness’ gift.” In a rush, Ian added, “And, let me assure you, that sounded a lot less creepy before I said it. Let me explain how I’m not hunting down information about you behind your back. I was visiting with my Auntie Claire last night, and she works with your brother, and told me that you and he had just moved.” Technically all true. He would just not mention the fact that she had been the point of the visit rather than just another customer who came up in conversation. “She’s the one who recommended the store to him,” he added desperately as Ms Hunter’s face lit up with an avid interest.
“Your aunt is Ms. Beauchamp-Fraser? She’s why Denny wanted to take this placement in the first place. He’s been very impressed with her. He says she’s demanding, but really helpful, and he’s learning a lot. And she’s been very helpful with little bits of advice like about your store.”
Ian grinned. “That sounds like her. I was more than a little scared of her when I was young, but she’s actually quite supportive and helpful. She’s scary-smart, but never expects you to be too. Even though I just know yarn, and not surgery like her, the only time she’s ever intentionally done something that makes me feel stupid, was when I was actually being quite stupid.”
“Well, your yarn knowledge is certainly not a “just”. You know more than enough to leave me behind. Speaking of which, I have a note from my brother that he tells me you will be able to decipher, saying what he wants in the way of yarn. So you’ll be seeing me by the store again at some point. I had originally planned on taking a break when I finished this report, but that went faster than expected, and it’s too early now. I’m not very good at remembering to take breaks in the middle of things, so we’ll see how when I surface again.”
Ian laughed. “I fully understand getting immersed in a task. If you want to give me the note, I can try and pick something that matches it in a grey, heathered, British wool yarn. That way when you do come in it won’t take you as long.”
“Oh, that’s really kind of you. But I’ve also got instructions to go through that binder of charity projects you have and pick something out for him first.”
“Well… if that’s all you’d be doing, why don’t you come over to the shop with me now? You can look through the binder while I get ready to open? If I know what pattern, I can still bundle things together for a quick transaction.”
Ms Hunter looked thoughtful at this. “That would actually be really convenient, if you’re sure it’s not too much bother. I could use a bit of a change of scenery.”
Ian gave her an easy grin. “No problem. I’ll head over now, but I assume you need to pack up? I’ll leave the door open for you. If it’s locked when you get there, I just forgot. Give the shop a ring and I’ll let you in.”
Unsurprisingly, Ian did indeed forget to leave the door open. When Ms Hunter called he got the door for her with an apology, which she brushed off. “You’re already interrupting your routine for me, I’m not expecting you to be able to easily change something you do that often.” She was briefly distracted by the cabled keyhole scarf on the gift display, but followed Ian into the store quickly enough when he got her attention.
Ian showed her the table at the back where he had already put the binder for her. He explained that it was approximately sorted by project complexity, and how to check the recommended skill level, and went back to his opening routine. Once he turned the computer on, he ducked into the washroom. While he was in there, Rachel called through the door.
“I’m sorry, I just got a call, I have to run back. I’ve marked the pattern I was interested in, and left you the note. Thank you again, I’ll be back probably sometime in the afternoon.”
When Ian had a chance to look at the binder, he noticed that there were two patterns marked. One was with a business card that she had probably grabbed from the desk, and the other had the note from her brother. Presumably she wanted the one with the business card, but he decided to grab supplies for both anyhow. He looked at the note to see what her brother was interested in. Fortunately either Ms. Hunter had written it herself, or her brother had surprisingly good handwriting for someone with a medical degree.
A basic yarn in a 4 to 10-ply weight – no bouclé, nothing with a halo, no excessive twist. Washable is probably best. 100% wool, maybe a small amount of acrylic or nylon blended in, nothing fancy Pick up appropriate needles. If tension matters, pick up recommended and one size smaller (already have old number 9’s, but replacing those wouldn’t be a bad thing)
Ian checked the two projects that were marked. The first one was just a request from the local animal shelter for squares to make into blankets. Any weight of yarn would work, but there were instructions given for 10-ply, so he grabbed a hank of that. The other project was a request for hats for young adults who had aged out of foster care, and came with a few suggested patterns, any of which could be made with yarn that met the specifications. He picked one of the patterns at random, and bundled the pattern, yarn and needles for each project in its own bag, then put the two bags behind the counter with a sticky note labelled “Rachel Hunter”, and left it there while he went about his day.
It was reasonably late in the afternoon, around what Ian was vaguely aware was quitting time for people who worked office jobs, before Ms. Hunter came back. He was busy with another customer at the time, but he had scheduled Iona, his newest employee, for the afternoon, so while he regretted the loss of another chance to interact with her he knew that she was in good hands. Out of curiosity, at the next lull he asked Iona which of the projects had been the right one after all.
“Oh, was she supposed to pick one? I just rang everything in those bags through and she didn’t have any complaints.”
Ian gave himself a mental smack upside the head. He had been so looking forward to getting to see Ms. Hunter again that he hadn’t properly prepared for the case where someone other than him was helping. Oh well, presumably she would figure out her mistake and bring whichever one she didn’t want to the store. He could apologise then.

