⚡️Happy Birthday to photographer extraordinaire Dominique Tarlé who took some of the of the most famous photographs in music history, including this one during the legendary Rolling Stones Exile on Main St. recordings in the South of France in 1971. 🇫🇷 You can see Dominique reflected in the mirror in this amazing shot.. 😉 Joyeux anniversaire Dominique! 🎉 @tarledominique Keith Richards reclines on the parquet floor of the luxurious Villa Nellcôte in the South of France during the legendary Exile on Main St. recordings. ✨ Seated with what appears to be his legendary 1953 Fender Telecaster - nicknamed "Micawber" - in his lap, Keith is surrounded by Anita Pallenberg, looking as stylish as ever with her legs slung over an armchair, Gram Parsons, and Parsons' girlfriend at the time, Gretchen Burrell. The guitar was supposedly gifted to him on his 27th birthday about 6 months earlier by Eric Clapton, and it remains one of his very favorite instruments to this day. ❤️ This image is the most iconic and sought-after photograph from that legedary Summer of 1971. The first is in his tour bus back in 2005 - here’s the story “Willie’s tour bus is his home, more so than any artist I’ve photographed. I was doing a video for ‘You Don’t Know Me,’ and he wanted a break to fix his braids. Here's the story: "Shot at Kings Cross Cinema, London July 15th 1972. The session includes the iconic 'Raw Power' cover shot. It was only a 40 minute set, but it became legendary. Not a music related post.. but an important one for Australian Art History.. as Australia looses a legend of the art world 💔 Vale John Olsen 1928-2023 ✨ “Painting is a means of self-enlightenment…” 💫 Farewell Mr Olsen.. thank you for your dedication to the arts in this country and for the inspiration and enlightenment.. 💫 Pictured is one of our favourite pieces that hangs in the collection of the @artgalleryofnsw in Sydney: Five Bells, 1963 by John Olsen 💙 'Five bells was my first commission to paint in situ to cover a wall … I didn’t hesitate. I brushed a line around the core theme, the seed-burst, the life-burst, the sea-harbour, the source of life. Inside and around this core, I painted images drawn from metaphors and similes in [Kenneth] Slessor’s poem of our harbour city, and from my own emotional and physical involvement with the harbour, and with my young family in Watsons Bay … 'I wanted to show the Harbour as a movement, a sea suck, and the sound of the water as though I am part of the sea ... 🔥"You need coolin', baby I'm not foolin'" 🔥 On February 27th 1972 - 51 years ago today, Led Zeppelin toured Australia for the first and only time! Photographer Philip Morris was there, at Sydney Showground, with his Go-Set press pass, to capture this moment in rock history... Wish we could’ve been there… oh to turn back time! 🙌🎸⚡️ Here’s what The Sun-Hearld Press Report had to say about the day.. "The Led Zeppelin concert at the showgrounds last Sunday must rate as one of the best ever held in Sydney - but, if the crowd had not stormed the fences, it could have been the worst. The official attendence figure was 27,000 but senior police officers at the concert estimated the crowd at "at least 30,000". According to showground officials the three stands used last Sunday have a maximum capacity of 25,000 - so whatever way you look at it the ground was dangerously overcrowded. Despite the fact that there were no seats left at mid-day and no standing room by 1.30pm., people were still coming through the gates at 2.30pm. The overcrowding that existed before the fences were stormed must never be allowed to occur again because next time someone could be killed in the crush.
