"He is the pus in the wound. Oh, proper ones curl their noses, but it's pus that drinks foul humors and restores the blood. I worship Peryite, yes, because sometimes the world can only be cleansed by disease." - Kesh the Clean
Today is the 9th of Rain's Hand and the summoning day of Daedric Prince Peryite.
Also known as the Taskmaster, the Blighted Lord, the Lord of Infection and Pestilence, the Bringer of Disease and Pestilence, the Lord of the Natural Order, the Master of Tasks, and the Lord of Abundant Pus and Bountiful Vomit, Lord Peryite is the Prince of tasks, pestilence, and ultimately natural order.
Tumblr media
"He is considered one of the weakest of the princes, despite being depicted as a dragon.” – Skyrim Loading Screen
Despite the popular perception among commoners and even some Daedra worshippers that Peryite is one of if not the weakest Prince the Lord of Natural Order is more complex than his polite demeaner and detached interest from Nirn would let on.
Tumblr media
“Peryite, whose sphere is the ordering of the lowest orders of Oblivion, known as the Taskmaster.” – The Book of Daedra
“Peryite’s pits have always been inaccessible to mortals. Our only real knowledge of them comes from reports of the other diabolical Princes. It is said that Peryite guards the lowest orders of Oblivion and that his summoners are to regard his likeness to Akatosh as some primordial and curious jest.” – Imperial Census on Daedra Lords
An often overlooked aspect of the Master of Tasks is his role as the Taskmaster. Peryite governs tasks, quests, labor and all forms of work. He is the patron of the employer and the employee. The General and the Soldier. The Overseer and the Slave. He enforces tasks on all from the mortal men of Nirn to the chaotic creatia of Oblivion. He is what keeps things in motion. A constant balance between stagnating stasis and uncontrollable chaos.
Tumblr media
"Peryite's sphere seems to be pestilence...” – On Oblivion
“Green dragon's breath pollutes cloud and pool…” – Song of Despair
“He is the pus in the wound.” - Kesh the Clean
The Blighted Lord governs pestilence as well. To the unwise this may not seem as major as the spheres of some of the other Lords such as Sheogorath or Mehrunes Dagon. However, the peoples of Tamriel would be wise to pay him proper respect. The Thrassian plague which resulted in the deaths of half of Tamriel's population and the Knahaten Flu that drove the Kothringi race to extinction are just two examples of what the Lord of Infection and Pestilence's sphere governs.
Tumblr media
"“Peryite is the daedric prince of tasks, order and pestilence." - Skyrim Loading Screen
"This eternal balance is the work of Peryite, the Master of Tasks and Lord of Order.' - Great Spirits of the Reach
The final and ultimate aspect of Lord Peryite and the one that explains the seemingly opposing natures of his other spheres is his governance of the natural order. Not to be confused with the rigid artificial stasis of Lord Jyggalag, the Lord of the Natural Order maintains balance between the extremes. He is both the pandemic and the cure. He is the pestilence that ravages populations and the taskmaster that instructs the survivors to rebuild stronger. The low-intensity wildfire to burn away the debris and dead trees to make way for young, healthy vegetation to thrive. On both Nirn and in Oblivion he is an eternal maintainer. Building things up and tearing them down as need be.
The misconception of Peryite's weakness is merely a testament to the ignorance of mortals who's ability to perceive him has been rotted away by the ever present exposure to his power.

Man you know what just bothers me sometimes? When I see Daedric Princes like Sanguine or Sheogorath get degraded as a simple "haha funny Daedra go brr" when.... In fact, they both can be extremely dangerous??
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved the Sanguine quest in Skyrim, it was different from the other Daedric prince's quests in the games, and that's what made it FUN. But it definitely shows the more calm side of Sanguine rather than himself in whole. Sanguine, although he does love pranks and meddling with mortals, is still the Daedric prince of addiction, indulgence, and debauchery.
He leads mortals down roads of ruin under the guise of just a fun little party, and gives them the "just one more" mindset. This addiction can tear families apart, or distance you away from your friends or loved ones. It's not like other spheres, like domination or destruction, but something rather subtle but still crippling nonetheless.
In conclusion/TLDR: Sanguine (And Sheogorath, might make a seperate post about him) is still a very dangerous Daedra and I think that sometimes people forget about that.

the fact that daedra had to stop opening gates in black marsh because the argonians kept reverse-invading them is so funny to me it was just like
daedra: we’re invading
argonians: no, we’re invading

Thank you! Praying to you seems to have certainly helped. I've already gotten much of what I had been waiting on done, and it is not even noon yet for me. I greatly appreciate your help.

I’ve been a big fan of the Elder Scrolls for a while, and I’m particularly fond of the Daedric Princes. Peryite is my favorite, and while the noodly dragon appearance is certainly charming I wanted to see if I could make a design more suited to the whole “prince of pestilence” aspect.
This isn’t a super detailed drawing (not compared to some of my other works anyway) but more a personal reference. Still, I’m happy with how it looks so I wanted to share it.

Since you're the prince of tasks, does that mean you're the guy I make offerings to in order to seek help in my chronic procrastination?
“Hm. Surprised a mortal actually wishes to seek my aid for that aspect of my sphere. I’m almost flattered you remembered. Yes, you may leave offerings if you wish. Perhaps I can enlighten you with methods of organization and focus.”
