White Rabbit Festival of Queendom of Roses: Episode 5-4

Now the award ceremony began, NRC team was announced as the winner and got the winning trumpet. The commentator asked the team leader to come up to the podium. As the leader of the winning team, Deuce received the trumpet, sash, and glasses as supplementary prizes.

With all the prizes, Deuce looked like the White Rabbit, Ortho said. Epel added with the glasses on, Deuce somehow looked serious and smart, which made Deuce happy.

Deuce: “Really?!” Grim: “Only the look.”

Then Deuce was considering to wear glasses when he study so he may be more motivated, and also wearing it at school. Dilla said she wanted to tell Deuce’s grandmother about Deuce winning the race.

The Black Bunny group was still pissed. The commentator was about to call Black Bunny as the 2nd place, but the committee found they did numerous fouls so they were disqualified.

In addition of NRC team’s winning, they should apologize to Dilla, but they refused. Deuce questioned them if they were to broke the promise. They didn’t care and were about to fight Deuce and the others again, but the leader stopped them.

The leader said he remember hearing the name “Deuce” and finally he recognized it. He is indeed the legendary delinquent of Clock Town, “Deuce of Cauldron”. Everyone was surprised, and NRC studentes seemed confused.

The other delinquents whispered to each other. They talked about how Deuce was the one who beat five samll mines alone, defeated 100 armed men with his bare hands, and even if the polices in the city gathers, they wouldn’t stand against Deuce of Cauldron. Though, their whisperings could be heard by Deuce and Deuce denied all of those exaggerated rumors.

Ortho asked if it’s about the delinquent Epel talked before. Then Epel relized, “Duke of Scythe” (the spelling is the same as “Duke of Cauldron”) he heard was... again, Deuce denied that fact and said they were just misunderstanding. Ortho could detect Deuce’s vital signs fluctuating wildly, which means he was lying.

Deuce insisted it wasn’t him and even asked his mom to help. Dilla understood and said the Duke have moved and gone to school in the next town. Somehow, Epel believed that.

The Black Bunny’s leader seemed to admire Deuce and was convinced if they were to fight him, they would be torn apart. So he asked everyone to apologize to Dilla, and they apologized together.

(Note: the leader started calling Deuce by “Deuce-san”.)

Dilla forgave them since she could understand what it is to be young, but she reminded them to not bother other people. As long as it’s only between them, they can do whatever they like.

The leader was fascinated by Dilla’s generousity and told everyone to clean up Shirousa’s stall and left them. Grim was surprised by the change of their behavior and Ortho wondered if they were going to run around. Silver was sure they wouldn’t since Deuce’s guts had touched their heart.

Epel said so Rabbit Run Race wasn’t a waste, and Ortho came to understand that, he even said he’ll tell everything when he gave the souvenir to his brother.

Leader: “Deuce-san! No, Aniki!”

Somehow, the leader asked Deuce to make them his “little brothers”. Of course, Deuce refused because he won’t know how people will look at him if he does that. But the leader insisted Deuce to be their leader.

Deuce: “Do-don’t be kidding me! I’ve decided to change. I am... AN HONOR STUDENT!”

White Rabbit Festival of Queendom of Roses: Episode 5-3

Deuce played the trumpet, marking that he won the race. Everyone was cheering as watching him.

> “We won!!” Grim: “Nyaha! It feels good to win!” > “We beat the delinquents!” Grim: “Nyaha! They’ve got good spirit!”

Dilla: “Congratulations... Deuce...”

Finally, the Black Bunny reached the goal, followed by the other teams as well.

Deuce went back to the others. Everyone congratulated and thanked Deuce for winning the race.

> “You are so cool!” Deuce: “Really? If you praise me that much I’ll be embarassed.” > “Congratulations on winning!” Deuce: “It’s all thanks to support from [Prefect’s name] and the others.”

Though, Epel said the trumpet’s sound sounded horrible, and Ortho added it was because Deuce skipped music lesson back then. Deuce wished he could tell his past self that if he skip music lesson, he’ll be embarassed in the future. On the contrary, Silver praised Deuce as their leader. Deuce said it wasn’t him alone, everyone also gave their best to win.

Dilla asked if Deuce got any injury, and Deuce answered he’s used to that so it’s not a big deal. Dilla didn’t know what to say about that but praised him anyway and said he really could be relied on.

