What is the link between meditation and enlightenment?
We have to first understand why we are not enlightened. We are unenlightened because our minds are impure.
Mind causes both bondage and liberation
It is the view of wise men that the mind is the cause of both the bondage and liberation of embodied beings. If the mind is attached to the Gunas of Prakriti and their products, it leads to bondage; but when it begins to feel delight and attraction for the Lord (Purusha), it leads to liberation. When the mind is freed from the impurities of lust and greed generated by the sense of ‘I’ and ‘mine’, it attains to purity and rests in equanimity, being unaffected by pleasure or pain. Then the Jiva, endowed with knowledge, renunciation and devotion, experiences in truth the Supreme Spirit transcending Nature (Prakriti) – Kevala (untouched by anything), eternal, self-effulgent, subtle, indivisible and unconcerned – as well as Prakriti with all its binding power destroyed.
Srimad Bhagavata Purana III.25.15-18
So how do we purify our minds. Meditation is a method to purify the mind. How does meditation work?
On Meditation
As we get butter by churning the curd, fire by rubbing the two pieces of wood, so by constant and concentrated meditation we can realize the Self and obtain peace. The Self is eternal, indeclinable, truth, omnipresent, all-supporting, great, non-comprehensible even to the mind. In the form of Existence, Consciousness and Bliss, the self is stationed in the heart of all creatures. While all other things are mortal, the Self alone is immortal. The Self is present in all beings as the ether in fire and water.
The Supreme Self, like the fire, is not attached to anyone. It is compassionate to the devotees and for their protection it assumes human form but the ignorant regard it as man.
If a person possessed of differential knowledge meditates on him in the heart, the Unborn Self is pleased by his devotion and appears to him in his true form.
It makes the seeker ever gratified when all sorts of desires forsake for ever.
Hence, leaving your ego and attachment for this mortal frame you should move all alone in this dream land without imbibing any sense of desire.
Where is stability in dream, truth in magic, eternity in the autumnal cloud and reality in the body?
Knowing that the world is born of ignorance, you should restrain your senses and control your mind, thereby you will obtain peace.
Garuda Purana, Dharma Khanda, Chapter VI
Truth dawns in a purified mind.

Helmet Mask (Kholuka or Mbala), Yaka, 1875, Art Institute of Chicago: Arts of Africa
In the past, Yaka masks like this example comprising a wooden face with a dome-shaped hairstyle of twigs and cloth appeared in performances marking the end of the male puberty ritual called n-khanda. They embodied the ancestors who watched over fertility and well-being, and celebrated the boys’ reintegration into society as adults after a long period of seclusion at the edge of the village. The masks’ imagery refers to Yaka concepts of cosmogony and sexuality. Gift of Neal Ball Size: H. 45.7 cm (18 in.) Medium: Wood, raffia, and pigment

Meg Brainstorming #2
I’m gonna steal Sage’s idea of putting down some smatterings of ideas and thoughts for connections and the like.
Shahil: DESTINY TWIN. <3 Of all the warriors, Shahil is the one that Meg knows the best and probably also the longest. They wouldn’t have started interacting until Meg took over the Gearworks, when she probably showed up at the smithy after her father passed and wanted to see if the trade relationship between their shops was still on. I like to think that they write notes to each other when shuttling things back and forth, in addition to orders. Pause mentioned at one point that Shahil’s family might occasionally invite Meg and Nidhi over for dinner occasionally, which I think is adorable. I also still adore the idea of Meg and Shahil being drinking buddies.
Agni: Meg has worked for Agni previously as a pit member, and I suspect she seeks out volunteering for his team when it’s mecha polo season. He’s competent and easygoing and he knows when to speak up at the right time about his mecha. He also doesn’t treat her like a tool whose sole purpose is making his mecha go, unlike some other players. That means the world to her.
Red: Meg once saw this little slip of a girl turn a drunken asshole into a soprano. That makes her All Right in Meg’s book.
Khanda: I’m really looking forward to having Meg and Khanda meet. I suspect his curry shop is the only place where she can find a curry that hits the spice level she’s looking for, and will probably be spending her lunches there when the shop’s in her neck of the woods and she can get away. Meg’s not an airship mechanic per se, but a lot of the engine builds are probably similar, and she might be plied to do some work on the ship in exchange for curry if needed.
Annaisha: I’m actually not sure how these two are going to get along. If Nidhi’s needed to go to the library for anything for school, Meg might have tagged along, and might have encountered Annaisha peripherally. If their first serious meeting surrounds Meg being a Star Warrior, though, there’s a less than zero possibility that Meg will have serious problems with this woman who is WAY TOO ENTHUSIASTIC about this thing that Meg really wants to Just Go Away. I think she’d warm up to her eventually, but those first few meetings might be tense.
Mokuren: I think Meg would take a liking to Mokuren. She would appreciate Mokuren’s freedom and sass, and would probably hit her up for tips on how to look fashionable on a budget.
Aoi: I feel like Meg is going to find Aoi…complicated. She’ll find him careless and infuriating and would probably keep him well away from the shop if he was ever in town because she cannot deal with him good naturedly tripping over something important. He would probably also tickle a bit of her resentment because he’s basically able to do whatever he wants and has total freedom but also isn’t doing much of anything. Also would he PLEASE take better care of himself and DAMNIT why does he have to be so happy-go-lucky and kind of likeable despite EVERYTHING ELSE? So…infuriating. Meg will find Aoi infuriating.
Hongyu: I fully expect Meg to hit Hongyu up for a few fighting pointers. While Meg is pretty capable of dealing with your basic thugs and breaking up drunken brawls when she just wants to SIT AND HAVE A QUIET DRINK THANK YOU, if she goes up against a trained fighter she’s going to have her ass handed to her. She’d probably sop up whatever Hongyu is willing to teach her.
Azat: Meg is going to have so many problems with Azat. It’s people like him that make her so anal about making sure her books are in order. Not out of any exceptional need to be an upstanding citizen, but because she doesn’t want to give anyone any ideas that she isn’t able to provide for her little sister. Azat reminds her that the Empire could potentially take Nidhi away if they decided she wasn’t a good guardian and like hell if she’s going to let that happen, given Nidhi’s the only family she has left.