Building a Basic Suit Wardrobe
Most men will need at least one suit in their closet, but if you wear a suit every day, it can be a good idea to slowly build yourself up to a rotation of five or six. This gives your wardrobe some flexibility. Like shoes, suits benefit from having a day of rest before being worn again, so that the wrinkles can naturally fall out without a steam or press.
A fuller wardrobe also gives you a bit of wiggle room – you can get suits in seasonal fabrics, as well as have options in case one or two have to go to the tailor for repair. Let’s start with a basic work wardrobe and then discuss how to expand from there.
Building a Work Wardrobe
Men who need to wear a suit every day likely work in conservative environments. Which means they need conservative suits. Start with dark worsteds in unremarkable colors and patterns – solid navy or dark grey, or at least patterns subtle enough to resolve to a solid from a short distance.
An Armourer can lead you through the fabric selection process, but it’s helpful to also know your way around some basics.
Weight: Fabrics come in different weights, which are typically measured by grams or ounces per linear meter. Broadly speaking, cloths between 11 and 13 oz are considered mid-weight – anything below is lightweight; anything above heavyweight. Fabrics heavier than 18 oz are typically reserved for outerwear.
Depending on a number of factors, such as the fabric’s fiber and weave, mid-weight worsteds can be good starting places for your first or second suit. They will feel fine on all but the warmest of days, making them great for temperate climates or men who are just starting to build a wardrobe.
Colors and Patterns: Chalk and pinstriped suits can work for certain office environments, but call too much attention to themselves in others. If you’re unsure of the norms in your industry, you’ll never go wrong with a solid color in dark blue or charcoal. Don’t think they’re too simple. Quality tailoring is all in the cut, and conservative suits can be made to look different depending on your shirt, tie, and at times pocket square combination. The power of these fabrics is in their simple elegance and versatility.
For your third or fourth suit, consider medium gray, which can look particularly good in the mornings and afternoons (evening attire is generally better in darker colors). And for your fifth or sixth suit, you can add slightly more casual fabrics in small-scale herringbones or conservative black-and-white checks. These can be worn to the office on Fridays, to cocktail events, or formal holiday parties.
Specialty Suits: Depending on your climate and needs, you may also want to consider more specialized fabrics. A lighter weight, 9 to 10 oz fabric in an open weave or mohair blend will feel more comfortable in the summer months. When the weather is humid and hot, these allow your skin to breathe, making you feel cooler and drier.
When getting specialized spring/summer suits, consider their construction. Suits with less padding and structure inside will feel cooler than those with multiple layers of haircloth, canvas, and wadding. You’ll also want to get the jacket only partially lined, so that there’s even less material to trap heat against your body. A suit’s structure is just as important as its shell.
High-twist wools, such as our own 4-ply wool from Vitale Barberis Canonico (VBC) or Holland & Sherry’s Crispaire, are also good for travel suits. Yarns are made from twisted fibers, and by twisting the fibers one or two more turns, spinners can get a yarn that’s a bit stronger and naturally wrinkle resistant. Bring one of these along with you on a business trip and you won’t have to worry about the quality of the hotel’s pressing services.
Mid-weight worsteds can always be worn in the winter with an overcoat, but for something more specialized, considered heavier 14 to 16 oz flannel wools. They’re not only warmer, they also look more seasonal and stylish next to ancient madder ties. Additionally, heavier cloths tend to hang, drape, and keep their shape better than their lightweight counterparts, which is partially why you should aim for the heaviest fabrics you can wear in any season without feeling uncomfortable.
Expanding Beyond Work
Beyond the borders of an office environment are casual suits. If you have reason to wear suits on the weekends or for more relaxed occasions, consider a thornproof tweed for fall and winter. It has a certain rustic charm, but unlike some other tweeds, it’s robust enough to hold its shape as trousers. A brown patterned flannel, such as a glen plaid with a faint crimson overcheck, can also work wonderfully as a double-breasted and be worn with a rollneck.
Irish and Italian linens can be great for the spring and summer months. Generally speaking, heavier linens rumple more than they wrinkle, although they can also wear a little warmer. Consider them in such as tan, olive, and tobacco brown. Linen suits have an advantage in that the jacket and trousers can be easily broken into separates, allowing you to dress them down further when needed.
Every man should have at least two suits, likely one in dark blue and another in charcoal. This will cover him for those occasions where he needs to wear slightly formal clothing. If you need to wear a suit everyday to work, you’ll want to quickly expand that to a rotation of five or six. Anything beyond this will be about your particular needs – your climate, personality, and lifestyle. That’s the part that makes this process personal.

Depending on the type of clothing and the project, using different types of yarn in your project can turn out to be a perfect shot or sometimes even a disaster. Being avid knitters, our trigger-happy fingers always want to try out new things and especially any yarn that is easier to knit with.
Nylon blended yarn is one of the most popular choices amongst knitters when it comes to trying out new things. It is one such type of yarn which is either loved the most or hated the most. Either you are a nylon yarn person for life or you aren’t. There is no middle ground. Find out why Nylon Blended Yarn is such an interesting yarn for knitter/crocheters.
What is Nylon Blended Yarn?
Nylon is a man-made fabric made by synthesizing petroleum products. It is a lightweight, moisture wicking, breathable and one of the most durable fibers in the world. It is starch resistant, wrinkle resistant and shrink resistant. It is soft and dries quickly. Often, nylon is blended with fabrics that normally lack these qualities. Like one can guess, it is done to further enhance a certain fabric’s properties.
For example, natural yarn tends to be much less ‘ideal’ as compared to its synthetic counterparts. Solution? Blend with nylon or other man-made fibers while retaining the original fabric’s fit and finish but while giving it the strength, flexibility, stretch and other properties. Sometimes nylon is blended with other high-end fabrics to reduce costs.
Advantages of Nylon Blended Yarn for Knitting/Crocheting
It is common to wonder why blended yarns make any sense while knitting/crocheting because there are already so many different types of yarn that makes knitting a piece of cake. Here is a list of features that you might not have previously thought of:
Blending two yarns gives you the best of both worlds. When two different fabric types are mixed together, their best qualities get mixed as well. It means that you get to enjoy twice the brilliance in a single garment.
Some nylon blends like – wool/nylon, cashmere/nylon, mohair/nylon can be found at just a fraction of the prices as compared to purchasing its counterparts separately.
The end product is often a wonderfully blended mix of two fabrics and offers a whole new level of stitch definition, uniformity, characteristics and strength. Knitting and crocheting with high end fabrics becomes a walk around the park.
How to choose Nylon Blended Yarn?
In the world of knitting, you will find several compositions of nylon blended yarn. Make sure to read labels and the purpose of your project before you pull the trigger on a nylon blended skein. Read the fiber content (for example, 90% merino wool, 10% nylon), weight (between 1 ply and 14 ply) and total length in meters for the yarn.
Normally, nylon blended yarn is suitable for knitting/crocheting any projects you have in mind. From beginners to the most advanced knitters can be comfortable with nylon yarn without a stretch.
If you have any more questions regarding nylon blended yarn, write to us at [email protected] or call us on: 81466-25292.

