Internally sobbing because I've been drawing my fursona and I've been struggling with drawing its tie and then I remember that I have a perfectly good reference in my wardrobe. Why didn't I remember I still had my old school's tie earlier ;-;.

Y'know what I should probably do a brief intro post for this blog

Hi, I'm Fish/Storm and I use they/it pronouns. My main is @fishsfailureson. This blog's sole purpose is to reblog a bunch of art (although I might reblog other things to here by accident). On occasion I'll reblog my own art.

I use the queue feature to space out reblogs, and I will regularly re-queue things. I also shuffle my queue a lot so posts may come out only a few days after I initially queued them or a whole month afterwards.

The Iranian Regime is going to execute rapper Toomaj Salehi for supporting protests of Jina Amini’s murder by the regime in his songs.

Iranian activist Elica Le Bon says, “Iranians in the diaspora picked up on the fact that the regime tends not to execute people who become known to the international community. We have seen many examples of prisoners that were either released on bail or had their sentences commuted through our “say their names to save their lives” campaign on social media, using hashtags to garner attention for their causes, and even before social media existed, through getting the stories of political prisoners to international media outlets. Once reported on, and once the eyes shift to the regime and the reality of its pending brutality, realizing that the action is not worth the repercussions, we have seen them back down and not execute. For that reason, this is part of an urgent campaign for readers to talk about Toomaj as much as you can, using the hashtag #FreeToomaj or #ToomajSalehi. Every comment makes a difference, and if we were wrong, what did we lose by trying?”

I see you like worldbuilding so I wonder, what changes would you make to earth to make it your personal idea of an ideal world? (Or as close to ideal as we can get)

And/or (a more lighthearted one)

What makes a fantasy world well constructed?

Question 1: That's a pretty difficult question to answer. I don't think I'd change anything about earth itself to be honest- although I do wish that there was less bigotry and cruelty on this planet.

Question 2: The creator knowing what they are doing. This means careful researching things and actually applying that knowledge to your world. You can break away from the rules of real life as much as you want, but if you don't have an explanation for why things work like that it just falls flat imo. You also have to be consistent with the rules of your fictional world. You don't even have to share all the rules of your world, you just have to know them.

Dornraptor normani Baron, 2024 (new genus and species)

Meaning of name: Dornraptor = Dornwaraceaster [Anglo-Saxon name for the region roughly corresponding to what is now Dorset] thief [in Latin]; normani = for David B. Norman [British paleontologist]

Age: Early Jurassic (Hettangian–Sinemurian)

Where found: Blue Lias Formation, Dorset, UK

How much is known: A partial hindlimb and a partial femur (thigh bone).

Notes: Fossils of Dornraptor were originally identified in 1859 as specimens of the armored plant-eating dinosaur Scelidosaurus. Later authors thought that they more likely belonged to theropods, but left them unnamed. A new study of these specimens considers them distinct enough to be given a new genus and species. Based on phylogenetic analyses, Dornraptor was probably an early member of Averostra, the group of theropods that unites ceratosaurs and the stiff-tailed tetanurans.

Listening to music while drawing is so funny to me sometimes because sometimes you're listening to a very intense song (from a musical adaptation of the odyssey) about a bunch of people fucking dying while staring at this

Also sometimes you're listening to incredibly soft love songs while drawing a dinosaur ripping some mammal's head off
