The latest iteration of Patricia Highsmith’s 1955 novel, The Talented Mr. Ripley gets a fresh adaptation we had no idea we needed desperately. Andrew Scott is perfection in the title role of Tom Ripley, a small-time con artist who worms his way into the lives of rich kid Dickie Greenleaf and Dickie’s girlfriend Marge Sherwood. Andrew Scott is stunning. Ok, I’ll stop using that word. But seriously this limited series packs a massive punch. It’s filmed in black and white, with locations all over Italy. It’s a sexy murder mystery infused with an incredible performance from Scott along with perfect set design, costumes, and a script that would make Highsmith proud. And the cat! Best supporting role feline goes to… Yes, there’s more than one scene of violence, but it’s over quickly allowing the intrigue and suspense to carry us through to the end. This adaptation follows the book closely except for one important detail. I adored Ripley and will be watching it again sometime in the very near future. A delicious 5 out of 5.'
