Sooo, another piece I made.  This one came to mind just I finished year five and this one scene stuck with me
If you haven't finished that year, SPOILERS!!
But yeah, after returning from the Vault and Rakepick's betrayal, Merula is just lying there on the ground trying to be her tough self but she fails and what does she say to MC?
Just... distract me. From... everything"
We had just ended our rivalry with Merula and she suffered from her greatest betrayal yet. The only one she could count on for just a bit of sanity was us, at least that was her first instinct
For me the battle was brutal. We fought a damn dragon and pieces of the roof just fell on them! Of course there would be bruises, so I wanted to represent how I felt this heart-wrenching scene

Hogwarts Mystery- I trusted you
Game: Hogwarts Mystery
WARNING!!
This short story contains not your usual fluff, but angst and also, spoilers for Year 6 Chapter 42!! So do NOT read it until you've experienced it for yourself
Although I’m pretty sure you’d know who am I talking about in this post
--------------------------------------------------
I trusted you
When you first showed yourself in Hogwarts, disguised as a teacher, I felt beyond excited
We were no longer alone in this race, our friends could rely on an adult to help us into the Cursed Vaults, I could rely on someone without risking them getting hurt for the first time
I was finally taking steps in the right direction
I trusted you
When you saved my life to prove yourself as someone worthy of joining the war against the mysterious "R", and even so when you started helping us to find that Vault and break the sleepwalking curse
I trusted you
Upon learning from you that the fourth curse was related to a portrait, I went through an ungodly amount of tasks based purely on what you said. Isolating myself from my friends to focus on the Vault
But also growing closer to Bill and Merula, with whom I had the first instance of pure comradery after years of unnecessary fights and insults
I couldn't believe it
When I felt myself being hit by a cruel spell from your wand. Facing a dragon by myself, reuniting with my brother after years of searching for him, and yet, it was what you said what stayed with me the most
For the first time, I felt completely powerless, as I saw you leave the Vault in a hurry, with the glare of a murderer
I was lost
After everything lost sense and everyone's light abandoned their heart. After their words turned into destain and hurt
What started as a quest to find my brother turned into a race to free the school from its worse curse yet and stopping a group of murderous, crazed wizards and witches
But most importantly, an opportunity to cause you as much harm as you caused us. You destroyed us, you fragmented us, you...broke me
After I lost my best friend and I saw you there, I knew
I knew I had to trust you to appear again
I trusted you once again
I trusted my memories of you to drive me into finding the Vault as soon as humanly possible, no, even faster
I trusted my hatred of you and overwhelming guilt to guide my every decision into the vault. Together with a group of all my allies, friends, and acquaintances, we made it our mission to finish this, all of it
Every single one of us, coming after you
I trusted you
When I heard from my brother that your group was frantic due to my actions and reckless pursuit of the last Vault. I knew I would see you again
My wand was anxious to put an end to you, perhaps not take your life, but to at least get an opportunity to return all of the damage you caused us
I had thought of myself as a better being for turning my rage into motivation to defeat all the evil that plagued my school, my second home
But when I finally saw you in the vault, the darkness in me came to the surface. All of it
Like a child throwing a tantrum over a toy, you demanded that I let you into the final Vault, even when I disarmed you in the hardest duel of my life
When I simply stepped aside and allowed you into the Vault, knowing what awaited for you in there
I trusted you
When you walked into the room, not even caring to pick up your wand, I knew that your demise was at hand
Not the mercy of a killing curse, nor the Dementors in Azkaban, but the same fate that you prepared for my brother all those years ago
I trusted your ego to be the end of you
...And it was

Raven x Reader- Christmas!
DC Comics (Comics, not the movies)
A/N: This is a small one-shot collection, with the theme being the holidays!
I don’t own any of the images, they’re just so you can identify the characters easier. I couldn’t fit her with the other posts, so Raven gets her own post!
CHARACTERS:
-RAVEN/ RACHEL ROTH
Tumblr media
It was a cold day for the tower the Titans made their home. Snow piled up around it, even some of the trees were slightly covered
But it wasn't a problem, for every member of the team remained inside the building. Different from most of the days, they were not training or handing out missions
No, they were in a team-building exercise...or so they called it
Truth to be told, the team was having a Christmas party, and a lot of young superheroes, some from different factions attended it. The tower itself was big enough to host a party, but it sure felt a bit crowded
Especially if you were someone who liked to have her own space like Rachel was
She was in her room trying to read something. At first, she was out there with the rest of the team, but she had worn out relatively quickly
As she tried to read the same paragraph for the fifth time, her eyes were squinting in an attempt to remain focused and when she managed to finish the line, she felt an incredible sense of relief
...one that died down as soon as the music got louder
That's when she finally snapped. Aggressively, she stood up and her hands were even glowing with that black energy of hers
"That's it"
She thought, she would bring an end to those who dared to disturb her reading, but that's when it hit her:
Maybe it wasn't the others who were the problem, maybe she would be comfortable in a different environment?
Putting that same energy to use, she opened a portal and grabbed hee book before pulling up her hood and finally entering the portal
She wasn't sure where it would lead, but she did know that it would take her to the only other person who would understand her (probably)
And that would be you
The other side of the portal led to a swamp in Louisiana at night. No source of light could be seen right of the bat as the fog was too dense
Luckily, she was floating, otherwise, she would be in the mud
"What the... Why would they be in here?"
Rachel looked around to see if there was anything that would help her navigate through the scenery when she heard a voice in the distance
Someone was chanting in a different language
Without thinking it twice, she slowly approached the voice, the more she did, the clearer it got... until it stopped completely
Before she even got the time to question this, a large vine appeared from the water below and wrapped around her tightly, just enough to keep her from suffocating
The fog became weaker and from it emerged a figure. She could feel it glaring at her even if she couldn't see its eyes
"Hell of a night you chose to spy on me"
She recognized your voice perfectly and directed all her effort into her voice
"I...I j-just wanted to read"
Such a bizarre answer weakened your grip on her, then you saw the book she was holding and concluded that she wasn't lying
Rachel was never much of a liar anyway
And so, you put her on the ground gently, on the dry one, that is
In front of her, you sat down, sighing
"I'm sorry about that, Rachel. You know I love your company, but you kinda showed up in the middle of something
When the goth looked up, she saw a bunch of candles around a circle and various weird ingredients like feathers, skulls, and even an eye
A giant tree served as shelter, but what struck Rachel the most, was that all the objects pointed towards a floating figure
This figure was a ghost
"Y/N? Who is this?" The ghost asked in a calm, intrigued tone
"This, mom, is Rachel"
...Wait, mom?
Rachel had now put the pieces together: The intense fog keeping you cloaked, your immediate attack and even the objects in the ritual
You were communicating with your mother
"Oh? This is the charming girl you told me about?"
She felt her cheeks getting warm as soon as she heard that, getting up immediately and dusted herself off
"I-I'm sorry for interrupting you, Y/N. I'll leave you to it"
She turned around to leave, but she was stopped by your voice just after a couple of steps
"Rachel"
She looked back at you, holding her book close to her chest
"You already crashed it, why don't you stay a bit longer?"
She was surprised by this proposal. She knew you weren't one to openly invite people to something that would end in chaos, but this? This was just so personal
"Are you sure about it?"
What she found more surprising about the whole situation was how calm you were about it, as expressed by your hand reaching out for her
"Why not? Besides, mom is curious about you"
She couldn't help but smile at this and after thinking about it, she took your hand and got back to the scene to properly introduce herself to the ghost that was before her
Rachel was hoping to get away from the loudness of the tower by escaping to see you, but she was not expecting you to be doing something so personal and even better, to invite her to stay
But somehow, it felt good, like she belonged there, talking to this small, strange family
...but with a genuine smile

Tumblr media
Christmas, one of the most peaceful days of the year...or at least in Gotham
As someone who made a living out of being a henchman for various supervillains, you were up to date with the new job offers every time one came up
But for Christmas, not much would arise, and even if it did, you wouldn't take it, if there was one day you wouldn't work, was this one
Instead, you chose to spend it with your younger sister, the little one who was the cause for all your doings in the first place
She was so happy when you brought her a gift, and you were too when you saw a few family members in the room as well. They welcomed you and once the girl fell asleep, they said that they could handle it from there
They were good people, but it's just that you had never been told that before, and it wasn't like you didn't have any plans, it's just that, well, you didn't have any plans
But fortunately, the day was far from over and you ultimately chose to visit the one other person who left a mark on your life as well
Taking a taxi cab to Wayne Manor, you were welcomed by the butler, who also welcomed you with open arms. This was no coincidence, you were a frequent visitor of the place thanks to tbe people living in it so you were basically a friend at this point
However, while he was being polite, you could sense some relief upon seeing you there
"Is everything alright, Alfred? You look a bit worried"
"Well, you see sir/ma'am, Miss Cassandra won't stop training and while normally that would be alright, it's the holidays. I would like her to go out and enjoy the city when it's not attempting to kill her"
He sounded almost fatherly in his words, genuine concern was there but fortunately, you had arrived to help just with that
"Then I'll take her for a walk in the city, if that's okay with you"
"I wouldn't trust anyone else with it. You're the one who gets along so well with her"
"Give yourself some credit, Alfred"
The man couldn't help but chuckle at this. Shortly after this exchange, he stopped walking to announce that you had arrived at to what could very well be the mansion's gym and inside you found Cassandra herself, training
"Miss Cassandra, you have a visitor"
She stopped her actions to greet the butler, but once she heard what he had to say, her gaze shifted to see you and when she did, she rushed towards you
Cassandra gave you a hug, and a tight one at that
"Missed you"
It was hard to believe this was the same girl who was beating the crap out of a punching bag. Chuckling, you hugged her back
When the act was over, you directed her attention to a wrapped box you brought along with you
"I bought you a little something. I hope you don't have ones already"
"Even if she did, I got a feeling that she'll cherry your gift more, sir/ma'am"
The butler added, those comments were quite reassuring
"Thanks, Alfred"
He nodded as Cassandra opened the box, a smile appeared on her face when she saw a brand new pair of boxing gloves. She held them and even gave a couple of punches with them
"I love them. Thank you, Y/N!"
Another hug was in order, but this was to be expected, Cassandra was much more of an action person. Words never quite cut it
She then directed her attention to the butler in a child-like manner
"Alfred. Can I go out with Y/N?"
The man looked at you and smiled remembering the talk you just had with him and nodded
"Certainly. Do enjoy the night"
Cass smiled and left the room to get something warmer, leaving you two alone for a short while. When she was back, she had black winter clothes, she looked kind of cute, really
And so, you left the manor with Cassandra, happy to go out and explore with you. You'd spend a while walking down the streets with Cassandra, holding her hand as you guided her through this new perspective
She could see the snow falling down, people walking along with their family or friends, lovers sharing a drink in the comfortable warmth of a restaurant. You even stopped at a park with a frozen lake, where the people were handed ice skates to enjoy it
Needless to say, she was amazingly good at keeping her balance and moving almost gracefuly through the lake
The city had many wonders, but her reaction to them was perhaps the greatest of them all. You could tell that she wasn't used to simply go out for a walk, and she wouldn't just go out like that, but this time she chose to act differently
And that's because she was with you
Barbara Gordon/ Batgirl
Tumblr media
"You should have seen his face when I told him that a cheetah and a jaguar aren't the same animals!"
Following that statement, you shared a laugh with your uncle Kirk, who was on the other side of the glass. Fortunately, it was just you, him and the guards in the room, so your laughter wasn't much of an issue
Currently, you were visiting your uncle, Kirk Langstrom, who was residing in Arkham Asylum for the time being
"My God, you sure are a busy fellow, Y/N" He said while recovering his breath from laughter
"And what about you? How are you doing, uncle Kirk?"
"Much better, they say I'll be out of here in three months if I don't cause an incident"
"That's great! You're practically good to go!"
"As long as they don't start talking biology, that is"
Another laugh followed that, but then you felt a guard touching your shoulder. Being a frequent visitor ar Arkham, you knew what did that mean
So you put your hand on the glass without fading away your smile
"It was great to see you, uncle Kirk"
The man returned the gesture and placed his hand, smiling gently
"You too, Y/N. Merry Christmas"
With a nod, you placed the telephone back on its place as a guard escorted you outside safely. The man had somehow managed to be in this asylum for almost a year now and he hadn't changed or at least gotten worse since his last incident as "Man-bat"
You visited him as often as possible, and how easy was to engage in conversation with you seemed to help the man
Upon walking out the main gate, you sighed. As much as you tried to keep him company, the holidays without your uncle would certainly feel... different, especially when your parents lived in another continent
You took out some earphones and set some music to accompany your journey back home, it worked on getting you cheered up all the way to the bus, sitting next to a window so you could see the snowy place that had become Gotham
In the middle of a song, however, a voice announced that you had a call from someone that, while unexpected, brought a smile to your face. Pausing the song, you chose to accept the call
"Hey, Babs, what's up?"
"Hey Y/N. You busy?"
"No, what's up?"
"Well, you left school so fast I didn't even got to say goodbye to you"
You facepalmed when you heard that. It was true, you left in such a hurry just to get to Arkham in time, but completely forgot to say goodbye to your friends for the holidays
"My bad, sorry about that"
"Don't worry, but that's not the only thing I wanted to talk about"
"Shoot"
"Well, I-"
"Did you tell them?"
Another voice interrupted Barbara, who gave a muffled answer. By the looks of it, she was with someone else
"Sorry about that. So I wanted to tell-"
"Y/N, get your ass here!"
"Yeah, we need our friend!"
This time, there were two other voices. This was unusual for sure, but oddly amusing
Laughter was inevitable from you, especially since you knew perfectly who the voices belonged to
"Alright, where to?" You heard a sigh before being given an answer
"Naomi's house" This time, it was Barbara who finally replied
"Alright, I'm on my way"
You ended the call to spare Babs from having her call highjacked again, making you chuckle once again
Before, you didn't really have any plans for the day, but your friends thought otherwise. Fortunately, Naomi's house was about three stops from your current location
During your stay at the Academy (which is still going), you have made quite the circle of friends. From jocks to chess champions, you are just about the most diverse group of friends in the school, and it made for some unique adventures as well
Stepping out of the bus and into the front yard, you rang the doorbell. A couple seconds passed before it was opened to reveal a smiling redhead with glasses
"Y/N, you're here!"
This girl approached you to give you a hug. This was Barbara herself
"You're just in time!" She said, dragging you inside as she held your hand
As soon as you stepped inside, everyone stopped whatever they were doing and cheered your name in unison. Inside the house were your friends, both close and casual, but they were all glad to see you
"Ahem!"
A female voice called for everyone's silence. From the crowd, a brunette walked through and stopped next to you, wrapping her arm around your shoulders, this was Naomi herself
"I heard you were going to Grinch out and spend Christmas alone, Y/N"
"I...I don't know, maybe?"
The crowd booed in a joking response, Naomi motioned them to stop
"That's why I called EVERYONE here, so we can light up your day!"
"Yeah, you're our friend, Y/N!" Someone else joined from across the room
Naomi then looked back at you, giving you somewhat of a more serious look
"We are here for you, but whether you want to stay with us or go out on your own it's your choice. We'll respect it"
You thought about it for a moment. Not about your choice, but wondering just how did your friend managed to gather everyone in one place without you knowing it and still invite you in the end
Someone told Naomi you didn't have any plans. Gossip's not that bad, but the fact that she actually chose to act on it?
It was... just so kind of her, of them
You took a drink near you and raised it to the air, looking at the crowd with a smile
"I guess I'm spending Christmas with my friends"
They cheered in approval of this and soon enough the party continued. You were soon offered a drink and the party continued as it was before, even some people asked you to join a tournament of air hockey they had going on.
As you took a moment to think about how any of this was even possible, you came to the conclusion that only one person could have known about this and started this event, and she was talking to somebody else at the moment
Choosing to be sneaky, you walked up behind her and held her hand, intertwining it with yours. She was taken off-guard by this gesture but then turned around to face you with an intrigued look in her eyes
"Thank you, Babs" You said with a smile of your own
The redhead then gave you a smile and tightened the bond between your hands
"That's the thing, Y/N"
She whispered while placing her hands above your chest to peck your lips, much to everyone's amusement
"You'll never have to be alone"
Kendra Saunders/ Hawkgirl
Tumblr media
Christmas trees were often the strongest symbols of the festivity, and for a good reason, but never had you been assigned the task of decorating one so...big
You were in the Watchtower, the real home of the Justice League and where most of the members spent the time, when not dealing with an individual crisis, of course
As Kendra's partner and an actual ally of the league, you were welcomed aboard and now, you and a couple of other heroes were decorating the massive Christmas tree that was in one of their main rooms
Something with such a size seemed a bit too much, but when you take a look at the size of the space station you were in, it fitted just fine
Concentration was key in this task, but the moment a branch you were using for support gave in, you were suddenly thrown down
As a pilot and soldier, you weren't nearly as terrified of this as you could have, but there was a bigger reason for your lack of fear
The exact same reason that had just caught you in her arms, smirking
Taking a good look at her, you moved her hair out of the way as you cupped her cheek with a smile
"Thanks, angel"
This earned a warm smile from her. She wasn't too sure of the nickname, but she was getting used to it
"Now you see why I told you to use the platform?" She said putting you down safely
"You know I like the thrill"
She couldn't help but chuckle at your attitude and decided to go with it
"Don't dwell too much on it, maybe I'll decide not to catch you one of these days"
After successfully decorating the tree (using the suggested platform this time), there was an event, dinner, dance, and everything. It was mind-blowing, to be honest, but it also served as a reminder that those people were human beings
Well, human where it matters anyway
Kendra, however, wasn't much of a dancer. You knew this first hand, and that's why you grabbed two drinks and headed towards one of the halls
There she was, in all her beauty without her uniform and with something lightly formal but as stunning as she was, her gaze was so distant
She was staring at the window, looking at what would normally be a breathtakingly good view of Earth, but something wasn't right
Taking advantage of this and attempting to ease things off for her, you approached her gently and kissed your partner's cheek
"What are you doing out here all alone? I know you don't like dances, but I don't think it's that bad"
She laughed at your comment, turning around to face you and grab the drink that was supposed to be hers, taking a sip
"Something on your mind?"
She nodded, returning her gaze to the window
"It's just that... As a member of the league, you get to save the planet (and sometimes the universe) so often, but this whole celebration thing, it just feels..."
"Weird?"
"Exactly. I mean, I want to enjoy it, but I don't know if I should"
Leaning on a handrail nearby, she sighed in defeat, or at least until she felt your hand on her shoulder
"I know the feeling, like you should be out there on patrol, regardless of the day"
Her eyes might not have changed direction, but Kendra was listening to you
"But that's the thing about days like this, you get to enjoy some of what you are fighting for, it serves as a reminder that in the end...
Now it was you who was looking out the window
"...it's all worth it"
The girl leaned closer to you, placing her head on your shoulder, and your head gently over hers
"There's nothing wrong with wanting to enjoy it if anything you deserve this more than anyone"
You took a step back and raised your drink, with the attitude of a host accompanying the gesture
"Here's to Kendra Saunders. Leaguer, a savior of the planet and one hell of a girlfriend"
You could tell she was surprised by this gesture, but she soon joined you by raising her glass
"And here's to Y/N L/N. Pilot, soldier and the best partner I could ask for"
She made the drinks clink as the custom indicates and without further due, you drank together
Once that was over, she was the one to cup your face, looking at you in the eye and filled with gratitude
"Thank you, Y/N. I needed that"
Helena Bertinelli/ Huntress
Tumblr media
The Mafia might be questionable in and of itself, but they were not monsters
...not all of them at least
That's what this party was for: both a peace offering and an opportunity to enjoy something without the fear of getting murdered
Oh, and also to enjoy the holidays
It's not necessary that you take a partner to this kind of events, but this year you wanted to take someone who quickly became important to you. She was currently next to you in the inside of the vehicle
There she was, with her black hair loose in contrast with her purple dress and of course, her beautiful blue eyes to top it all off
"I still don't know how to feel about this"
She was still trying to get comfortable in her dress. This was more of an act of nervousness since the clothes fit her perfectly
Although you had to admit, watching the fierce vigilante be so uneasy was... intriguing, to say the least
"And why is that?"
She sighed in defeat before finally looking at you with a hint of shame
"Wanna hear a secret?"
You nodded and asked her to continue, which she reluctantly agreed
"It's been years since I've been to a dance, I don't even remember how to do it"
It seemed so simple, you couldn't help but chuckle before giving her a reassuring smile
"Don't you worry, I'll guide you through"
She was taken off-guard by the calm in which you said that
"How can you be so sure about it?
You took a sip before answering her, not losing the smile
"You'll find out when the time comes. Have some faith in me"
Nothing more was said after that. Truth to be told, you had taught a few people how to dance before, the first of them being your sister when she was fifteen and a couple lovers too, so you had some experience
After a couple of minutes, you arrived at the place where the event would take place. The door was opened and you stepped out of the vehicle, lending Helena a hand so she could do the same and with her arm wrapped around yours, you made your way inside
Multiple families were attending the party. Mostly adults, but there were also children, lovers, and friends in there
You were invited to give the opening speech as a way to officially begin the event. It wasn't much of a surprise since you were one of the main backers of the party, seeing as a much-needed break from the usual violence
And so, you walked up to the main stage, with a glass in hand
"Ladies and gentlemen, it is my honor to be the one who welcomes all of you to this event that serves as a reminder that we might be from different families, backgrounds, and whatnot"
You looked around to confirm this. These people came from all around the world, yet they were under the same roof for the night
"And while it is so easy to hate each other over that, the only reason not to do so is because we are human"
With confidence in your words, you raised the glass you were holding
"And tonight we are here to celebrate that, in this peaceful night without any bloodshed, I sincerely wish you all to have a wonderful time"
A round of applause took place as the guests raised their drinks as well and you all shared a drink together, even Helena joined the act. Once you were done talking, the band began playing their wonderful ambiance music
The party had officially begun
Walking back to your table, you found Helena herself, smirking at you
"Hell of a speech you gave. You sure you wouldn't be better as a politician?"
You couldn't help but laugh at the statement, picking up another drink you were offered
"Tempting, but we both know that this line of work is much more honest"
"Ironically, yeah"
You sat down and enjoyed the drinks, soon enough the main dishes were served and the event had managed to continue uninterrupted so far. Seems like that vigilante you paid to keep the event clean was really doing a good job
After a couple of hours deep into the party, the bands began playing music that had a different feeling to it, as if it was an invitation to dance. Realizing this, you looked back at your partner with possibly the biggest grin she'd ever seen before
"No" She said sternly
"Come on, you'll learn as we go"
You stood up and offered a hand, showing that same confidence that she loved so much (and hated to admit it)
"...Fine, but I'm not responsible if I step on your toes during the whole thing"
She finally took your hand and allowed you to guide her to the dance floor, where many of the couples were already dancing, even some of your employees were allowed to have some fun
"So, how do we do this?"
You walked in front of her before instructing her
"First, I'll place my right hand on your back to help us move"
With your free hand, you guided her left to rest on your right shoulder, this getting you closer to her
"And then, the other two hands are clasped together like this"
You made your hands meet around the shoulder height. You could tell she was nervous, but with your guidance, there was also a desire to put the fears aside
"Now what?"
That's when your smirk reappeared, you leaned close to her and whispered:
"And now, we dance"
Without further due, you began to move around the place. Normally, you would ask your partner to be careful with their feet, but with Helena, this wasn't necessary
In fact, you were able to go even further and twirl her around, much to her enjoyment
She laughed and once she was face to face with you again, she smiled
"I think I'm getting the hang of it"
"I knew you would"
Without losing her smile, she gave you a bit of an intrigued look"
"How did you?"
"Because, Helena, fighting and dancing are not so different. The purpose and the actions are different, yes, but when done correctly, they can be both incredibly deadly AND graceful at the same time
"You know, just like you"