12 Popular Materials used for making Hats
Do fabric names confuse you? Wondering which material suits you the most? This article will help you understand the popular materials or fabrics that are used for making Hats and their specialities. If you haven't read our previous blog on ‘HATS 101 - A guide to Hat Terms & Styles’, click here. We recommend reading it to get a complete understanding of the jargons associated with hats and their common styles.
Most Popular Fabrics used for hats
1. Cotton:
Lightweight, durable, soft and breathable, cotton is one of the most commonly used fabrics to make headwear. Unlike other fabrics, it is naturally hypoallergenic—this means cotton hats will not irritate the skin. When it comes to caps, it is often blended with other types of material such as polyester or rayon; this allows the product to be more durable.
Tumblr media
Style: 83-1273

2. Twill: Cotton Twill Hats are those made of cotton that is woven in parallel diagonal ribs unlike regular cotton’s plain weave.
Style: 18-772
3. Denim: Denim hats are made of cotton in twill weave of hard twisted ply yarns. The warp thread is indigo dyed and the weft/filling thread is white. These are thicker and stronger than regular cotton. It is  great for staying stylish in the sun.
Tumblr media
Style: 18-1249
4. Canvas
: Blank Canvas Hats are mostly cotton or linen blended with a polymer, in plain weave, or a tighter duck weave. It is a heavy-duty fabric.
Tumblr media
Style: 18-1287
5. Brushed cotton:
It is woven cotton that is brushed during the end stages of creation causing a rub against the fibers. This rub causes the fibers to raise and result in the fabric feeling soft to the touch.
Tumblr media
Style: 23-484
6. Wool:
Soft, Durable and slightly elastic, wool hats are comparable to cotton hats in terms of feel, but are usually denser and hold heat more effectively.
Tumblr media
7. Wool blend:
This is not 100% wool. It has one or more other fabrics blended into the wool; however, the warmth, integrity and appearance of the wool remain in a good blend.Style:
125-978
8. Linen:
It is a natural fiber that is extracted from the flax plant. If you are looking for another natural fiber other than cotton, linen should be suitable for you. Just like cotton, Linen is very breathable and soft.Hence linen hats are very comfortable to wear on hot days. They are also great for spring.
9. Straw:
Straw hats are fashionable in protecting your head from the fierce sun rays during summer. Straw is made of material from different plants such as bamboo, wheatgrass, etc. and sometimes from synthetic fibers.
Tumblr media
Style: 129-1016
10. Acrylic: These are synthetic fabrics that have a slightly coarser feel. Acrylic hats are durable, more resistant to stains and repelling liquid ("wicking"). It is also dense, making it the better synthetic for retaining heat.
Acrylic is a great choice for snapbacks and beanies since they retain shape very well and can be made into any thickness.
Tumblr media
Style: 82-625
11. Polyester: Polyester is one of the most popular materials used in making hats. It is a lighter and more breathable fabric than acrylic. The moisture-wicking property of polyester hats is excellent since it absorbs sweat from the skin, leaving it dry and comfortable.
Tumblr media
Style: 39-165
12. Nylon: These are used to make thin and lightweight caps suitable for hot summer days. One great thing about Nylon hats is that it does not shrink. Hence we don’t have to worry about our hats losing their original shape.
Tumblr media
Style: 18-782
Your Cap Fabric for Summer
During the hot and humid summer days you will want to wear clothing that is cool, breathable and water absorbent. Cotton hats and linen hats are usually your best bets.
It is better to avoid synthetic fibers such as polyester and polyester blends, since those tend to be water repellant and add to the sweaty discomfort during the day. Nylon hats and Acrylic hats should be avoided during summer since these fabrics make your skin prone to chafing when you sweat. Eventhough Denim hats are made from cotton, it is better to avoid it during summers since its sturdy and heavy weave makes it very uncomfortable to wear in the heat.
Your Cap Fabric for Winter
During the winter you should opt for materials that help you hold on to all the heat you can get and keep the moisture out. Wool and wool blends, fleece and polyester and polyester blends are the best choices for cold weather.
Thin materials like cotton and linen that let the cold in easily are to be avoided during winter.
We hope you have got a better understanding of the popular fabrics used to make hats now than before. That being said, if you are looking for an online store to buy cheap and wholesale hats, CapBargain is here for you. All our headwears can be screen printed or embroidered with logo, name, monogram or what you like, at low competitive costs.

