Hi Anon! Thanks for your question. A few contributors were removed/dropped out from the project mainly because they had other commitments to manage, and we hope that they are well!

Very lucky & honoured to be part of the project! Here’s one of the pieces I got to do, ft. Isaac & MC, based on the Celtic Otherworld. The Otherworld is featured in heroic stories as a place of eternal youth, where the hero would be able to enter in various ways, one of which was that an otherworld woman would appear to them, offering an apple or a silver branch.

Never mind the fact that she’d been trying to concentrate. “I’ve never seen one quite this pompous before, I suppose it must be important.”

He gave her the same lazy smile he always did, but his gaze held a sharp quality that she knew to be wariness as she broke the seal.

Quand on Parle du Loup - Ikevamp (Jean, AU)

Fandom: Ikemen Vampire Pairing: Jean x female MC Warnings: ANGST. Blood, slight gore, horror, character death Summary: When a small village in 18th century France is stalked by a beast, at what price is peace bought? (~4k words, angst, historical/horror AU) Author’s Note: Hey everyone, this was my piece for the @ikevampzine​ - the theme of the zine was ‘mythology’ and so I opted to play around with the idea of the historical folklore surrounding the story of the Beast of Gévaudan. (If you have never heard of it, go google it! It’s a fascinating little interlude in history!) I was nervous because angst isn’t my usual playground but I had a lot of fun with this. I was also blessed enough to collaborate with @beni-draw-ikemen-please​ for some amazing art to go alongside it as well, and I thank her for being such a fantastic inspiration! Please see her full piece in all its glory at the end of this story!!

It slunk between the tables and conversations, stalked on silent paws the wisps of woodsmoke that curled from the blackened fireplace, and growled in the echo of every unsettled laugh that bounced back from the oaken rafters overhead.

Not here, not in the sense that mattered, but omnipresent. On everyone’s lips and hearts and minds.

La Bête

The Beast.

“I heard it took another shepherd last week, ‘round La Besseyre-Saint-Mary,” a snaggle-toothed man said quietly to his benchmate as she walked past, laden down by a heavy tray of food and drink. “Saints preserve us.” He crossed himself, and then spat on the tacky floor as if for good measure. 

“Saints indeed. The Lord knows we need all the help we can get,” his companion agreed with a rueful twist of his lips. “I thought it was gone for sure, after the marquis’ men caught that big ‘un and showed it off. It went quiet for awhile…but the past couple of months haven’t been so quiet, have they? They must have had the wrong wolf.”

“Did you ever notice though…” The first man broke off, casting his eye about suspiciously, before leaning towards his companion conspiratorially, his voice dropping low enough that she struggled to listen in. “Things really only seem bad around the full moon? Unnatural, I tell you. They say it’s just a wolf, but I’m not so sure.”

Shaking her head at their superstition, she breezed past, angling for the darkness of a corner sequestered far from the light and liveliness of the fireplace. The table she finally stopped at was occupied by only one man - unusual at this busy hour, but no matter how many times she’d seen him come in he always sat alone. Perhaps it was the heavy air he gave off, the way his thoughts seemed walled away behind the tooled leather of an eyepatch. Or perhaps it was the gleaming sword strapped to his hip, and the fine cut of clothing above it. Far finer than any rough homespun worn around these parts.

The end of everything felt like a warm bowl of soup, Vincent realised. 

When he woke up, he felt his body sway like he was being bounced in the hold of his mother, with her soft face and her sparkling eyes. Vincent came to realise that he was on a ship, something he’d never been on before. He stood up, pausing when vertigo took him, and walked to the edge of the ship, where he saw the water was murky and indecipherable. It was so dark and still, despite the ship breaking its waves. He couldn’t even tell if there were fish underneath. 

He walked alongside the rim of the ship, and then stood over the bow, where he felt no cool breeze or wind to grace him. Odd. How did it move without wind? His eyes wandered above. He could not tell if it was dusk or dawn. The sky seemed to be gray as glue, and there was a hazy mist of smoke that seemed to spread itself thick, rendering the horizon distant and unknown. 

“I will not allow you to become a gift to these waters,” said a voice behind him, and Vincent nearly fell overboard. His hands found purchase in the grit of the grainy wood, and he leveraged his arms to look behind him. 

Vincent blinked. There was a woman, and she was dressed in a white dress with dark red and black lace. Vincent recalled painting an eclipse before. He was staring at one. “Hello,” he answered back. “Where am I?” 

“We’re headed elsewhere,” she replied. She held a rather blurry smile, like a smudged painting. 

Vincent opened his mouth, but hesitated. “Is it someplace I know?” 

She was quiet. “Yes.”

He nodded. “Then, that’s alright.” He pushed himself up from the gunwale and extended a hand. “My name is Vincent.”

She reached out hers and held his. “You can just call me whatever you’d like.”

“You don’t have a name?” 

She shook her head. 

Vincent thought about it, and then smiled. “What about Lisse?” 

Her eyes widened. He realised that they were like dark chocolate. “Like… Elise?” 

He shook his head. “Like eclipse.” Vincent pointed to her clothes. “Your dress reminds me of an eclipse.”

Sorry for the inactivity! Lately, I’ve had the honour to be apart of an IkeVamp Zine (@ikevampzine) called Les Gouttelettes with amazing writers and artists! Be sure to follow the zine page on Tumblr and Twitter for updates and to see the other previews!

Morning came faster than expected. Light shone through the windows of her room as she groggily opened her eyes and rolled out of bed to get ready for the day. The house was oddly quiet for someone who was housing a guest; she expected him to be at least up or hear some kind of noise. Walking around the house, she couldn’t find a trace of Leonardo, seeing his bed already cleaned up and stored away in a corner, something she was quite surprised seeing since he told her his friends tend to call him a slob, with a little note on a table.

Curious, she opened it as she slowly read his messy writing of the characters, thanking her for her hospitality and saying that he washed the dishes from last night’s dinner as a little extra. A smile formed on her lips as she sighed, shaking her head as if she just had read a longtime friend’s message. ‘I barely know this man yet I feel like I’ve known him for years. This is quite strange.’

Ikemen Vamp Zine Preview

I have been so blessed to have been accepted into the @ikevampzine! It’s digital and free and should be coming soon! I got to write a super fun sleeping beauty inspired MC x Napoleon story! 

“She was hopefully and irrevocably lost.            

That was the only conclusion that Aurora DuBois could come to as she continued to make her way through the vast forest. Trees towered over her, sunlight filtering through, glittering off the river that flows beside her. She’d lost her horse an hour ago, after it spooked and bolted away from the forest. Which led to her walking, following the river, hoping it would lead her to a village or a woodcutter’s house. She’d always been taught that when lost, water could never lead you astray, for everyone needs water.             

Her crimson cape fluttered in the gust of wind, her carefully pinned auburn hair coming loose as a few strands fell down, brushing her rosy cheeks. She could practically hear her mother’s voice lecturing her, “What respectable lady travels alone and with a sword, no less!”             

It was true, Aurora wasn’t like other ladies.”