Deuce proceeded to say he’ll keep doing his best so Dilla can keep relying on him. Dilla thanked him but told him to not push himself too hard. Just seeing Deuce with his friends laughing, crying, getting angry, and going home sometimes, were enough to make her happy.

White Rabbit Festival of Queendom of Roses: Episode 5-2

Both Deuce and the leader have gone out of the maze. The last course was just a straight line, so it was just a matter of speed now. Both of them overlapped each other and eventually passed the other anchors.

Getting closer to the finish line, Deuce was ahead meanwhile the leader had gotten tired. Suddenly, Deuce said that the leader reminds him of his past self; always do everything half-heartedly, yelling with his friends, broke the rules, and laugh at it all. The leader couldn’t understand what Deuce was trying to say.

Deuce said he was changed and even entered to NRC. There, he did his best on his study and club everyday, little by little he’s changed.

Deuce: “As if myself such as that will lose in a sprint match with no mazes or traps!”

Finally, Deuce ran past the leader, leaving him alone. The leader couldn’t catch up anymore and whined if the pot didn’t appear, he might step Deuce for real. He fixed the “pot” into “cauldron” then realized something,

Deuce almost reached the stairs, and everyone cheered on him.

> “Do your best!!!” Grim: “Show your guts!” > “Please win!!!” Grim: “That’s right! You’ll definitely win!”

Dilla: “Deuce is running in Rabbit Run Race... and he’s trying so hard... even though until recently he skipped school and caused troubles for me and the others...”

Dilla: “......I’m so glad you got into Night Raven College.”

Dilla: “Deuce, go for it!!” Deuce: “Finally, I can see the goal!”

White Rabbit Festival of Queendom of Roses: Episode 5-1

Deuce kept running but he still couldn’t see any other participants. Then he met the dead end and should go back. He found a small door in the wall, and the door knob spoke to Deuce asking him if he wanted to pass through the door.

The path behind the door was a shortcut, but it was too small for Deuce. The door knob told Deuce if he eat a part, it will make him bigger and the other part will make him smaller. Deuce didn’t understand, and apparently what the door knob meant was a mushroom.

Deuce looked around and found a big mushroom. He remembered about the folklore where a girl took the end of a mushroom and ate it to make her bigger and smaller. The mushroom in front of Deuce was exactly like that, but the effect only lasts one minute.

At the start line, Silver had went back to the others. They talked about Deuce getting into weird trap. Epel said the mushroom was just like the cookie Grim ate the museum, but the one at museum was just to make Grim looked bigger, not exactly bigger.

Dilla said that trap was there a few years ago, but Deuce didn’t know it. It seems they really put some magic into the mushroom. People complained if such mushroom exist, people would finish the race immediately so it wasn’t really convenient. Ortho commented it must take a year to prepare this festival. Dilla added it seems the mushroom was really a trap.

Epel hoped Deuce won’t take the door knob’s word, but Silver replied the previous door knob really had a shortcut so they weren’t lying. Ortho wondered what decision Deuce would make.

Deuce was still thinking, if he kept being like this, the Black Bunny will win. So he decided to eat the mushroom. He took the both ends of mushroom and eat the right first. He became so big that he caught on the course’s hedge and the others even could see him. He eat the left one and became so much smaller, about 7 centimeters, that he could go through the door.

Finally Deuce was on the other side of the door and arrived at the wide road. He wondered what part of the course that was, and then hit a wall. Apparently, that wasn’t a wall, but the Black Bunny leader’s feet.

The leader noticed Deuce and was surprised. Deuce was confident now he caught up witht he leader, but the leader mocked and tried to step on Deuce. Deuce scolded him because that was dangerous, and the leader said he was just getting rid of an insect off his feet. Of course, that’s a dirty play, which the leader replied that he didn’t care and in the delinquent’s world, the strong one wins.

Deuce denied that and said there was a rule in the delinquent’s world, no one will follow a scumbag who can only imitate other people.

The leader kept attacking Deuce while Deuce was thinking about the solution. The situation was getting worse so Deuce was thinking he should get something big to protect him. Deuce summoned his cauldron and it protected him from the leader’s kicks.

Finally, Deuce returned to his original size, which made the leader upset.

White Rabbit Festival of Queendom of Roses: Episode 4-8

Black Bunny’s leader had started running, leaving Deuce and taking the 4th rank. While at that moment, Silver entered the Tea Party area where he run between models of table decorated with teapot and cup objects. Suddenly, one of the teapots sprayed some steam and made Silver barely can see.