Volcanic Orange
Volcanic Orange is based on one of the iconic colors of the Mini Cooper.
All Yarns are hand painted and kettle dyed. This means that every yarn can vary. If you need multiple yarns for a project, it is highly recommended that you purchase them at the same time so that they can come from the same dye lot. Some of the brighter colors can bleed, even though they have been rinsed multiple times, if you notice this run under cold water until water is clear.
Care: Hand wash in cold water and lay flat to dry
All products are created in a smoke free and pet friendly environment.
All photographs are used as inspiration for the yarn and are not owned by myself and belong to the franchise/character in which they represent. None of the yarns belong to or are affiliated with any of the fandoms, franchises, or characters for which it is inspired from.

An Overview of Hybrid Ring Spinning Methods- Juniper Publishers
Tumblr media
Introduction
Ring-spinning accounts for about two third of global long and short staple yarn production. The main reason for the dominance of ring-spinning over other spinning systems is its versatility in terms of yarn linear density and fibre type, and also the superior quality of ring-spun yarns over those produced by other systems. The main disadvantage of the spinning system is the yarn production rate due to limitations in spindle speed (productivity), high power consumption, traveller wear and heat generation and yarn tension [1].
The technology behing ring spinning remained largely unchanged for many years and most of the technical advances in ring spinning aimed at improving the performance of the existing technology. During the past decades, much attention was paid to improve the quality of ring spun yarns, and to achieve higher production rates. Consequently, many novel and effective spinning technologies have appeared, such as compact spinning, Siro-spinning, Solo-spinning, etc. [2].
The most critical part of the conventional ring spinning system is the zone between the nip line of the delivery rollers and the twisted end of the yarn which is called the “spinning triangle” In this zone, the fibers do not have any twist. The edge fibers in the spinning triangle make little or no contribution to the yarn tenacity and they lead to yarn hairiness. In compact spinning, the “spinning triangle” is eliminated and almost all fibers are incorporated into the yarn structure under the same tension. This results in an increasein yarn tenacity, yarn abrasion resistance and reduction in yarn hairiness. Pneumatic compact spinning is the most widely used compacting system which utilises the airflow force to condense the fibre bundle in the spinning triangle [3].
During the production of siro yarns two parallel rovings are introduced to the drafting region of conventional ring spinning system at a predetermined spacing. Rovings are then twisted together to form a two ply yarnthat yield improved yarn characteristics [4,5].
Solospinning is a wool spinning technology which provides the means to produce a singles yarn which change the yarn structure in such a way that the yarn is more similar to the plied yarn. During the Solospun yarn production a pair of rollers held in a bracket is clipped onto a conventional ring spinning frame. Each roller is positioned where it interacts with the emerging drafted fibre strand before twist insertion. The roller-fibre interaction subtly changes the structure of the yarn, which dramatically increases its abrasion resistance [6].
Invention and application of modified/new spinning methods to produce finer yarn with higher quality are still ongoing. Below some modified machine configurations based on ring spinning technology and properties of the yarns producedusing these systems areoutlined. It should however, be noted that of the presented techniques, not all have been launched as commercial machines.
The Solo-siro spinning system is a new system which can produce a distinctive yarn structure by combining Solo and Siro spun processes [7,8]. The results of studies on Solo-siro spun yarns showed that these yarns have a coherent self-locking structure in which fibre slippage is restricted. The tensile deformation of such a yarn is dominated by fibre break-age rather than by the weakening of the structure due to fibre slippage, thereby increasing yarn strength and elongation [9]. Utilising Solo-siro spinning system significatly improves worsted blended wool/polyester yarn hairinessand abrasion resistance.
The sirofil spun yarn is manufactured using a modified siro spinning technology, in which one of the siro elements is replaced by a filament [10,11]. Filament yarn and a staple fibre roving are fed separately at a fixed distance to the nip of the front drafting roller, as shown in (Figure 1). Filament and rovingform a tri-angular zone which is twisted together to build the sirofil yarn structure.
The sirofil spun technology manufactures the composite spun yarn with a helical form, where the filaments are twisted along with the longitudinal direction on the surface of the spun yarn.
Compact-Siro spinning technology is the combination of both Compact and Siro-spinning. It is conducted on a compact ring frame by feeding two rovingsat the same time. As compact spinning system minimises the size of the spinning triangle, the yarn properties are better in comparison to conventional ring yarns. Yarn properties further improve with compact siro system where features of both Com-pact and Siro Yarns are incorporated in the yarns produced using this system. Compared with compact single yarn, Compact-Siro spun yarn has a more com-pact and clear surface structure, a more uniform and smoother shape, and less hairiness [12,13]. Cross-section of Compact-Siro yarn is smoother and closer to being circular when compared with a sirospun yarn. Studies revealed that compact siroyarn spun on pneumatic compact spinning system has remarkable properties as compared to ring spun siro yarn. It has better evenness, lower number of imperfections and very low yarn hairiness with improved tensile properties [14–16].
In the Siro-system, the fiber strand is initially separated into double strands which causes fewer fibers in each strand compared with the one strand in conventional ring system. This might result in end breakages during production depending on the yarn count. In some cases, filaments are introduced between the strands right into the center of the resultant yarn to enhance the yarn strength. However, the filaments just reinforce strength of the resultant yarn instead of each spinning strands. A new concept of ring spinning was raised in an attempt to overcome this situation. The Embeddable and Locatable spinning (ELS) enables the location of filaments and staple strands in such a way that each staple strand could be reinforced by the filaments, and staple fibers could be well embedded into the resultant yarn structure [2]. Two filaments are located at the outer position and the two staple fiber strands are fed between them (Figure 2). It is theoretically proved that super-fine and multi colored yarns could be produced successfully; even staple fibers of low quality could be spun into a fine yarn of high qualities in this novel spinning system.
Jet-ring spinning technology combines the ring spinning andair-jet spinning technologies. In jetring, an air-jet is positioned between the yarn guide (pigtail) and the frontroller nip of the ring spinning machine. The air-jet creates upward swirlingof air against the direction of movement of the yarn. The yarn spun on ring spinning machine with a false twister presents a much more compact structure, which potentially contributes to the reduced yarn hairiness and increased yarn strength. In addition, a slight variation in the diameter of the modified yarn can be observed. For the bestperformance, parameters such as air pressure and the distancebetween the front roller nip and the air-jet, design parameters of the jet must be optimized [17,18].
Another application of the nozzle component is the Compactjet spinning system. In the Compact-jet system, the nozzle is mounted below the compacting unit. The Jetring and Compactjet spinning systems produce less hairy yarns with no adverse effect on the other yarn properties. The Compact-jet spinning system, com-pared with the Jetring spinning, is more effective in terms of yarn proper-ties [19,20].
Siro-jet machine configuration is also developed placing air jet nozzles in the siro spinning system between the front roller nip and yarn guide on the siro spinning machine [21,22]. The results suggest that when an air-jet nozzle is incorporated below the front roller nip, allowing the twisting yarn to pass through the nozzle, yarn hairiness can be significantly reduced.
The indispensable efforts for elevating the performance of the existing ring spinning technology and ring yarns result in the modification of ring spinning machines by adopting various spinning techniques on these machines. Studies show that yarns produced using hybridspinning methods based on ring spinning technology have primarily reduced yarn hairiness as well as higher abrasion resistance and, higher strength. The proposed techniques appear promising in improving the performance of ring spun yarns.

