Warnings: Angst, panic attack
You were peacefully asleep wrapped up in Angel’s arms, your back pressed against his chest feeling the warmth radiate off him and through your body. You had only been seeing Angel for a few months now and you were head over heels in love. The spark was instant between you two. The honeymoon phase felt like it could last forever and because of this the two of you spent more time together than apart. At this point you didn’t even know why you were paying for a place of your own when you spent most nights at his.
The buzzing of a cell woke you up. Slipping your arm out from under his hold you reached over grabbing your cell off the nightstand. Your screen was blank, groaning you set it down and twisted yourself around in Angel’s grip so you were now facing him. His head snuggled into your chest pulling you closer to him as he started to wake but didn’t want to get up. Giggling you poked his cheek a couple times until he opened one eye to look at you grumpily.
“What?” He groaned out, “Just five more minutes, querida.”
“It’s you,” you told him, referring to the persistent buzzing, “Must be pretty important. I think you should get it.”
Hearing the buzzing he groaned pulling off of you and rolling over to the other side of the bed. He loved his club but damn he was getting annoyed with always getting interrupted when he was with you. He saw the caller ID of his younger brother and knew he couldn’t ignore him, not with all the shit that had been going down. Bringing his phone to his ear he answered the call, “Sup E?”
You snuggled into your pillow watching him intently as you could just barely make out EZ’s voice on the other end but couldn’t tell what was being said. Angel sat up swinging his legs across the side of the bed as he hunched over, “Shit,” he said, “Ok not on the cell. Meet you in the yard.” Hanging up the phone, sighing he laid back resting his head on your legs.
You sat up running your hands through his hair, “Everything okay, baby?”
“Yeah, it’s all good mi dulce,” he said looking up and meeting your concerned eyes with his. He felt so lucky to have found someone who cared so deeply for him as you did. “Just baby bro. Nothin’ to worry about.” He gave you a smile hoping to reassure you.
Just then there was a clunk from the kitchen that followed by what sounded like someone rustling around with the faint sound of the radio playing in the background. Your eyes widened as you looked at Angel. He instantly shot up and reached for his gun. The only two people who should be in his house were you and him. And it certainly wasn’t one of you. Setting the gun on the bed beside him he reached over and slipped his jeans on before picking it backup and cocking it. He made eye contact with you as he held his finger to his lips and mouthed the words, “Stay here.”
Carefully and quietly he made his way out of the bedroom shutting the door behind him silently. Peaking around the corner he saw a figure sitting in his chair facing the opposite way of him.
You clutched the blanket to your chest as you anxiously waited for his return being acutely aware of every sound you could hear. You heard Angel’s muffled voice first and then a pause before there was another voice, that of a man’s you could not recognize. You tried to listen in hoping you’d hear anything to ease your fears. You hoped it was just another member of the club, maybe you just didn’t recognize the voice due to the muffled mess of sound between the walls. However rationally you didn’t believe that. You were able to pick up one word, something about heroin, but that’s all you could put together.
After a while the voices quieted. Now your anxiety had peaked as you feared something may have happened to Angel. He should have been back by now to reassure you if everything was alright. There was no sound of a struggle but still you couldn’t shake the worst case scenarios that flashed through your mind like a slideshow of horrific events.
You quietly slipped off the bed. Being extra cautious in your steps you opened the door slowly, peering out before you slid past it. Your bare feet quietly guided you out and into the entryway to the living room of the small home. There you saw Angel standing beside the chair looking down at what appeared to be a woman sitting there. You racked your brain trying to think of who it could be but came up with nothing.
“Now what the fuck am I supposed to do with you?” He said to Alice’s head running his hands through his hair. He hadn’t heard you come out and honestly momentarily forgot of your presence in the house after his exchange with Cole. That was however until he heard your voice call out to him.
“Angel? Who is that?”
He snapped his head around to look at you, eyes wide. Shit he cursed to himself. You couldn’t be here. He didn’t want you to see this, couldn't let you see this. “Go back to the bedroom.”
“What? Why?” You asked, stepping closer to him. Whoever this person was he obviously didn’t want you to meet them.
His first instinct was to yell at you hoping to force you back but he didn’t want to scare you anymore than you had been. Still he wanted to protect you from the gruesome sight before him. You stepped closer to him and he held his arms out stopping you in your tracks holding you by the shoulders forcing you to look at him, “Please baby,” he begged eyes pleading with yours, “I promise I will explain everything, just please go back to the room.”
You furrowed your brows at him trying to read the situation. You wanted to know what was going on more than anything if only to ease the fears you had concocted in your mind but you trusted Angel. If he said he would explain later than he would, there had to be a good reason for his reaction. You nodded about to pull away and head back to the room when your gaze slipped from him and down to the woman in the chair. That’s when you noticed there was no body and she was just a head propped onto something.
Angel watched as your eyes fell and looked upon Alice. His moment of relief from being able to protect you gone in an instant. Your face paled before him followed by the most blood curdling scream he had ever heard.
Your heart started racing as you pushed out of his hold. You felt like you were going to be sick as your insides twisted all around. Rushing into the bathroom you just barely made it to the toilet before what little you possibly could have had in your system came spewing out. Angel was hot on your heels holding your hair as he rubbed comforting circles on your back. You clutched the edge of the porcelain, your knuckles turning white as you stared into the bowl through your tear filled eyes, your breathing quick and panicked.
There was a dead woman just in the other room, no not even that, she was just a severed head. You couldn’t get the image out of your mind and you couldn’t comprehend how Angel seemed so relaxed about it.
Angel watched as your back shook with sobs. His heart was breaking, he was kicking himself for not doing more to keep you safe. You slid down and onto the floor pulling your knees to your chest, your breathing hadn’t improved, it even got worse if that was possible. It felt as if you were dying.
Angel crouched down beside you and placed his hands onto your knees. “Baby, please look at me.” His touch and soft voice pulled you back to reality only momentarily as you looked up at him.
“Breathe with me,” he instructed, taking a deep breath in and then out guiding you to follow him. With each breath you started feeling calmer, your sobs subsiding as you focused on him in front of you, grounding yourself to him.
After a few minutes once you had calmed more you relaxed your hold on your legs. Angel held his arms out sitting back as you crawled into his lap, legs and arms wrapped tightly around him with your face nuzzled into his neck. He ran his hands up and down your back holding you tight against him, your breathing becoming one just as it had when he led you through the calming exercise.
It was amazing how quickly he could calm you, how safe you felt in his arms.
“It’s alright. You’re safe,” he reassured you, “I won’t let anyone or anything touch you.” He knew you must have a million questions and he would answer them all just not now.
You pulled back looking at his face. Brushing the tears off your cheeks with his thumb he then held the side of your face gently. Now might not have been the best time to say it for the first time but he needed you to know, “I love you.” He said resting his forehead against yours.
You looked into his deep brown eyes so close to yours, so full of love. Whispering you said those four little words that held so much in them back to the man you had fallen hard for. “I love you too.”

