like sunlight through glass. the hufflepuff often prided themself
on holding their alcohol, but tonight, they actually seemed a bit
tipsy for once. teddy grabs onto aiden with disconnected hands,
grounding themself by flopping onto the boy’s shoulders.

teddy’s grinning, and they can feel albus grinning,
which only makes them grin wider, and GODDAMN,
their cheeks were already starting to burn from all
this cheesy grinning. they can feel their mohawk
flashing every colour of the rainbow like a strobe light
gone mad, half-worried that their curls will act as a
beacon and warn somebody of the punks on the roof.
surprisingly, they manage to push away the anxiety, focusing
on the sting of alcohol on albus’ tongue and the feeling of his
skin resting against the hufflepuff’s palm. they feel like they’re
living in the climax of a teen movie, fireworks bursting behind
them as the edge of forever by dream academy plays.
but teddy had been around long enough now to know that the
good things never last. so they’re not exactly surprised when
albus suddenly pulls away. teddy wouldn’t exactly want to kiss
themself either.
with a cough, they look down at their shoes with the same intensity
one would give to a math test, tousled curls and aching cheeks the
same shade of flustered red. they drum their fingers on the shingles,
half to offset the awkwardness, and half to get that damn song out of
their head.
“ -- sooo.
is this the part where I
say somethin’, or ye do? “
fucking finally, albus thinks, a grin on his lips as
teddy leaned in and kissed him as they cupped
his face.
it took less than half a moment for him to press
back against warm lips and return the kiss. he
could taste the alcohol and acrid taste of what
teddy had just smoked on his lips and found
himself continuing to smile despite it all.
however, like all good things in life, it had to come to
an end much too soon for anyone’s taste. albus idly
heard a door slamming on the lower levels of his
house and jumped back, face a bit red as green eyes
darted about quickly, inspecting every corner of the
roof and yard to make sure they weren’t caught.
not that he was particularly embarrassed, but he didn’t
want to risk his parents seeing them just yet as he
wasn’t one hundred percent positive on how they would
react.
it also gave him reason to excuse his irregular
heartbeat to panic instead of what had just
transpired.

“ i sleep like a baby! unlike ye, kept awake
by dreams of a super hot hufflepuff. “ they
say with a mock sigh.
“ i’ll believe ‘em when i see ‘em. “ teddy shrugs,
gasping when albus hits them. immediately, an
extremely oversized bruise appears on their skin,
which they rub at with a pout. totally not a fake
mark.
the hufflepuff scoffs at albus’ refusal, gladly
burning the joint down to the tip. holding the roach
between two tattooed fingers, they listen to albus
with half-closed eyes. a comfortable shade of blue
settles into their hair, reassured by the boy’s honesty.
but then he has to go and say KISS. and teddy chokes
on the smoke in their throat, coughing like a middle
schooler getting high for the first time.
“ wait, WHAT ?? oh no, albus, this is awkward... i wasn’t
serious. i thought we were jus’ talkin’ in hypotheticals. “
they try to keep an expression of concern, but they can
only hold it for a moment before bursting into a grin.
“ sorry, sorry, jokin’. that wasn’t funny. “ they giggle,
leaning over to cup albus’ chin in their hand.
“ non-hypothetically? i’ve thought ‘bout this a lot. “ teddy
admits, whispering, before diving into a kiss. slow, calm,
-- smiling.
“ if that’s the story that helps you sleep at night, ” albus
shrugged, grinning cheekily. he certainly enjoyed
playing games, but he found that occasionally he
enjoyed playing them more when both parties played
a l o n g.
“ your lack of FAITH in my abilities is very disheartening. ”
for a moment he looked as if he was truly hurt by their
words, though quickly he rolled his eyes and punched
teddy in the shoulder playfully, laughing only when they
grew scales and made themselves look like a dragon.
he waved the offer off and chuckled quietly, nodding his
head along to the plans with the van. it would be fun at
the very least - and though al preferred the quiet to
noise and parties, even he liked cutting loose once in
awhile. “ i do not do pity-yes’. if theres something i don’t
want to do, i don’t do it. ” perhaps a somewhat selfish
way to live, but it had worked for him well thus far, at
least for the most part.
" now let’s drop this whole bullshit hypothetical thing, and
how about you actually kiss me or something? “