What you don't know about Super Soft Blue Gray Blanket

Course Project: Hermès Textiles
During my sophomore year at FIT I took a textiles course with Professor Suzanne Cora. It was a general study of textile materials and covered factors that produce successful fabrics in the marketplace, fibers, yarns, construction, color, and finish. The final project was a practical application in which I was to look at a range of products made for the same label or retailer by selecting two different types of garments, describing them, and analyze why the fabrics were used for particular garments. The purpose of this final project was to ensure we learned the textile knowledge essential to a fashion career. The following is my submission, for which I received an A and was encouraged to send to Hermès.
Within all industries companies find their niche and can become well known for their uniqueness. Some gain notoriety for innovation, while others become leaders in their industry for providing a great value. In the technology, Apple is known for being on the cutting edge and making products that merge form and function. Within the fashion industry, Hermès is one of the few companies unanimously agreed upon as a true purveyor of luxury and artisanal craftsmanship; this French company is the very epitome of elegance and opulence. For this reason I chose Hermès for my final project.
Founded in 1837 by Thierry Hermès, his namesake company began as a harness workshop dedicated to European nobleman. His work was so astonishing he won first prize in 1855 and 1867 at the Expositions Universelles in Paris. In 1880, under the helm of his son, Charles-Émile, the brand relocated to their present day flagship at 24 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. From there the company began selling their products retail and expanded into other equestrian related product categories. In the 1920s the brand added accessories and ready-to-wear under the leadership of Charles-Émile’s son, Émile-Maurice. Since then the company has become preeminently known for their silks and leathers, though all of their product offerings are of the highest quality available in the market.
Hermès is a very profitable company; even during the Great Recession (December 2007 - June 2009) Hermès posted gains in sales and profits. The key to their success is an unwavering dedication to their brand DNA and marketing strategy. The company’s target market are those with a net worth at least in the millions, though their narrowest target audience are billionaires. Their customer demands luxury, quality, artisanal craftsmanship, and exclusivity — and is willing to pay for it. The Hermès client is an individual with an appreciation for equestrianism, the arts, culture, and/or exotic destinations.
The company traditionally appealed to wealthy Caucasian women with ample disposable income to purchase their beautiful, yet conservative products.  When Jean-Louis Dumas, grandson of Émile-Maurice, took the reigns in the 1980s Hermès began to court younger women. He featured an advertisement of a woman in jeans wearing a scarf. In short: Dumas ushered in a new era at Hermès. No longer was the company just for the Kelly-toting 50 year old woman looking for a scarf to accessorize her Chanel suit. In the 21st century the company expanded their advertising efforts to 20 and 30 year olds in hopes of securing their positioning for future generations. To do this the company continues to partner with young photographers, producing graffiti print scarves, and more recently brining in designer Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski to inject a more modern feel into the ready-to-wear collection.
Though the themes of their campaign’s change from season to season the brand DNS remains constant: their equestrian heritage and a joie de vie. This season Hermès’ instagram was flooded with short videos for their men’s campaign centered around the flânerie — more or less a French dandy — that featured interesting graphic tricks and a very carefree, relaxed, and colorful mood. This goes back to the brand’s aim of holding the attention of younger generations with quirky advertisement campaigns.
The first garment I chose is a long belted cardigan. Featuring a three-quarter length sleeve this cardigan is perfect for the spring when temperatures tend to fluctuate. The belt adds a lovely touch allowing the wearer to decide between a more loose, almost sack like fit with the belt purely for form or even tied to the back. Alternatively, the wearer can use the belt to cinch the waist to create a nipped, hourglass silhouette. The buttons are black, which lend a streamlined and understated look. This is a knit featuring a plain weft knit construction at the body and a cable knit construction around the shoulders and back yoke, permitting more mobility and elasticity. This cardigan was fabricated in cotton and polyester. The cotton fibers appear to be two-ply allowing for a more durable product, without being too heavy so one can wear it comfortably in warmer weather. Given the manufacturer’s undying commitment to quality, this piece is likely yarn dyed. The only embellishment is the belt made of polyester with an authentic calfskin leather tip. This creation was birthed in Italy. To clean and care for this garment dry cleaning is the only recommended method. Based on the quality of fabric, which is likely a superior cotton fiber (possibly a supima cotton), the different methods of knitting (both a weft and cable knit), the artistry that went into making such a magnificent cardigan, along with the leather tipped belt, and the multiple construction methods used, this piece retails for $3,000 USD.