DC Girls x Reader- Christmas time! (2/3)
DC Comics (Comics, not the movies)
A/N: This is a small one-shot collection, with the theme being the holidays!
I don’t own any of the images, they’re just so you can identify the characters easier
CHARACTERS:
-HARLEY QUINN AND POISON IVY
- KILLER FROST/ LOUISE LINCOLN
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Harley and Ivy
Tumblr media
If there was one thing you swore to do was protect Gotham City, even on nights like this one, where most spend their time with their loved ones and get together to eat and party
But the moment you walked into the door, the guys at the GCPD stopped you on your tracks, all insisted that you take the day off, especially since you had covered for a few of them in the past. Normally, you wouldn't agree to it, but when the commissioner himself told you to go home, there was not much to do about it
You got a call from Harley inviting you to Pamela's apartment not so far away from yours. She said she wanted you all to get together for the holidays
It would have come as a surprise if she hadn't talked about it for weeks, even arranging a Christmas exchange between the three of you
And so, with your wrapped gift on hand and a couple of drinks, you walked to the building Pamela lived in. It wasn't hard to spot, it had a greenhouse on the roof
You got to the floor she lived in and knocked on the door, all the noise suddenly coming to an end when you did
Then, Harley herself opened the door, her eyes going wide when she saw you
"Y/N!!"
Was all she said before launching herself at you and trying to start a make-out session, but a vine wrapped around her leg and forced her down. Honestly, the sight was kinda funny
From across the room, Pamela stood there with a smirk and her palm raised to control the vine, making it drag Harley to her
It had quite a few plants, but not too many either. There were also festive lights hung across the walls, probably Harley's idea
It was cozy, to say the least
"Now now, give them some space"
Harley pouted, making you chuckle. This same sound made the redhead look at you with a smirk
"And you, you're here early. Not that I'm complaining"
"Yeah, we thought you'd be working your ass off 'till noon!"
Harley added, still on the floor and you placed the bottles you brought along in the counter nearby
"Well, pretty much the entire police force told me to take the day off so...here I am! Hope it's alright with you girls"
"Are you kiddin'? It's even better!"
The clown girl finally got up, sporting a huge grin as she did. Ivy herself walked closer to you as well
"Yeah, it was about time they recognized what you do for the city"
She then placed a hand on your shoulder and slid it to your cheek, her eyes filled with worry too
"I still don't know why you waste yourself in that place"
With a sympathetic smile, you put your hand on hers and reassured her with your voice
"Someone has to keep the people safe. You know, when the bats aren't around, they deserve some happiness too, you know"
The redhead was about to say something when your mutual lover came through talking from the kitchen
"That's sweet and all, but tonight you ain't a cop, sweetie"
Then she showed up with glasses filled with some of the wine you brought, raising them as if they were an award
"You're Y/N, the sweetest guy/gal in town, and who deserves a drink more than anyone else in here!"
Before any more of the liquid spilled into the floor, Pamela's vines snatched the drinks away and placed them back on the kitchen counter
"While I agree with you, Harls, it's way to early to get wasted. Don't you want to be sober for the exchange?"
Harley began arguing with Pamela about it and all you could do was stand there and smile. Their dynamic was so cute, it was so easy to forget their background sometimes
"Y/N, tell Red I can handle it!" Harley's voice stopped your train of thought with the attitude of a child
"Pam's right, Harley. There's still a long night ahead of us"
And you weren't wrong about it. The dinner was just the beginning, there was a bit of a dance party and of course, the gift exchange
Pamela bought you a package containing all the seasons of your favorite series, suggesting that you watch it together some time
You gave Harley a couple of new roller skates, she wouldn't shut up about how amazing they were and she also wouldn't let go of you until her time was up to bring her gift
It was a plant that had traveled all the way from Asia and into Ivy's arms. You had never seen the girl happier for a gift before
Harley suggested that you should start watching your newly acquired series, but after a couple of episodes, she fell asleep on your lap...and Pamela's
Maybe if you hadn't been stroking her hair she wouldn't have fallen asleep so early, but it didn't matter. The redhead asked you if she could talk to you in the balcony, she said it was important
Upon agreeing to talk, Ivy used her vines to gently lift Harley enough for you to stand up from the couch and as the plants took the girl to sleep, you met the retired supervillain at the terrace
It wasn't that cold, but it was certainly more fresh than inside, a bit darker as well
"So, what did you want to talk about?"
"I just wanted some fresh air, to be honest"
You couldn't help but chuckle at this turn of events. Both of you looking over the city from the balcony with a cup of coffee in hand
"Yeah, it's nice to take a break from everything"
She nodded before taking a sip from the cup
"You said it, a hell of a life we got"
As you looked at the city, you were surprised by her scooting closer to you and trying not to blush about it
"But at least we're in good company"
You chuckled while pulling Pamela close to you, making her yelp by this gesture, but she didn't comply either
"Yeah, we are"
Returning the gesture, Pamela held you closer as well, placing the cups of coffee away before doing so
As for the embrace itself, it was soft, silent for a good couple minutes until you heard her giggling
"You know, I didn't notice until now, but Harley placed some mistletoe here"
She pointed at where the small plant was and smirked at you, making you laugh in the process. It was honestly hard to believe it wasn't Pamela's idea
"You got to respect the tradition"
With your hands on her hips and with hers around your neck, you proceeded to do the only logical thing when faced in this situation. Her lips were so soft, it was addicting
...or at least it would have been if a certain someone hadn't shouted from across the apartment
"IT WORKED!!!"
Harley was peeping just around the corner of the room, and her child-like excitement might have come as annoying, but all you could do was laugh about it
You knew that
Pamela did too
And so did Harley herself, but she was the first one to stop laughing to look directly at you
"...but seriously, I want one too"
Louise Lincoln/ Killer Frost
Tumblr media
Arkham Asylum was many things: the home of madmen, the place with the worst security on the planet, and so on but if there was something it was not, was heartless, and Louise soon discovered that the moment there was a knock on the door to her cell
Soon enough, a guard opened the door as well as a psychiatrist. The noise was loud enough to wake her up and sit down on her bed, growling at the poor souls who dared wake to end her sleep
"Good morning, Louise, I trust you sleep well?" The psychologist asked with a kind tone
"Until you came here, yeah" Her answer was weak, but just because she had just woken up
She yawned as she turned around to face the staff, rubbing her eyes
"What do you want?"
"Well, today's a special day. You'll be allowed a complete meal and two extra hours"
Louise looked at the staff in disbelief. They had hardly ever been that kind to her, and they just come to her saying this out of the blue
Better not to joke about removing her inhibitor collar now
"What's so special about today anyway?"
"Well...It's Christmas"
The girl felt her eyes go wide with the realization of the date. Being a resident in Arkham does take away any real sense of time and while the date was meaningless to her, it still felt like a big revelation
"But before you can go on, there is still the daily check-up with Dr. L/N"
She tried her best not to smile at the mention of that name, barely able to maintain her facade
"Fine, take me to them"
Without further due, the guard escorted them to the next room. Along the way, however, Louise found a wide array of different scenes that honestly, were not something to forget
Some of the walls were decorated with ribbons or lights, some of the staff were using Santa hats and hell, even some of the inmates were acting less creepy than usual
It almost felt...peaceful
"Alright, we're here"
The voice of the guard brought Louise back to reality, standing just outside of the room where her interviews tend to take place.
Upon being asked to enter, she stepped into the place to find out that even you were infected with some of that "holiday spirit", the Santa hat and the red/white cup with hot chocolate gave it away
Regardless, what caught her attention the most, was your smile
"Hello, Louise! How are you today?"
You invited her to take a seat across the table, which she did (but her gaze remained just as confused)
"I'm...fine, thanks for asking"
You gave her a nod whilst opening her file, taking out your pen to start taking some notes as was the standard procedure
"Before we begin, I just want to tell you, merry Christmas, Louise"
While the tone alone was enough to make anyone smile, this wasn't the case with her, not even close
"Yeah...you too"
Picking up with her reaction, you immediately shifted your topic of discussion
"Hmm...rocky relationship with the holiday?
"I'd rather not talk about it if that's okay"
Her eyes moved to the side, looking down in an attempt to hide the memory. While it was a trauma worth exploring, it would have to be another time
She barely had any joy in this place, it wasn't proper to ruin the only day she could be happy by forcing her to say it
"It's alright, Louise. We'll begin with our session so you can leave early"
She nodded and without further due, you began asking questions about her state, some opinions on different topics to understand her current pattern of thought and later compare it to the previous evaluation
It wasn't anything out of the ordinary, if anything her answers seemed to be improving, but ever so slightly. And so, in a matter of minutes, you had written down her answer to the final question
"Alright, thanks for your cooperation"
"Wait, that's it?"
"Yeah, you can enjoy your day now"
Instead of showing relief or anything of the sort, you saw her gaze sadden. This little hint of emotion would not go unnoticed
You stooped storing away your material to look at her and softly ask:
"Is something wrong?"
"Well, it's kinda hard to explain, it even sounds weird..."
A sympathetic smile formed across your face. To be honest, such a thing sounded even insulting considering the kinds of things you saw on a daily basis
"There is no such thing as weird, Louise, you know you can trust me"
"That's the thing. You're the person I've spent most of my time with in this nuthouse and now that I got a day to myself I..."
A deep sigh left her lips when she found herself unable to continue. You, on the other hand, said nothing, giving her a chance to gather her strength but also, to appreciate the fact that she was actually being honest for a change
"Can...can I ask you a favor?"
She looked back up, straight into your eyes for that sentence, her confidence being nowhere near where it was, but none of the rudeness was there either
This was... something else
"Of course, what can I do for you?"
You answered almost out of pure instinct, unsure of whether saying yes was the right thing to do, but you had never seen Louise act like this before. You had to discover the cause
"Listen, can...Can you stay with me, just for today?"
All the intrigue, the curiousness, and even fear disappeared with that single request
No longer did you have a metahuman criminal whose attitude made treatment difficult
Now you had a person as fragile as anyone else and just as alone that, in that moment, was asking for your help
This moment of silence brought doubt into Louise, she quickly tried to look away, only for a hand to rest above hers to catch her attention. When she returned her gaze to you, she saw you smile
Not the professional, polite kind of gesture, but a genuine one
"Sure, I'll stay with you"

