10. Last movie: Christmas Cupid. My roommates and I decided to hate watch it for New Years and we didn’t even get like a third through it. It is TRULY terrible. Although it features Ashely Johnson of Critical Role fame, who is trying her best.
11. Last Show: Critical Role bc I’m a NERD. Also I’m watching The Queens Gambit right now
12. when did I create this blog: Like a few days ago. I got sucked back into les mis via quarantine and i have let it consume me. I’ve had my main since I was a freshman in highschool tho so yikes

16. Why i chose my url: bc I think I’m funny. I relate some to Enjolras as a character and so I felt clever for switching up the classic “be serious,” and “I am wild” but in French hon hon hon

19. Average hours of sleep: 6-8. It would be more if I didn’t procrastinate on going to bed like a weirdo

21. Instruments : I can still play decent easy piano music and I’m a singer!
22. What I'm wearing: black harem pants (I think that’s the name?) wacky patterned teal socks, and a very large sort of ragged gray swear shirt that my uncle gave me for free
23. Dream job: ACTING! It’s what i’m in school for. Some version of theater where I get to act but also directly affect change and improve the lives of communities where I perform
24. Dream trip: Prague! The Jewish side of my family is from there and I’ve always wanted to see it
25. Last book I read: For class I read the Aeschylus play The Seven Against Thebes which is super interesting, and hilariously enough, the last thing I read for pleasure was Les Mis although I haven’t finished it yet
26. Favourite food: It’s gotta be pasta. Or kheer. They’re tied actually.
27. Nationality: American? But I’m not very patriotic. My family is from lover Europe and I’m partially Ashkenazi
28. Favourite song: Changes every day. Right now, I have to go with Jackboot Jump by Hozier
29. Top three fictional universes: I love the Raven Cycle universe, although it’s basically just Appalachia, which is where I’m from. But like- Appalachia with MAGIC. The Folk of the Air universe from Holly Black’s books! And the multiverse from A Wrinkle in Time!
30. What is something you like about yourself? : I’m a very empathetic person. I think I come off as sort of stoic because I’m still sort of figuring out how to use social cues and the like, but I care really deeply about people and I try to see good in everyone. Not that I don’t also acknowledge and stand against bad people, I just try and have a little empathy, even if I am actively working against them. I think a little empathy is good as long as it doesn’t blind me to people being shitty!

Thank you for tagging me, @alpinewriter!
Answering these for Splitsville
1. Describe the plot in one sentence.
Girl exposed to a lot of heartbreak must learn to put her faith into love, and to have hope even when you can’t predict the future.
2. Pick one sight, smell, sound, feel and taste to describe the aesthetic for your novel.
Sight: a forest. Sound: laughter. Feel: the leather of a steering wheel. Taste: Birthday cake frosting.
3. Which 3+ songs would make up a playlist for the novel?
I have a full playlist right here!
But if I had to pull just three from that, it would be Adulthood by Jukebox the Ghost, When You Go by Jonathan Coulton, and Kids by MGMT.
4. What’s the time period and location in which the novel takes place?
Present day, Oregon USA. Small town, not too far from Portland.
5. Are there any former titles you’ve considered but discarded?
No! Splitsville was originally a placeholder name, but it’s grown on me, and now I think it’s perfect.
6. What’s the first line of your novel?
“The summer after fifth grade, Cupid was assassinated.“
7. What’s a line of dialogue you’re particularly proud of?
The first ones that comes to mind is in the narration, not dialogue. Hmm. There’s an exchange between Sid and Pamela at a sleepover, but I don’t want to share it yet because it’s in the chapter I’m posting this weekend. I’m planning to post that particular section to here when I do, though.
Not dialogue, but I do like when I say drunk Archer does something “with all the speed of a concussed sloth.” I quite like that metaphor.
8. Which line from the novel most represents it as a whole?
Probably the first one? There’s another I can think of, but it’s rather spoiler-y.
9. Who are you character faceclaims?
I don’t take faceclaims too seriously, choosing to think of them more as “if I had to cast someone” than “this is exactly what they look like.”
That said, I standby Teddy Fisher as Jordan and Maddie Baillio as Pamela. They’re perfect. And Jim Beaver as Dave, Sid’s dad. I’ve said Sean Berdy for archer. He doesn’t fit the physical description as well as the others, but for now he’s the best I’ve found.
For Sid, i go back and forth between three. Usually I say Brigette Lundy-Paine. The other two are Liv Hewson and Isabel May.
I actually have a much better idea of who I’d envision if the characters were older. If anyone is curious lmao.
10. Sort your characters into Hogwarts houses.
My gut tells me Pamela would be Gryffindor, Sid would be Hufflepuff, Teddy would be Ravenclaw, and Archer would be Slytherin, but I’ve only ever read the 4th Harry Potter book and that’s because it was a class assignment, so I don’t really know. Seems like the houses are a bit hard to define.
11. Which character’s name do you like the most?
Oof. Probably Archer? I do like Sid a lot because I love “masculine” names on girls, but I also have a thing for occupational names. Archer was going to be Fletcher for a split second before he appeared fully formed in my mind liek god damn Athena from Zeus, declaring that his name is Archer. His middle name is also Pheonix, which is pretty badass.
12. Describe each character’s daily outfit.
Sid: casual and athletic. tee shirt, jean shorts/gym shorts, flannel tied around the waist, sneakers.
Archer: fuckboi frat house aesthetic. School/wrestling team sweat shirt and pastel pink shorts.
Pamela: a very cute and girly, slightly too fancy dress. Always very fashionable and in season. Probably sparkly and purple or red.
Teddy: he’s the one I’ve had the hardest time nailing down the style of. I think lowkey preppy. Sweaters and polos, boat shoes. Little more serious and formal than most teens.
13. Do any characters have distinctive birthmarks/scars?
Nope.
14. Which character most fits a character trope?
As a whole, Pamela, Archer and Sid form the found family trope.
But the award goes to Teddy with the adorkable trope.
15. Which character is the best writer? Worst?
Teddy is the best... want to say Sid is the worst but that feels weird because she’s the narrator. She has a good imagination but is the worst at writing, at least according to school.
16. Which character is the best liar? Worst?
Pam is the best, Archer is the worst.
17. Which character swears the most? Least?
None of them get to swear that much because I’m trying to keep with YA industry standards I guess, but I’d say Sid would swear the most and Teddy would swear the least.
18. Which character has the best handwriting? Worst?
Teddy has the best. Sid has the worst.
19. Which character is most like you? Least like you?
Sid is the most like me. Pam is the least like me.
20. Which character would you most like to be?
Not really any of them tbh. Not that their lives are horrible. Just not appealing enough or different enough to covet.