The fabric choice for the cardigan was a clever idea. Cotton is a very versatile fabric and easy to maintain. Known for it’s strength, comfort, and abrasion resistance this is a solid choice for a cardigan because it adds strength to the garment. Polyester, a filament or manmade fiber, is known for having very good strength and abrasion resilience — further reducing the chance of piling since it will rub against the body and chairs. This piece was most likely treated with a resin to prevent shrinkage when laundering as it is a natural fiber and therefore susceptible to shrink when cleaning. The only thing I would change is the fabrication of the belt, instead of constructing it of polyester it should have been made of leather or silk-polyester blend to further validate the price and elevate the design.
By using superior cotton to construct this cardigan Hermès stays true to its brand identity of providing only the very best. The hand of the of this garment is absolutely divine and would meet even the most discerning client’s expectations. In my opinion the garment does justify the price as it features are higher quality fabrics and there are a very limited number available worldwide.
The second item I chose is truly a work of art. It features both a knit and woven construction in one! Made of cashmere and silk, this piece is a part of a running tradition Hermès started of creating garments that feature both a woven and knit portion in the same design. From season to season the combination piece changes to keep the collection fresh. This secret style of combing two completely different fabrics into one item is heavily guarded. Featuring an asymmetrical open in the back, this shirt has minimal utilitarian use other than to look beautiful and make it’s wearer dazzle. This work of art features two natural fibers — silk and cashmere — combined as one. The bottom or silken half of the top is a silk twill that was screen printed and dip dyed. It is apparent the silk is printed as the design on the backside of the fabric is lighter than it is on the face of the fabric. The dip dying process leaves the silk extremely soft to the touch and acts as a counterbalance to the slight stiffening of the fabric after it has been screen printed. The cashmere and silk used to make this beautiful top are both natural fibers, though painstakingly harvested to ensure no damage is done to the length of the fibers before they are assembled to make this creation. As with all Hermès items, quality is most important so this garment was crafted in Italy, though designed in France. As neither the silk nor cashmere were given waterproof finishes or treated to be washable, it is required that this top only be cleaned by a professional dry cleaners. This piece retails for $2200.
I think the selection of fabrics is absolutely genius. As a brand that is well known for it’s silks, Hermès invented a way to take something for which they are renowned and use it in other clever ways. The silk used at the bottom rather than the top allows for an elegantly free-flowing and breezy drape and the luster is opulence personified. It is possible the silk was also treated with a Schreiner calendering as it has a low, soft luster. The top half of the shirt is in a plane weave cashmere. To justify the higher price point cashmere instead of wool serves as the perfect alternative. It is has a soft, luxurious hand, is absorbent, and has body temperature regulating properties to keep the wearer as comfortable as possible.  No better fabric combination could be selected for this piece because the combination is both sophisticated enough to permit night wear yet casual enough to wear during the day.
The use of the an actual scarf makes this garment appealing to women that may not have previously considered owning Hermès’ ready-to-wear. The use of cashmere with its butter soft hand and pleasing texture support the idea that the company only use the best materials to produce the best merchandise. The fabric choice would likely exceed the customer’s expectations as this is such a novelty piece that few would expect to see a creation so unique. Considering the cost of both their scarves and cashmere sweaters coupled with the secret construction techniques and its inherent exclusivity this retail price for this piece is definitely justified.

Best Bed Sheets
There are a lot of fabric choices when it comes to deciding which type of sheet will give you the best night’s sleep. Some people prefer the all-natural softness that a cotton sheet provides, while others love the moisture wicking benefits from a microfiber blend. Seasonal changes will also determine which type of sheet will go on your bed. We’ve put in over 47 hours of research to bring you the best bed sheets in each category.
A nice Supima cotton may be ideal in the summer, but switching over to flannel will give you additional warmth in the chilly winter months. Your choice will be made on the individual needs of each person, as well as the room where the sheets will be used. We have gone through the many choices out there to give you a breakdown of each fabric type and which sets are the best.

Brielle Sateen Bed Sheet Set
A luxurious and satiny sheet set, the Brielle Modal Sateen is a treat to sleep in. Best Sheets for Hot Weather
Mellanni MicroFiber Sheet Set
Microfiber sheets are not always the best sheet for everyday use because they can be thinner and are more likely to wear through. The Mellani brand stood out because it stayed in good form after a lot of testing. We were happy with this sheet set as it stayed in place and kept our testers cool in hot weather. Microfiber is not always our top choice in bedding – but if you want bedding that is best for hot weather, microfiber is the way to go, and Mellani does a great job of providing a solid product.