Sikh Comb Wooden Kanga Singh Kaur Kakar Khalsa 1 of 5 Ks Khanda engraved PP3 New
Sikh Comb Wooden Kanga Singh Kaur Kakar Khalsa 1 of 5 Ks Khanda engraved PP3  - Ideal Gift on all Occassions

Weight approx. 15g
Wood - Premium Sheesham/Tahli wood
Traditional Sikh Design along with Khanda engraved on both side of this comb giving it a Vintage look.
These Kangha are from the holy city of Amritsar Sahib Ji (The City of Golden Temple/Darbar Sahib/Harmandir Sahib Ji).
Please see photos showing the details of these items. A Kangha is a small wooden comb that Sikhs use twice a day. It is supposed to be kept with the hair and at all times. Combs help to clean and remove tangles from the hair, and are a symbol of cleanliness. Combing their hair reminds Sikhs that their lives should be tidy and organised. The Sikhs were commanded by Guru Gobind Singh to keep a small comb called a Kangha at all times.
The comb keeps the hair tidy, a symbol of not just accepting what God has given, but also an injunction to maintain it with grace. The Guru said hair should be allowed to grow naturally. For men, this includes not shaving. At the time of Guru Gobind Singh, some holy men let their hair become tangled and dirty. The Guru said that this was not right 'Hair should be allowed to grow but it should be kept clean and combed at least twice a day.'

Please read below information about Kanga/Kangha/Sikh Wooden Comb:The Five Ks (Punjabi: ਪੰਜ ਕਕਾਰ Pañj Kakār) are five Articles of Faith that Khalsa Sikhs wear at all times as commanded by the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji who so ordered it at the Vaisakhi Amrit Sanskar in 1699. The Five Ks are: Kesh (uncut long hair), a Kangha (small wooden comb), a Kara (steel or iron bracelet), a Kachera (piece of undergarment) and a Kirpan (short dagger). The Five Ks are not just symbols, but articles of faith that collectively form the external identity and the Khalsa devotee's commitment to the Sikh rehni "Sikh way of life".A Sikh who has taken Amrit, dons all five Ks is known as Khalsa ("pure") or Amritdhari ("Amrit Sanskar participant"), while a Sikh who has not taken Amrit but follows all rules and keeps all five Ks is called a Sahjdhari ("slow adopter").The Kanga is an article that allows the Sikh to care for his or her unshorn long hair, Kesh. The kanga is usually tucked behind the "Rishi Knot" and tied under the turban. It is to be used twice daily to comb and keep the hair in a disentangled and tidy condition. It represents the importance of discipline and cleanliness to a Sikh way of life and is used to keep the hair healthy, clean, shining and tangle-free. The Kanga is tucked under the rishi knot to keep the rishi knot firm and in place.
ਕੰਘਾ ਦੋਨਉਂ ਵਕਤ ਕਰ, ਪਾਗ ਚੁਨਹਿ ਕਰ ਬਾਂਧਈ ॥Comb the hair twice a day, covering it with turban that is to be tied from fresh.                                 — Tankhanama Bhai Nand Lal Singh