Chapter Nineteen: A Phone Call
As the weeks passed, Peter struggled in vain against the extra workload of his sophomore year classes. The balance between work, school, friends, and himself was everchanging, ever in threat of tipping off the edge of the proverbial blade. Though the latter was pushed to the side with increasing frequency and his bed was becoming more of a rare luxury much to his dismay.
The tub of tabouli, hummus, and carrots sat uneaten in front of him while Mike explained again why the discourse surrounding the new Firefly show was important to their group and the larger culture abroad.
“It’s a western in space, guys, how can you not like it? Plus, Nathan Fillion is working it. You know he’s damn charming.”
“It’s basically a soap opera and you know it.” Midge said, arms crossed in front of them.
Mike sputtered and Ned stepped in before anyone else would get more offended. Still pouting his lips, Mike turned away from them and started shoveling down his lunch. Midge just sighed. Peter shifted in his seat wondering if he should say anything when Ned bumped shoulders with him.
“You okay?”
He forced a smile on his face. Ned waited for an answer, his eyes open and earnest. The expression made something in Peter’s chest ache. This bitter tug nestled down behind his ribs. Ned was dragged along in all of this. What started as befriending a lone boy in an empty classroom had turned into trying to gather intel from two of the biggest corporations in the world. Still, his friend was right there for him, ready and unfailingly patient with a smile.
“Want to hang out this weekend?” Peter asked instead of answering the question.
He wanted to do something. To have fun and get out of the house for once. His work shifts were pretty stacked up but it was worth it to rearrange them. Ned agreed if his answering smile was any indication.
“Yeah, dude. There’s this cool exhibit downtown about brainwashing. Maybe weird but it could be cool.”
“Sounds fun.” He said.
“Yeah, they get all these big companies to put something together. I’m surprised you know who didn’t do it. I hear Oscorp is holding one in the fall.”
Peter rubbed his chest. The cafeteria noise rushed toward him. All the laughter and words and echoes pressed against him, weighing down. His smile felt wobbly to him but hoped it came off as sincere.
“We’ll have to check the one this weekend out.”