Best Percale Sheets
Mellanni 100% Cotton Bed Sheet Set
We loved the Mellani 100% Cotton Bed Sheet Set for their chemical free material (OEKO Tex Certified) and deep pockets. More than once we heard people say that they were “crisp and airy” which is a delightful way to describe the place where you will lay down after a long day. We found the same from our testing. Percale weave gives a nice smooth finish and these sheets got softer with each wash. The Mellani lifetime guarantee was a bonus.
How We Selected
To find the sheets that will give you not only a solid and comfortable snooze but will also last and are well made and durable is a daunting task because marketing has made things a bit confusing. When we started researching cotton bed sheets, we were overwhelmed by the terms that are on product descriptions, prices that don’t make sense, and promises of comfort that we weren’t sure we could trust.  When we did a quick compare of one set of sheets compared to the next set, and at a quick glance, we were so confused, we just wanted to take a nap.   But wait, which sheets did we want to nap on while we rested!?  So, we broke it down one factor at a time, and we looked at what was most important to get a good night’s sleep.
We knew we wanted comfortable bed sheets, which were machine washable.  We wanted to make sure that they were available in more than one size, and we kept it basic with our color palette.  Once we educated ourselves, we knew that thread count wasn’t as important as we first thought it was, but fiber and weave were.  First up was learning about cotton.  Well, there are a lot of cotton types, and those distinct types produce different cotton fibers.  Next, those fibers are woven into fabric types.  That’s where you start to hear about cotton/poly blends, linen, ticking, and so on.  When we looked at the weave of the fabric, we started to see descriptive types like percale, sateen, and Oxford.  Our test sets would be a Pima (or Supima) cotton fiber or an Egyptian cotton fiber.  Thread count is the number of threads that cross each other in a square inch of fabric.  The thread count would be at least 200 to 400, and the weave based on preference, but important to know. We looked at each sheet and assessed the construction, reviewing which type of cotton fiber and weave made up the cloth.  Then we looked at the thread count and warranty that the manufacturer would offer.
What Features Are Important
Fabric Types
Weave
The weave is the method that the two threads, or fibers, are interlaced to form a cloth.  How those two yarns are interlaced, and the ratio of warp to weft, determines the fabric or weave name that they are identified with.  The longitudinal threads are called the warp, and the lateral threads are the weft.  There are three basic weaves, plain weave, satin weave, or twill.  While the other options found in sheets are vast, we’ve focused on the few that we reviewed in our bed sheets, and not all.  Percale is known as the plain weave, which has a soft and smooth finish.  The tight weave is an excellent choice for people who tend to get hot when they sleep because of its light feel.  Some feel that this can be too tight and abrasive.  However, if you like a starched and crisp feel, a percale weave might suit you well.  Sateen, like its name implies, provides a more satin like weave.  This weave does provide a very smooth and silky texture, but because of its delicate nature, it tends to be the least durable of the more common bed sheet fabrics.  Sateen sheets are often the preference of people who get cold when they sleep as it is a heavier weave.
Thread Count
Thread count is the number of cotton threads (or yarns) per square inch.  The sweet spot, and considered the ideal for thread count is between 200-400 threads per inch.  We assumed, like most consumers, that a higher thread count means a better bed sheet.  We found that there is quite a bit of deception in the market by manufacturers who know that consumers are enough to look for thread count, but not wise to what exactly that means.  What happens is a manufacturer can claim a 750-thread count sheet by using shifty tactics on a 250-thread count sheet.  You believe that you are buying a top-notch product, when in fact, you are purchasing something on the lower end of the market.  An actual 250 thread count sheet is woven using 125 vertical threads and 125 horizontal threads.  But that phony 750 thread count sheet will also only have 125 vertical and 125 horizontal threads, and the difference is that they have taken three threads that are made of inferior quality and then woven or braided multiple strands to create one viable thread.  So now you have (likely) paid a much higher price, for a significantly lower standard of quality product.   This deceptive practice is known as plying.  Regulations have been put in place to stop this deception, but they can still be confusing.  You will see these regulations put on labeling regarding single ply and two-ply.  A single ply fabric will likely indicate a higher quality of the thread.  Often you can hold up a sheet to the light, and if you can see through it, you have a low thread count on your hands – regardless of what the label says.
So how do you know which bed sheets are a true higher thread count?  Price is a good indicator since looms are limited to 400 threads, and to achieve a legitimate thread count beyond that, you must use very fine yarns which are going to offer a softer sheet, but at a much higher cost to make.
Cotton Fiber
The fiber identifies the cotton length and origin.  What we learned from researching authoritative sites like Cotton Incorporated and the queen of domestic living herself, Martha Stewart, was that there multiple types of cotton and within that are multiple classifications of cotton.   A shorter fiber yarn or staple can produce rougher yarns and show signs of pilling on the surface of products made with it.  There are three types of cotton fiber.  American Upland Cotton is the shortest fiber or cotton strand and the least expensive; you will often see this identified by labels reading “100 percent cotton”.  The second type of fiber is Pima Cotton which a high quality and long staple cotton.  Pima achieves a beautiful and soft weave and twice as long as American Upland cotton.  The trademark of “Supima” is used to identify the world’s top percentage of American grown Pima cotton.  The Supima fibers are the extra-long staple cotton grown in the west and the southwestern United States.  Pima cotton identified as Supima is considered the same length and quality as Egyptian Cotton.  Pima does NOT mean Supima.  Often regarded as the best kind of cotton fiber, Egyptian Cotton is a long staple cotton grown in the Nile region of Egypt.
Cotton is derived from a plant grown worldwide and is the soft and white substance that grows around the seeds of the cotton plant. This fibrous substance is transformed by spinning into a textile fiber or thread that is used in countless materials. It is also a top choice for clothing and home accessories.
Cotton Types
Cotton Origin Quality American Upland Cotton Grown in United States Low to Average Grade Pima Cotton Grown Worldwide Average to High Grade Supima Cotton United States Superior Quality Egyptian Cotton Grown in Egypt Superior Quality
Bamboo
Bamboo as a fabric used for sheets has been increasingly popular each year, and there are four varieties of this material that are available. These cellulose fibers are extracted from natural bamboo but are very different. Generally, it is a rayon fabric made with those fibers.
Microfiber
Microfiber fabric is just what it sounds like – extremely fine (micro) fibers of woven together. These synthetic fibers are smaller than a strand of silk and are commonly made of polyester and nylon, which is ideal for wicking away moisture.