DC Girls x Reader- Christmas time! (1/3)
DC Comics (Comics, not the movies)
A/N: This is a small one-shot collection, with the theme being the holidays!
I don’t own any of the images, they’re just so you can identify the characters easier
CHARACTERS:
- WONDER WOMAN/ DIANA PRINCE
- GREEN LANTERN/ JESSICA CRUZ
- BLACK CANARY/ DINAH LANCE
This is without a doubt, the most wholesome thing I've ever written. I hope you enjoy it and please let me know what you think! -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Diana Prince/ Wonder Woman
Tumblr media
When it came to telling the truth, there was no one like Diana. She literally had a lasso to make others unable to say otherwise
But this day, in particular, she couldn't be more cryptic
It was December 21st, the Amazon had pretty much sent you the coordinates that led you to a snowy forest at a very specific time. The only part that was not a bunch of numbers was the message itself that read:
"It is important to me that you make it here, I will explain everything"
Fortunately, the place itself wasn't so far away, so you took a truck to get there. It didn't take long to find her seeing as she was the only one there, not wearing her armor, but a winter coat.
Next to her was a big pile of branches carefully placed and surrounded by rocks. She has definitely piqued your attention and when she laid eyes on you coming out of your vehicle, she smiled
"You made it"
She hugged you once you were close enough. For someone so strong, her hugs were so soft and kind
When the embrace was over, you looked at the makeshift fire she had built
"Of course, now mind telling me what's this?"
"This is why I asked you here. I want to celebrate with you"
She saw the puzzled expression on your face and with that same warmth, she chose to explain herself, as she had promised
"You see, Y/N, in Themyscira we don't have Christmas, but there is the winter solstice. Hence why I called you a couple days earlier"
"Right, and this is how you celebrate"
A torch had been finished while you talked, and Diana picked it up
"Without the wine and song, but yes"
She finished the torch by igniting it with a match, the fire quickly grew
"Unfortunately, I can't go home and celebrate with my sisters, so I chose you"
She handed you the torch and together, you ignited the fire. It was ironic, all your life you had been fighting fire, but this time, you started one
As you did so, she began to chant something with her eyes closed. It was not something you had heard before, but you remained silent to respect her tradition
From inviting the forces of nature and various spirits to join you to dancing and chanting, her ritual celebration was much more than igniting a fire. It truly felt like something from a land past your era, but that also gave it a sense of mystery and, unironically, wonder
Diana herself guided you through the whole thing, holding your hand (although you weren't sure if that was out of kindness or love) and even if you weren't used to it, you were able to adapt with some surprising ease
The perks of having such a dynamic job, perhaps
But when it concluded, she sat on a log near the fire and tapped a spot next to her, asking you to come over. And now, you were watching the fire together, also getting to rest from everything you had performed with her guidance
She was the first to break the silence after a couple of minutes of staring at the fire
"Impressive work, Y/N. It was quite gratifying celebrating with you"
"It was something, alright"
You said between breaths, a bit more tired than she was, but chosing not to make the gap between words that big
"But...it was nice, certainly something new to try"
"And for good reason. This festivity is a sign of rebirth, new light, and renewal"
Even now that the ceremony was over she continued to illustrate you on the meaning behind, well, everything
"Huh, well that explains a lot... I just got one question, though"
She looked away from the fire and into your eyes, intrigued
"Why me? I mean, I'm really grateful that you invited me, but I'm sure there's a bigger reason behind it"
This caused Diana to giggle, soon realizing that while she might have explained the activities, she was so into it that never actually explained the purpose of the whole thing
"As I said, this is a welcome to the new light that appears around this time of the year"
Then, she gently placed her hand on top of yours while the explanation continued
"But for people like us, who have a more intimate relationship with darkness, we stand guard against our own darkness..."
Her fingers soon found yours and in a swift, almost natural motion, she intertwined them with yours, making you look at her only to be met with the warm smile and bright eyes that only she could give
"As this reminds us that the light always comes back eventually"
So many things to say, ways to reply to that but...none came through, just her words echoing throughout your mind. Even if told last what was the ritual about, there was no denying that helping the flame burn, and fighting to maintain the light, it felt right
Perhaps your line of work isn't the same as hers, but the dangers that you face were still threats, and it would be so easy to simply stop answering the call, but if you were to answer just one emergency at the time, just one day at the time...it suddenly didn't felt all that bad
And who better to remind you of that, than Diana herself
You leaned closer to her and gave her a peck on the lips before being pulled by her for a sideways hug, resting your head on her shoulder soon enough
"I-I don't know what to say other than...thank you, Diana"
You felt her head softly touch with yours, chuckling. For a moment, not a word was spoken, the strongest source or noise were the fire burning strongly, and the wind blowing upon you
...Or at least until something else came to mind
"So...you mentioned earlier that you didn't have the wine or the dance to go along with this event"
The Amazon separated from you with one of her eyebrows raised
"Yes, what of it?"
A mischievous smile appeared on your face, being asked just the right thing
"Well...I might have brought some wine for you"
Diana stopped for a moment only to laugh at this incredible coincidence
"You just make everything better, don't you?"
Jessica Cruz/ Green Lantern
Tumblr media
This year had proven to be quite an eventful time to be a lantern. Ending a war between two races, repelling a massive attack from the reds, curing a plague and even bringing down a maniacal dictator
And all that without mentioning the missions for the Justice league
Jessica found this to be overwhelming at worst, but she always had a certain someone to help her cope through everything and give her a boost... sometimes literally
However, it was during times like this where she really needed her partner, she needed you
But you were assigned to teach the new members of your core while she...well, laid down on the couch
It was weird, the JL had actually invited her to assist to a party in the watchtower but for reasons she couldn't explain, she turned them down
Maybe she felt like she wasn't as big of a hero as the other attendees...or maybe she just wanted to be away from the whole superhero life, at least for the day
The girl looked to her left to find the empty dining table, a sigh left her lips as the memory of her past emerged
Before becoming a Green Lantern, Jessica used to hang out with a group of people she proudly called her friends with whom she might have spent this holiday as well. But it all changed one faithful night
The same night their trip to the woods was highjacked by the wrong people, claiming not only the lives of her friends but also Jessica's very own
A grim moment that will forever be considered as life-changing and horrifying, but now, it served as a reminder
A reminder that she was alone, maybe by choice this time, but as she sulks in her own apartment
Jessica's previous life might be gone forever, but this new one that took its place also had its benefits, and one of them had just made it home
...with the sound of jingle bells
Not only did this strange sound stopped her previous train of thought, it sounded quite close to her, so close in fact, that it might as well have landed just outside her apartment
Intrigued to find the source of the noises, Jessica put on a leather jacket and opened the door to leave her place
What she saw, however, was both the weirdest thing she'd ever seen and the greatest:
She saw you on a blue energy construct resembling a sleigh with a small bag of presents on the back. Pulling it, were a bunch of reindeers so lively it was easy to forget they weren't real
Oh, and a Santa hat that wasn't a construct
She was about to ask the reason behind this unusual entry when you just winked at her before getting off the "vehicle" while saying:
"Jessica Cruz of Earth, you have been chosen..."
The tone used for this announcement was meant to parody the speech of the rings you worked with
From the sleigh, you pulled out the only other object that was real: a small box, wrapped like a gift and gave it to her
"...to have a merry Christmas"
Jessica was baffled by this, everything you did spoke volumes to her. It was almost enough to make her cry
But she didn't, instead, she immediately wrapped her arms around you for a tight hug. One that you gladly returned
"You came, you actually came"
Her voice riddled with joy and surprise as she buried herself closer to you
"I wouldn't miss it for the universe... literally"
She giggled at this, enjoying the embrace for a few seconds before taking a step back to look at you
"Thank you, Y/N, really"
It would take a while for the girl to process the rush of emotions you just caused her, but she was surprised the most by the smile on your face, the one that told her you were up to something
"And it's just the beginning"
You took her hand and guided her back to her own apartment, continuing to talk without looking back
"Come on, I've been aching to butcher the lyrics of a song with you"
Only after this did she realize that even if she had lost people before, she had gained someone who made her entire new life worth it. Someone who, even if busy on the other side of the universe, will still make some time for her and would even make her excited for what could tomorrow bring to the table
She was still afraid, there was no denying that, but if there's something that can overcome fear, is willpower, and if there's something that can fuel it
...is hope
Dinah Lance/ Black Canary
Tumblr media
Differences are okay, they were what helped maintain individuality amongst the people, but the problem was when they wouldn't tolerate each other because of it
It was true, folks didn't come together as much as they used to. Yes, they would agree in some things but would never actually unite unless a catastrophe took place
Fortunately, there was another thing that would make them put their differences aside just for the sake of enjoyment. Such special times, were the holidays
This cheerful ambience more than compensated staying the whole day at the bar as you were asked to do
You were currently serving orders along the other bartender, pouring drinks left and right
Even the manager helped deliver them
"Nothing quite like a full house, eh?"
"You said it, sir"
"I don't know if I should punch or kiss you, Y/N"
Your coworker joked while she finished a drink, of course, catching you off-guard
"What? Why me?"
She wrapped her arm around your shoulders, stopping only to make you look around
"C'mon, a good part of these folks came to see you"
You got a view of the customers, chatting and drinking, giving you all sorts of smiles when they spotted you
You had a good relationship with them, going as far as letting them take the stage when they wanted to try something. As wonderful as it was, it wasn't all you
Yes, there was someone else who helped spark this harmony, and if you were to be complimented, it only felt right that your partner did too
"If that's the case, then it's not just me, y'know? They'd also be here for-"
"Dinah!"
The customers cheered in unison at the blonde entering the bar, visibly tired, but moved by this welcome
"Talk about the devil"
You shared a laugh before going back to your jobs, though it didn't take long for Dinah herself to join you by taking a seat as if she were a customer on the counter
"Hey, Dinah, busy day?"
"Not as busy as yours, it seems" She remarked with a chuckle
A couple signs of exhaustion didn't stop the girl from being herself around you, jokes included
Half an hour later, you were done and were finally able to get a drink, serving the last two drinks for Dinah and yourself as you took a seat next to her
"I don't know how do you do it"
"Do what?"
"This, pouring drinks non-stop for hours and still have that smile across your face like nothing happened, especially today"
She took a sip from her drink before looking at you
"Really, how do you?"
"Well, just look at them"
With this new breath of fresh air, she looked at the crowd, this time in more detail with your guidance
The regular crowd shuffled in, but it wasn't only them, a lot of new faces were present in the establishment and in some cases, even some celebrities
Regardless, they were all here, under the same roof, getting to forget about life for a while along both friends and strangers alike
People starting relationships, romances and even getting to know each other for the first time, and the best of it all: not single frowning face
Then, you paused to drink and concluded
"I do it just to see them all getting along. I don't know how bad is it for them, but watching them shake it off and have a good time makes it worth it"
There was no answer to that, You just saw Dinah stare at you with worried eyes and eventually, a smile
"Come here" She ordered softly
So you leaned close to her and she quickly held you closer to make your lips touch. Seeing as words failed at the moment, you felt her opinion about it when she intensified the act briefly
Dinah broke the kiss shortly after, still staring at you and smiling upon regaining her breath
"This world doesn't deserve you, Y/N L/N"
Before anything else happened, you heard one of the customers yelling from across the room
"Come on, Dinah, sing us a song!"
You chuckled together, being reminded of where you were
"Looks like you're needed"
You told her with a smirk, but then another voice chimed in
"You too, help the lady!"
This time Dinah was smirking, you were even now
"Looks like I'm not the only one"
She stood up and offered you a hand
"Now let's give them the show they deserve"
Nodding, you took her hand and together you got on the stage, much to the crowd's joy
"Let's start with one that you all know, better sing along with me!"

Penny Haywood x MC- Experience (4/4)
A/N: I hope you enjoyed this special! See you soon!
Game: Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery
____________________
There was always something about a village that helped it stand out from a landscape and earn a smile from one, even if one had never been there before
Maybe it was the way the houses looked, stuck in time without showing signs of decay
Or perhaps it was the way the people behaved, so polite and welcoming that even a stranger could feel as if they had lived amongst them for years
Regardless of what it was, there was no denying that the atmosphere was unmatched. Such was the ambiance of the village that Penny and Y/N were visiting as requested by her mother
Unfortunately, Beatrice fell ill due to the food they ate last night. Nothing too severe, but a few ingredients would help to make a potion for her
Penny took the opportunity to give the curse-breaker a tour around the place, with her holding their hand the entire time...not that they minded, of course
The village's colors were different in the afternoon, with oranges, purples, and pinks bouncing off the buildings to set a serene tone
"And here we are. This is the place where we get most of our ingredients. The quality is amazing!"
They stopped at a small, wooden store. It looked a bit old, but certainly stood the test of time
When they stopped, an old woman came out and smiled
"Good morning, Penny. It's always a pleasure to see you around here"
"Likewise, Madam Clarke!" She answered, ever so cheerful
Then, the woman's attention turned to you, with an intrigued look to her
"And who this might be?"
"Y/N L/N, I go to the same school as Penny. A pleasure to meet you"
They greeted the woman with a hint of formality, they didn't know how Penny's relationship with these people was, after all
"Is that so? You two seem to be getting along quite nicely" She chuckled to herself after saying that
That's when They remembered, neither of them let go of the other's hand
Being too embarrassed to say anything, Penny just let go
"Anyhow, what can I get you?"
"The things in this list, please"
Penny handed her a paper with the ingredients written in it. Fortunately, the woman didn't see her blushing while doing so
Without further due, Madam Clarke left to get the objects, leaving the two teenagers to chat for a bit
"...So, how are you finding this village so far, Y/N?"
They turned to see Penny smiling once again, almost as if she was using them as an escape from that embarrassing moment seconds ago
"It's amazing, it reminds me of the first time I saw Hogsmeade"
The blonde found herself nodding at this
"I know, right? This place is just so charming. That's why we come here every chance we get"
"It does wonders to help the mood. No wonder you always return so happy for the next year"
This earned a laugh from Penny, who just shook her head
"Well, it's also because I get to see you, Y/N. That is always something to look forward to"
Y/N smiled fondly at this. Truth to be told, there were many reasons to either look forward to or dread the return to Hogwarts every year
The obvious reason to fear would've been the curses going around every single year, until this one, that is
However, one reason to look forward to it was to spend time with friendly faces once again, even appreciate them a bit more after being on their own for a while
"There you go. This should be everything" Madam Clarke made her way back to the counter
She handed Penny a bag and she saw the content to check if everything was in order and upon confirming it, she handed her a couple of coins
"Thank you, Madam Clarke!"
She turned around and motioned Y/N to come with her. Upon exiting that business, however, the blonde noticed something, she even stopped walking because of it
"Penny? Is everything alright?" Out of instinct, Y/N had their wand at the ready
"Absolutely, I just noticed how different the center of the village looks. It's so festive!"
Y/N let out a sigh of relief when they heard this, then proceeding to look into the reason for this
"Perhaps they are preparing something?"
"Could be..." She pondered before looking at a person walking nearby
"Excuse me, what are the decorations for?"
"We've decided on preparing a small outdoors celebration this year! To keep the spirit as jolly as it can" The man announced proudly, but this answer also sparked curiosity in Penny's eyes
"An outdoors celebration? You mean with dancing too?"
"You bet! Make sure you bring your sweetheart. It's going to be brilliant"
With that, the man left to attend his own business. While Y/N was glaring at him for calling them that, Penny was already tending to thousands of ideas in her mind
Before Y/N could ask about it, she turned around and grabbed both of their hands, sporting a bright smile as well
"This is wonderful! What better to show you how magical this place is than with a festival!"
They didn't even have time to say anything due to Penny hugging them tightly. It was commonly known that Penny Haywood adored these types of events
But there was something about this one that just felt so different. It only made sense, this was the first time that Y/N had seen a Muggle community like this one
"Come on, we have to tell my mum about this!"
And so, the young Haywood practically dragged them back to the small house, where she delivered the big news to her family
"A festival, you say? That would explain why the village looked so different this time"
Mr. Haywood stated while picking up the ingredients Penny had brought them and put them on the counter for his wife
"I'm afraid we can't, we have to tend to Bea until she recovers"
Her statement saw itself defied by the voice of the patient herself. Beatrice looked as if she had a cold, yet she was in her pajamas standing in the middle of the hall
... honestly, not her best look
"I... told...you I'm... fine"
"What are you doing out of bed? You'll catch a cold like that!"
Her dad rushed in and gently took her back to her room, making her mum sigh in annoyance
But that's when she got an idea just by looking at the two teenagers standing in the living room
Penny looked so eager to go to this event, while Y/N seemed to be quite distraught by Beatrice's problem
They had already done their part by bringing supplies, and playing nurse wasn't a way to spend the holidays, was it?
"I have an idea, why don't you two go to the festival for us? You earned it"
The moment she heard this, the stars in her daughter's blue eyes began to shine once again with excitement, making her chuckle at this
"Really?"
"Consider it my Christmas gift to you two"
She winked at the couple. Penny ran towards her for a hug, one that she eas quick to return
"Thank you so much!"
It was cute to see the blonde get so excited for this, but when recalling events like the Celestial Ball or the festival at Hogwarts, it was difficult for the heart not to start racing as well
This is when Y/N realized something. They've had fun dancing before with Penny and the rest of the school
But this time, it was a festival just for the two of them. No distractions or obstacles, or even multiple crushes to balance out
Just fun with a single person, Penny
"Do you have something to wear for the dance, Y/N?"
Her sweet voice made them snap out of their thoughts and when remembering the question, the student gave her a confident smirk
"Absolutely, I have just the outfit for this. Just leave it to me"
...
Two hours later
"I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR, I AM DOOMED"
Y/N walked through the room back and forth, their clothes all scattered around, a faithful reflection of their mind currently
The curse-breaker had packed their things when they left Hogwarts, but none of the clothes they brought would help them look good enough for this dance! They'd stand out like a stain on a white sheet
They had spent hours upon hours trying to find something decent for this event, not just regular clothes switched up to look like something new
It's not that they would know that they'd need a special outfit, but they couldn't afford to go and buy one. There was no time left
Not good, not good
"Think, what would Andre do?"
They stopped to look at the room before facepalming
"Probably yell at me for having my clothes like this"
Groaning in defeat, Y/N sat back on the bed
"This was going so well..."
However, as their frustration threatened to take over, they managed to see something in their suitcase, something that wasn't there before
"What the...?"
Y/N directed their attention to this and brought the suitcase closer to them and what they saw caught them off-guard by sure
It was another set of clothes, perfectly folded so that they weren't perceivable unless every other piece of clothing was taken out before
Y/N recognized this as one of the outfits Andre had styled for them. But how? It wasn't there when they put their clothes in the suitcase before
That's when they spotted a small note attached to the outfit
"You might need it. Good luck!"
- Tulip &, Chiara
"Pd. You ought to tell me all about your trip when you get back,!"
-Alanza <3
Y/N didn't know if they should laugh at this or question how did the girls manage to sneak in this outfit without them noticing. Regardless, they were beyond grateful for their friends at this moment
Without wasting another second, they grabbed the outfit and tried it on. It looked elegant enough to notice that it wasn't just a make-shift outfit, but not too extravagant either
They couldn't recall the last time they had worn those clothes, but it didn't matter now, for it was perfect!. They made a note to themselves to thank the girls when they saw them again
Minutes after making the final adjustments to the outfit, there was a knock on the door
"Y/N? Are you ready?"
Penny's voice could be heard from the other side. But this time, the teenager had an answer to it
"Absolutely, I'm coming out"
Without further due, they left their room with a confident smirk, sure to look their best for the night
But when they stopped to look at the blonde in front of them, Y/N was left speechless
A yellow tiered ruffle skirt hugged her waist and part of her legs, contrasting with a cute black top that highlighted her two necklaces, and to top it all off, a french braid resting on her side. As if she wasn't breathtaking enough, her smile was what sent Y/N over the edge
However, they weren't the only ones in awe of what they were seeing, for Penny too was beyond impressed by the way their partner looked tonight. Even if they were amazed by the other, they couldn't bring themselves to look at each other in the eye without ending up like a tomato
"P-Penny! You look brilliant"
Y/N was the first one to break the ice, earning a smile from her
"You too, Y/N, I...wow"
She tried her best to remain her friendly self but found herself staring even against her own
"Awww look at you two! Let me take a picture!"
Penny's mum rushed off to get her camera, leaving the two teenagers on their own. However, watching the woman's reaction helped the teens to ground themselves a bit in reality and thus, laughing  at what had just happened
Of course, they still thought about how good the other looked, but they could at least get a hold of themselves now and look at one another without exploding with emotions immediately as a child would
And so, after getting their photograph taken, Penny and Y/N left the building, now greeted by the nocturnal sky and a breeze of cold air. In the distance, the lights of the village could be seen waiting or them, their colors so warm and festive
"I can't believe it, a festival just for us!"
Then, she looked at Y/N with her usual smile
"This is going to be incredible"
Just as Penny regained her excitement, so did Y/N's confidence returned and showed so by extending a hand to their partner for the evening
"Then let's check this festival together, shall we?"
At first, the blonde was caught off-guard by this gesture, like a knight in shining armor coming for her, requesting for her hand, hers
Words couldn't describe how lucky she felt to be the one looking at this, but that was okay, her actions would suffice. With a proud smirk, she reached out for their hand as well
"Yes, let's"
...
As soon as they stepped into the village, they were blown away by what they were seeing. The decorations made the place feel even more alive than it was before and as the moonlight shined upon it, the festive lights highlighted this atmosphere
Smiles could be seen everywhere they looked. From the elderly to the children, everyone seemed to be having a great time
"A gift for the young couple"
A woman approached them with flower bracelets for both, placing them gently on their hands
They accepted the gift but were certainly surprised by it too. Mainly to be called a couple, but to be fair, there was no point in arguing against it now
"It's...comfy!" Penny stated while adjusting hers
"How does it look on me?"
She turned to take a good look at the new accessory in Y/N's head and she giggled
"It looks adorable"
Without further due, the duo continued to explore the festival. It had amazing  food, fun games the likes of which Y/N had never seen before, and even a place to take pictures with someone
Being that last part what caught their eye the most. It wasn't often that they were able to take pictures together, after all
They took a couple of photos. If there was any doubt as to whether Y/N smiled at all that year or not, one would only need to look at those items
With the same jolly attitude, they kept exploring what the festival had to offer, and that's when they reached the center of the village
The people were gathering around a wooden stage, where an old man was giving an announcement
"Friends, I know you're all as anxious about the dance as I am, so I will keep this short"
They stepped back into the stage, motioning to it
"The dance will welcome all who want to participate, but only one couple will be crowned tonight! And your cheers will help us decide who that is!"
The people cheered as some of them walked onto the stage with their couple, eager to dance
When this happened, Penny's blue orbs sparkled with excitement as she looked back at Y/N
"Can we participate? Can we?"
They couldn't help but chuckle at her kid-like eagerness but found themselves nodding too
After fending off a dragon, Acromantulas, and even Dark Wizards, Y/N L/N had grown much more confident, so dancing in a festival with Penny didn't seem to be a challenge too big
However, this one was a far more likable challenge than those others
"Of course we can. Let's show them!"
The young lady guided them to the stage, where they found a spot to dance right in the middle of it all
"Alright everyone, let's begin!"
The musicians started playing their entrancing melody, inviting everyone who heard it to dance. The violins and even the piano gave it a distinct sound
(Think of something like this if you want)
Y/N's right hand made its way to Penny's waist as hers fell on their shoulder and their left hands intertwined shortly after and their eyes, fixed in one another's
The music slowly picked its pace and the couple began to move together, first left, then right and left one more time, starting slowly and with a gentle tone
When the time came, Y/N raised their hand and allowed Penny to twirl, swiftly stepping back so that she and her partner were in front of each other, still dancing
The people clapped in unison as they started to tap the floor following the rhythm of the music, dancing and jumping in place without losing sight of the floor either
The way they moved was akin to the music of another time, yet with the same life and energy
Soon, laughter and smiles would come from both of the teenagers as they lost themselves to this cheerful music and even clapped with the crowds before switching partners
Never before had Y/N felt so free. No responsibilities or problems, nothing was wrong with the world, nothing needed fixing
It was just them, the music and Penny
And that was all they needed
This intoxicating happiness quickly took over them, and regardless of how long it would last, they would cherish every second of it
And so they danced, jumped around in place, and even formed circles with the other dancers until eventually, they made their way back to Penny herself
Once again, they intertwined their hands as they began to move in synchrony, twirling and dancing in circles without letting go
The violins helped their moves, guiding every step of theirs until suddenly... They were inches away from each other, they could feel the other's breath and all they could see was the other's face as they regained their breath, but most importantly, they smiled at each other
They genuinely smiled
Penny pushed their bodies closer to each other, the curse-breaker took the hint, held the blonde's waist, and spun them around, much to her surprise
Both laughed at this until Y/N was holding Penny's back, keeping her from falling as she cupped their cheek in return, and finally, they sealed the moment with a long-awaited kiss
Y/N found themselves closing their eyes to shut the world out the moment their lips met hers
The soft taste of her honeyed lips was far sweeter than any treat the curse-breaker ever got, and the wait only made them better
As they slowly separated their lips, they could only stare at each other in disbelief of what just happened
"Penny..." Was all they could mutter and yet, that was enough for her heart to melt
But then, the clapping and cheering from the crowds surrounding them reminded the couple that they were still in the middle of a festival, and by the looks of it, they had put quite a show
Everyone was looking at them with a huge smile as if they somehow knew the importance of the moment they had witnessed
Even the other couples were applauding them at this point
"It seems that we have our winners!"
The man walked towards them and placed a beautiful crown of flowers on the blonde's head, and then another on Y/N's
They were now standing in front of the crowd, too shocked to know how to respond on their own, but that was the thing, they were not alone
One way or another, they both knew this and acting out of pure instinct, their hands reached out for the other's until they inevitably succeeded
This sudden contact made them look at one another, surprised by this connection at first, but it soon turned into a smile
Not the kind of smile one would do when being told good news
Nor the kind of smile to make when seeing someone after a long time
But a smile of the purest kind
That of love itself