Ten hours later, Peter sat at his desk. His head resting in the crux of his arms crossed on the scattered papers and notebooks. He shifted in the chair and tried not to think about the coming week. The to-do list was somewhere in the mess under him. Every bullet point added another reason his headache was growing at an alarming rate.
One of the pages peaked out from under the curve of his elbow. The model car on it was dissected into the median and coronal planes showcasing all the guts. Why was he tinkering with it after all this time? No one would see it now. Red marks, newly etched into the paper some sleepless night would probably never leave this room let alone the top of his desk unless it was carried through the trash.
The thought of acknowledging he was finally abandoning the project left him gripping onto the papers tight in his palms. Even all these months later, Peter found himself tweaking their project and trying to improve upon it. Lee, the head intern, had said she was always available. Maybe he could email it over and then she could send it onto whoever her boss was? The chain of command wasn’t something he was entirely familiar with but eventually it had to land in his hands.
His phone buzzed.
Out of habit, Peter flipped it upside-down without looking to see who it was from. He tapped his finger against the wood until the sound stopped. He only just managed to sigh when the buzzing started again.
Phone calls were the worst. He hated answering the phone, hated talking over people and not seeing their facial expressions, and hated how goodbyes were always awkward. Above all he hated the way he could never talk in a coherent manner. Always felt like he was overstepping or worse in some people’s eyes, being too quiet.
Phone calls from anyone besides May were trouble. His aunt was in the living room so that meant it was bad. He could be expelled from Midtown or one of his friends could be hurt. Ned’s hands bloody. Julia’s heart stopping. Flash’s chest not rising anymore. Peter’s chest throbbed at the images. With sweaty hands he grabbed his phone off the desk and looked at the ID.
It was from an unknown number.
His thumb hovered over the green button as it rang but he didn’t answer.
If he didn’t answer it was easier to pretend nothing was wrong. The worry barely concealed by his expression was better left unfounded. He kept reading through one of his source books on mechanical engineering but the words held no meaning. His eyes kept returning to the flip phone sitting all innocent inches away from his hand.
His fingers twitched and the phone rang again.
Peter breathed in deeply before flipping it over. He read the number over again. Tried to memorize the digits quickly as if they would hold some significance the longer they were in his mind. The ringing continued and continued for what felt like forever.
His Uncle Ben came to mind. Without letting him linger for too long again, he flipped his phone open and pressed enter. The other side of the call was silent. There was no breathing or anything to indicate someone was there.
“Hello?” The crack in his voice echoed in his ears.
“Am I speaking to Peter?”
The voice was smooth - pristine in its cadence and rhythm. Unlike his own, the words were spoken with no hesitancy or irregular pitch. There never was, either. It was a voice Peter would recognize anywhere. Hearing them say his name now made him realize how much he missed them. It was a strange thought considering. How could he miss a voice so much?
He scowled. It wasn’t fair to minimize Friday to that of just their voice.
“Fr - Friday? I…How did you get this number?”
There was another pause. Peter wished he’d said something else instead of beginning with such a sharp tone. He could’ve asked how they were doing or greeted them with enthusiasm. Instead the panic from earlier manifested in more of a bark. Heat flooded from his neck up to his ears.
“I have scanned through the Stark databases and found this number on Boss’s phone.” He couldn’t help it. Peter laughed throwing a hand over his mouth to muffle the sound. Friday’s silence was enough to confirm they heard but it didn’t dampen his smile.
This was Friday he was talking to. Peter couldn’t believe it and if the smile on his face was wide and almost made his cheeks hurt, he could almost forget about everything else.
“You stole my number from Mr. Stark’s phone?”
“Peter, as I said I scanned...”
“You did! Friday, I can’t believe it. Wait, is everything okay? Did something happen? Is … Mr. Sta- everyone’s okay, right? I mean you don’t have to tell me anything but is everyone…”
“Everyone’s fine. I’m sorry to have made you worry. I would also like to apologize for keeping silent. I called you friend once but haven’t acted in accordance to what constitutes that bond.”
Peter’s neck burned. Friday’s voice sounded as hesitant as Peter felt and he was glad, for once, he wasn’t in the Tower so they couldn’t hear his heartbeat pounding in his chest.
“No need to apologize. I just assumed when I left…”
“That has no bearing on it. There were other factors. Some I can talk about some I can’t.”
“Is, is this why you called? What can you talk about?”
Peter imagined Friday was taking a large breath in from the gap between answer and question. His heart, already beating far too fast for a regular school night, increased its speed.
“You need to come back to the Tower, Peter.”
His ears filled with cotton inducing a fuzzy ringing. It grew louder and louder until he found himself leaning his forehead against the desk. The phone rested where it fell on the table by his clenched hand. He scooped it up despite the trembling in his digits and brought the phone to his ear again.
“Friday?” He rasped out.
“You need to come back to the Tower. There are matters here that would… benefit from your presence.”
There were too many pauses in the sentence and a million phrases flowing through his mind in response. Following on his immediate responses were a plethora of images of the Tower. He conjured filled hospital beds, condemned signs, and most haunting, empty rooms. The worry gnawed at his stomach not caring about Friday’s reassurances. Something had to be wrong. Why else would Friday contact him? It had been months.
There was nothing more he wanted, but all he managed to say was, “I can’t.”
The pain it would bring was all too easy to think about. He’d had a taste of it at the finale internship presentations. The sheer amount of people buzzing with excitement was enough to dull the awkward hurt but Peter couldn’t forget how hard it was to breath once he was in the Tower again. The familiarity burned at his throat. What was a safe haven reduced to just some place he used to know had hurt more than he was willing to say out loud.
Friday wanted him to go back there after everything. No awards or parties would be there to distract. He would have to walk down the hallways and see the beautiful skyline only glimpsed at that height. He would have to see Mr. Stark.
What would he say? What would he do?
“I can’t work on the project anymore, Peter.”
It was devastating in its simplicity. A twist of the metaphorical knife Peter had never even felt embedded in his side. It was a rope taken away as his head sunk swiftly under water. All the progress he’d made even if he didn’t realize it, was gone in the moment those words were said.
Mr. Stark was clear. Final.
At the time there were a thousand words he’d wanted to say but then and now it didn’t seem right. Now, the sense of betrayal no longer stung because it didn’t matter that Mr. Stark knew all about the Weaver and Oscorp. In the end, no amount of explaining or conversation would fix anything because there was nothing to fix.
The steps he took through the door were some of the hardest in his life. His surreptitious glance back resulted in seeing Mr. Stark bowed and facing away from him. The frightened look crossing over his face before hardly seemed to matter in the face of those words. It told Peter all he needed to know. Peter wasn’t wanted. Who wanted to look after a confused teenager? His time there was over.
Or so, he thought.
Months and months passed and now Friday was on the other end like nothing happened. Was there an option besides declining?
He would have thought Friday didn’t know what happened but that was impossible. They knew basically everything that happened in the Tower. It could be some misplaced urge to help Peter. It didn’t make sense. Despite their reassurances, he couldn’t help but worry something was the matter and despite his caution, Peter was curious.
Still, he repeated the two words again. They sounded more like a plea than a decision.
“What you are saying is you won’t not that you can’t. I know you only have one job and the owner has already given permission. I’m asking with sincerity. I need your help…. We need your help.”
Peter took his time to exhale. He stared at the phone in his hands, tracing Friday’s number with his eyes.
He thought of all the reasons not to go back. But the latest realization barged forward. It was with surprising ease that Peter thought about all the help Mr. Stark had thrown his way. All of the encouragement and kindness he showed without Peter even understanding what was happening.
The question wasn’t if he wanted to go back. He would always want to go back. The Tower in a way had grown to be his home. A safe space he never felt drained from after being there. No one expected anything more than Peter could give and the peace of working there, flexing his mind and being with people who understood him was intoxicating.
He could admit to himself he wanted to say yes without thinking despite every reason to say no. He had to be cautious about this, he decided. Peter had to make sure he wouldn’t get hurt like before. That no one would get hurt.
“Friday, you have to tell me what’s wrong.”
Only when he knew could Peter go back. Only then would Peter step foot in the Tower again.

