i think i want silver to be a little fucked up actually. sonic and shadow are meant to mirror and resemble each other, in some ways be the inverse of the other, but none of those thematic restrictions apply to silver. he is perfectly capable of being morally screwed up whether he grew up in a ruined future or not and i want to use that to set him apart from the other 'hogs. i want silver who's not above murder and doesn't necessarily even see it as a bad thing, just another solution to a problem. silver who lies without blinking an eye to get where he needs to, who believes that the end justifies the means. but he is still naive, he is still a kid, and he doesn't have the experience to pull these things off with the grace of someone who's done it for years. he picks the wrong people to trust from time to time, gets too cocky when the odds are in his favor, panics when his plans fall apart. silver who, despite everything, still considers himself a hero and a protector, and fails to see the problems in his actions.

ok lemme see if i can articulate this

sonic and silver have just come in from the rain, and silver is shivering so hard his teeth are rattling. he's already not used to the temperate environment of the past, but this first trip back is especially hard on him, especially now that he's soaked to the bone. he curls up into the fetal position and tries to warm up and dry off with sheer force of will. which, of course, is ineffective

sonic, meanwhile, is noticing silver's shaking (obviously). his eyes are even wider than usual, and he looks even thinner with his fur clinging to his skin. sonic notices that he can see silver's ribs, see how his stomach is sunken, how his joints are knobbly. his skin, from what sonic could see of it, is thin and delicate, and it was no doubt brittle and dry. silver opens his mouth to take a shuddering breath and his spit is thick and stringy, gathering in sickly clumps in the corners of his mouth.

sonic is no stranger to symptoms of dehydration and starvation. he had taken care of himself his whole life, and had many mishaps both with his own health and the health of his brother. silver's condition was dire, only hidden from him for this long by his insistence to keep his distance and his deceptively thick coat.

sonic says he needs a glass of water and a burger, stat. he's trying to be tongue in cheek, but silver bristles under percieved hostility.

silver shouts that he's been taking care of himself his whole life, he's never needed help and never will, so stop telling him what to do. and he stomps away, shivering still betraying how physically weak and unacclimated he is.

later, he peeks shyly through the door to the living space. he's carrying a glass of water. he wanted to stay mad, but the loneliness overtook him.

Thought It would be a good time to post this again

In one of the wallpaper stories Silver gets by on apple flavored ration bars in the Iblis timeline. So there's still something of a government at that point and Silver's favorite food/flavor really is apples.

I've tried my absolute hardest to find this specific pic on the Sonic Channel page specifically to also check out the text... but it was a bust😅 Regarding the picture specifically, I thought the bar Silver is eating had the GUN logo on it, but that is not actually the case! It's the star as seen on the crates in Sonic '06. In that case, it probably represents indeed some government or another organisation called into life/refurbished to help survivors in the ruined world. I think it nicely touches upon an issue about Sonic '06, namely how the heck people managed to scrape by in Crisis City. And I'd heard about the apple-flavoured remark before, even if I can't check it myself; I think it's a cool detail to add, also because all the art of Silver liking apples actually comes from Sonic Channel iirc. Just imagine Silver trying out an apple for real in the past while having an actual vague idea of what they taste like!

Hello everyone, I really didn’t want to have to do this again but my new job gave me the run-around for 3 weeks so I ran out of options, I have a job, I’ll start this thursday but things are still pretty dire in the meantime, after this I should be able to handle everything on my own no problem thanks to this new job, I just need enough help to get there, any assistance at all would be greatly appreciated.

while i was out with my friend and my new silver plush earlier i was holding silver as we walked into a shop and according to my friend as we were walking in a grown man saw silver and as i went out of earshot scoffed and muttered under his breath “silver…” and me and my friend found this to be the funniest thing ever
