I have and had no interest in it myself, and also only watched because of PP. I put the first episode on with my 11 y/o looking for something to watch together and we both really got into it. So much so that we rewatched it repeatedly, binge style. The relationship between din and Grogu is wonderful and the acting from Pedro is great.
Can someone who has no interest whatsoever in Star Wars fall in love with watching the Mandalorian?
Ok I watched half the first episode of The Mandalorian. I only watched as Pedro is in it and I really don’t think it’s for me. I’ve never seen anything Star Wars in my life. I hear it’s cute and that it’s basically Joel looking after his cargo Ellie but in Space. Can anyone persuade me to watch more? I feel I’m missing out on a wonderful Pedro character, even though I can’t see his beautiful face. Can someone who has no interest whatsoever in Star Wars fall in love with the Mandalorian?
Saw Bottoms on Saturday night as a fluke. I have not laughed that hard at Anything in years! Top to bottom cackling. Not enough people know about it and they should. I only learned about it a half hour before showtime and that was because I stumbled onto the tumble for Ayo. I am still laughing about it today, and I am not a person who laughs much, as soon as it comes out in Blu Ray I am buying that shit because I am not risking it being removed after I download it(Fuck you Amazon)
Sounds great. I think he was in his 40s in this pick or at earliest late 30s. But his appearance in touched by an angel is closer to that time.
and what if i wrote brothers best friend joel? what then?? and what if readers literally loved him her whole life and it’s devastating when he leaves their home town with some woman who doesn’t even appreciate him but then moves back later with little toddler sarah when she leaves him?? and they rekindle?? WHAT THEN??
because you know damn well this is the era i’d imagine late 20s joel to look like
Just watching the Mandalorian for like the 5th time in a row and seeing so many things that I appreciate.
1- in the first episode Greef Karga tells Din to take a break after work and all Din wants to do is go back to work. In the last episode you see him finally taking that break with Grogu
2- I always love how Pedro plays Din as one way with the helmet on and totally another way on his face when he doesn’t have it on. With helmet- confident/ without- anxious.
3- in the book of boba fett, Din makes an awesome first impression. Then he cuts himself with the sword, then chops the bounty in half with said sword. He makes up the cool points by giving the “put it on ice” line.
4- I enjoy how he and Grogu were simultaneously having difficulty training because their minds were somewhere else.
5- I love all the scenes in 3x1 where Grogu is sitting in Dins lap and Din is showing him how to do things. When Grogu climbed into his lap because he got scared, I thought it was soo sweet.
6- The Believer and the 3 episodes of BOBF I think were perfection. When you realize that the pirates were the good guys in the Believer, I really love that moment. I also loved every person’s reaction to hearing that something was wrong with Grogu/ Grogu was no longer with Din.
7- I do like how in 3x1 Din shows up in the first scene in his new ship. I had not seen BOBF during my first watch, so when Grogu’s head popped up I was shocked.
8- the shirt that Din gives Grogu is to me the equivalent of putting him in a bullet proof vest. Him wanting to make sure that he is as safe as possible even though he is giving the Beskar to someone who is no longer a Mandalorian (something he has always been fussy about) seems very close to him saying out loud that he is his son even though everybody but him says it out loud.
But-
9-If in the first episode Grogu is about 50 years old but a baby sucking on things and napping, what is going on with him in season 3 which may be like 5 years later, he is being taken on fights that the other kids are not allowed to go on. Is he responding to sentences like a ten year old or a toddler? I get confused.
10- Don’t get me started on how they dumbed down Din in season 3. You can have someone be a great character without dumbing down another character for comparison.
Ay, so since Logan canonically moved to Neptune when he was like 12, where do y'all imagine he's originally from?
personally I feel like he's from New York or smth, he gives me New Yorker vibes,,, I know Jason Dohring is from Toledo, Ohio, but honestly, Logan doesn't give me Ohio vibes, but I ain't American, so I can't really recognize a lot of accents except southern accents
I love how he goes from looking like this untouchable force with the helmet to looking scared shitless without
PEDRO PASCAL as DIN DJARIN

This is legit a pet peeve of mine. Major trigger. God bless him. The last time I called someone and they were like oh here talk to my friend xyz I had a huge external scream going on.
OMG - this would be some kind of amazing dream to have happen!
Seeing Joel try so hard to make Ellie feel any better, him reaching out to her to make a connection with the roles completely switched from the earlier episodes was refreshing. Her trust in him and making plans to be together was great. The relationship that they developed being so strong he told her about his suicide attempt. The scene in the hospital where he goes to protect her was also really well done. He had fully engaged in the role of dad again and it gave him purpose and life again. She finally had the support she always needed.
The way the scene in the hospital played out was beautiful. The scene of Joel and Ellie hiking on their way to Wyoming I also loved. His heart is finally open and he is loving again. He is finally himself again. Ellie on the other hand is severely traumatized.
Overall a really well done show top to bottom. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey knocked this shit out of the park.
This was one of if not my favorite episodes, which is weird because Joel is my favorite character. I really appreciate that it was Ellie that saved herself and Joel. The stabbing is not usually my kind of thing but she brought so much emotion to it I just could not take my eyes off the screen. Also Joel with the knife even though he was just 98% dead earlier in the episode. This was Bella’s episode to shine.
I like seeing Ellie as she was before this whole mess. Some carefree moments and her not knowing what a lot of technology was. The scenes she had with Joel were my favorite obviously, him telling her to leave and her not having it at all. Then flashing back to her losing her best friend.
I think they did at one point though. It was at the scene where they were at the dinner table at Wallace’s and he was talking about bad stuff that happens. I wish I could recall more for this convo because it’s a good one but this season suuuucked so I only watched it 1.5times since 2019.
Unpopular Opinion
I find it weird that Logan and his Navy jobs are consistently portrayed as rosy and pristine. The franchise is always examining socioeconomic structures and institutions in general, but somehow the Armed Forces are immune to corruption. Even when there are good people wanting to do good things, they're often shown as struggling while doing so(Sacks in the movie,Keith... it's almost his whole thing,Veronica oftentimes). To top it all,the work frequently draws attention to things that look to clean and neat in order to invite a deeper look at them.
Besides, showing the Navy's dark side would've solved the whole "a well-adjusted,morally upstanding Logan Echolls is boring/we don't have anything to do with Logan" problem. He could struggle with a hard call he had to make, notice something crooked being done by some of his similarly or higher ranking officers, going out his way to pick jobs,or realize anything about how fucked the military can be. Heck,we didn't even have him snarking about some pompous shithead. In fact, showcasing the military's dark side could've been used to highlight the good in it,not to mention making the upstanding people inside it stand out. The latter one is especiialy important if Logan is going to be a true believer.
However,to have Logan be in the military without actually examining what he might do at the jobs nor have him feel any conflict doesn't exactly paint him on a heroic light,IMO. Despite being nicer and better adjusted,he's on a relatively privileged position of a structure that harms the disenfranchised all while not caring about anyone else but himself and the ones he cares about. Not quite different from his youth,IMO. In fact, the Navy might be a hardcore version of Veronica's lawyering job - neat and prestigious, but leaves a lot to be desired, ethically speaking. And I didn't see any evidence of the contrary.