Studio 1 Final project Week 3- Modules save the planet!
In preparation for our student showcase tomorrow, we got together refine our ide and considered that an effective way of improving the reusability of our fidget toys would be to create a modular design. As demonstrated last week, fidget toy parts tend to break rather easily, so a modular design would allow the user to replace the individual broken part, as opposed to having to replace the entire device, resulting in less overall waste. This also has the benefit of allowing the user to change the orientation of the different fidget modules to their custom preferences, which should prove popular to potential consumers.
But what’s the point of chatting away about ideas without some good ol' prototyping?
So, we hot glued some popsicle sticks together to create the “skeleton” of our fidget toy upon which the modules would be attached.
We then disassembled the store-bought fidget toy to make use of its parts. We got glued the separated parts onto squares of cardboard that would be stuck onto the skeleton, effectively emulating the modular nature of the final product.
We quickly realized that the size of our skeleton (and consequently the modular pieces attached to it) was far larger than what we would use for the final product. But for now, it served as a useful proof of concept for the showcase. While we want the final model to be smaller, just how much smaller I will be determined through user testing. In the future, we plan to make multiple low-do prototypes and give them out to as many people as possible and ask them what they prefer to gauge what an appropriate size would be. After all, our aim is for the skeleton to be a “one size fits all” base that the custom modules are added to. So, it's vital that the base be as user-friendly as possible.
After creating the prototype, we considered different ideas on how we want the final product to look and function. We quickly established that for the final base, we didn’t want the skeleton to just be hollow, as this would make the product feel incomplete if not all 6 sides have modules attached. We thought about providing blank modules to use if that side of the base hadn’t been used for a fidget module, but in the end, decided against this idea as it just seemed like an extra step that could be avoided with a better design. We didn't want to have more parts than necessary, for waste purposes but also intuitiveness. The idea of someone attaching a blank module just to be replaced with a fidget module, later on, didn't sit well.
So, on the flip side, we considered having a base that's basically just a complete cube, and the individual fidgets are attached directly onto it, without the need for a base. This is a great concept in theory, as it solves our prior issue of the fidget cube feeling incomplete when not filled up, but given our current resources, we're still unsure how viable that would be.
Pictured above is an example of one of the fidget parts we used, and as can be seen, it has a sizable base that ideally would have to fit in the cube, so having it attack straight on to the side (like it is to the cardboard in this demo) wouldn't achieve the desired result.
We thought of a way that may be able to do this, where the solid side of the cube would open up when the fidget accessory is inserted, and then close back up when removed. So, putting our effectual thinking caps on, we considered a version that may be more achievable given what's available to us. It's still a solid cube, but the sides are indented, allowing space for the module to fit in. This is more of a compromised approach, so it still feels like a solid cube but allows room for the module's base in a more straightforward manner.
In terms of attaching the module, we decided that a magnetic connection would likely be the most seamless method, but more testing down the road will dictate how achievable that is.
We also considered how a product like this would be marketed, and drew up some website sketches to sell the item. We decided the fidget cube would be sold in a variety of presets, so it would already come with 6 fidget modules, that the user could then rearrange or replace at their leisure.
We then t sketched how the marketing images would highlight the modular aspect of the cube, by showing them slightly raised from the cube's base.
Lastly, we reconsidered exactly how to implement the recycled materials to create the final product. As it currently stands, we may have to use regular 3D printing to create our final demonstration, but research the method in which the actual product could be made from recycled materials should it go to market.
Overall today was another productive session, and adding the modular aspect to our project is further pushing us in the right direction of considering less waste and promoting a more circular economy.

