This is the side result of me pondering how there should be more Bikini Kill in the soundtrack after I saw a teen Nat fanart with a Bikini Kill patch on his jacket.

Jackie: Yes, but it's very much the sugar-coated "girl power" feminism.

Shauna: Yes. She's read The Feminine Mystique and is into the riot grrrl movement.

Van: Yes. She's very much into Les Feinberg and loves reading Dykes to Watch Out for in the local alt-weekly. She also loves Sleater-Kinney.

long time no YJ brainrot theory, buuuut- choosing heliotrope as the color symbol for sunshine honey was pretty excellent writing on ash/bart/liscos’ collective parts. along with the name heliotrope, the flower is also heliocentric. its blossoms turn and follow the sun, like sunflowers. to have this specific detail in the adult timeline parallels the teen timeline and their present predicament in the wilderness. it’s horribly cold, snow is everywhere, food is scarce and morale is low.

in adult timeline, lottie is the sun. their light in the darkness, their provider of warmth and food (in terms of specific perspectives), and their hope for joy and something better every morning. in both timelines, lottie’s followers behave as if they were heliocentric. she takes the circle sessions in the morning and in season 2 she stands on that platform in front of the lake, at the highest point (figuratively), at the compound.

but what happens when the sun is gone? (learned this fact yesterday and immediately thought of this. ik the theories r exhausted, lmk if anyone else’s brain has gone into a frenzy over this lmao)