Penny Haywood x MC- The Haywoods (3/4)
Game: Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery
____________________
The next morning, Y/N was greeted by the cheerful song of the birds, followed by the cold breeze of winter, but reduced by the warm sheets
They could feel themselves smiling at how comfortable they were, Hogwarts could be nice, but never this warm and soft when it comes to a good rest. Maybe it had to do with the fact that the previous day was quite the journey
Or the idea that this was much different from any nap at the school, but rather, a stay in a rather different place, with crowds not the same as the school, and more importantly, with Penny Haywood
However, the day had just started, and it intended to keep going
And so, Y/N got up and even grabbed some different clothes from their suitcase. It felt quite refreshing, but int only made sense that to face a brand-new day, they'd get a new set of clothes
Once that was out of the way, they opened the door, but found the other doors already open. That was rather unusual, and the fact that it was so quiet didn't help either
With their wand at the ready, the teenager carefully made their way through the hall and into the living room. They found a fresh plate of food well-preserved by the table, and Beatrice sitting on a couch by herself, reading something
"Beatrice? Where is everyone?"
Their voice made the blonde stop her activity to get up and look at them
"Good morning Y/N. Mum and dad went to fetch some ingredients for the feast and Penny...well, she left for a walk" She scratched the back of her neck while saying that last part
There was some hesitance to that sentence, but Y/N chose not to focus on that
"You mean to tell me that I slept through breakfast?"
"Pretty much, nobody wanted to disturb you since you looked so peaceful. You haven't been sleeping well lately, remember?"
Y/N felt their cheeks getting warmer due to the embarrassment. That made sense, and it was awfully considerate of them
Although they were sad because they missed eating some breakfast with the whole family and they had just missed it due to their tiredness
"Hey, don't worry, there is always dinner"
Beatrice reassured them with a smile before walking to the kitchen that was adjacent to the living room and bringing the plate Y/N saw earlier
"Here, they left this for you"
Y/N smiled and took the plate, thanking the younger sister as they sat down and started to eat. What came next, however, came as a surprise
Beatrice pulled a chair and sat with Y/N to accompany them while they ate. It's not that the curse-breaker didn't value the company or that they weren't friends with Bea, but the fact that she did this out of the kindness of her heart
"So, you did sleep well, didn't you?"
"Yes, it was the best sleep I've had in a long time"
She giggled upon hearing this as if she already knew the answer
"Yeah, that's the effect these beds have on you. The weather helps too"
Y/N nodded before drinking from the glass left for them
"Hey... Can I ask you something?
She was granted permission by them, so she kept going with her question, although not entirely sure about it
"I don't mean to be rude or anything, but...why are you here? With us?"
"Well, mum is visiting relatives in America and Penny didn't want me to stay at Hogwarts" Y/N answered truthfully but giving Beatrice a puzzled look
Well, they were not wrong, but perhaps there was more to that question
"That is true, but you could've said no. I've seen you spend entire days on your own after we dealt with the last Vault"
That's when a part of Y/N lost confidence in the conversation. They were never great with more intimate questions like that one, but if they had learned anything about the person they were talking with is that she could take on topics that are a bit more complicated
And so, they decided to continue with a sigh
"Can I trust this will stay between us?"
The blonde nodded eagerly, but she also picked up the fact that what she was about to hear was difficult to say. Needless to say, she appreciated the trust
"Absolutely"
"After we took down R and dealt with Rakepick, I was just...there, wandering aimlessly, not knowing that was next"
"Why is that?"
"I don't know... I had been focusing too much on this that I forgot what I wanted to do after it. Back then everything was somewhat simple and direct and now..."
"It doesn't make any sense?"
"Exactly"
The teenager looked at her with a hint of surprise. Perhaps she was more familiar with this feeling than what she let on
"But not everything was about the Vaults, was it? From what I've gathered you had a handful of experiences, nice ones too"
"I did. I experienced the Celestial Ball, played Quidditch for my house, and even went on a date"
Bea couldn't help but smile at the way her friend went over those events. It was like Penny had described them years ago
"However, when looking at these events, I found a pattern. A certain someone was always there"
"Who? Penny?"
"Indeed. Whether she was a supporter, a partner, or the one who sent me on that quest, to begin with, she was always there when it mattered"
"That is very sweet"
"It is, and I had this in mind when she asked me to come with you for the holidays. The opportunity to have another one of those good memories that helped balance everything"
Then, Y/N placed a hand on their cheek as they looked to the side
"If that was a good decision or not, remains to be seen, though..."
Bea caught their attention by clearing her throat
"Listen, I know I didn't make it easy for you, but we've been friends these last years and it grew on me"
She then looked at them in the eyes before continuing
"What I'm saying with this is that, between you and me, I am glad that you did come with us"
Hearing this helped clear some of Y/N's thoughts. That clarity that seemed like a delicacy these days, and one that would never go unnoticed because of that
"Thank you, Beatrice. I...I needed that"
"Don't mention it. That's what friends are for, right?"
The showed a smile of her own, something that was becoming more common with each encounter, and of course, a treasured thing as well
"...Besides, I wanted your help learning a new charm"
Both of them laughed after this. Seeing as they had finished their plate, Y/N stood up
"I guess I owe you for listening to me. Which spell do you want to learn?
...
"Yes, they slept through breakfast, I guess they were more tired than I thought"
Penny's laugh stood out from the scene, being the only person in the place. She was sitting on the ground, with a small altar next to her
The altar had flowers, a necklace, and the photo of someone who was Penny's dear friend before an unfortunate encounter with a werewolf in that same area years ago
If it weren't for Y/N's support, Haywood would have never found the courage to visit this place, let alone build an altar to honor her
But there she was, visiting it and talking as if she was chatting with her friend. Dumbledore once said, everyone grieves differently
"You know, I'm just glad they allowed me to get them out of the castle for a change. They spend almost every single day around the same area, it's not healthy"
The hill she was in provided a great view of the forest and the village as a whole. Penny chose this specific spot for her friend
"This time I was able to convince Y/N to come with me. I was afraid that they wouldn't let me because of everything that happened this last year"
"It's also quite the refresher to be able to spend some time with them somewhere that isn't Hogwarts or Hogsmeade, it's almost like...like sharing a life that isn't reduced to just classes"
Then, she gently touched the bracelet once given to her by the curse-breaker themselves, a smile slowly making its way as well
"Which is great because I don't want to stop hanging out with them upon graduating. I hope they feel the same about me..."
The blonde chuckled after this, realizing something about what she was saying, or rather, who she was sharing it with
"I bet you'd be teasing me mercilessly right now, but it would be worth it"
However, before anything else took place, a red light was shot into the sky for a couple of seconds. It came from the house they were using
Penny stood up and recognized this as the Vermillious charm. It was generally used in emergencies, but she knew that nothing as troubling could happen there
Although it did serve as a reminder of the people she had left when she chose to come here
"Anyhow, it was nice catching up, Scarlett. I hope you can continue to rest now"
Then, she pointed her wand at the resting place, and with a swift motion, she cast Herbivicus on it to help the flowers remain as alive and healthy as they were before
And so, she made her way back from the hill and into the house, they used for the time being. Penny wasn't scared when she saw the Vermillious, because she knew nothing would get past Y/N and Beatrice
But mainly, she trusted them
Said trust paid off when she reached the house and saw two figures in the backyard practicing with red sparks coming from their wands
"That's pretty good! Try one more time"
The student corrected Beatrice before encouraging another attempt. With a gentle motion of her wrist, Beatrice managed to cast a remarkable red sparks charm, especially when considering it was her second year at Hogwarts
Leaning on a tree, Penny saw Y/N training Bea, both of them smiling as they used to before tragedy attempted to take their happiness away. For the young Haywood, it was quite a sight to behold
At least until they spotted her
"Oh, you're back"
When Beatrice noticed her presence, she stopped her attempts to keep training and shifter her attention to her, and so did her tutor, who was just happy to see her for the first time since they had all unpacked
"What are you two doing?" Penny asked with a smile while approaching them
"I'm teaching Beatrice to use Vermillous, she's quite good!"
Coming from the student who beat a dragon, that meant a lot, but it also embarrassed Bea slightly
"It's just that you teach better than most teachers"
Her flustered state earned a laugh from Y/N themselves, who ruffled her hair playfully
The story of Y/N L/N and Beatrice Haywood's bond was baffling if one were  to analyze it
It was at first, she admired them thanks to all the stories Penny herself told about them, then she loathed them for leaving her stuck in a portrait for nearly a year (despite being the Vaults' fault) and now...they were laughing together as siblings would
Y/N sure had their share of suffering, but that too helped them bond with people, and to Penny, the sight of them reconnecting and just being happy, was worth more than any Christmas present
"And what you Penny? Where were you?"
This question made the blonde snap out of it and focus on the present. With somewhat of a nervous smile, she answered
"Just doing a Christmas tradition of my own"
Then, an idea of her own made itself known
"Speaking of which, do you mind if I snatch Y/N for a little bit?"
Her sister nodded and Penny wasted no time, guiding the teenager back inside the house and into her room
"What's the plan?"
"You're going to help me brew some Felix Felicis! To make our stay here even better"
That did sound like something Penny would do for the holidays. They were already a wonderful time, what better than ensuring that it remained as wonderful?
They entered the small room, which was so much more organized. The sheets were yellow, with a poster of a Quidditch team in the wall and it even had a brewing station of its...wait, that looked familiar
"Is that the kit I gave you for Christmas last time?"
They pointed at the equipment by the window. This brought a proud smile to the Hufflepuff's face
"It is! I told you I'd only use for the most important potions"
A smile made its way to the curse-breaker's face. They knew this gift meant a lot to Penny, but seeing it by themselves hit different
The blonde handed them some ingredients before asking with a smile
"Are you up for the challenge?"
Y/N smirked as they took the object
"Let's do this"
Without wasting any more time, they got to brewing Felix Felicis, with Penny being the one to take control and Y/N following her command
While working on it, it was difficult not to think about all the times they had brewed something together, especially if they weren't supposed to do that like both incidents of the Polyjuice Potion
Truth is they complimented each other in such a way that no task would be impossible for them, as proven many times
However, the hardest of tasks would arise when one of them lost their path, and only the other could help them get back to it
Fortunately, none of these students would back down from a challenge, and they had never failed either. Not for the sake of the school, the students or a grand reward
But for each other
"There, now we have to stir!" Penny announced with excitement, they had gone through the instructions so fast
"Who will do it?"
The blonde gave some thought to it before taking a hold of the stirring rod herself
"What if we do it together? It was a team effort after all"
The look she gave Y/N, so inviting and innocent, was reminiscent of those times when they would surely get in trouble, but just asked for a partner in crime
Unbeknownst to everyone, when Penny and Y/N were up for it, their execution in mischief would be so grand that nobody ever caught them
And so, Y/N smiled, placing one hand on the stirring rod and the other above Penny's and began to stir along with her
As they did, Penny mover her hands so that she would be in touch with theirs as they kept their movement until the mix was perfect
They had finished their Felix Felicis, and yet, Penny's attention was on the student that was now beside her
"You know, we make a brilliant team, you and I" Y/N stated looking at the cauldron
"Yes, we do..." Penny whispered when looking at them
Then, Y/N noticed her and for a moment their eyes came across each other. Their hands snaked their way around the stirring rod and into each other, almost out of instinct
Penny noticed this and felt her face grow warmer, then she looked back at Y/N, who was just smiling at her
She decided against her better judgment to lean closer to them, their breath so warm and addictive. But as the blonde approached, Y/N didn't pull back
No, instead they--
"HELLO YOU LOT, WE'RE BACK!!"
Mr. Haywood's voice echoed through the house, scaring the lights out of both of them, Y/N almost fell just because of it
"Penny, dear! Want to help us set the fire?" Mrs. Haywood's voice called from afar
Thank God they didn't approach the room. As soon as she was able to regain her composure, Penny shook her head and got up
"Coming!"
She walked towards the exit in a hurry but stopped just at the doorstep to look back at the curse-breaker
"S-See you in a bit!"
Penny left without saying another word, leaving a mess of a teenager behind, although she was a mess herself at the moment
Regardless, she helped her dad to light a fire in the backyard without actually harming the land. They placed chairs and even got marshmallows
Beatrice and Y/N were also called to the scene to help with the food and this time, they would all eat together
Then came the storytime, Mr. Haywood would terrorize everyone with a fake story he had come up with in the spot, he was good at it, almost as good as Barnaby
But what proved most shocking was the fact that Penny chose to sit next to their guest during this show, she would even search for refuge in their arms when she got too scared, which happened about three times
It was honestly so cute to see someone be so scared of a fake story, although it also made for an amazing excuse to hold someone closer to one
The morning proved to be strange, and the Haywood family quite diverse, but there was no denying that they all had an incredible dynamic
As for Y/N, they were glad to be part of it, just for a night at least
A night to spend with a family
A night to laugh together
And of course, a night to grow closer to Penny