I'm not shocked that we now have an almost $1,100 version or that we're able to pay a whopping $1,449 for the 512 GB iPhone Xs Max (which happens to be the model that I tested). Apple's already demonstrated that people will pay almost anything to get their hands on the most current iPhone. Is $1,000 or more too much to pay for a smart phone? Maybe, however many of us think of the complete price rather than monthly payments? I am, however, a little annoyed that Apple stopped the lightning -to-3.5 millimeter adapter. It is as if, in the previous 12 months, we have gotten rid of our audio and Bose headsets, like it is a solved issue. Memo to Apple: It's not.
What I will say is that all these are the iPhones you desire. The iPhone Xs does not mess with what I now consider a timeless design, and also the Xs Max only takes all that is wonderful about the iPhone X also enlarges it. general thoughts:
a w.i.t.c.h live action reboot should largely use the comics are source material. while the cartoons are beloved by many including myself, i reckon the good parts of each should be combined to be thematically consistent, fix plot holes etc. but the comics should be the bible here
the target demographic of younger women and girls would need to be established early on by the producers (personally i would love to see a slightly more mature, w.i.t.c.h college AU where the target demographic could be teens/young adult women and girls, but more on that later). this isnt to say that young men and boys would be absolutely excluded as an audience, but misogyny is alive and well in 2019, and our voices as women need to be uplifted. this is exemplified by the fact that caleb was given far, far, far too much screentime in the cartoon so that the show could reach a young, male audience, and his characters was mangled by chauvinistic tendencies. thank u, next.
i have my own preferences wrt to ships, but i think we can all agree that introducing male characters as mere plot devices for drama/conflict only to put them ‘on a bus’ when theyre no longer useful is just plain bad writing. this is a critique levelled both at the cartoon and comics, but largely the comics (see: Eric)(rip in peace).
i also believe that sticking to the conventions of a particular genre, or hybrid genre, would be preferable if a w.i.t.c.h reboot were to take place. some shows get it right, but I’ve seen a ton of shows go off the rails when they try to be a fantasy/comedy/crime/drama/horror/sci-fi/occult/soap-opera extravaganza all in one. i reckon a YA fantasy drama with comedic moments, something with a similar vibe to Shadowhunters or The Shannara Chronicles, could work really well. if we’re talking animated reboot, something with a similar tonal atmosphere to The Dragon Prince or Into the Spiderverse, would also be great
this shouldnt even need to be said but please, for the love of god, no musical episodes (heres looking at you, Riverdale).
i think i speak on everyones behalf when i say that, irrespective of the age demographic of the show, LGBT rep in w.i.t.c.h would be amazing. irma/cornelia have always been a practically canon fan favourite, but cassidy and nerissa’s relationship is definitely more than strictly platonic, so that could be developed upon too. trans/nonbinary!will is also a popular headcanon that could work. once there are lgbt heroes, and not just lgbt villains, i think we’ll all be happy.

