Originally commissioned in 2072, Deep Space Outpost PAROUSIA was built as a joint project between the Bajoran and Trill governments. It served as a cornerstone of deep space exploration for decades- crews would stop in for supplies and fuel before heading off to chart the furthest corners of the galaxy. As the station grew, many species flocked to live there: Ferengi, Klingons, Tellarites, and later Humans, among others.

Now, nearly 200 years later, PAROUSIA is in decline. State of the art technology means that ships no longer need to refuel on long missions, making the outpost desolate. Many families still remain, clinging to their tradition and their home.

Not sure if it’s been clarified yet but for two centuries Parousia primarily had Trill, Bajoran, and Human residents- more exotic aliens only found their way to the station in the previous few decades. Those three cultures helped shape the community of the station and many families have ancestors from all of those races.

SKIPPER RANK GUIDE

OFFICER RANKS

Captain / Master: Same function as on normal Starfleet ships. Oversees the entire crew and ship and has the final say in all decisions.

First Mate: Aids the captain in decision making, and takes command when the captain is incapacitated. Organizes shipwide agenda but less involved in day to day of crew.

Boatswain: Oversees the enlisted crew, tasked with training the new crewmen and sorting out conflicts.

Chief Engineer: Keeps the ship in working order, primarily concerned with maintaining the engine.

ENLISTED RANKS

Able Seaman (AB): Crewman who’s served 3+ years in the fleet and is somewhat experienced, handles a wide variety of on deck duties.

Ordinary Seaman (OS): Crewman that’s new to the fleet, same duties as an AB but a lower rank.

Greenhorn: Slang term for an OS on their first assignment.

Deck Cadet: Apprentice from a training academy who is on track to become an officer. Usually have much higher practical knowledge, but lack practical experience.

Instantly brought to mind this section of “October” - it keeps with the typical low brass/woodwind sound of other trek themes, but is a little more melancholy.

As for the opening sequence- some typical shots of the Ghost traveling through space, a few closeups of stars, given how important they are to the plot, and a final arrival at the Parousia station as the song reaches crescendo.

Quick! What's every single one of your character's favorite color and least favorite family member?

Faduhl: Olive green/maroon, and has a strong disconnect between her and her adult daughter, who chose to be an artist back on Bajor instead of becoming a solar skipper.

Ryan: Scarlet red, and has a very formal relationship with her parents but only sees them every few years, and doesn’t like them much.

Bennet: Indigo, and he clashes often with his younger cousin Max who serves in the Solar Regulatory and Defense Organization (SRDO), an small and shadowy organization that many on the station distrust.

Aleki: Gold.

Ekaz: Greens/blues, as they remind him of nature, which is hard to find on a rickety space station. Is very close to all his family on the station, but dislikes some of his distant family that live on Qo’noS.

Talii: Steel blue, and has a fraught relationship with one of her mothers.

Chyell: Magenta, surprisingly, and is regarded as a disappointment by basically everyone in their family.

Jonathan: Lavender and spring green, and has a bone to pick with his father (deceased).

Standard uniform guide of a Solar Skipper!

These uniforms are designed for heavy wear and tear, as opposed to the more decorative uniforms in other divisions of Starfleet. Many skippers choose to add personal embellishments- extra pockets, mission patches, flight pins, etc.