The commentator thought it was the end of Silver, but Silver thought otherwise.

Silver: “Barely can see means I still can see slightly.”

Silver kept running as if he actually can see everything. He said compared to his daily training, it was no big deal and he was able to avoid other participants and the objects. Finally, he went out of the tea party area.

Silver reached the last leg, Deuce, and Deuce happily welcome him. Now they were in the 5th rank and the battle between anchors started.

White Rabbit Festival of Queendom of Roses: Episode 4-7

Silver finally got out the Inside Maze and reached the Outside Maze. Epel also had returned to the start line to join the others. Dilla appreciated Epel and Epel thanked her. Grim pointed out about when Epel spoke differently.

Epel: “Don’t tell Vil-san, okay!!!”

Dilla pointed to Silver and said he looked so full of hope. While Silver ran as fast as possible, he suddenly got drowsy and fell asleep. Of course, this made everyone surprised and panicked. Epel asked Ortho what should they do. Ortho asnwered he had many function to wake him up but no beam can reach that far.

Epel: “B-Beam?! That’s too straightforward!”

Though, according to Ortho, that was just one of means. Grim said Silver didn’t seem to wake up at all.

Epel: “W-What should we do, [Prefect’s name]-san?!”

> “Wake up—!” Grim: “Even if you shout from this distance, there’s no way it’ll reach him!” > “Let’s believe!” Epel: “That’s right! Silver will surely wake up!”

Epel, followed by Ortho, Grim, and Dilla, started to shouting to wake Silver up. On the fourth leg, Deuce also shouted to wake SIlver up as well.

Under his uncosciousness, Silver heard distant voices and he finally woke up. Apparently, the voices were from his alarm clock.

After being waken up by his alarm, Silver started to run with his all might. Everyone was glad to see Silver finally woke up. Grim thought all their voices reached Silver, but Ortho explained it was because of Silver’s alarm clock.

Now they wondered why the alarm clock rung at that time. Grim remembered he set it to 6 o’clock, then Ortho reminded him that Grim set it falsely to be 16 o’clock instead. To put it short, Grim’s mistake just saved them.

White Rabbit Festival of Queendom of Roses: Episode 4-6

Ortho returned to the start line where Dilla, Grim, and Prefect stayed. Dilla asked if Ortho’s body is alright. Ortho answered, his condition wasn’t perfect but he just done an emergency maintenance so he was fine. Ortho also planned to fix it properly once they got back to school since he did all the way to create Rabbit Gear.

They turned to the monitor and Epel was still running around on the same place and meeting the dead end. Epel found a door and the door knob talked to him.

The door knob said Epel was the 10th person to arrive. Then it told Epel behind the door was a shortcut. Epel got suspicious so he asked amongst those 10 people, how many who opened the door and the answer was none. Epel gave a thought if he should take the shortcut or not.

On the start line, Grim wondered why Epel didn’t take the shortcut. Dilla said that was the better decision since there must be a trap. Ortho added that according to his brother, “Dungeon is only complete after you go through all the traps”.

Epel was still thinking whether he should give a go or not since he didn’t want to lose to Black Bunny. In the end, Epel decided to open the door. Deuce, who was still watching the monitor, praised Epel for having courage to open the door.

Epel could hear Silver’s voice so he became more convinced behind the door was indeed a shortcut. When Epel opened the door, he could hear strange noise.

Suddenly, big wave came out and flooded the path. The current was so fast that Epel couldn’t run at all. He was thinking to turn around and return to normal course, but...

On the third leg, the Black Bunny has done the trumpet touch and they moved to 6th rank. Epel saw that then became more fired up and even bringing up about how they did Ortho dirty. And so, Epel went through the wave.

Finally, Epel arrived at the third leg and did trumpet touch with Silver. Epel yelled out so loud about defeating Black Bunny and make them cry in his dialect, which Silver didn’t understand at all but Epel’s feelings still went through Silver. Now they were on 7th rank.

White Rabbit Festival of Queendom of Roses: Episode 4-5

Finally Ortho caught up with the others and even met one of Black Bunny. Suddenly a few participants screamed because there were traps. The traps are hidden pitfall. Ortho scanned the ground and can detect where the pitfalls are.