Penny Haywood x MC- A sense of normalcy (2/4)
Game: Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery
____________________
The steam coming from the machine, the crowds of voices becoming the ambiance of the place, even the shadows that passed by now and then
Those elements combined served as a clear indicator as the eyes slowly opened
They had arrived at the station
When Y/N realized this, they moved, only to realize a gentle weight above their head, followed by golden braids following the effects of gravity
Did...did they just cuddled to sleep?
A yawn caught their attention, Beatrice had just woken up from her slumber. While looking around at first, she eventually laid eyes on you
When she did, Beatrice smiled and mouthed "hello" before getting up to pick her things
It was time to continue their journey, and that would have to start with all of them being awake. Gently, Y/N nudged Penny's shoulder, just enough to get a reaction from her
"Wha? Is it time?..."
She muttered in a way reminiscent of that of a child, which of course, brought a smile to Y/N's tired face
"I'm afraid so, Penny. We ought to keep moving"
She whined but eventually moved away from her resting place and stretched while Y/N themselves got up and grabbed their luggage, and since they weren't carrying as much, they also helped with some of Beatrice's
And so, the three youngsters left the train in search of Penny's parents. This station was much more crowded than Hogsmeade's, but it didn't seem to be a problem for the girls as they swiftly moved through the crowds
They kept walking until an adult voice stood out from afar, the resemblance made it clear who they were
"There they are! My little girls!"
"Mum, dad!"
Penny's eyes sparkled upon identifying the source before running towards them and eventually hugging them
"It's so good to see you!" She declared with such relief
"You too, darling!"
Beatrice hugged her parents as well. Considering how much change she had gone through, it was quite a sight to behold
At least until said adults turned their attention to Y/N
"And you must be Y/N. I've heard a lot about you!"
Interestingly enough, Y/N themselves had heard that phrase plenty of times before. One would say they'd grown accustomed to it
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Y/N"
"Likewise, Mr. and Mrs. Haywood. Thank you for bringing me along " They stated smiling while shaking their hand
"It's the least we could do, darling"
Penny's mum stated with a smile, then, her husband grabbed his daughters' luggage and carried it around himself
"Are you ready to continue our journey?"
"Yes! I've never been to the countryside before"
The man smiled at this, watching Y/N's enthusiasm for a trip that never got old
"Then you're in for a treat"
And he was not wrong. Throughout their trip, Y/N got to see first-hand the various placed they had only heard of, even getting to walk amongst Muggles without any problem
But most importantly to them, they got to see the lights that decorated London for the holidays.
The sense of wonder they provided the curse-breaker was, as Penny described it in her mind, "breathtakingly cute"
Eventually, they decided to stop at a nearby restaurant to eat something and recharge their energy. Their destination being quite close
Penny's parents entered first, while Y/N held the door open for them, Beatrice, and eventually Penny herself
"Thank you!"
However, when they closed the door, a small sleigh bell caught their attention. One that was attached to a Mistletoe just above the door
Oh no...
Penny's smile turned into a nervous mess as soon as she noticed the decoration, especially what it meant during this time of the year
"W-Would you look at that, mistletoe"
"Almost didn't s-see it there"
"Yeah..."
Both of them tried their best to keep a normal conversation, not knowing how to approach the topic
Penny wouldn't mind it, in fact, she wanted it to happen. But like this? And so soon? That was so risky!
Y/N too found their cheeks getting warm, even words were failing them now. What were they supposed to do?
The curse-breaker took a step closer towards her, with a flustered smile and iron willpower to keep themselves even breathing at this point
The blonde followed in and stepped closer as well, even reaching for their hand in such a subtle way, only she knew what she was doing
Wouldn't Penny's parents scold them for doing something so bold in front of them? Or--
"Penny? Is everything alright?"
Like a hot knife cutting through butter, Beatrice's voice startled both teenagers, who promptly realized what just happened
Penny scratched the back of her neck as she turned to face her sister
"Y-Yeah, Y/N was just asking me about the menu. You know, since they are new around here!"
Beatrice bought it. It was a surprisingly good lie, especially considering the time she had to make it up
And even if Y/N didn't quite recognize some of the items on the menu, they felt an absurd amount of relief when Bea left them
A heavy sigh left the blonde's lips before she returned her attention to her "friend" and gave them an awkward smile
"Come on, Y/N, l-let's get something to eat!"
They nodded eagerly, just wanting to be put out of that misery
"Absolutely, I'm starving"
The rest of their journey went by with nothing else to report. By the time the Moon was in the sky, they had reached the countryside
It was charming and beautifully stuck in time. Of course, it had enough technology, but it still retained somewhat of the traditional look for a village
Honestly, it could give Hogsmeade a run for its money
"Here we are! Get ready to unpack, girls!" Mr. Haywood announced when entering the house they use for these occasions
The girls grabbed their luggage and went to their rooms, meanwhile, Y/N stood in the living room with Penny's parents
"Excuse me, Y/N?"
They turned round to find both the mother and father sitting on the couch, with a bit of a serious look to them.
"I don't think we've had a chance to talk for real"
For a couple that had been nothing but friendly, this sight was terrifying. Y/N gulped and nodded, embracing whatever might come next
"Absolutely"
"First, dear, let me start by saying that we know about what happened with you and those vaults"
"That is a lot, too much for someone your age to deal with" added Mr. Haywood
"I wasn't alone, I had a lot of help. From friends to teachers, everyone tried their best"
This answer earned a smile from the couple, seeing as Y/N kept somewhat of an optimistic outlook and appreciated everyone who helped them
"Maybe, but it was you who went out of your way to help our girls whenever one of them needed it"
The student didn't respond to this, but instead, they went over the events of the last few years
It was true, they helped Penny both times she resorted to using potions to escape her problems and also accompanied Beatrice in her journey to accept her new self
None of these tasks had a direct relationship with the Vaults, yet Y/N went ahead and helped them both
"What we're trying to say, is that we appreciate having someone looking after them in Hogwarts, especially given what happened"
The man stated while looking over to the room Beatrice had chosen for herself
"It's still a tad challenging to get used to things as they are now, but having good influences always helps"
Y/N smiled at this. They couldn't quite believe the conversation they were in
They were expecting Penny's parents to be a bit stern or angry at them for what happened with the Vaults. Not that it was Y/N's fault, but they had grown accustomed to people blaming them for it
This was more than a welcome change
"They would've done the same for me, you've raised wonderful people. In fact, Penny refused to let me spend the holidays by myself"
This comment earned a chuckle from the woman in front of them
"So we've heard. The least we could do was to bring you along with us, you've earned a little break"
"And talking about it, you must be exhausted from all that traveling we did. Your room is down the hall, next to Penny's"
Mr. Haywood gave them their luggage and they smiled back
"Thank you, Mr, and Mrs. Haywood. I appreciate this gesture"
They waved the teenager goodbye and were left on their own to talk
"They are quite a case, aren't they?" The man chuckled
"Indeed, but rather charming as well"
"I'm just glad they're not the troublemaker the papers make them look like"
...
Y/N was able to find the room assigned to them with no trouble, a cozy room with a bed, nightstand, bookshelf, and even a small window. It was rather charming, although they couldn't unpack their things due to the exhaustion
They placed their luggage next to the bed before getting in it, the soft sheets gently embracing them and providing a shield from the cold weather. Definitely inviting a good sleep
However, there were still prominent thoughts going all over Y/N's mind, from recent memories to the situation they found themselves on
Experiencing all of this journey with the Haywoods didn't feel like a favor or a reward for the student's achievements
It felt... normal
This was a nice break, and surely what most Hogwarts students must've felt when they lived their normal lives
No evil organizations, no Cursed Vaults, nothing that a student shouldn't deal with at that age
Just life, as it was intended to be
Y/N L/N excelled at everything they put their mind to, but if there was one thing in which they were far behind all of the other students...was at living a normal, happy life
Until now of course. It only took six years to get there
And so, the student allowed themselves to close their eyes and finally call it a day after so much walking and talking, it was ironic how this would get them more tired than their usual adventures in the castle

Penny Haywood x MC- Come with me (1/4)
Game: Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery
____________________
The time for the holidays was approaching Hogwarts. The colorful lights and gentle snowfall made paved the way for the most peaceful time of the year
A time when there was no such thing as an enemy and tensions were indeed at an all-time low
This would be an ideal time to celebrate and surround yourself with loved ones, but after a brutal sixth year, festive wouldn't be a way to describe how Y/N was feeling
It was so hard to believe that it was over, that after... everything, they were free. However, it didn't feel like a victory
In fact, it didn't feel like anything. Even Beatrice wasn't as gloom
This behavior did not go unnoticed, however. Across the Great Hall, while the Curse-Breaker was staring at their giant sandwich, their friends were plotting
Well, at least the ones who hadn't left for Christmas yet
Tulip, Liz, Tonks, and Penny were waiting on Chiara, who was holding a plate with barely eaten food
"They didn't even eat. They just took a bite to not make me feel bad..."
The silver-haired girl sighed, earning sympathy from the girls, except for Penny, who was looking back at them
Not many students were left, but Y/N was so lost in thought that they didn't notice the girls
"This isn't good. Y/N has been as lonely as Talbot"
"...Who?" Tonks asked
"The point is, there has to be something we can do to help them"
"I tried cheering them up with Puffskeins, but Y/N just ended up falling asleep..." Liz sighed in defeat
"Have you tried taking them to Hogsmeade?" Tulip suggested to Penny
"Yes, but they didn't want to go. Said there were too many memories"
There was silence after that, at least until more ideas brewed
Y/N went through unimaginable lengths to protect their friends and even ensure their happiness. After everything that happened with Rakepick and the Vaults, it was only fair that they got some of that as well
The girls were devastated to know that wasn't the case, and they made it their mission to correct it immediately
Unfortunately, every attempt at improving their friend's mood had failed, and with Christmas approaching, time was running out
Unless...
"Wait, you said Hogsmeade brought Y/N bad memories?"
Penny nodded at the question, curious to see what Tonks had come up with
"Why not take Y/N somewhere else? Maybe a change of scenery would help them"
"Brilliant idea, Tonks! It could do wonders for their health if the environment is right"
Chiara's comment earned a proud smile from the methamorphmagus, at least until Liz came in with another question
"But where would it be ideal for that?"
With her hand on her chin, looking around for an answer. Her blue eyes eventually landed on the Christmas tree that was decorating the place
That's when she got a fragment of what could be an idea. She just needed a bit more intimation
"Where are you going on Christmas?"
The girls seemed to pick up on this idea, but their reactions didn't help much
"Y/N L/N is one of my best friends, I wouldn't let them anywhere near my parents"
With Tulip's parents working for the Ministry and Y/N being...well, Y/N, it only made sense
" I'm staying to help Hagrid look after the creatures"
Liz's statement made Chiara look at her with surprise
"And I will learn from Madam Pomfrey. Maybe we can get together for lunch!"
The silver-haired girl smiled at the idea as soon as she heard it
"I'd love that!"
The girls' excitement only made Penny worry, seeing as her options were running out. But that's when she thought about what she'd be doing in the holidays
Visiting the countryside, away from conflict and just near family and friends from a nearby village
"Then I'll ask Y/N to come with me for the holidays!" She thought out loud, gaining the attention of her friends
"You sure your parents would let you?"
"I'll send them an owl to ask them. Hopefully, they'll say yes"
Shortly after that, her gaze shifted to the student at the table
"But first, the guest of honor"
Without further due she approached Y/N and sat in front of them, her presence making then snap out of it
"Oh. Hey, Penny"
She returned the greeting with a smile
"Hi, Y/N. How are you today?"
"I'm holding up. I thought you'd be going with your family for Christmas"
This provided Penny the opportunity she was looking for, and she wouldn't waste it
"Actually, that's what I came here to talk about"
The suspense that accompanied that statement made Y/N look at her with concerned eyes
"Is everything alright?"
The Hufflepuff picked up on this and gently smiled at them
"Oh yes, don't worry about it. See, I was thinking..."
A sigh left her soft lips before she finally allowed herself to be as honest as she could with Y/N, or at least enough to proceed
"You've done far too much for us, especially this year, and while it has been difficult, it's been even worse for you"
"That's...a way to describe it, yes"
"But you deserve to enjoy this breath of fresh air, Y/N, and I was wondering if you..."
If she had their attention, now she also counted with their curiosity
"Yes?"
Her blue eyes met their e/c eyes as she finally asked what she came there to know
"If you'd like to come to the countryside with me for the holidays"
Penny waited for Y/N to politely decline the invitation as they would probably do given their mood
However, something that the young lady didn't account for was that talking to her would always help to cheer them up, even now
So rather than declining such an offer, Y/N showed surprise
"Really? You want me to go with you?"
Their reaction was as if they had forgotten just how much they meant to Penny, but seeing this change in behavior gave her the boost she needed to continue
"Of course! There's nobody else I'd rather spend them with"
She could tell that the curse-breaker was moved by her words, but also that they were seriously considering her offer. It was only a minute, but it felt like an eternity to the blonde witch
"Well, I could use the scenery change"
There she was, the confirmation she needed to get started. Penny got up and flashed one of the brightest smiles Y/N had ever seen
Not literally of course, but he had to be dead for it not to be heartwarming
"Brilliant! I'll send an owl to my parents to tell them about it. I'll tell you when we're leaving and...Y/N?"
"Yes?"
"Thank you for giving me this opportunity"
Without further due, she left the Great Hall and headed straight to her Common Room so she could write a letter asking her parents if Y/N could indeed tag along
Penny would explain that they were responsible for saving Hogwarts on multiple occasions, including the Haywood sisters themselves and also the fact that they didn't quite deserve to spend such a gloomy Christmas by themselves
The owl left as soon as she delivered the letter. Fortunately, the weather was calm enough for it to fly normally and there weren't as many letters going around
It took a day for Penny to receive an answer, and what she saw made her squeal with overwhelming joy. Y/N would spend the holidays with them
For Y/N it might be just a change of scenery, but for her? It was all she wanted
To spend the best time of her year surrounded by the people she loved the most, no exceptions
And so, she went to find Y/N and tell them that the time to leave was near...after eating breakfast, of course
They all ate together and wished Y/N a pleasant trip. One could tell that more than saddened by their departure, they were glad they were taking their time
Except for Alanza, she wouldn't let go, literally. Even if she wouldn't admit it, that made Penny a bit jealous
Regardless, the Haywood sisters and Y/N found themselves walking into the Hogsmeade train station, with their baggage included
The plan was to take the train, get to a specific location where they'd meet Penny's parents, and from there continue with the holidays
Nothing Penny hadn't done many times before, so it wasn't all that complicated to follow
"I'm so glad you agreed to come with us, Y/N!"
"I think you'll find the countryside rather charming. Even I still enjoy it" Beatrice added
"Then I guess I really have to see it for myself"
"You'll love nature in there, it's so relaxing. There, let's find a seat!"
Penny grabbed Y/N's hand out of instinct as she guided them through the station, with Beatrice not far behind, chuckling at the sight of it
Plenty of things had taken place during their sixth year at Hogwarts, most of them dreadful, but one exception was Beatrice's relationship with both Penny and Y/N themselves
While still adjusting to her new self, she found comfort in the curse-breaker's company and help. Now she was ready to move on
And it showed, while they were all waiting for the train, the chatter was not gloomy or resentful, but rather charming instead
It even brought some semblance of normality
Something that seemed like such a rare commodity nowadays
Fortunately, they didn't have to wait long for the train to arrive. They had timed their arrival perfectly, which was a relief considering that the station's clock cannot be relied on
It didn't take long for them to find a place to sit while the journey began, Penny and Beatrice sat on one side and Y/N on the other. Regardless, the window provided a breathtaking view of the landscape
As if the mountains and fields weren't beautiful enough, the snow gave them a refreshing new look. That was perhaps the best thing about winter, it made everything look brand new, even if it was older than you
An hour and a half went by with nothing to report. A hint of orange had taken over the scene, reminiscing the colors of the past season in a gentle way
Beatrice fell asleep in no time, practically leaning on her sister, who was reviewing potion materials when she noticed this
"Hey Y/N? Do you mind if I sit with you?"
The curse-breaker, on the other hand, was reading a book that Madam Villanelle recommended for the long trip. They lowered the book to look at the blonde and immediately understood what she meant
And so, Y/N moved so that there was enough space for Penny. She wanted to give her sister more space to get some rest...and it was also the perfect excuse to scoot a bit closer
"Thanks!"
In a swift motion, the blonde gently laid her sister to rest and got up, switching seats so that she was now beside her other companion
Said companion found themselves unable to return to their book, as the light that made it through the window highlighted Penny's delicate features
From the way her braids were done, to the softness and color of her lips, and more importantly, her joyful attitude
Y/N found themselves lucky just to be witness to this, but it also came to them that so far, they hadn't said anything to the girl, they had just tagged along
Perhaps now would be the right time to correct that
"Penny?"
The delicate way her name left Y/N's lips got her attention in seconds, and when she saw them put away their book, Penny was genuinely intrigued
"Yes?"
They scratched the back of their neck as words failed to come out at first, but after a sigh, that was no longer a problem
"Thank you for taking me with you. I mean it"
She gave them a sympathetic smile, she knew why she was doing this and didn't feel like she was owed anything
"There's no need to thank me, I didn't want you to stay alone in the castle"
"I'm not precisely alone, but I get what you mean"
"You didn't have to do it"
This time, both of them shook off the nervousness
"But I wanted to. You saved Hogwarts, Y/N, but you also saved my word. I want to share it with you"
The curse-breaker didn't know how to answer that. Although their surprised expression and later smile said everything
Penny spared them of the silence and chose to continue, with a softer approach this time, and one closer to the truth as well
Her truth, of course
"Besides, I like spending time with you outside the school. Like that time we went to the dragon reserve"
Y/N chuckled at the memory of that "field trip", choosing to focus on the less lethal parts of it, but also going with the flow of the conversation
"That time when we roasted marshmallows together and slept in an oversized tent?"
"Exactly! But...less dangerous"
They laughed at this comment, taking the opportunity to go over the events of the last year together
Not only the dragon reserve but also getting to welcome Alanza to the school, the times they had snuck out together to investigate or just talk in the Courtyard
It wasn't a Celestial Ball or a tournament, but there was no denying those small moments
Of course, it had been a dark year, but it wasn't one without its lighter moments, and even if Y/N couldn't find enough of them, Penny would provide light, for both of them
This chatter lasted for at least another hour, soon, both of them returned to their respective books, smiling tiredly after making the journey much sweeter
But then, after a few minutes of reading, the Hufflepuff felt a gentle weight on her shoulder. Glancing over, she discovered the familiar h/c hair so close to her
Did...did Y/N just fall asleep on her shoulder?
Yes, yes they did
And they looked so peaceful as well
Penny found herself smiling fondly at this
" I could use a little rest..." She thought
Penny didn't think it twice before she closed her book, putting it to the side
Then, she got comfortable and snuggled closer to Y/N, allowing herself to cuddle up and just...close her eyes too

