I think I'll be forever obsessed with nanny ashtoreth and brother francis. gardening is crowleys thing, so I want to see how that conversation went down. did crowley volunteer to be the nanny? did aziraphale just ask to be a gardener to troll crowley?

brother francis/aziraphale would end up talking to the plants so kindly but ultimately knowingnnothing about gardening besides the fact that plants should grow. then it got better when I pictured nanny at 2 am, smeared with dirt, doing some remedial gardening.

Ok so, I was getting bored at the train station and saw an ask where Neil Gaiman said that the numbers on Aziraphale's phone were probably the original bookshop number, even though that would not be historically accurate, or something along those lines.

So, bored as I was, I had a random thought and typed those numbers as latitude coordinates on the Greenwich meridian.

And since Neil has spoken and I would never ever question his words,

I guess it's entirely accidental that those coordinates mark a place in Epping Forest, London,

that used to belong to a man that loved collecting antique books and dreamt of opening a fine books related business with his dearest friend.

A man who never managed to fulfill his dream, but who is remembered today by a plaque on the Pole Hill Obelisk, originally placed to serve as a guide for astronomical observations.

It must be a coincidence, undoubtedly.

Still can't get over how Crowley pulled the "do you hear that? Yeah exactly" card

Does anyone else feel stuck between two worlds? Like they belong in both and neither? Does anyone else have the feeling that one day you’re going to have to choose one and leave the other in the rearview window?

Does anyone else just know deep down that they will always end up choosing the world they like least? Because you know that it’s the smarter option, the responsible option. Because in the other world you’re more likely to sink than float and even if you don’t drown the chances of ever being noticed are so close to impossible that they’re basically zero. And yet you know that when you have to leave it, you still won’t want to go. For whatever reason you love it, this world is as deeply ingrained into you as your genetics, you need it just as much as you need air.

But you know you’ll choose the other. You’ll choose the other because you have a greater chance at survival. You’ll leave the other world behind because maybe you’ll become greater, become happier. Because if you just put your head down and stop your mind from wandering back to that world, you might become something, right?

Does anyone else dread the day that choice will come and they’ll have to leave a world behind? Does anyone else dread saying that goodbye? Because there’s no way you can survive in both worlds forever.

And as scary and dreadful that day will be, does anyone else fear staying right where they are? In that limbo?

Is anyone else afraid of where they’re going and yet scared to be stuck where they are?

Look I just need to talk about how brave Aziraphale is in A Companion to Owls.

He chooses to Fall to save three human children. He believes with his whole angel heart he will be condemned to Hell for all eternity to save those kids. (That this doesn’t happen, that Crowley offers kindness instead, is irrelevant to his original choice.) He is ready to go - willingly, knowingly. And Crowley is not yet a comfort to him, not really friends yet, nothing to ease his burden. And he still chooses what is right.

The way Aziraphale looks away in both the Bandstand breakup and the EVERY breakup, not wanting to watch Crowley go — knowing he'll come back, he always comes back, right? That was a step in the dance they've had for millennia.

But Crowley doesn't want to dance anymore. He breaks it. He breaks the dance. He moves aside. He does – tells Aziraphale the one unspoken thing – the reason they dance at all.

I think one of the reasons Aziraphale has become so enamored with humanity is that it gives him an opportunity to “choose your own adventure”. He’s spent his entire existence placed in a box but on earth he is able to be whoever the hell he wants to be. A west end magician, a journalist/newspaperman, a bookseller, anything but just another one of heaven’s lackeys. Being amongst humans gives him the ability to choose who he is. Sure, Crowley was pushed into the same mold but he chose to escape heaven and, in the scheme of things, hell may be harsher with punishment but demons probably have a bit more free rein when it comes to making choices. Aziraphale has constantly been pushed into one mold and humanity gives him some kind of autonomy to be something more than just the angel of the Eastern gate.

Maybe Crowley fell in love with the universe because he helped create it and Aziraphale fell in love with the universe because it helped make him.