Just when Ortho moved 30 cm to the right, he was pushed by Black Bunny. Since Rabbit Gear doesn’t have flying function, Ortho made a big jump to get out of the hole using the new function; rabbit jump. After Ortho jumped, there was a crack on the Rabbit Gear’s exterior. There was also damage on the inside, which made Ortho had hard time running.

Black Bunny has arrived at the second leg, and they were on 7th rank. Finally, Ortho met Epel and did the trumpet touch. They were on position 11th out of 15th teams. Deuce asked Epel to run on Ortho’s behalf as he watched them from the monitor

Epel with all his might but apparently he was running around in the same place.

White Rabbit Festival of Queendom of Roses: Episode 4-4

The start line was already crowded, the participants were more than Ortho expected. There were adults and children participants wearing the bunny ears. After looking around for a bit, Ortho found the Black Bunny. The Black Bunny saw Ortho and underestimated him for looking like a child.

Ortho: “I wonder if it’s okay to say that?” Delinquent A: “Huh?” Ortho: “Do you know the term ‘Losing Flag’? If you don’t know, I recommend you to search it up now.”

On the second leg, Epel met another Black Bunny member. The Black Bunny member underestimated him since he looked cute and ended up both of them argued verbally.

On the third leg, a Black Bunny member saw Silver who was very calm and asked if he was scared.

Silver: “Are you worried about me? Thank you.”

Of course the Delinquent didn’t mean that, and Silver asked for fair game to him.

On the fourth leg, Deuce saw the others already got into a fight with Black Bunny through the monitor. Then he resolved they gotta win the race.

The race almost begun and the announcer started talking. They pointed that there were a lot of participants and few of them were from Night Raven College, which Deuce didn’t expect they’ll announce it.

Black Bunny’s leader tried to pick a fight with Deuce by calling him an honor student. Instead of get offended, Deuce was like

Deuce: “Me, an honor student?! Do I seem like that?! Can you say it more?!”

Now back to the start line. Ortho started to walk like a rabbit jumping. Unfortunately, he was overtaken by the other teams since his Rabbit Gear moved slower than usual. The leader tried to trigger Deuce by asking him if he really left the first leg to a child, which answered by Deuce to not underestimate Ortho. The announcer said the first leg runner have started to get into the Inside Maze.

On the Inside Maze, Ortho was going around to get to the second leg but he kept encountered the dead end. Using system, Ortho analysed which route he should take.

Ortho: “Somehow it feels like a game’s dungeon, it’s so fun!”

Ortho has back to the right route and steadily catching up with the other teams. The Leader was upset since he thinks Ortho has good memory and asked Deuce if he chose Ortho because he has a good memory, but no, Deuce answered it was because he just wanted it.

White Rabbit Festival of Queendom of Roses: Episode 4-3

The scene started by Grim leading them to warm up. He started from rotating the arms, legs, neck, and lastly tail.

Silver, Deuce, Epel: “...we don’t have it!!” Grim: “Funa?”

Grim told them to keep following him, and they stopped since it’s impossible. So they stretched by themselves.

It was 10 minutes before the relay starts and the announcer asked the participants to move to their relay station. Just in case, Deuce adjusted the pocket watch on his costume. It wasn’t a replacement for running watch, but it was much easier to know the time. Silver also wear the watch he bought. Ortho’s Rabbit Gear already has clock function.

Epel was about to adjut the time, but his costume didn’t have a watch. Apparently, the clock was on Epel’s back since it was supposed to be decoration. Though, they still can run even without knowing the time so Deuce told Epel to not worry.

There were monitors at start line and relay stations, so the video of race will be broadcasted and non-runners can see it.

Deuce: “The thought of being watched by your friends makes me feel spirited!” Epel: “Yes. I’ll root for everyone as I watch the monitors!”

Dilla added that the monitors show the correct course inside the maze, ranking, and the distance from finish line. It’ll allow the others to cheer on the participants.

When they were about to go to their relay stations, Dilla asked if they were going to make a circle and shout. Deuce answered, no they weren’t. Epel added that even in clubs and classes, everyone is scattered and just doing everything on each own. Though, Prefect and Grim are different case, according to Deuce.

Dilla begged them to do it since it’s exciting and high school student-like, and also will be a good memory for the future. Deuce and Epel semed hesitant, but Silver asked them to do it. So they formed a circle.

Deuce: “[Prefect’s name] and Grim should join too!” Grim: “Of course!”