much and all as i adore the guardian outfits, i think there would need to be a few changes made. the midriff-and-leg-baring get-ups, though very cute, become very jarring when you realise the characters are meant to range in age from 12 to 14. i dont have any specific thoughts on how improvements could be made, but lengthening hemlines could be a start. if anyone has any more thoughts, i’d love to hear them!
of course, there needs to be women in the writers room, lgbt people in the writers room, poc in the writers room, people with neurodivergencies in the writers room, etc. we all know what happens when writers rooms lack diversity, and it sure as hell aint pretty.
body diversity was something that was tentatively approached in the comics (irma is curvier than the others, at least in her mundane form), but eschewed almost entirely in the cartoon, with all the girls maintaining similar heights and waifish proportions. it would be worthwhile, not to mention realistic, for the girls to go through some body-image hang ups. maybe will is insecure about her ‘underdeveloped’ body, or maybe taranee longs to have the same curvaceous figures as other dancers her age. i think if they were to go for a message of body positivity, irma, loud and brash with no fucks to give, should love every inch of her fat body and encourage the girls to adopt her 'devil-may-care’ attitude. the patriarchy be damned.
one flaw with the comics AND the cartoons are that they dont really explore the worldbuilding a lot. we do spend some time on meridian in the comics and the cartoon, but largely from the perspective of either elyon, or caleb and the rebels. i wonder what a day on meridian would look like for the average meridianite peasant? what do meridianites do for fun? what language(s) do they speak? what are their religious/spiritual belief(s)? what are the styles of dress dictated by? meridian is based on medieval societies, and a caste system is suggested, but i would have loved to see the social hierarchies expanded on a little more. does the matriarchal nature of meridian rule value women and their labour? what about LGBT people on meridian? people with disabilities and neurodivergencies? is there any discrimination against the different species on meridian? in fact, i dont know if it was ever explicitly outlined to us the different species of peoples on meridian, in the cartoon or the comics. honestly id be happy to see a filler, AtLA Tales of Ba Sing Se-esque episode on meridian to cover all of these bases
one thing i loved from the comics that didnt translate as well in the cartoon were the girls’ passions and interests. will is obsessed with frogs, she rides her bike to her job at pet store, she swims, stresses over math homework. irma loves music and talking to her pet turtle, leafy; i could totally see her doing a stint at the college radio station or working part time at a record store. cornelia loves ice skating and has received tons of awards and accolades for her achievements on the ice. taranee is an avid photographer and dancer, but i could totally see her spending her spare time at rallies and protests too. hay lin is a proficient artist, making her own clothes and poring over paintings between shifts at the silver dragon. all of these things and more are what make these characters so well-rounded, relatable, likeable. their hobbies need to be weaved into the fabric of the show (not just brought up once for a silly plot device in cornelia’s case, or never brought up at all in taranee’s, as seen in the cartoon) in order for it to work
live action reboot thoughts:
this should go out without saying, but a live action w.i.t.c.h reboot should cast actors of colour to play characters of colour. hay lin, and by extension her family, need to be played by Chinese actors, while taranee needs to be played by a black actor, preferably one of east asian descent, etc. if they add a little more diversity to the cast i would be totally pleased. latina!irma is a popular headcanon that i ascribe to, and will has always been kinda ambiguously brown, so adding less ambiguous representation for poc to the cast would really be excellent
of course, age-appropriate casting is a must. more specifically, there should not be any 25-30 year olds playing characters in their mid-late teens, unless ofc they could actually pass for the age they are trying to play. shows like The OA and The End of the Fucking World really get this right (most other teen/YA dramas, not so much. less of the chiseled abs and rock hard pecs on teens, please)
this one might be tricky to get right, particularly with budget constraints, but i think a really good CGI/visual effects team is necessary for a w.i.t.c.h reboot to work. unless an adequate amount of the budget is spent on making sure the magic looks realistic, almost plausible, it will make everything else look cheap by comparison
also, this is more of a personal preference, but i’d love to see someone with a really beautiful visual aesthetic and scope of cinematography. i’m talking Sense8-esque levels of cinematographic beauty
i’m really rambling now but, similarly, it’d be so cool to see someone who could use lighting/colour theory in very particular ways. in Marvel’s Netflix Originals, each character has their own theme colour; in Jessica Jones, for example, all of the scenes are very blue and almost leeched of warmth, while in Luke Cage there seems to be a warm yellow filter over everything. how cool would it be if all Taranee-centric scenes had a slight gold hue? or if all of cornelia’s scenes were lit with green? maybe all of the colours could combine in the a subtle yet effective way when all of the guardians are together to show their unity and combined strength.
thoughts on an animated reboot:
i know very little about animation so these thoughts will be brief, but an art and animation style something like that of Into the Spiderverse would be really gorgeous. it is fluid, dynamic, beautiful to look at and, most importantly, reflects the comic format in a moving image perfectly. alternatively, the animation studio behind The Legend of Korra could also be wonderful. the visual effects used for magic would look absolutely incredible

It is not strange that Apple didn't bring down the price for the new $999 Iphone Xs (or perhaps hold onto the original version and market it at a lower price). I'm not shocked that we now have an almost $1,100 version or that we're able to pay a whopping $1,449 for your 512 GB Iphone Xs Max (which appears to be the model I tested). Apple's already proven that individuals will pay virtually anything to get their hands on the most recent iPhone. Is $1,000 or more to pay for a mobile phone? Settings

General
On the General tab of the Settings dialog, you can configure when to start and update Docker.

