Some songs are worth listening to at least once. I think this is one of them.

Zia - Still Life A song for the long cold winter days…I wrote it in Sydney Australia, so warm, veranda doors wide open, lover just left…some things just stick with you and you can't but make something of it.

At a Window
… Let me go to the window,
Watch there the day-shapes of dusk
And wait and know the coming
Of a little love.

I adore This woman. On Hard days, she makes me remember what empowered feels like !
Dominique Christina — “The Period Poem”
I was lucky enough to see this woman perform live on campus. Nothing compares to being front (third) row to her words, but even as I watch and rewatch a fuzzy YouTube rendering of this performance, the chills keep on coming. Whoo. Watch and listen.

Following the disappearance of forty-three high-school students in Mexico, Francisco Goldman writes:
The country seems to be trembling at the edge of a terrible cataclysm or, for the hopeful, an inspiring transformation.

Yes !!!
Be Drunk
Charles Baudelaire, 1821 - 1867
You have to be always drunk. That’s all there is to it—it’s the only way. So as not to feel the horrible burden of time that breaks your back and bends you to the earth, you have to be continually drunk.
But on what? Wine, poetry or virtue, as you wish. But be drunk.
And if sometimes, on the steps of a palace or the green grass of a ditch, in the mournful solitude of your room, you wake again, drunkenness already diminishing or gone, ask the wind, the wave, the star, the bird, the clock, everything that is flying, everything that is groaning, everything that is rolling, everything that is singing, everything that is speaking…ask what time it is and wind, wave, star, bird, clock will answer you: “It is time to be drunk! So as not to be the martyred slaves of time, be drunk, be continually drunk! On wine, on poetry or on virtue as you wish.”

it rained today.
i took a drive.
people get born.
people get high.
people get mail.
people get cancer.
people get lucky.
people get tests.
people get flowers.
people get jailed.
people get surprised.
people get shot.
people get trapped.
people get honored.
people get lost.
people get busy.
people get sainted.
people get abortions.
people get frustrated.
people get on with it.
it rained today.
i took a drive.
i took this shot.
i didn’t die.

I want to make things, make art, make sounds, make things grow, go to that edge, look at the Me I think I am and pull it apart and put it together again just a little bit differently and with a little less glue just in case and continue making conversations with strangers on the bus and forget their names but not their faces, and not their words or their wisdom, and i want to collect all the wonder and beauty and bring it home and pour it into my daughter's cup and have her sip it between meals and watch as she becomes one big radiant smile.