Hogwarts Mystery- I’d never outgrow you
Game: Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery
AKA The Rowan Khanna appreciation chapter. While I waited for you guys to decide on the next One-shot I kept playing through a few chapters of the story and there was this scene where Rowan and you get together at a train station
It tugged my heartstrings, let me tell you. This one isn't a romance, just a reminder of pure friendship, so please enjoy!
____________________
Talbott Winger, that mysterious boy from Ravenclaw
Skye Parkin, the Quidditch legend
Chiara Lobosca, the lone wolf aspiring to be a healer
Even Dobby, that poor elf serving the Malfoys
I have been in Hogwarts for about six years and I can say for sure that I have collected an incredible amount of friendships from all sorts of places
Something that honestly I never thought would be the case. To this day, I don't know how I became that popular, but it's certainly something I'm grateful for
Unfortunately, having to deal with the Cursed Vaults also meant that I would get to spend far less time with them, thus barely giving me any chance to hang out with my closest friends
Even now, I was at the train station at Hogsmeade waiting for a witch to give me the last two ingredients for a potion to get an invisibility cloak to sneak into the Ministry
Now that's something that honestly I never thought would be the case...ever
Regardless, I walked to the station accompanied by none other than Rowan Khanna, who was quite cautious about how I went about doing things
They explained that they were worried about me since Ben became, well, Ben
Actually,  everyone else involved in the last vault emerged so different. I take it my rush to get into the Ministry and stop Rakepick would raise a few red flags for them
Eventually, our conversation led to a particular question asked by them
...
"Do you think what happened in the last Cursed Vault changed you?"
"Yes, of course I've changed by what happened. For better or worse..."
"Or perhaps it's for better and worse...?"
"How do you mean?"
"I mean, perhaps what happened has made you more suspicious for the worse, but braver for the better..."
Rowan took a moment to consider their words, then looked at me with a smile
"I think sometimes the worst moments can bring out the best in ourselves"
That was... interesting, to say the least. Not that I didn't appreciate the wisdom or the concern, it's just that I didn't quite feel that different from the person I was before going into the vaults
If anything I'd gotten way busier
"And I think ... we're the only ones who haven't given up on this train arriving"
"The train station is rather empty for ten past ten in the morning"
Rowan was quick to put their input into that statement, something that I chose to follow instead of touching up on the whole 'Vault trauma' situation
"Except that is not still ten past ten. Not really"
Rowan nodded. There was indeed something very strange about this train station, and that came from someone who has seen plenty of weirdness
"At least the train delay gives us some time to talk"
Rowan, always an enthusiast. That's something rare these days
I tried my best to be a friend to them and went along with the idea
"Right! What would you like to talk about?"
"How have you been? What's new with you?"
That question was odd, especially considering everything that had been happening recently
"I feel like the whole school knows what's new with me..."
"I was being polite" Rowan confessed, awkwardly scratching the back of their neck
"So then what's new with you?"
"Studying, of course. Tutoring. But you knew that..."
That was Rowan alright, but there had to be more than that, right?
"But what friends do you spend time with? I've been so busy with Rakepick, Jacob, and the final Cursed Vault"
"My only friends were really your friends so..."
That comment caught me off-guard. I had seen Rowan teaching Barnaby about plants the other day! How could that be the case?
"That's not true...is it?"
There was a hint of worry and even guilt in my voice, the fact that they didn't answer didn't help, but Rowan didn't show any sadness or anger towards it either
They either had too much time to think about it or were just being too polite to show how they felt
B-But that couldn't be right! We have tons of friends! L-Like Tonks, Barnaby, Skye, or even... Wait
Were they our friends or were they just my friends?
I...I had never thought about it. Now I feel awful for leaving Rowan by themselves so much
They noticed that I had remained silent for too long, I stuttered some senseless words, just trying to get a topic of conversation that could help lighten up the mood...but it didn't work
"It can't be that we have nothing to talk about anymore" I finally admitted out loud
I felt defeated knowing that I couldn't even get a topic of conversation out when we used to talk about the most trivial things out of nowhere before
Then, I felt a hand on my shoulder to command attention, Rowan showed me a kind smile
"It's not unusual to grow out of old friendships when you find new ones. And you're always making new friends"
"Well, you are too... You have..."
I tried to mention the friends that Rowan had made by themselves, but they just laughed it off
"I have a lot of wonderful books"
At least they were taking it with humor
"But I haven't outgrown our friendship, Rowan. Unless you've outgrown me...?"
"Never!"
The cheerful way they said that sent a wave of relief over me. It was strange, Rowan had rarely been the subject of my thoughts, but when I asked that question, I felt like they were the sole object of my attention
Perhaps it was this newfound nostalgia I had for my best friend
"Good!"
Was all I was able to reply, but I was genuinely happy that they still considered me a friend
"You're still the only one I can be my weird self with. And you can always be your weird self with me, too"
Immediately, a smirk formed on my face at this phrase reminded me of a period long before any of the trouble, it was something Rowan had said in our first year
"Who are you calling weird, Rowan?"
The way I asked that earned a laugh from Rowan themselves, they too picked up on this
"Now we're talking like the 'us' I remember"
Seeing as the train wasn't arriving anytime soon, we walked towards a nearby bench and sat on it while we talked. This time about our journey together as students and adventurers from time to time
Like the first time we met, the scarf they got thanks to my advice, or when I stood up to Merula for them, even that time that we competed to be a prefect
I never thought I'd be so nostalgic, with my mind so stuck to the present, the past never seemed appealing
At least until now. So many friends I had collected over the years, and all of them with their own agenda
But Rowan? They had always been looking after me, even without me asking it
They knew that the moment I befriended Penny, a lot more people would come around. I'd like to argue otherwise, but it couldn't deny it either
But still, even after all of this, they considered me their best mate
"Did you ever cast the Tickling Charm in that very first duel you had with Merula?"
Yes! She wouldn't stop laughing! How do you not remember? You were there!
"Have you any idea of how much knowledge I've stuffed in my head, Y/N? I can't remember everything"
They touched the side of their head to reinforce that point
"These days, I can't even remember the last time I saw Merula have a laugh..."
I didn't mean to get so grim, but it was a bit difficult to be as cheerful these days, at least for me
"You haven't been laughing much either, Y/N. I miss your laugh'
"Perhaps  I can crack a smile...if that train with my Powdered Moonstone and Pearl Dust ever arrives..."
I stood up to look at the clock nearby, checking it if was still stuck in time
"What time is it now, anyway?"
"Rictusempra!"
Suddenly, I was overwhelmed by laughter, It felt as if I was being tickled mercilessly by someone. It was so much, I pretty much failed to contain it as soon as I was hit
This was the work of a charm, no doubt, and when I managed to look at my friend, I also found the culprit
"Rowan HA-HA Khanna! This isn't funny HA-HA!"
"I needed to be sure you're still able to have a laugh, Y/N"
They stated proudly. Now they were asking for it
"Is that HA-HA... right?"
While they were distracted, I managed to raise my wand and cast the Tickling Charm as well
"Rictusempra!"
Rowan started to laugh out loud as well, they even fell to the ground in tears as they did. No doubt people were staring at us because of this crazed display
As soon as I was able to regain my composure, I reached out to them and helped them get back up. Although we were both still dying of laughter
Y/N! HA-HA! Now we'll both be HA-HA laughing until HA-HA it literally hurts!"
I wrapped an arm around their shoulders and she did with mine as well. We had to keep some sort of stability
"All... HA-HA your... HA-HA fault!"
Then, Rowan pointed their wand at me and cast  Finite Incantatem on me. I could feel the tickling slowly disappear, finally letting me catch my breath
Honestly, few things compared to the relief that came with being liberated from the Rictusempra spell. Which reminded me...
I grabbed my wand and did the same to Rowan, allowing them to stop laughing for the sake of sanity
However, as the laughter stopped, the smiles that came with it did not. We looked at each other and found the quirky first-year students that we once were
It had been so long since I genuinely had a good laugh at something, or pulled a prank on someone that wasn't all that dangerous
There comes a time, the darkness and danger take too much of our lives to enjoy a small moment of silliness, as we should be during our youth
But sometimes, it takes only your best mate to realize that you can in fact, still enjoy those brief moments
Thank you, Rowan Khanna

Merula Snyde x MC- Not now, not ever
Game: Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery
____________________
The year was 1997, a second wizarding war was in full effect thanks to the resurrection of the dark lord Voldemort, the incompetence of the Ministry, and worst of all, Dumbledore's death
These were truly dark times for the world of magic, and even worse for a certain witch who was related to Death Eaters
Merula Snyde had a relatively peaceful life after graduating Hogwarts in 1991, but as soon as the mass breakout in Azkaban happened, she became a target. Turns out her family wanted her back and assist in the war
Over the course of seven years, and thanks to the influence of a certain student, Merula's views changed quite a lot, and these changes did not align with the Death Eaters's philosophy
Hence why she was on the run, not even getting a place to call her own for the moment. Her campaign to remain hidden led her to a pub, just to take a small break to eat and drink something
Currently, she was looking out the window, contemplating the rain that covered the seemingly empty streets, when a waitress approached her table with a butterbeer in her hand
"Your order, miss"
Confused, she turned to see the woman
"I didn't ask for this"
"Our client over there ordered it for you"
She pointed at someone sitting by themselves, with a trenchcoat that covered most features of their figure, thus forcing Merula to stand up and approach them, her wand at the ready
"Nobody just invites a drink like that. Do I know you?"
This made the figure turn around, making Merula step back in shock, her tired purple eyes wide as the figure smiled at her
"I believe you do, yes"
The young woman couldn't believe what she was seeing. It was the curse breaker themselves, just a bit older and a few more scars, but still them
"...L/N? Y/N L/N?"
They smiled upon hearing their name being said
"Hello, Merula"
She was speechless. It had been years since they last wrote and even more since they last saw each other
It was too good to be true if they just happened to be in the same pub she was using to rest. And so, her mistrust got the better of her
"How do I know it's not someone using a Polyjuice potion?"
The coated person laughed at this, a sound that was different from what she remembered but felt just the same somehow
"Pfft. Come on, you know how awful I am at making potions"
"...It is you"
The curse breaker smiled and suggested to get a table together. While still somewhat reluctant, Merula took a bit to comply, but eventually led them to the table she was using
Now, they were sharing a drink while looking out the window. Or at least Y/N was, Merula's distinct eyes were fixed on them
The scars they had received through the years. While not alarmingly noticeable for someone normal, Merula spotted it right away
She had been running away from this war this entire time, but Y/N? They had been risking their neck out there. Legilimency wasn't needed to guess that
It wasn't long until they noticed her remaining completely silent while staring at them
"What?"
"It's just that...you look terrible. What have you been doing?"
Y/N laughed nervously, scratching the back of their neck
"Saving as many people as I can. There isn't much I can do to end this war, but I can reduce the fallout"
Yes, at the cost of your own health"
"Careful Merula, that almost sounded like you cared about me"
Y/N laughed at this and for a while, she couldn't help but chuckle at this. At least their sense of humor was still intact... although she wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not
"And you? I take it you've been 'traveling' a lot?"
Merula nodded slightly while taking a sip from her drink, brushing it off
"Maybe I do. It doesn't matter"
Then, Y/N leaned closer to her
"Actually, that's why I'm here"
This statement caught her attention, making her look at them
"What do you mean, L/N?"
"I'm here to help you, Merula"
This confirmed some of her theories. Y/N L/N has always been a busy person, so it wasn't a coincidence to just find them in the same pub she was in, but the reason for it wasn't the one she suspected
And she wasn't exactly fond of that
"Excuse you? You've been looking for me instead of helping the people that actually need you?"
"That is precisely what I'm doing, helping"
The witch let out an angry huff. She didn't like what she was hearing and it wasn't getting any better either
"You must've been hit with too many charms. I don't need your help, L/N"
Just after saying that, she finished what was left of her drink and got up
"Although I appreciate the sentiment"
She didn't even let the curse breaker explain themselves, although that might have been for the better. With that, she left the establishment and headed back to the streets under the disguise of the rain that was still hitting the scene
Merula might have left them at the pub, but Y/N was still in her thoughts. That student that earned her disdain during their first years at Hogwarts, that selfish, arrogant magic user that...
...that chose to give her a songbook for Christmas, and that same student that wouldn't leave her side when she got hit by the Cruciatus curse
Even the same person that dragged her to a massive party when they graduated. She hated to admit it, but it was one of her fondest memories
But unfortunately, things change,  and as she arrived at the room she had been using to stay for the night, that became clear to her. In this small, wooden room she took comfort by knowing that she would be safe enough to keep moving the next morning
And so, Merula got in her bed, not even changing her clothes, for she was just too tired to do anything else for the day
Or at least that was the plan until the door squeaked opened, that eerie sound was all she needed to grab her wand by the nightstand and aim it at the intruders, only to be blasted into the wall by them, her precious weapon falling to the floor as a result
She found herself unable to talk but was able to see her attackers, the same people she was running away from. Those masks, the robes, no...
They were Death Eaters, and they had found her
"You can't run away forever, Merula Snyde"
"Watch... me..." She struggled to even talk, but her hatred for them was far greater
"This is a waste of time, I'll end her now"
One of these hooded assailants moved closer, stopped only by the other one
"We're instructed to bring her back alive"
"Fine..."
Both of them were now about to capture her, Fear crawled up Merula's spine at the sight of this. She didn't want to be dragged into this, or forced to take others' lives away just because someone ordered her to
Merula didn't even care about this war, yet she was also suffering because of it. Fortunately, the commotion had been loud enough
"Confringo!"
Suddenly, a small explosion took place in the room that sent one of the Death Eaters out of the way with brutal force by an unseen third party. The other turned to face them immediately after this
"Expelliarmus!"
A blast of red energy snatched the wizard's wand away from him and as the other stood back up, a final jinx was used
"Flipendo Maxima!"
With that, both of the Death Eaters were thrown out the window of the already unstable room and back into the streets, with the impact strong enough to break one of their wands upon landing.
It all happened so fast, Merula didn't even see what was happening, only when she fell to the floor was she able to understand
As for the Death Eaters, they stood back up, wounded and caught off-guard by this merciless assault on them
In front of them, was a single person in a trenchcoat, but their smile was replaced with a stern glare
One of the dark wizards leaned on the other's shoulder to stand up. The other had his wand pointed at them.
"You will regret this, Y/N L/N"
"Not nearly as much as you if you mess with her again"
Predicting an attack from the enemy, the curse breaker struck first, making the hand of the Death Eater started to grow spikes in an awfully uncomfortable manner, forcing him to stop his actions
Seeing Merula running back into the rainy alleyway with her hand at the ready, Y/N standing in front of them, and the poor conditions the dark wizards were in at the moment, there was only one option
To apparate
And escape they did, not wanting to spend another second in their presence
And so, it was just Merula, Y/N, and the rain
"What are you doing here?" She faced them with an unsure look on her
She was of course, happy to see them, but was more than surprised by what taken place just now
"I heard the commotion and came to see what was happening. Not that you needed the assistance, of course"
That was one way to put it. Merula wasn't sure of what would have happened if Y/N hadn't shown up, maybe she would break free from the spell and retaliate, or the Death Eaters would take her away after an intense, brutal fight
It was so unclear, thankfully, it wasn't something she had to find out
"...Thank you"
This sentence caught Y/N by surprise, but they chose not to tease her about it. Instead, they just nodded
"Don't mention it"
They were about to leave when the witch's voice gained their attention once again
"...Can I ask you something?"
"Of course"
She gathered the courage she needed to look at the curse-breaker straight in the eyes
"Why me?"
"Beg your pardon?"
"You could be out there helping to minimize the damage caused by the war, but instead you chose to come to my rescue. Why?"
Y/N stored their wand. If it weren't for the rain making it difficult to see, she could have sworn that she saw them smile at the question
"Because I wanted to give you a reminder"
Knowing where the conversation was heading, they approached her, abandoning the alleyway to stand under the roof of the small building, shielding them from the rain
"A reminder of what?"
"That not everyone is out to get your head"
It was relieving to hear that, but even more, than it was just proven to her, but her gut told her that there was something else in there, hidden meaning or request, and she had a good idea of what was it
"So what, you're expecting me to join your little order and fight my parents?"
"No, you've fought more than enough for a lifetime. I just want you to rest and be safe"
That... that had to be the most caring thing anyone had ever said to her, Merula couldn't even keep up the act at this point
"And what about you?"
"I still have a few things to do, but as soon as I'm done, I'll come back you"
Y/N took a couple of steps closer to her, placing a hand on her shoulder
"Because, contrary to what you believe, I do care about you. I never left your side at Hogwarts, I won't start now"
Merula looked down, even started sobbing a little, but before Y/N could do anything, she looked up at them, with tears in her violet eyes
Y/N wasn't looking at the hardened Slytherin that always seemed to antagonize them
They were looking at the woman who was tired of running away and paying an unfair price for making her own decisions
That same woman that needed just a hint of light to keep going
"...Promise it"
Y/N got a hold of her hand to make her look at them. While they were smiling, she could tell it wasn't the usual friendly or goofy smile
This was different
"Merula Snyde, you have my word that I won't ever leave your side, no matter what"
There was no hesitation or weakness in their voice, and as their eyes looked at her the entire time, it became clear to Merula that Y/N truly meant every single word they said
An do, she responded with the first thing that came to her mind, a hug
"Thank you..."
She muttered, burying her head on their shoulder. This caught the curse-breaker by surprise, but they hugged her as soon as they regained their composure
They remained like that for a minute, no word or thought came out, just this single gesture
"Come on. I know a place where you can rest without getting assassinated"
Merula broke embrace to punch them in the shoulder, making both of them laugh a little
"I missed you too"