Expose daemon on tcp://localhost:2375 without TLS - Click this option to enable legacy clients to connect to the Docker daemon. You must use this option with caution as exposing the daemon without TLS can result in remote code execution attacks.
Send usage statistics - By default, Docker Desktop sends diagnostics,crash reports, and usage data. This information helps Docker improve andtroubleshoot the application. Clear the check box to opt out. Docker may periodically prompt you for more information.
Resources
The Resources tab allows you to configure CPU, memory, disk, proxies, network, and other resources. Different settings are available for configuration depending on whether you are using Linux containers in WSL 2 mode, Linux containers in Hyper-V mode, or Windows containers.
Advanced
Note
The Advanced tab is only available in Hyper-V mode, because in WSL 2 mode and Windows container mode these resources are managed by Windows. In WSL 2 mode, you can configure limits on the memory, CPU, and swap size allocatedto the WSL 2 utility VM.
Use the Advanced tab to limit resources available to Docker.
CPUs: By default, Docker Desktop is set to use half the number of processorsavailable on the host machine. To increase processing power, set this to ahigher number; to decrease, lower the number.
Memory: By default, Docker Desktop is set to use 2 GB runtime memory,allocated from the total available memory on your machine. To increase the RAM, set this to a higher number. To decrease it, lower the number.
Swap: Configure swap file size as needed. The default is 1 GB.
Disk image size: Specify the size of the disk image.
Disk image location: Specify the location of the Linux volume where containers and images are stored.
You can also move the disk image to a different location. If you attempt to move a disk image to a location that already has one, you get a prompt asking if you want to use the existing image or replace it.
File sharing
Note
The File sharing tab is only available in Hyper-V mode, because in WSL 2 mode and Windows container mode all files are automatically shared by Windows.
Use File sharing to allow local directories on Windows to be shared with Linux containers.This is especially useful forediting source code in an IDE on the host while running and testing the code in a container.Note that configuring file sharing is not necessary for Windows containers, only Linux containers. If a directory is not shared with a Linux container you may get file not found or cannot start service errors at runtime. See Volume mounting requires shared folders for Linux containers.
File share settings are:
Add a Directory: Click + and navigate to the directory you want to add.
Apply & Restart makes the directory available to containers using Docker’sbind mount (-v) feature.
Tips on shared folders, permissions, and volume mounts
Share only the directories that you need with the container. File sharing introduces overhead as any changes to the files on the host need to be notified to the Linux VM. Sharing too many files can lead to high CPU load and slow filesystem performance.
Shared folders are designed to allow application code to be edited on the host while being executed in containers. For non-code items such as cache directories or databases, the performance will be much better if they are stored in the Linux VM, using a data volume (named volume) or data container.
Docker Desktop sets permissions to read/write/execute for users, groups and others 0777 or a+rwx.This is not configurable. See Permissions errors on data directories for shared volumes.
Windows presents a case-insensitive view of the filesystem to applications while Linux is case-sensitive. On Linux it is possible to create 2 separate files: test and Test, while on Windows these filenames would actually refer to the same underlying file. This can lead to problems where an app works correctly on a developer Windows machine (where the file contents are shared) but fails when run in Linux in production (where the file contents are distinct). To avoid this, Docker Desktop insists that all shared files are accessed as their original case. Therefore if a file is created called test, it must be opened as test. Attempts to open Test will fail with “No such file or directory”. Similarly once a file called test is created, attempts to create a second file called Test will fail.
Shared folders on demand
You can share a folder “on demand” the first time a particular folder is used by a container.
If you run a Docker command from a shell with a volume mount (as shown in theexample below) or kick off a Compose file that includes volume mounts, you get apopup asking if you want to share the specified folder.
You can select to Share it, in which case it is added your Docker Desktop Shared Folders list and available tocontainers. Alternatively, you can opt not to share it by selecting Cancel.
Proxies
Docker Desktop lets you configure HTTP/HTTPS Proxy Settings andautomatically propagates these to Docker. For example, if you set your proxysettings to http://proxy.example.com, Docker uses this proxy when pulling containers.
Your proxy settings, however, will not be propagated into the containers you start.If you wish to set the proxy settings for your containers, you need to defineenvironment variables for them, just like you would do on Linux, for example:

Network
Note
The Network tab is not available in Windows container mode because networking is managed by Windows. Install ipsw macos catalina installer.
You can configure Docker Desktop networking to work on a virtual private network (VPN). Specify a network address translation (NAT) prefix and subnet mask to enable Internet connectivity.
DNS Server: You can configure the DNS server to use dynamic or static IP addressing.
Note
Some users reported problems connecting to Docker Hub on Docker Desktop. This would manifest as an error when trying to rundocker commands that pull images from Docker Hub that are not alreadydownloaded, such as a first time run of docker run hello-world. If youencounter this, reset the DNS server to use the Google DNS fixed address:8.8.8.8. For more information, seeNetworking issues in Troubleshooting.
Updating these settings requires a reconfiguration and reboot of the Linux VM.
WSL Integration
In WSL 2 mode, you can configure which WSL 2 distributions will have the Docker WSL integration.
By default, the integration will be enabled on your default WSL distribution. To change your default WSL distro, run wsl --set-default <distro name>. (For example, to set Ubuntu as your default WSL distro, run wsl --set-default ubuntu).
You can also select any additional distributions you would like to enable the WSL 2 integration on.

