I think some people forget that some literature and some media is meant to be deeply uncomfortable and unsettling. It's meant to make you have a very visceral reaction to it. If you genuinely can't handle these stories then you are under no obligation to consume them but acting as if they have no purpose or as if people don't have a right to tell these stories, stories that often relate to the darkest or most disturbing parts of life, then you should do some introspection.

i love characters who lie. i love when a character is established as a capital L Liar and then we as the audience can’t take anything they say at face value. i love liars fakers schemers deceivers. characters whose tongues are outright necrotic with the rot of their lies. characters to whom truth is a stranger. i am kissing them on the lips btw it tastes disgusting

Anybody got good resources on love in the horror genre? Not romance, love. Any kind of love. Every kind of love.
But I want something that talks about the genre as a whole, rather than focusing on a specific story.
(this is not for my YA superhero thing, though that's kind of got some horror elements. This is for my mecha body horror thing.
Alternately, anybody wanna ramble at me about love in the horror genre?
RBs appreciated, as always.
