Hey I’m a 23 year old superhero fan, is it wrong to say I found a lot of modern legacy characters from the 2010’s such as Miles Morales, Kamala Khan, Riri Williams as….boring?

Maybe i chemically mess up, but a lot of these legacy characters feel…safe I want to say? They never cause huge issues or conflicts themselves. Feel like 98% of the hero community easily accepts them and kisses their asses.

I’m been thinking making a Indian teen boy legacy character that becomes the Henry Ford to Tony Stark’s Thomas Edison.

Is something wrong with me? Idk, I just want something else besides the McDonald’s dc and marvel gives me.

Nah, there's nothing wrong with you. Comics just suck shit these days. Writing is all about presenting the right "representation", so minority characters are supposed to be liked by everyone because not liking them means you're racist, blah blah blah.

Remember that god awful Lady Thor comic where the bad guys were all spouting reddit-tier misogyny that sounded like it was ripped directly from a "and the whole bus clapped" tumblr post from 2013?

Comic book writing has gotten even worse since then.

If you want a recommendation for good comics, I'd suggest giving Eric July's The Rippaverse a try. It's a new comic universe built from the ground up to be like comics of old, where story and characters take center stage and politics and agenda pushing is left out completely.

There are already two comics out Isom #1 and Isom #2, written by Eric July, the latter of which is just wrapping up its pre-order campaign. They have three other books in the works too. Alphacore, written by Chuck Dixon who used to write The Punisher for Marvel and created the Batman villain Bane, and Yaira, written by The Soska Sisters, who make low budget horror movies and wrote a Black Widow series where Black Widow destroyed a child trafficking ring. Those will be released by the end of this year if all goes well. There's also an unannounced book also being written by Chuck Dixon that's probably going to be released next year, along with Isom #3.

You could also search the #IronAge tag on twitter. That has a lot of independent comics and other writing projects from people who don't like the modern woke comic industry and want to try and present something better than the current Marvel/DC/Image offerings.

«Influencers» cubanos se suman a un reto en las redes ¡por África! ¿Y Cuba pa’ cuándo?

Un grupo de cubanos influyentes en redes sociales se sumaron al Challenge Africano y muchos se preguntan dónde están las iniciativas para ayudar a su país natal.

Saylin Sánchez Portero, embajadora cubana en Senegal, fue la encargada de crear e impulsar el reto. Rápidamente se hizo viral en plataformas como Facebook, Twitter e Instagram.

Los cubanos y el Challenge Africano

El objetivo es subir una foto utilizando un turbante o pañuelo típico de la cultura africana y postearlo. El periodo para hacerlo se estableció hasta el 25 de mayo cuando se conmemora el Día de África. Las etiquetas fijas son #ChallengeAfricano, #DeCaminoalDíaDeÁfrica y #EcosDeÁfrica

Para la cultura de Senegal el pañuelo es importante y forma parte del traje africano conocido como bubú. Se puede usar de diferentes formas y con tela de diversos colores por lo que es «ideal» para reflejar la riqueza de la región.

“¿Cuán unidos podemos estar dentro de lo diversos que somos?”, es el mensaje que busca levantar esta idea en honor a un “continente lindo, pero poco conocido y lamentablemente estereotipado, que tiene muchísimas cosas que mostrar”. Saylin Sánchez Portero, embajadora cubana en Senegal.

La embajadora aclaró que «es dificil» que haya algún cubano que no tenga historia con África. Por lo que el reto es una oportunidad de impulsar la cultura y que, evidenció, está moviendo a muchas personas.

Personalidades resaltantes como Omara Portuondo, Haila María Mompié, Enrique Molina, Ana Fidelia Quirós e Inés María Chapman decidieron asumir el reto desde hace unas semanas.

Su participación genera polémica ya que los ciudadanos cubanos esperan que los «influencers» alcen la voz sobre la crisis que vive la isla en medio de la pandemia. Además de los abusos sistemáticos de regulación, control y represión del régimen castrista.

Hay que destacar que el Día de África se conmemora el 25 de mayo porque fue el día que se fundó la Organización para la Unidad Africana (OUA). Ahí se celebra de forma internacional la cultura, música, historia y fortaleza del pueblo africano.

LA HABANA, Cuba.- Más de 4000 de los 8332 médicos cubanos despachados en Brasil han sido repatriados desde que el régimen de La Habana se retirara en noviembre del programa “Más Médicos” en respuesta a declaraciones del presidente electo brasileño Jair Bolsonaro, que amenazó con cambiar las condiciones del acuerdo.

Los cooperantes sanitarios han regresado en un total de 20 vuelos -fletados por el gobierno cubano- procedentes de ciudades brasileñas de Brasilia, Sao Paulo, Manaos y Salvador de Bahía, según informó la Cancillería de La Habana.

“Este regreso es rápido y ordenado”, señaló la directora de Comunicación e Imagen del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores (Minrex) de Cuba, Yaira Jiménez, citada por medios estatales de la isla.

Asimismo, subrayó que el régimen cubano “no generó la situación actual. La decisión tomada por nuestro país de no continuar participando en el programa Más Médicos fue dolorosa pero necesaria, en tanto es una responsabilidad y una prioridad para Cuba garantizar la integridad física y la seguridad de sus colaboradores”.

“La situación actual, bajo la cual se han creado circunstancias lamentables que hacen imposible la continuidad de la cooperación cubana en Brasil, es responsabilidad exclusiva del gobierno brasileño que asumirá funciones el próximo 1 de enero”, insistió.

La directiva también indicó que antes de finalizar el año los demás médicos que prestaban sus servicios en Brasil estarán de regreso en la isla y que todos se reincorporarán al sistema de salud pública en condiciones similares a las que tenían antes de integrarse al programa “Más Médicos”.

En ese sentido, refirió que en provincias como la oriental Santiago de Cuba un número importante de los primeros que arribaron ya están prestando servicios en sus consultorios.

No obstante, Jiménez dijo que estos profesionales podrán cumplir misión médica en otros países si así lo desean, y resaltó que a este grupo de galenos se le propondrá también el estudio de idiomas y de una nueva especialidad.

El ministerio de Salud Pública (Minsap) de la isla anunció el pasado 14 de noviembre que retiraría a su personal del programa “Más Médicos” por el que Brasil contrató a los galenos, como respuesta a las nuevas condiciones planteadas por Jair Bolsonaro.

Una declaración del Minsap explicó entonces que esa decisión era la respuesta de del Gobierno cubano a las declaraciones “amenazantes y despectivas” de Bolsonaro, que consideró a los médicos cubanos “esclavos” de una “dictadura”, cuestionó su preparación y propuso modificaciones “inaceptables” al programa y ajenas a los pactos establecidos.
