I've recently been using the Obsidian app! It's like having your own personal little wiki!
Tumblr media
These nodes are all "articles", where you can write whatever you want and even upload images to it!
I'm curious how people usually keep their Clans and characters- From designs to family trees to allegiances, I usually just keep all of mine in a OneNote notebook, but I'm curious if there's a website people might prefer or how other people like to organize their work!
I use primarily Google docs to organize all my stuff! As for family trees...nice used excel before. But most of my family trees are a jumbled mess of notes. I'm sure there are lots of different things people use! Everyone feels free to reply with different resources if you want!

Do you think any of them are illsuited to their instruments/positions?
Hmm. Maybe it's being a K-On fan but I was expecting Fluttershy on a keyboard or something. The tambourine feels... a bit superfluous? And I was expecting a fancier weapon for Rarity, maybe a violin or something, but I guess that's not "rock" enough. Rainbow Dash on lead guitar, Applejack on bass and Pinkie on drums all make perfect sense for their characters though.

what happened to your wof rewrite I can't seem to find it
I don't have one! Never did. My blog is still @wings-of-fire-reforged, but I've never written anything for Reforged, nor do I plan to in the near future. I got far too much on the plate.

If you wanna nitpick the hell out of things, the Ancients couldn't have been driven out of the Lake before the 1920s since Jaypaw-as-Jay's-Wing describes the construction equipment as yellow. In the 30s it became the standard color for construction equipment, but had been used by one company in particular before then.
And this is before the Ancients moved to the mountains and Half Moon got old and sent out the Sun Trail Followers and founded the Clans. I'd want to gander the Clans were founded some fifteen or twenty years after the Ancients left the Lake. At the earliest, we got the early 40s as their founding date. At the latest, it's mid-50s.
And that's not taking into account how long it's been since Skyclan was driven out (which was before Mapleshade's Vengeance btw, the Windclan medicine cat is the only cat who appears in MSV and CSJ, then MSV Thunderclan apprentice Nettlepaw is an elder in Goosefeather's Curse), or when Rusty entered the forest (I like to think it was in 2003, when Into the Wild was published).
But yeah, if I had to pick an earlier time to establish the Clans, I'd pick when muskets were used in warfare.
I still miss the era before prequels when the clans were implied (or at least you could imagine them) to be ancient before later books all but confirmed the clans are only around like...less then a century old??
imagine if the dotc cast was having run-ins with ye olden english peasants or something and dodging around horse drawn carts. a different world could have been a fun change of pace. or at least potentially really funny. but nooo we just HAVE to have cars around, how else will we quickly fridge unneeded love interests

Reblog and put your rare pair in the tags/comments! I want to see the depths people will go to create, for the most random two characters in the most obscure media.

for those of you who haven't read it (lookin at you, my one myoot), I'd recommend pacing yourself with the finished webcomic. do like. ten posts a day. if that. two posts every other day. drip-feed yourself the webcomic like we who were around when it was active had to go through.
Another reminder that I have an original webcomic and a blog for it, if you want to see non-Warriors stuff from me!
Not confident in a work-in-progress? Good news! I finished a webcomic last year! Takes about half a day to read through it, if you got the time.

Would you consider your current Warriors fanfic/worldbuilding to be better then the old one? I've been a fan of yours for forever (everyone should go read Seeker! It's wonderful and I love the characters.), but I kinda dropped off of your Warriors fanfics during the first one. Something about it didn't grab me. I also kinda lost track of the new one. Turns out the first book is finished already?! (how does time work.) I'm considering what to read next and a Warriors fanfic would be a nice read.
Yes. Yes I would. Redux was garbage compared to this. I actually have an editor now and I stick to the plan, not just go on impulsive subplots. This one is much better, I promise you. Give it a shot.
Also, thank you for enjoying Seeker!

I will say that Daisy named her kittens before joining the Clans, so Mousewhisker arrived as Mouse before they just slapped a -kit on him and called it a day.
A different situation just happened now where Fernstripe of Windclan joined Thunderclan and Fernsong is still kicking. The same as that situation happened back in TPB where Graystripe joined Riverclan while Graypool was right there.
Cats who dance on the edge of this are a bunch of Riverclan cats: Mossyfoot and Mosspelt were both alive in OotS, and more recently Mistystar and Mistpaw were both alive at the same time. Not quite the same, but enough to be confusing.
Also in AVOS, there were two Mintfurs kicking around at the same time; Mintfur daughter of Petalnose of Skyclan, and Mintfur the conspicuously absent probably-mate of Icewing. If Robinwing of Windclan existed beyond the allegiances of Dawn, she might've been able to meet Robinwing of Riverclan an arc or two later.
I'll start over lol, legacy naming can be fine if done well but i don't think it has. Hollytuft + Sibs appeared to us as adults so we don't get to know about them. Cinderheart was cute until we had the whole "shes actually cinderpelt lmao" moment. The two Mouses and Leafs just had no excuse to be there. And if I was Ivypool and my kid died I would NOT want some random cat immediately naming their daughter after her. Isn't that kind of traumatizing? I got rid of all legacy namings that occur -
in cats younger than Holly in my AVOS/TBC allegiances and in my rewriting exercise I'm making Sparkpaw just be really obsessed with being Firestar's kin so her eventual naming of Flamekit makes a bit more sense. At least I can excuse 4 Robinwings to the Erin's forgetting they all existing(not a valid excuse tho imo), having two Frecklewishes is just insane. Was literally nothing else an option? Frecklesong, Freckletuft, Frecklemint? I've also noticed stuff from the beginning like having a semi - prominent Ashfur in Into The Wild's ShadowClan then immediately having Ashkit/(fur) in Fire and Ice's ThunderClan. At the very least, literary-wise, it feels like too much repeating too quickly. I'm not against two Bobs existing at the same time but still…I've actually put down a good fic because they named literally everyone in TC after a dead cat and I got annoyed lol. Names were like, Ferndust Bluestorm Frostheart etc
TV Tropes has a trope relevant to this: One-Steve Limit. While it's very common for people to share names in the real world, in fiction it's avoided to make things easier on your readers/viewers and prevent repetitiveness. The point of not sharing names is for each character to stand out on their own; often when there are multiples of one name (for example, Heather in "Heathers"), there's a reason to it, usually to mock the hivemind-nature of the characters or establish a theme of putting people in boxes they can't escape from (such as in Steven Universe where every gem of one type shares the same name and remains stuck in one role for their entire existence).
In the case of Warriors, I feel that "rule" rings truest. To be entirely fair to the writers, they have hundreds of characters to name, most of them never even showing up in the books beyond being mentioned in the allegiances. A prefix or suffix is going to appear multiple times - that's just unavoidable, especially if you have rules in place for what names are allowed that limits your options. I can't blame them for that issue coming up a few times accidentally.
What I can blame them for is deliberately using names that have important characters attached to them barely a generation later. In a setting where you have to keep track of every name, even as a reader, it's going to cause nothing but trouble if Greystripe dies and in the next book there's a Greykit in the very same Clan. It creates a constant stream of Grey-, which can accidentally confuse readers, or at the very least trip them up for a few seconds - something you DO NOT want in a story, especially one aimed at kids, where things need to be clear and concise.