Penny Haywood x MC- A risk far too great
Game: Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery
_____________________________
My stay at Hogwarts so far has been... interesting, to say the least
Unwillingly, I became responsible for breaking the horrible curses that came as a result of the Cursed Vaults. All in pursue of my missing brother, Jacob.
Not that I didn't want to save everyone or find my brother, but I didn't know it would be this difficult
However, when we entered the third vault and broke the sleepwalking curse, I thought I was getting the hang of it
...And then came the fourth curse
Not only was it difficult to understand, but this one got quite personal
See, this curse kidnapped students and trapped them inside the various portraits that decorate the school's walls. One of the victims happened to be the first-year Hufflepuff, Beatrice Haywood.
As in, Penny's adorable little sister
That is no way to be introduced to Hogwarts, I should know
But what weighed on me the most was Penny's reaction to this, she was devastated and obviously not the little ray of sunshine I knew and loved
Our adventures together were by far my favorite thing about all these years. We've grown to know each other so well, she even picked me to go with her to a dance
She provided all the happiness that I needed, but now, she was the one that needed happiness
Regardless, it served as a strong motivator to break the curse as soon as possible, which led me to this very moment...
Joined by Merula, Bill, and the new faculty member, Professor Rakepick, I was discussing the next step in our plan to enter the fourth vault. We were in the Courtyard as to not raise any suspicions
However, our plans would soon collide with my personal goals, and not for the better
...
"Now, who shall we take into the Cursed Vault with us?"
Rakepick asked us, making my mind start racing with possibilities
"Well, there are pros and cons to anyone we pick..."
We looked around at the people present in the courtyard. From Badeea to Tonks and even Barnaby, we discussed who could bring more to this table
Eventually, the sight of beautiful, blonde hair caught my attention. There she was, Penny Haywood herself trying her best to go on with her day
Always so resourceful and determined to help others, even now that she was the one that needed the help. Oh, Penny...
It was true that she could help but I...I just couldn't sentence to go into such a place, what if we lose? Or worse...
No, there was no chance I would risk bringing her along this time. I had to find someone else that could assist us
In my mind, I was already narrowing down the best candidates, although I didn't want to put any of them in danger, especially--
"What about Haywood? We could use her potion knowledge"
Merula's voice broke my concentration, I immediately turned to her upon hearing that
"Merula is right, Penny could help us brew a potion if we need it at the vault if we need it"
Bill added. The sole mention of her name in this conversation was enough to send shivers down my spine
I could even feel my breathing getting a bit erratic at this. But before anything else could happen, I threw a quick counter-offer
"B-But what about Charlie? He knows about dragons far more than any of us. W-We could use his knowledge more!"
Merula looked at me strangely. I subtly shook my head to her, telling her to back off on that idea with my eyes filled with worry
She seemed to pick up on this and gave me a subtle nod, putting her hand on her chin
For the last months, Merula and I had grown closer together as well. She might not admit it until earlier today, but we were good friends
In fact, she was likely the only person (besides Rowan) that knew about my umm... My opinion on Penny, hence why she understood my signals so quickly
"Now that you mention, he could help us defeat the dragon first. After he squeals at the sight of it"
For a split second, I felt relieved to have her on my side...then Rakepick talked
"While that is true, I agree that Miss Haywood could help us the most in this case"
She was quick to shoot down the idea, but why? Why send Penny into something so dangerous without even giving her time to prepare!
There was NO way I'd send Penny off like that, not her, especially after everything we've been through
"I don't think that's a good idea, professor. Penny has been quite unstable since the beginning of the year, she won't concentrate"
I responded with the first thing that came to my mind, just desperately trying to change their mind
"Or she could be perfectly motivated to give her best to save her sister"
"Hasn't Penny helped you with the other vaults before, Y/N? She has more experience in dealing with them"
Bill was not helping. Of course Penny tagged along a few times, but mostly when we knew that it wasn't incredibly dangerous like now
It's a dragon we're talking about! Not a Boggart or an Ice Knight
"Bill, we're not bringing her with us"
My friend noticed the sudden change in my tone and looked at me with a confused look
"Why not? Is something wrong with that?"
What!? Of course there was, Bill! You'd have to be blind not to notice!
My worry found a shield in the form of anger, but it was quickly released as I yelled out of pure emotion
"WE'RE NOT SENDING PENNY OUT THERE, THAT'S IT!!"
All three of my allies were taken back by this, even Rakepick. Taking a quick look at the rest of the students that were also there I noticed that they had all shut up and were now staring at me...even her
I couldn't deal with all of those eyes, not at the same time. What was I even supposed to say after such a display?
"I...I have to go. I'll be back for tonight, I promise"
Following what both my heart and mind were screaming me to do, I ran away back to the castle without looking at anyone
The place was awfully silent for a couple of seconds, but the chatter resumed shortly after, only a bit less intense this time
"Was it something I said? I've never seen Y/N have an outburst like that..."
Bill felt guilty, but he didn't even know why. Of course, it was always awful when you made someone react like that without knowing the reason
"Miss Snyde, you said before this conversation that Y/N is your friend, right?"
The teacher caught the attention of Merula, who was still looking at the door
"Yes?..."
"Do you mind explaining what was that all about, then?"
Merula was silent for a moment. She wouldn't tell the exact reason, but she was clever enough to coat it while technically not lying
"Well...I reckon to have one cursed Haywood was too much for L/N, maybe they don't want to get the other one killed. It would stain their pride"
"Y/N has been lacking sleep since this all began, too. They don't want anyone else involved in this" The Weasley added
"You may be right...Do you think you can talk some sense into them?"
Merula then spotted a certain blonde running into the castle, going in the same direction. Under a mask of carelessness, a genuine smile grew
"That won't be necessary, professor"
...
My instinct brought me to the Artifact Room, where I immediately closed the door upon entering and just got to my knees when my body was unable to continue
My hands rested on them as tears started to form on their own, despite my best attempts to stop them
Why was it so hard to understand that Penny was off the table?
Why was it so hard to understand that she was the last one I wanted to get involved?
Just...why?...
I felt my breathing adopt a slightly faster pace, but only for a couple of seconds. I was too busy fighting with my thoughts and just trying to make any sense of it to realize that someone had opened the door
By the time I knew it, someone was handing me down a potion
"Here, drink this"
That voice...
Not wanting her to see me like this, I looked over my shoulder to confirm it. Those beautiful blue eyes, the braided hair, the worry in her face...
I took the potion but didn't open it
"Penny? What's this?"
"It's a calming draught, I always have a spare one just in case"
"That's very considerate of you, b-but really, I'm fine"
Then she placed a hand on my shoulder, giving me a sympathetic look
"I heard you scream my name in the courtyard, Y/N. You can trust me"
Of course lying wasn't going to work, I made a mess back there
Reluctantly, I removed the cork and drank the calming draught. Just by feeling it go down my throat, I could feel my thoughts become clearer and my breathing was slowing down on its own
"Thank you..."
I said handing her the potion, but then Penny sat down in front of me, trying to get a better look at me
"Do you want to talk? You know you can trust me, Y/N"
I sighed before nodding slightly. Taking a quick glance at her before immediately trying to look away
Might as well tell her now. This was about her after all
"W-Well...Professor Rakepick says she found a way into the Cursed Vault, it's a portkey that will activate tonight"
Her gasp made me look at her, she was visibly surprised by this
"Tonight? But those are wonderful news!"
"They are. Rakepick says we should take someone else with us, but then everyone started leaning towards you and--"
"I'm in"
Upon hearing this, I felt my heart take the hit, quickly reminding me of what I was fearing just a second ago
Despite being under the influence of that potion, distress was beyond visible
"What? No"
Penny gave me a puzzled look. Never before had I prohibited her to come with me on an adventure
What was particularly concerning was how quick I was to brush her off
"Why not?"
"Penny, it's far too dangerous! Even a bloody dragon will be there"
She picked up on my increasing anguish, but her own emotions were just as strong at the moment
"And yet you're still going, Y/N! That's no justification"
"Yes, because we've been chosen and trained specifically to deal with this! There's no telling what could happen if you go!"
"I want to go, I need to see it for myself when the curse is broken. Plus you could use my help!"
I shook my head in denial. I knew she of all people had a reason to go, but the risk was far too big for a reward that was still uncertain
"There are plenty of ways you can help us from here"
The Hufflepuff was growing frustrated by my attempts at persuading her out of this mission, maybe to the point of getting personal
"Why don't you want me to go? I need to save my sister!"
It hurt to see her so angry at me, but as I felt the effect of the draught vanishing, I too adopted a similar gaze
I felt the hairs on my arms raising once again and the heartbeat increasing, even my face was heating up
"You're too valuable to lose!"
"Oh? And why am I the one who's too valuable? Why isn't it Bill? Or Merula? Or--"
Blood rushing
Tears escaping
Voice raising and suddenly
"BUT I DON'T LOVE THEM LIKE I LOVE YOU, OKAY!?"
Silence
Pure and suffocating silence
It quickly took over the room as soon as my voice stopped echoing through
I myself couldn't help but cover my mouth in shock by what just happened. Not just because I raised my voice against Penny, but because of what I said
Did I really just?...
Oh no
Beyond shocked, I looked at her. She was speechless with her eyes staring at me in disbelief
"You do?..."
"I have to get out of--"
Once again, I tried to run from it, but it didn't work. My arm was stopped by her hand and her startled voice
"N-No, it's okay! Really"
I turned around to see her yet again, not able to even think of a word for her. For sure she would turn me down, or worse
But her smile, that gentle, warm smile was there. The same one she showed me whenever we were goofing around or brewing something together
It was there
And so was that soft gaze she had whenever I had done something stupid and she was trying to help me like...well... right now
But this time, it hit different
"I want to hear it from you, Y/N. Please" Her sweet voice practically begging for me to stay. I didn't find myself to be strong enough to deny her request
And so, against everything my mind told me, I stayed behind, with Penny
She asked me to carry on with what I said before trying to escape. Sighing, I complied
I figured that it could help her understand why I didn't want her to go, but also...I think I owed her an explanation for well, everything
I gathered my strength until finally, words started to come out
"The truth is that I...I fancy you, Penny. I've done it for quite a while now and not only am I doing this to dave Bea and the others who fell victim to this curse"
My eyes, while looking down at first, were now focused on her. I didn't care if she saw how bad I looked at the moment, I was talking straight out of my heart, throwing myself in the void and hoping for the best
"...I do it because I can't stand to see you so depressed, it breaks my heart"
"Y/N..." The sole mention of my name by her was almost enough for me to back off, almost
But she needed to know
"If I can't see you like this, imagine how I felt when everyone started leaning towards you to follow us into the vault. I can't bear the thought of something bad happening to you"
Before I knew it, Penny wrapped her arms around me, pulling me into a tight hug as she hid her forehead in my shoulders. At first, I couldn't believe it, I just stood there with her warmth and allowed that familiar feeling of security and care wash over me
A heavy, broken breath left my body, felt like a weight had been pulled off
At least until I heard her voice again, still buried in my shoulder
"...If I go to the Cursed Vault, would you be by my side?"
That question caught me off-guard, making me end the embrace to look at her. Although I think I heard her protest this
"Of course I would. I wouldn't leave you to yourself" I answered almost automatically
"Then I have nothing to fear"
The way she smiled after saying that, was disconcerting
"Penny..."
"I'm going to trust you with a secret of mine, one that I've never told anyone before"
She motioned me to come closer, which I did. It took her a bit to talk, seems as if this was a heavy subject for her as well
"It's bad enough to have my sister trapped in a portrait like that, it's horrible"
Penny was the one to sigh after that, her fists clenching as well before those blue orbs of her stared me down
"...But it's even worse to see the one I love risk their life for all of us every single year. I can only pray that you come back in one piece and so far you have"
The one she...what?...
Now I was speechless. Her cheeks turned a shade of pink when she noticed my reaction, but it didn't take long for a small smile to return to her
"This time, I want to help you the way you've helped us. It doesn't matter if it's an Ice knight, an Acromantula, or a bunch of Bogarts..."
Then, I felt something reaching out for my hand, it was hers
This gesture provoked our eyes to meet one last time
"As long as we are together. There is no such thing as an impossible challenge"
The determination in her, so familiar. Now I understood what Dumbledoremust've felt when I ignored his pleas for me to stop chasing the vaults
"And when we return from this, we'll talk. I promise"
What came after was still something that I'm struggling to process
Penny pulled me towards her a little and then closed the distance herself, leaning in towards me. I felt a pair of soft, tender lips kissing my cheek
"Thank you for opening up to me. I mean it"
There was no butterbeer or oversized sandwiches that could persuade the blonde to leave this mission, I understood that now. She would get to experience the end of this  curse herself
And as we stood along with Bill, Merula, Rakepick, and even Ben, I made my new mission to protect her from whatever lurked inside that vault
But as we approached the portkey and her hand wouldn't leave mine, I understood that even in the face of incredible danger...
...She too, would have my back

Sooo, another piece I made. I just finished year five and this one scene stuck with me
If you haven't finished that year, SPOILERS!!
If you'd like to see another angle, please let me know!

Penny Haywood x MC- The way I see you
Game: Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery
A/N: This takes place in a universe where Bea didn't get snatched by the portrait curse and had a normal year
_____________________________
A pair of beautiful blue eyes slowly opened and blinked a couple of times to adjust to the light of a new day
These were the eyes of someone who had just woken up in a mess of blonde hair and still managed to look so cute despite not being properly dressed
Making her way through the sheets, the young Hufflepuff sat on her bed, yawning and stretching when her mind brought her the sudden reminder
This was the day she was craving for
A big smile appeared on her face the minute this realization hit her
You see, this day marked the second year of Penny Haywood's formal relationship with Y/N L/N
Well, as formal as a relationship in Hogwarts can be
And speaking of, there was an object in her nightstand, something that's not supposed to be there normally
The blonde looked at the novelty in her piece and discovered a cupcake made of her favorite flavor with a small note attached to it
"To start your day the way you like it"
In order to contain her excitement, Penny grabbed her pillow and muffled her happy screams in it. Thankfully, not many were around to hear it anyway
She knew exactly who had left this gift. This day was already proving to be brilliant
Without further due, she changed into her robes and did her hair, taking less than a minute to do her iconic braids. So many times she had done them, it just came to her naturally
And so, she walked off to the common room, where she saw the house ghost looking at the plants
"Good morning, Friar"
The ghost turned around to look at her, a smile immediately appearing
"Good morning, miss Haywood. I trust you had a good sleep?"
She nodded eagerly, that's when the friar noticed the pastry in her hands
"Is that from who I think it is?"
She raised the object so her friend could get a better look at the freshly baked object
"It is! Today's the day"
A joyful laugh came from the Friar upon hearing the news
"Then allow me to congratulate you on your second year together! You two are the purest couple I've seen in decades"
Haywood found herself flattered by this comment. However, it wasn't the only one of its kind
Practically all of Hogwarts cheered on the two of them, some going as far as to call them the "power couple" of Hogwarts. It was funny how easy they warmed up to Y/N after being saved a couple of times
Some others were insistent that they could be a better suitor for Penny, or that hanging out with curse breaker would only result in tragedy. While things did get interesting, every situation could be handled by their combined effort
With the help of their friends too, of course
"Well, if you want to know where your lover is, try looking at the courtyard"
"Will do, thanks, friar!"
With that, she left the common room and headed straight to the place suggested to her
Penny was excited, not only because this date meant a lot to her, but her curiosity was piqued. Her relationship with Y/N was unique, and as some sort of tradition, one of the two would give a present to the other
The first year was an enchanted bracelet that Penny gifted Y/N that would bond them even at the distance. This year, however, the curse breaker insisted on being the one that gave her something, and judging by the way they talked about it, it would be incredible
Walking down one of the halls, the young Haywood was met by her sister, Bea
"I see you finally woke up! Thought I'd have to call Tonks to set up a prank on you"
"Good morning to you too, Bea"
They shared a laugh as they kept walking. Bea had just started her year at the school but she was adapting surprisingly well
While the Haywoods made their way to the courtyard, memories began to flood Penny's sweet mind
Memories of the night it all began, the Celestial Ball. Y/N agreed on setting up the dance and chose Penny to be their date for it
Little did she know, they had a surprise for her at the event. Gifting her a necklace, the star of Hogwarts asked her to be their partner in front of the people at the party
She almost teared up at the question, but it was a yes ultimately. Everyone cheered at this and the dance that followed was just as breathtaking
The sound of music and chatter brought Penny back to reality, seeing as they had reached their destination. However, her eyes sparkled when she found a certain someone not far away from her
"There you are!"
When they heard her voice, they welcomed her with open eyes
"Goldie! Good to see you!"
She ran towards her lover, who caught her in a hug and even spun them around in a playful manner
All the while, the other person that was with Y/N used a spell to conceal something. Bea saw what it was, but agreed to "look away"
"Tou liked the cupcake?"
"I loved it! Thank you so much"
She gave them a tender kiss on the cheek before breaking the hug to see what was Y/N doing in the courtyard. That's when she spotted an unusual figure there as well
"Badeea? Good to see you" she received a gentle smile from her
"Likewise, Penny, and congratulations"
She smiled and then gave her lover a curious look
"What are you doing here?"
"We're... "
They stopped to look at Badeea in hopes of getting some help, but she just shrugged
"...Working on something important. It's for later!"
"Can I see?"
Without losing their smile, Y/N shook their head
"I said it's for later, Penny. You'll have to wait"
A saddened Penny tried her best to bribe Y/N into confessing by making puppy eyes. It almost worked, if not for another voice to join the scene
One could argue that the whole scene was saved by...Tonks
"Finally, we were looking for you!"
The voice came from the pink-haired girl, who was accompanied by Tulip, both glad to see their blonde friend
This sudden change made Penny drop her act to welcome heir friends
"Girls? What can I help you with?"
"We need your help to choose some ingredients!
"Ingredients for what?"
"For a prank, of course!" Tulip chimes in
"Did we mention there is a discount on potion-making equipment?"
Upon hearing Tonks's words, Penny's eyes went bright like a kid in a candy shop
However, as good as this offer was, the memory of her agenda came back to haunt her
"It's tempting..."
Then, she looked back at her lover with a saddened smile
"But I wanted to spend the day with Y/N"
While the curse breaker was touched by this heartwarming statement, they smiled tenderly at her while putting a hand on her shoulder
"Oh Penny, don't worry, I'll be waiting for you!"
"Are you sure?"
She got a nod from them
"Just promise to have fun"
Penny was surprised by their attitude, but she appreciated that she wouldn't have to choose, so she approached them and gave them a quick peck on the lips
"You're the best"
With that, she walked out of the courtyard along with Tonks, Beatrice, and Tulip. All while Y/N waved them goodbye
Once they were out of sight, however, the kind smile turned into a sigh as they turned back and made the object reappear
"What do you think? Is it ready?" He asked Badeea
She approached it and inspected closely, with her hand on her chin
"I think it's almost done! Just cast the spell and then we wait for it to take effect"
They nodded and with their hand at the ready
"Capillum fluit"
Then, something started to move within the object, a graceful wave that was almost hypnotic
" It's beautiful, brilliant job, Y/N!" Badeea clapped
"Thank you!"
Y/N took one last look at this, their proudest achievement yet, aside from solving the vaults
"I just hope she likes it just as much"
...
Meanwhile, at Hogsmeade, Penny walked in the company of her sister, Tulip, and Tonks, the latter being the guide
"So, what prank are you going to pull?"
Penny asked deciding to break the ice. This question made Tulip and Tonks look at each other before nodding
"That may or may not be a lie, Penny" The redhead started
"We do need your help, but it's something much more akin to your expertise as a potion-maker!" Tonks added
They stopped to give Penny a small piece of paper containing a colorful add
"See, we heard that Honeydukes having a competition"
"It's to encourage students, but the reward sure is something!"
"What is it?" Bea inquired
"Six months' worth of chocolate frogs!"
There were gasps after hearing that. Those were some of the best treats Honeydukes had to offer! There would be more than enough to share with their friends
Penny looked away from the piece of paper and now focused on Tonks, with that determined look on her face
"And what do we have to do?"
Hearing this earned a smile from the girls, Bea even cheered a bit to see her big sister on board for this
"The team that creates the potion that smells the sweetest wins!"
"That's where you come in, you get to be our brilliant leader!"
"I don't know Tulip, I-"
"Too late! We've arrived!"
The sound of a nearby crowd ended the conversation. Those must be the other participants
Penny froze for a second, looking at all those people competing to get the same reward. She had won intern tournaments, but this was something else entirely
Then, she felt her robes being tugged, the cause being her younger sister
"Come on, it will be fun! Plus I want to see you in action"
"I...I don't know if I can do this"
" You're Penny Haywood! You knew most potions before they even taught them!
"Girl, you know how to do most of them on your sleep!"
"See? You got this, sister!"
The way the girls talked about her made Penny's cheeks turn red. Of course, she had received compliments before, but they just sounded so confident in this, even made it sound like it would be a walk in the park for her
It was true that she was one of the most proficient at school. Perhaps it would translate well into this competition?
Who knows, but it was an idea worth entertaining
"... alright, let's do this"
The girls cheered in unison before taking Penny to them to register their team for the upcoming challenge
Tonks got them a place in the contest, the last one available. While still unsure of this decision as the teams were announced, the blonde saw the look other people were giving her
Some seemed to recognize and were in awe, some others saw her as a rival to be dealt with. It was just like Hogwarts
So she would handle it as such
As soon as the competition started, Penny started barking orders to her teammates, making sure they understood what they were doing and most importantly, cheering on them
And so It begun, Tonks gathered the ingredients while trying her best not to drop any of them on accident
Tulip kept assisting Penny in the process of making the bomb. It was new for her, making something that wasn't intended to smell putrid
Bea followed in her sister's footsteps and acted as some sort of cheerleader while also assisting where needed...also keeping Tonks away from fragile things
While listening to what she was saying and how she was encouraging her teammates to do their best, one could see the indirect influence of a certain curse breaker
They were, after all, the most convincing person at Hogwarts. Who else could convince a student to fight a bloody troll?
After thirty minutes, the alarm sounded, echoing through the establishment and forced everyone to stop what they were doing, but it also gave everyone a chance to catch their breath after such an exhausting experience
The judge approached every team and smelled every potion until he reached the girls' stand and took their potion. His expression changed for the better when he smelled it, he raised the vial and proudly proclaimed
"Everyone, I think we have a winner!"
They gasped when they heard that, they couldn't believe that their team effort had taken them that far. Claps from the other competitors and the crowds of spectators came their way
"We...we won..."
Penny stood breathless, adjusting to the news when she was suddenly hugged by Bea, then Tonks and sure enough, Tulip
"All thanks to our brilliant leader!" Stated her sister
"Thank you so much for your help, Penny!" Added the metamorhmagus
"Bringing you here was the best decision by far!" Tulip admitted as well
They hugged her as if they were a Quidditch team embracing their most important player after winning the finals. To think that it wouldn't have been like that if she hadn't chosen to tag along in the cursed vaults
Penny knew she was lucky to have so many true friends, and she hugged them back like so
After having their photograph taken, the announcer approached them and gave them a certificate that would serve as a trophy for them, but also ensure that they would get their prize.
Shortly after, they celebrated their victory at the Three Broomsticks, the first round being courtesy of Madam Rosmerta
It had been so much fun, it was so easy to forget that the group had spent two and a half hours away from Hogwarts
Tonks suggested going back to Hogwarts to make sure nothing would happen to the certificate, but that Penny would keep it since she had led the team to a smashing victory
And so, they boarded the train back to their welcoming school, chatting as they traveled
When they entered the main hall, however, the atmosphere drastically changed
"This way, hurry!"
Badeea's shaky voice echoed through the hall, catching the girls by surprise
Then, the artist herself came rushing at them with a worried look to her, and behind her, was Y/N being practically dragged by her
They rushed past the group, without even stopping to talk, but straight out the doors and out of Hogwarts, leaving the four students beyond astonished
Penny wasn't surprised to see that, Y/N would get into an adventure without even looking for one
What surprised her was the fact that they were holding hands
It wasn't that big of a deal
Right?
It was just Y/N hanging out with Badeea and solving something
Like the past three months that they've spent together working on something that she couldn't see
Again
"That was... unexpected" Tonks was the first one to break the silence
"Should we follow them?" Bea asked, preparing herself for another adventure
Tulip shook her head in disagreement
"I didn't even see where they went"
But then, they noticed the silent blonde, who stared at the door longingly
"Penny, are you alright?"
"I...I don't know. I was expecting Y/N to at least say hi."
The pink-haired girl then wrapped her arm around her
"You know how it is with Y/N, sometimes they have to go and save everyone with just seconds of anticipation"
"You're right..." A sigh followed this reply
"Don't be sad, sis, I'm sure Y/N will have something for you!"
"And we'll stand by you until they come back"
Tulip stood proudly in front of her, making the others nod in agreement. Penny couldn't help but smile at this display
"Thank you, girls"
And so they sat at the staircase, already chatting to find a way to keep themselves entertained in the meantime
It wouldn't be long before Y/N returned, right?
...wrong
Four hours later
Tonks had fallen asleep, Tulip was casting sparks of the top of her wand to keep herself entertained and Hagrid had asked Bea for her help with some Puffskeins
"Yeah, until they come back..." Penny whispered
Her voice made Tulip sit up, finally listening to something after so much silence. Wonder where everyone was at this time
"You know Tulip, you can go now if you wish, I don't want to keep you waiting here all night with me."
"Are you sure? It's not a problem"
She got a nod from the saddened blonde
"Yes, don't worry about--"
That's when the doors were heard again and this time, it was loud enough to wake Tonks up and make the rest of them stand up and at this person
It was Y/N, with their clothes dirty and tattered, scratches all over them, and even some small cuts
Penny hated a few things. Being late to a class, werewolves, and above all, seeing Y/N like that
"Hello, girls" Y/N smiled with whatever energy they had left
"What happened to you?" Tulip asked directly
"I... It's a long story. Do you mind if I steal Penny?"
This caught the Hufflepuff by surprise. Now they wanted to see her?
Their friends gave her a thumbs up and sighing, Penny looked back at Y/N
"Yes?"
"I need to show you something"
Y/N took their hand and tried to move but was stopped by Penny herself
"No, you need to tell me what happened with Badeea and to you"
"I will, but in private. Please"
They locked eyes for a moment, her stern gaze couldn't hold against Y/N's subtly pleading eyes and that simile, that smile she couldn't deny
"...fine"
So she allowed herself to be taken away by Y/N. She was a bit mad because Badeea took them away, and by the hand nonetheless
It didn't help that they frequented each other quite a lot recently
But also because they were away for so long. Penny at least remembered she had something special today
But her thoughts were met with a heartwarming reveal. It was Y/N's bracelet, the one gift she had given him
As they were holding hands, she could get a clear view of it. Despite Y/N's roughed look, this accessory still looked as good
It was as if it had been enchanted with a protective spell every day
This didn't align with her theories, why would Y/N keep it and take care of it so dearly if they were with the other girl so much
The doors of the secret room took Penny out of her thoughts and by the time she knew it, she was in that special room that Y/N's brother used as a headquarter before disappearing
Y/N themselves would use it whenever they needed to review something in private
However, they had changed quite a few things. They organized the notes that were just scattered all over the floor and even managed to sneak in a bed for those times that they were too tired to reach the common room
Once they were in the area, Y/N let go of her hand to stand in front of Penny, scratching the back of their neck
"First, I'm incredibly sorry I arrived so late here"
"I'm sure there is quite a story behind that" The blonde answered with her arms crossed
"There is, but first, I want to show you this"
Y/N took a couple of steps back and turned towards something covered in a gray cloth
"I've done a few brilliant things in my time here, but this one is my favorite one by far"
They grabbed the cloth and removed it to reveal a portrait of Penny herself, enchanted so that her beautiful blonde hair would continuously flow as if blessed by a gentle breeze
Her blue eyes sparkled with hope and her tender smile was enough to turn any bad day into a good one
Penny's eyes went wide and she covered her mouth when she saw this painting in front of her. She tried to study every detail of this sparkling portrait but found herself too distracted by the fact that she was looking at a depiction of herself
"You...you made this?"
She asked almost breathless. Y/N was eager to hear her voice again
"Yes, and that's when the story chimes in."
Penny moved her gaze slightly so that she was now looking at the curse breaker, without losing her shocked expression
"You see, Badeea offered to tutor me in this painting when I told her that I wanted to give you something big, that's why we spent so much time together, we even invented a spell for this specific portrait"
Then, Y/N sighed, recalling the next part of the story
"But then Peeves stole it and we ended up going to the Forbidden Forest to get it. I had to duel an Acromantula to get it and--"
Y/N found themselves unable to finish their story due to Penny's soft lips crashing into them, she even brought their head closer with her hands
Of course, they returned the kiss as soon as they were able to process what was going on
"You went through all of that trouble, just for me"
Penny thought out loud, in awe of what she had just heard. This boosted Y/N's confidence, and they moved her hair to the side while looking at her in the eye
"I...I wanted you to see yourself the way I do"
This time it was Y/N who leaned in for a kiss, getting a taste of her warm lips that just craved theirs
"Although I'm sad that it took all day to show you. There was so much I wanted to do"
The curse breaker admitted with a hint of shame, making Penny giggle. It was astounding how they could be incredibly confident to steal a kiss and then be as cute as a child just seconds later
Then Penny looked at the bed beside them, an idea immediately came to mind
"Well, we can always cuddle"
And cuddle they did. It was a good thing that they didn't have classes the next day, so they could spend a bit more time in each other's warm company
Penny Haywood had it all, beauty, intelligence, unrivaled charm, and yet, she couldn't help but feel like she was the lucky one
And as she snuggled against her lover's chest, she allowed herself to rest, knowing that even if she might fear from time to time that someone could take Y/N away from her...
...They would always find a way back, always

