I just wanna add that I wish that when they toasted they would've toasted to family, old en new and we'd have a little recap of everyone who used to be part of the family. Cage, Jill, Leanna, Jack and James and maybe even the other small characters that were on the good side like Valerie(1x10), Kamekona, Kono and Chin(1x18) and Zoe (2x10)

MacGyver Season 5 Finale Review + What I would have liked to see.

I kinda liked the horror of the nanobots? Seeing Mac and Riley blank faced fighting was Something Else. And I like how Riley brought up the fact that everyone else saying "Its gonna be okay" was essentially platitudes? Like no offense to Bozer, Desi, Russ and Matty (who are all very talented and extremely well connected) but Mac and Riley are literally the Best in their specialized fields and hella competent everywhere else. They're beyond dangerous and if they went darkside via. mind control (especially together) it would be pretty damn hard to get them back under control. Not impossible, but almost.

I love the Mac and Bozer friendship in this episode. The pajamas, Bozer saying "I love you" to Mac (or was it Mac saying that to Bozer?) Either way its clear they love each other and aren't afraid to show it. Its really nice seeing that again.

I love the Jack references. Mac and Riley curling up on the couch Jack style to watch Die Hard as a clear comfort movie? Asksjaksjsk I love it. I miss him.

I love the call back to Mac's secret escape exit. While the dumbass still doesn't have decent security, he at least has this (and what looks a lot like a panic room?) which is amazing.

Possibly a unpopular opinion (I haven't checked to see what y'all thought as yet) but I like the fact that Mac quit. He's suffered too much and lost to much for a government that literally gives 0 shits about him. And the thing is, Mac is close enough with everyone so even if he does quit, as long as he doesn't move to another country you know they're still gonna stay in touch.

Mac already tried to get out of the spy business a few seasons ago but Murdoc dragged him back in. Murdoc's finally in jail for good(?) and now Mac should rest. Mac is an exceptionally good person, and his talents are strong enough that there's multiple paths he can take to benefit mankind; such as the stuff he was doing at MIT before becoming an IED tech and researching the cure for cancer with the snake venom. So yea, storyline wise I want him to quit.

I thought it was also amazing & heartfelt that as soon as Mac announced that he was quitting Bozer, Riley and Desi immediately quit too? Like thats the equivalent of them saying "yep, at least 50% of the reason why we're here in this job is to work with you," and considering the fact that the team is a family (thank you Riley for saying that out loud, I love you) this is so sweet??

I wish they ended it there and then we saw a 5min clip 5 or 10 years in the future where:

Mac has been going to therapy every week for 5-10 years and his mental health is stable & good. He's well on his way toward a breakthrough on how to cure cancer or stopping world hunger or getting clean water to 3rd and 4th world countries.

Bozer got to star/direct his film, it aired in theaters, was super popular and he's reaping the benefits (with his family supporting him). He's finally got his dream job.

Riley has her army of white hat hackers, and maybe even her own top of the line cyber security company? She's well known, complete badass in the industry.

Desi either joined a different government branch, still works with Matty & Russ, or has her own private security company? Either was she's still (happily) kicking ass. After going to therapy with Mac, they realized how their previous relationship was a bit toxic (Desi realizes her whole 'how about we pretend it never happened' thing was never okay with Mac) and after some healthy space, they decide to be friends. On another note, Desi finally gets her French(?) girlfriend and spanish(?) boyfriend, and they have a healthy relationship.

Russ and Matty are still at Phoenix (possibly with Desi) and although they have their hands full with missions, they always take a weekend off to visit the team at Mac's place. It's a regular event: the last weekend of every month they get together around Mac's campfire, catch up on each other's lives and reminisce about the good moments in their time together.

A few years after leaving Mac and Riley possibly get together? Like after a lot of therapy, and after they make peace with all their past trauma. If they get together, its not because of shared understanding while they're both in a world of pain its because while they're happy and healthy as friends they're even better together romantically.

OR If they don't get back together, Riley and Bozer move back into Mac's place and it's the quarantine episode except for life. Despite being highly successful in their busy lives, they always have enough time to share at least one meal together, and they have regular movie nights weekly. Every 6 months Bozer pulls out a new set of matching PJs each more ridiculous than the last, to Mac and Riley's horror. They've tried searching to see where Bozer is ordering these (or where he's getting the material to make them) but they come up with nothing to Bozer's delight.

Okay guys today is the series finale of Macgyver (it's Friday April 30th) and it's gonna be a ride. Even though I cannot watch the episode yet for another long time because it's gotta be on TV here for me to be able to watch it *insert a string of curses*.

I've been crying over every picture I've seen the past week, I think that says enough.