Docker Engine
The Docker Engine page allows you to configure the Docker daemon to determine how your containers run.
Type a JSON configuration file in the box to configure the daemon settings. For a full list of options, see the Docker Enginedockerd commandline reference.
Click Apply & Restart to save your settings and restart Docker Desktop.
Command Line
On the Command Line page, you can specify whether or not to enable experimental features.
You can toggle the experimental features on and off in Docker Desktop. If you toggle the experimental features off, Docker Desktop uses the current generally available release of Docker Engine.
Experimental features

Kubernetes
Note
The Kubernetes tab is not available in Windows container mode.
Docker Desktop includes a standalone Kubernetes server that runs on your Windows machince, sothat you can test deploying your Docker workloads on Kubernetes. To enable Kubernetes support and install a standalone instance of Kubernetes running as a Docker container, select Enable Kubernetes.

Switch between Windows and Linux containers
From the Docker Desktop menu, you can toggle which daemon (Linux or Windows)the Docker CLI talks to. Select Switch to Windows containers to use Windowscontainers, or select Switch to Linux containers to use Linux containers(the default).

Settings dialog changes with Windows containers
When you switch to Windows containers, the Settings dialog only shows those tabs that are active and apply to your Windows containers:
If you set proxies or daemon configuration in Windows containers mode, theseapply only on Windows containers. If you switch back to Linux containers,proxies and daemon configurations return to what you had set for Linuxcontainers. Your Windows container settings are retained and become availableagain when you switch back.
Dashboard
The Docker Desktop Dashboard enables you to interact with containers and applications and manage the lifecycle of your applications directly from your machine. The Dashboard UI shows all running, stopped, and started containers with their state. It provides an intuitive interface to perform common actions to inspect and manage containers and Docker Compose applications. For more information, see Docker Desktop Dashboard.
Docker Hub
Select Sign in /Create Docker ID from the Docker Desktop menu to access your Docker Hub account. Once logged in, you can access your Docker Hub repositories directly from the Docker Desktop menu.

Two-factor authentication
Docker Desktop enables you to sign into Docker Hub using two-factor authentication. Two-factor authentication provides an extra layer of security when accessing your Docker Hub account.
You must enable two-factor authentication in Docker Hub before signing into your Docker Hub account through Docker Desktop. For instructions, see Enable two-factor authentication for Docker Hub.
After you have enabled two-factor authentication:
Go to the Docker Desktop menu and then select Sign in / Create Docker ID.
Enter your Docker ID and password and click Sign in.
After you have successfully signed in, Docker Desktop prompts you to enter the authentication code. Enter the six-digit code from your phone and then click Verify.
After you have successfully authenticated, you can access your organizations and repositories directly from the Docker Desktop menu.
Adding TLS certificates
You can add trusted Certificate Authorities (CAs) to your Docker daemon to verify registry server certificates, and client certificates, to authenticate to registries.
How do I add custom CA certificates?
Docker Desktop supports all trusted Certificate Authorities (CAs) (root orintermediate). Docker recognizes certs stored under Trust RootCertification Authorities or Intermediate Certification Authorities.
Docker Desktop creates a certificate bundle of all user-trusted CAs based onthe Windows certificate store, and appends it to Moby trusted certificates. Therefore, if an enterprise SSL certificate is trusted by the user on the host, it is trusted by Docker Desktop.

How do I add client certificates?
You can add your client certificatesin ~/.docker/certs.d/<MyRegistry>:<Port>/client.cert and~/.docker/certs.d/<MyRegistry>:<Port>/client.key. You do not need to push your certificates with git commands.
When the Docker Desktop application starts, it copies the~/.docker/certs.d folder on your Windows system to the /etc/docker/certs.ddirectory on Moby (the Docker Desktop virtual machine running on Hyper-V).
You need to restart Docker Desktop after making any changes to the keychainor to the ~/.docker/certs.d directory in order for the changes to take effect.
The registry cannot be listed as an insecure registry (seeDocker Daemon). Docker Desktop ignorescertificates listed under insecure registries, and does not send clientcertificates. Commands like docker run that attempt to pull from the registryproduce error messages on the command line, as well as on the registry.