Merula Snyde x MC- Back off, Parkin!
Game: Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery
____________________
Y/N L/N was a busy person, that was no secret. Whether it was being a student, investigating the cursed vaults, or even helping their friends in some wacky adventure, they always had something to do
Ironically, it wasn't often that Y/N got to chose what they wanted to do, so when they entered their house's Quidditch team, it was a welcome change to the formula
Somehow, they had managed to squeeze this new activity into the schedule. Nobody seemed to mind
Nobody but one person: Y/N's first enemy  and the self-proclaimed greatest witch in Hogwarts
Merula Snyde started as an antagonist to Y/N, but as years went by, their dynamic went beyond that. They made a great team and actually had fun together and actively searched for each other's company
Some would even say that they had grown a bit too close
But then again, they were just rumors
Merula wandered out of the potions class, looking at a paper with the topics that were most likely to be in the next exam
It sounded tedious, but she was already planning on a way to make it fun. That plan required the assistance of a certain someone
Walking up the stairs, determined to find that person in the Great Hall considering it was the time most students used to eat something
When she got there, she was greeted by a crowd. An annoyed sigh left her lips as she entered
Like a hawk looking for its prey, Snyde looked at every face to see if it was the one she was looking for, but she was already halfway through the hall and no luck so far
When her main plan was failing, she resorted to the plan she liked the least, talking to other students for help
"Oi, Khanna!"
Her distinct yelling caught the attention of a certain bookworm. Rowan turned around to see Merula motioning them to come to her and reluctantly, they did
"What do you need, Merula?"
"Where is L/N? It's lunchtime"
Rowan adjusted their glasses before answering
"Oh, they're tutoring Skye Parkin"
This caught the witch by surprise, Y/N was not known for tutoring others outside of class
"Tutoring?"
"It's an agreement that they have"
Merula didn't quite know what to say to that. This sudden revelation threw her own plan out the window
Her previous hint of a smile haded at the same time, now replaced by a disconcerted look
Rowan then spotted the sheet of paper in her hand, their questions forcing Merula out of her trance
"Are those potion class notes? Do you want me to help you with that?"
Her purple eyes looked at the aspiring professor, not knowing what they were talking about until she remembered the object in her hand
She looked at it before giving a delayed answer
"...no, but... I appreciate it"
Without saying anything else, she abandoned the conversation. She didn't even feel like calling them names
Merula could use a hand with those topics, but Rowan Khanna was not who she wanted to help her
Not Rowan, not Penny, and surely not Barnaby. It might be selfish, but it was what she wanted
So Merula chose to hang out at the library by herself, it wouldn't be so bad, right?
The silence, the same material, again and again, the friends studying together...it was exhausting, even more, if done on your own
Going over her notes and trying her best not to fall asleep ironically, made the young witch fall asleep on one of the desks after the third hour
Needless to say, Madam Pince didn't take this kindly
After hours of studying and being kicked out of the library, Merula decided to call it a day and head back to her common room
Along the way, she walked down a hall that gave her a view of the training grounds. Nothing she hadn't seen a million times before
Except that this time, it featured Y/N L/N themselves flying on a broom
Seeing this familiar face hovering around immediately restored the energy she had lost in the library
She was about to run to them and call their name when suddenly, another broom emerged, this one under the control of the Quidditch rising star, Skye Parkin
Both of them were practicing under the supervision of Madam Hooch, laughing and making jokes while getting to try some maneuvers for Y/N to try in the next friendly
This sudden interruption stopped Merula in her tracks, yet her eyes didn't look away
Watching them fly around reminded Merula of the times she challenged her "rival" to a race and those times that she almost won
It was fun, but it felt like a million years had passed since then
Y/N was clearly busy and for better or for worse, having fun. Merula wanted to see Y/N and get their help, but now that she saw them having a good time..she wasn't so sure of her plan
Maybe... tomorrow?
Yes, perhaps the next day would prove better for her
...
It didn't prove better
Professor Snape divided the class into groups for the day so he could better focus on their potion-making to prepare them for their O.W.L.s
Merula's group was scheduled right after Y/N's
Of course it did
Fortunately, it didn't take as long. Merula was proficient in potions, so it wasn't much of a challenge
"Your potion is adequate, you can leave now, Snyde"
Snape told the girl, noticing her being somewhat absent. Under normal circumstances, he might ask what is wrong, but he had no time for it
Merula nodded and left the classroom without saying much. Once she did, she was met with a small crowd of students in the hall
Among them were Barnaby and Rowan. Merula thought she could ask again for Y/N's whereabouts but when the student saw her, they shook their head with a worried expression
A heavy sigh came from her accompanied by burrowed brows. This was getting exasperating
However, her stomach grumbled, there was another issue that required her attention
And this one, she could deal with much faster
The Great Hall was where the young lady decided to go next to satisfy her hunger. Fortunately, there weren't as many students
This proved to be both a good thing and a bad thing since the absence of many students only highlighted a certain girl with blue and black hair
At first, Merula didn't notice her until she got her food and when she did she nearly dropped it
In front of her was the sole responsible for her lack of quality time with Y/N. Sky Parkin was eating a sandwich without a care in the world
The greatest witch in Hogwarts felt the anger building up inside her the longer she looked at this girl
Considering that Skye isn't often in the Great Hall, it felt almost like a message to see her there, even if she wasn't even aware of Merula's presence
Without thinking it twice, she approached Miss Parkin, almost stomping her way to her
"Hey, Parkin!" A yell caught her attention
Skye, while still munching on her giant sandwich now looked at Merula with a questioning look
"Hmm?" Was all she could say, she was eating after all
But as soon as she got her attention, the anger in Merula was replaced by the sudden realization that she didn't even know what she was going to say
"I... What are you doing here?"
"Umm... eating?" She answered motioning at her food
It wasn't the best way to approach it, but Merula chose to continue. She had her attention now anyway
"I mean what are you doing outside of practice. I thought you and L/N practiced every day"
"We don't. Y/N is a busy person, but I also take breaks from time to time, you know?"
She dared say that Y/N was busy? She was taking them all to herself!
One of her eyes twitched in repressed anger, earning Skye's curiosity
She knew that Merula was a bit strange, but there eas something else happening there
"You alright? Or maybe you're looking for Y/N?"
This gained her attention immediately, she even put her hands on the table when looking at Skye
"Do you know where they are?"
"I thought they'd be hanging out with you"
Merula stepped away in defeat when she heard that, at least yesterday she knew where Y/N was, now not even Skye knew
"We can't since they spend all day with you"
Skye might not be the greatest when it comes to charms, but she was not stupid and was able to deduce what was going on with her as soon as she let out that careless line
With a mischievous smirk, the rising star of Quidditch decided to defeat Merula at her own game
"Well, they are handsome"
This odd dialogue made the witch look back at her
"What did you say?"
"And smart, they are a good tutor"
Hearing this coming from the person that took Y/N away from her only helped to piss Merula even further
"Shut up"
"And kind, so open to help, they're quite a catch"
Of course, Merula's name had been dropped by Y/N a couple of times when they practiced with Skye, so she had an idea of what their relationship was
But Merula being, well, her, wouldn't even entertain the idea just like that, so she had to be tricked
And tricked she was
When she heard all these compliments coming from Skye, she practically grabbed her by her shirt and looked her in the eye
"Back off, Parkin! Y/N is mine, alright!?"
She stopped when she realized what she had said, a hint of pink taking over her cheeks while Skye just looked at her, incredibly amused by this
The Great Hall wasn't as populated, so not many people noticed the scene, but that's when the young witch realized that she had just fallen into a trap to confess her own affection
So she let go of Skye but gave her the coldest of glares
"I hate you so much, Parkin"
She stormed out of the place without another word said, leaving behind a very satisfied Skye Parkin
She wouldn't understand what Y/N saw in her, but she felt glad that the feeling was mutual...in Merula's strange way
A couple of steps out of the Great Hall and the young slytherin's ears picked up on a familiar voice, Y/N's
She turned sharply to the left and sure enough, she found a tired curse breaker talking to a student just a couple of steps away
When they spotted the girl, Y/N smiled and waved at her. Normally, this would be enough to melt her heart even if she didn't want to admit it
But this time, it only made her stomp her way towards Y/N and grab them without even looking at them, she just dragged them away from their conversation like a grounded child
"H-Hey, what's wrong?"
Y/N asked as they were being dragged away. Looking, back they say Merula just walk mindlessly and silently
"Merula? Are you alright?"
Again, no answer
That's when Y/N decided to use their own strength and free themselves from her grip with little to no effort
"Merula! What's gotten into you?"
This snap made her look back at the student with a much softer gaze this time. It looked as if she was just dragging them away with no clear intension
"Huh? Oh, hey Y/N"
"Care to explain why did you drag me for like twenty seconds without saying anything?"
Y/N crossed their arms. They weren't angry, but they needed an answer
Upon realizing what she had just done, Merula found her cheeks turning pink again
"I ummm...I heard that you'll have another friendly tomorrow, just wanted to wish you luck"
This lie, while well-formulated, was hardly any real motive for an action like that
"Thanks...but that's now why you're here, is it?"
The slytherin sighed, knowing well that her lie wouldn't get past them
"I hate that you're so perceptive..." She mumbled to herself
Then, she found the courage to look at them, at least for a couple of seconds
"Look, I'm glad you found something to make you happy and relatively safe but...no, forget it"
She was struggling to keep herself together, no wonder her words made such contrast
"It's... ridiculous" she finally admitted
That's when she was startled by a hand on her shoulder, making Y/N get her attention
"There's no such thing as ridiculous in Hogwarts, Merula"
She gave him an unamused look, making the curse breaker chuckle at their own joke
"But seriously, I won't laugh"
Their soft gaze combined with the intrigue and care got the best of the girl, who let out one final sigh
"Fine..."
Purple eyes met e/c when she continued to talk, a more calm look to her as well. There was no turning back now
"Don't you think you're spending a bit too much time with Skye? I know she's your teammate, but still..."
The way she lost her strength at the end of that sentence helped Y/N get a much clearer picture. Of course, Merula's words were important, but it was her body language the one that truly spoke
"Look, Skye is awesome and talented when it comes to Quidditch"
That wasn't the best way to answer, she found her eyebrows furrowing at this
"...But she isn't who I'd take to  a cursed vault, or a death-defying adventure"
Merula was surprised by a sneaky hand getting a hold of hers and quickly intertwining their fingers with hers
"And of course, she isn't who I chose to take on a date, isn't she?"
The slytherin was shocked by the calm way Y/N said it to her. There was no hint of doubt, lying, or even jealousy to them
They were clearly confident in every word they said
"You have nothing to worry about, Merula, nobody's going to take me away from you"
A quick kiss on the forehead followed that statement. This was enough to send her over the edge
Merula was receiving too much affection and didn't know how to respond. There wasn't any manual to it!
"What do you say tomorrow we do whatever you want? I think I owe it to you"
Y/N asked with that gentle smile of theirs and that tender gaze
Merula could hardly believe it. She had spent the last two days searching for Y/N and when they found her instead, they came off as incredibly kind and loving
It...it made it worth it
And honestly, it was something that she couldn't wait to see more of
"Yes, I think you owe it to me"
