loz ask game: “Princess Zelda” from spirit tracks!!

I don't think yall understand how in love I am with the spirit tracks soundtrack, I seriously don't think there's a single bad song in the game.

But on topic I honestly think that's one of my favorite versions of Zelda's theme cause it comes with FORESHADOWING (I'm a sucker for good foreshadowing)

*minor spoilers if you haven't played the game (I mean it's 15 years old but juuuust in case)*

Zelda's theme has always been a fairly simple song with usually only a small handful of instruments in use wich is exactly how this one starts off, but then the horn comes in and suddenly shifts into a minor key wich at first just seems like a bit of an odd musical choice but it pulls itself back into the song at the end as a handful more instruments join for that last little bit before the it goes back to just the harp, chimes, and strings. And that perfectly mirrors Zelda's position in the start of the game.

She starts off as really any other Zelda just as the song does. But as the horn picks up you get the sense that there's more going on here than meets the eye, that something in this simple little castle setting is out of place and its masquerade at normalcy is slipping, and she knows. But the song pulls itself together and finds a way to pretend the horn was never out of place, to pretend she wasn't aware of what was going on because the object of her suspicion is right freakin there. And as it pulls itself together to hide what it knows it gets more complex, just for that last little second everything comes together as she forms a plan and executes it, gaining a much larger role in the game than really any other Zelda had so far. But the song handles it so secretly, its only in that last little bit to give you a hint that there's more to her character, but it's not so long it stands out as more than a conclusitory section of the piece at first. That's what makes it so interesting when she hands you the note cause the song was telling you over and over something is wrong here and she can't fix it on her own.

ISNT THAT SO FREAKIN COOL???? It may just be background music but in a subtle little way it tells you EVERYTHING, you just have to listen.
