thinking about this post again because she was very clearly possessed. i could talk about this forever she deserved so much better
also she like. died. so i feel like maybe that’s enough punishment for, again, being possessed LMAO
Audrey’s list of actual crimes:
So as we know, Audrey was the main villain of descendants 3 and committed several actual crimes and got away with it, so to put into perspective just how absurd that is here is a physical list of every crime Audrey committed in D3 in chronological order
-breaking and entering
-destruction of property
-theft
-unlicensed possession of a firearm (you could make the argument that maleficent’s scepter is a firearm)
-possession of a lethal weapon with intent to harm (the scepter)
-cruel and unusual punishment(aging Mal, cursing Ben, the sleeping and stone curses)
-domestic violence (Chad)
-eight counts of attempted murder (Night falls: one count per person)
-attempted regicide (Mal)
-kidnapping (Celia)
-Treason (just throughout the whole movie)
All of this because she couldn’t get over her boyfriend dumping her in high school…and she got away with not even a slap on the wrist
Just accidentally shortened “platonic stobin” to “stobonic” in my head, so if you ever want it to be explicitly clear that the stobin is platonic but don’t want to use the full phrase, you can now use “stobonic”. I think the fact that it sounds so stupid makes it even more on brand
i know this is supposed to be negative towards audrey but good for her actually she should’ve been worse

don’t think about how at the cotillion ben was holding out his hand for uma to take.
don’t think about how he still wanted to help her & the isle kids.
don’t think about how she had to turn down the one thing she wanted most.
and don’t think about how she did it because she knew she’d just proven to auradon that she was a villain. that she couldn’t be trusted.
don’t think about her handing back ben’s ring and don’t think about everything that it meant. she handed back his heart as a silent apology louder than one she could ever speak with words.
don’t think about the confusion ben has as he stares at the ring, and then the almost pained expression on his face as he looks back up at her and realizes what she’s going to do.
don’t think about how she smiled as she turned away, knowing that even though she’d lost, she wouldn’t cause anymore hurt to the future vks who auradon would fear were like her if she’d continued.
and don’t think about the years she spent alone, on the run from auradon, and away from the only people she cared about with no way to get back to them or know if they were okay.
Harry very much craves attention, but so does Uma. Whether it's from each other or others, they want all eyes on them.
They also like being touched, hugged, and caressed by the other, which is clear in the movies.
Harry is probably seen as more clingy because he clearly needs and wants Uma's attention. He's obsessed with her, he needs her, he bows down to her, he loves her. He melts under her touch, he would do anything for her. That is very clear and very flaunted throughout the second movie.
But Uma does the same exact thing. She needs him by her side, she needs his support and love. She loves to touch him and feel his touch. They are always in close proximity. Uma always has Harry's attention and Harry always has Uma's. She would do anything for him, she needs him as much as he needs her.
I think they are both clingy and they both need each other. They both want each other close. They are both obsessed with each other. Uma's reciprocating Harry's need for touch and attention, she might even be worse.
She's running her hands through his hair, she's the one grabbing his Hook, she's the one holding out her hand waiting for him to take it, she's the one leaning into him. Yes Harry wants and loves all of this but Uma's the one starting it.
So yes they are both clingy, I think they just show it differently.
the potential dynamic between uma and audrey is super interesting to me.
imagine uma and audrey are assigned roommates after d3. uma is incredibly busy helping with everyone's transition from the isle, and audrey is recovering from her possession by the scepter and trying to rebuild her reputation. but at the end of the day, they're in their shared room. most often ignoring each other.
they've both got their own opinions of each other - none of them are particularly good. audrey has heard all about uma, and honestly? she's kind of terrified of her.
uma is pretty sure audrey's just another spoiled princess.
but it turns out that rooming with someone teaches you a lot more than you may think.
it teaches uma that audrey smokes, and that she knows how to hide it. it teaches uma that audrey's mother is out of the picture, but her overbearing and, quite frankly, evil grandmother is not. uma learns that audrey is actually really funny.
audrey learns that uma sneaks out a lot. she learns that uma does not trust her, or anyone, for that matter. she learns that uma is really pretty, especially when she’s just come back from the beach and still smells like the ocean.
they learn that they’re both a lot different than they thought. they learn that they enjoy each other’s company.
audrey learns that uma didn’t grow up watching movies on the isle, so she catches her up on all of the “must watch” movies.
uma learns that being a princess is way more painfully boring than she initially thought and that she’s glad she has (almost) no part in it.
uma teaches audrey to sword fight.
audrey teaches uma that acts of kindness don’t always come with strings attached.
they see each other as safe people, as equals, as friends.
Oooooh, that's a hard one! It's bad that my initial reaction to that question was like, "Ooh, she looked really pretty in this scene~, but she also looked really pretty in this scene~..."
From the perspective of encapsulating her as a character and rewatchability, I'd say her first scene is iconic, especially "What's My Name". The way she is with her crew, the way she exudes passion for freeing everyone, it's all incredible to rewatch. I think it's probably cheating to call an entire scene a "best moment" though.
If we're talking one little action/snapshot that I think really makes her special to me, I can think of two great ones:
The moment when she observes that Mal is handing over the wand too easily and orders her to test it out. I love that she isn't easily tricked, and it would have been so easy for them to not include that kind of thing. Using Dude's new talking abilities is a good way to tie in that otherwise superfluous plot point, and the way you can see hope grow in Uma's eyes when the wand appears to work on Dude is just superb and tragic.
The moment where she holds the ember hostage and tells Mal to guarantee her that any kid who wants to can leave the Isle. It's a perfect reestablishment of her noble motive and a great indication of how important she considers this and how seriously she takes it. And they don't try to make the moment funny by throwing in some easy "Also give me your wallet" type of joke; she just wants the abandoned children to have a chance at a safer/provided for life.
Okay, actually, I thought of another one:
Her going back to save Harry instead of chasing Mal. They really set that moment up as a possible Moral Event Horizon; it could easily have been the moment where Uma "proves" she prioritizes revenge over friendship, and I remember being kind of tensed for that, when I first watched the movie, but she stopped for him, she saved him, and that's really why she lost, there. She greatly inconvenienced herself to help her friend, and they did not have to let their antagonist do that; I really love it.
I refuse to choose! All three of those are really great.