Everyone is ready, but... no one shouted first. Deuce asked SIlver why didn’t he start it, and Silver thought it supposed to be Deuce. Deuce can’t reject Silver’s word so he was about to do it, but get interfered by Grim.

Grim: “You guys! Run all you might for me!”

> “Ooo!” Grim: “Funa?! Only [Prefect’s name] who does it?!” > “That’s a bit...” Grim: “Why isn’t following?!”

Deuce said it more suited if Silver, the second year, who does it. But Silver said Deuce is their leader. The others agreed since the one who decided to join the race was Deuce.

> “It’s a big responsibility!” Deuce: “Yeah, is it okay for someone like me?” > “So cool!” Deuce: “Easy for you to say...”

Silver called Deuce leader, which made Deuce finally convinced. Epel asked Deuce to command them, and Deuce said they’ll definitely defeat their opponent, which was followed by the others’ loud voice.

White Rabbit Festival of Queendom of Roses: Episode 4-2

Deuce continued telling the rules.

Fourth, the most important rule, the course has trap.

Dilla added there are a lot of hidden trap that a lot of paritcipants chose to retire instead of finishing the race. The traps always change every year. Having fun is the top priority so they aren’t dangerous. Dilla once trapped in a big teapot and had jam smeared on her nose. Each trap is elaborated and interesting. Silver could see it’s the race takes a lot of effort and Grim added the committee doing too hard.

Those are the special rules, and of course, just like normal relay, they could only pass the trumpet—to hand the baton—on the designated station and violence is prohibited.

Epel: “Tch, you mean we can’t get into fist fight with Black Bunny?” Ortho: “......were you going to fight them?” Deuce: “Indeed they’re annoying, but we can’t fight during the race, okay?!” Epel: “I-I know!” *whisper* “...it depends on how they behave though.”

Dilla seemed to be so excited of this race and this is the first time she felt this excited. She even wanted to take pictures and send them to Deuce’s grandmother.

Ortho wondered if they can win since if they lose, they have to pay 100,000 madol. Dilla believed Deuce can do it, moreover he’s got reliable friends. They got spirited, Grim said he and Prefect will support them, and Deuce thanked them.

Grim asked if there’s any prize for the winning team. Deuce answered the prize is trumpet, which dissapointed Grim. Ortho commented it’s not a trophy or something like that. Deuce added that every year has supplementary prize associated with the White Rabbit. Last year, it was red waistcoat and black umbrella.

Grim: “Then this year might be canned tuna!” Deuce: “Canned tuna has nothing to do with White Rabbit.”

Deuce was about to go to the committee to register them, and Dilla reminded they have to decide the running order first. Ortho immediately proposed himself as the first runner. Epel was a bit disappointed because he wanted to fight off Black Rabbit as soon as possible, so he decided to be the second runner. Silver proposed to be the third runner so Deuce could be anchor.

And so, Deuce went to the register them.

White Rabbit Festival of Queendom of Roses: Episode 4-1

Grim asked when is the Rabbit Run Race and it was actually an hour to go. They still can submit until 30 minutes before the race. Dilla said it was because the committee want as many teams as possible to participate. Deuce started explaining the Rabbit Run Race. It’s a 4-person relay with some special rules.

First, they aren’t allowed to take off their bunny ears, because the race was originated from the White Rabbit who ran fay and night for the Queen of Hearts. Dilla added it’s also to make the race more lively.

Second, instead of passing baton, they had to do trumpet touch. Deuce pointed to the White Rabbit topiary which it held a trumpet and remind the others about the importance of trumpet. To follow the folklore, the participants dress as White Rabbit run while holding a trumpet. The last runner have to blow the trumpet when they cross the finish line. Again, Dilla said it’ll make the race more lively.

Third—Deuce asked them to follow him first.

They moved to the Race Venue where they can see a maze. Epel wondered which one is bigger compared to Heartslabyul’s maze. Silver asked if they used wall of hedges to create the path and Dilla replied other than gardens, Queendom of Roses also have so many hedge mazes.

Now, the third rule, the race will be held in this maze.

Of course, everyone was surprised. Dilla commented it will be boring if the fastest person wins, which Epel understand indeed it’ll make the race more lively.

Silver pointed to a certain pink building and Deuce said there was a maze inside that building too. In the distant, there was something like a tower. That tower is the finish line.

Ortho was sure the locals must know the route very well, but no, every year they change the route before the race is being held.