Cariloha Bamboo Sheet Set

The Cariloha bamboo sheet set won our most comfortable sheet set honor because we were convinced that we loved cotton until we tried them. The moisture wicking and breathable bamboo fabric gave us a softness we love, and as we learned, a 3-degree temperature difference than the standard cotton sheet. We liked the features on this fabric like how it repelled odors and allergens. The softness also seems to increase with each wash. A real winner with our team.

eLuxurySupply is a United States Veteran Owned and Operated company with their headquarters located in Evansville, Indiana.  They’ve worked hard to provide a standard of product that stands out against the knockoffs and sub par products, and these sheets are a great indication of that.  We were happy to see that they indicated that they were single-ply and at 1000 thread count, the sateen weave provides a solid, super thick,  and quality product.  The fitted sheets come with elastic around the entire sheet for a better fit.Their customer service was stellar, and any customer issues are immediately addressed – and often with a handwritten note from the company’s founder.  While these sheets are at the high end of our budget, they are thicker and held up to wash after wash.  Most of their customers are repeat business, and what spoke to us was when we looked into people who either had a bad review or initial experience and were “converted” by eLuxurySupply handling the situation and therefore given a second chance.  A great company to work with if a problem arises from your purchase.
LinenSpa Premium Italian Sheets

The LinenSpa set of sheets was enticing because we wanted to know if sheets specifically made in Italy were that much different.  As it turns out, there is one difference, and it is in the size of the pillow cases! Not a big deal and they are larger rather than smaller, which would be a problem. Not as thick as the eLuxurySupply sheets, but well-made and beautiful detail. We were also wondering how a percale would feel, and these were fantastic and smooth. Very soft to the touch. The only downside was that they recommend line drying.  A tough thing to do when you live in a small apartment or don’t have access to an outside area.

Known for its solid and classic styles, Lands’ End provides you with the basic and does them well. We liked the no iron feature found in these sheets, and we also were delighted to try a Supima cotton in comparison with Egyptian cotton. The Supima provides a high luxury feel with a durability we liked. These sheets are processed with a finishing treatment that gives a wrinkle free finish for up to 50 launderings – an excellent feature for making up a guest room bed when you want to impress!

The fitted sheet is designed with elastic throughout the entire hem. You can choose from eight color options and six sizing options. The fit will accommodate a 15-inch mattress. Washing did not increase pilling and while some found that these sheets were more wrinkle prone, the general consensus was that they would be like most sheets, and not wrinkle if washing instructions were followed.

Brielle Sateen Bed Sheet Set

The Brielle sheet set is a gorgeous set, and the sateen weave makes them feel like satin. This makes them a luxurious treat to make up your bed with for those nights when you need a treat, or if you want to make your guests feel special. Thread count wasn’t available, but the satin sheen was where we found them to be unique. Some users found them to be warm, but most found the satin feel cooling. They did not pill after washing.
Mellanni MicroFiber Sheet Set

Microfiber sheets can wear a little quicker than most cotton sheets and are often thinner in the first place. While microfiber sheets are not our preferred overall top pick for a sheet fabric, they are great for people who tend to get hot when sleeping or if they sweat a lot. This Mellani design has the most color choices available that we could find, coming in at 35 options with seven sizes as well. The fitted sheet is designed with elastic all around, and the four-piece set is covered by the Mellani lifetime guarantee.

These 100% cotton sheets are a crisp and light sheet with deep 16-inch pockets, which were liked by the customers who tried them. This allowed them to fit pillow top mattresses without any problem. Moreover, Mellani offers their lifetime guarantee if you are not satisfied with your purchase.

The Chateau Home Hotel Collection provides a good set of sheets for the money. We were impressed with the addition of a Victorian Faggoting Hem Stitch which gives a gorgeous look, and these sheets were softer and softer with each wash. We couldn’t find any information on a warranty or what the customer support would be if we had an issue.

Supima is such a great option because it gives you a super soft sheet without the high cost of an Egyptian cotton. We were impressed with the addition of a Victorian Faggoting Hem Stitch which gives a gorgeous look, and these sheets were softer and softer with each wash.
Conclusion
When looking for sheets, your preference will be based first on the fabric type. For example, if you choose cotton, make sure the description has the words Pima, Supima, or Egyptian cotton in it if you are looking for a higher quality sheet. With all sheets, do not be fooled by a high thread count. A high-quality fiber will ensure that you have a higher quality sheet. Care for your sheets according to the manufacturer’s instructions, and wash them regularly for a long-lasting run with your beloved bed time partner!
