"It was a nice reception, don't you think?" Xiang Haoting said as he walked down the hotel hallway towards his room with Yu Xigu. "Boxiang's been insufferable about it all month."

"You're his best man, you chose to carry that burden." Haoting looked to the side to see Xigu smiling despite the bite of his reply. "But yes, it was a good reception. Zhigang-ge looks happy. And I'm happy for him."

Haoting took Xigu's hand in his own and pressed a kiss to the back of it. "I like it when you're happy."

"Then get into less trouble with your professors," Xigu said as they finally reached their room. With a swipe of the key card, the door unlocked and Xigu dragged his larger boyfriend inside. "I saw those emails, you're late on two assignments."

Haoting groaned as he fell back into their bed. "Yu Xigu, are you invading my privacy?"

"It's not privacy if you leave the email client open while shoving your laptop under my nose to see your new high score on a video game." Xigu turned around to continue chastising Haoting only to be greeted by his puppy dog eyes. "None of that, I'm not helping you finish all that work again."

"Xiiiiguuuuu-ah!" Haoting lurched up to hug Xigu around his waist and nuzzle the starched cloth of his dress shirt. "Your boyfriend is simply struggling for a moment! Just a little help would go miles! I won't ask you to do any of the work, just check it for me? Please?"

"After such a busy and happy occasion, you still have energy to beg like this?" Once again, Xigu's words were harsh, but Haoting continued to bury his face in Xigu's side for his boyfriend's tone was fond and not mad and Xigu's hand was calmly carding through Haoting's styled hair. "Fine, I'll check it for you, but you better finish it a few days early so I have time."

"Mm, I promise," Haoting said as he pulled away. "I should give my lovely Xigu something in thanks."

"You can thank me by not doing it again," Xigu said as he turned to take his suit jacket off.

"But, I already got you something!"

Xigu turned around again to see Haoting fumbling with a small box. "Xiang Haoting! You-"

Haoting popped open the box and held it up proudly to display the two rings inside. "It's not a proper proposal, not yet." Haoting pulled out the smaller ring before taking Xigu's right hand. "It's a promise. I know I'm still a little immature and still not as bright as the stars you like to look at..." Haoting slipped the ring onto Xigu's ring finger and looked up at him. "But please stay with me. I'll help you search the stars by your side soon. I promise."

Xigu blinked and before he could move himself, Haoting's hands were already cupping his face, brushing away tears. "Xiang Haoting, you really are the worst! Stealing thunder on the day of your best friend's wedding."

"This isn't stealing thunder," Haoting said as he stood up to kiss Xigu's forehead. "I'd be stealing thunder if I proposed in the middle of his ceremony." Another kiss was pressed to Xigu's cheek. "So, will you promise me?" Haoting asked as he holds up the larger ring.

Xigu snatched the ring from Haoting's hand and slid it onto Haoting's ringfinger. "Yes, I promise." Xigu kissed the ring and then frowned. "But this still doesn't mean I'll help you do the work on your assignment."

"I wasn't going to ask that next!"

Tonhom & Long Pao & Seeiw: "These three, especially Seeiw and Long-Hom, have been shown to be so supportive and caring of one another, particularly concerning Seeiw’s journey of accepting that he’s gay and in love with Cake as well as their journey of grief together. They all rely on each other and take care of each other, especially when it matters most. Two of the most pivotal moments of the show, for me at least, were when Long-Hom watches a film with Seeiw that depicts two men in a relationship and Long-Hom notices just how much it affects Seeiw. Later on, Seeiw confesses his feelings for Cake to Long-Hom during one of the emotional highlights of the show, and she handles it so well, dispelling his idea that he’s somehow dirty for having feelings for another boy. Seeiw asks Long-Hom if it’s okay, why was everyone in the movie so upset? Why didn’t the two men in love get a happy ending? And you can just see Long-Hom’s heart break in that moment. She doesn’t know what to say, but she does her best to support Seeiw, and that’s all she really could do, in my opinion."

Haoting & Yongxing: "They have the best, most authentic sibling vibe I've ever seen in a BL. They bicker and annoy each other all the time and would rather die before giving the other a compliment, but they have fun doing it and when push comes to shove, they're there for each other. Xiang Haoting, chronically terrible at getting good grades, listed second of the entire school for midterms, just to prove a point to his sister. And when Xiang Haoting was locked inside his room after coming out to his parents, it was Xiang Yongxing who snuck out and gave Yu Xigu a phone on her brother's behalf so he could talk to his boyfriend. And STILL, she managed to come off as indifferent and not caring about Xiang Haoting's well-being."

Tin and Can definitely deserved better than whatever they were serving up in LBC S2. We didn't come here for Mean and Plan to have EVEN LESS chemistry than the first season. or for Tul to get some sort of "humanizing redemption arc." Sad!Ae can stay as long as he gets HELP. I refuse to address the other couples. That's... That's a discussion for another day.

Kinda not living too much for the MekKim chaos in My Secret Love, and yet I keep watching. I mean, they're working it out. The more recent episodes are much better now that the Chairwoman isn't forcing boys to make googly eyes at each other, but still.

We're not even going to TOUCH the couples in H4: CTY. That show just needs a rewrite.

All the couples in GenY also need help. Any ONE couple in that show could probably carry an entire series on their own if competently written. MarkKit's backs are BROKEN by carrying that entire show, and that's just a testament to how good Copter and Kimmon are as actors.

I might argue BohnDuen from My Engineer could have also done better, but they really could have gone way worse. I just hate how frequently miscommunication is used as a trope. Also mismatched expectations out of a relationship (although that happens way too frequently in real life and is thus as near to accurate representation of the gay struggle as we'll get in a lot of these).

LianKuea and YiDiao also could have had a lot more fleshing out in Cutie Pie. I'll be fair and say YiDiao apparently have "their own story" and they're trying to get that made into S2, but ehhhhh.... If you don't know you'll get S2, don't put stuff off FOR S2 and tease it. Just... either cut it out or properly work it into S1.
